141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: October 14, 2015, 05:47:21 PM
We are in talks with bittrex. This issue will be solved during the day.

Regards

EDIT: looks like their node is not receiving any peers to sync the blockchain with. Although, as far as we can see it is synced everywhere, on every node that we control. And its about 15.

Regards

Thanks for the update.

Have not heard anything from them in a while, maybe they are asleep now. Still, i see not other problem on any other exchange? anyone experience issues?

Kind regards

I guess not from the only 2 problems i see reported here, wallets are currently disable on bittrex so i guess we have to wait.

There is an idea of two different nodes. Regular with minimal amount of stakes and a SST node.. super staking nodes which have ten times more than the minimal stake amount

yep! and x (ten?) times more PoS % then the regular node PoS %!

Sorry, what i ment was, you have to have ten times more funds than the minimal amount of funds you have to have before you can stake. In other words, regular staking node: 2000shf, supernode: 20000.

This is just an example, the numbers can be fine tuned. 5x might be good. Its not any problem to fine tune this stuff later. This is no PoS though, its node staking, PoW will still confirm blocks and will earn more funds than node staking.

This type of example will bring to live a brand new type of reward system then, using some what of the reward system of PoS and Nodes with the strength of PoW.

Yes, there will be some changes to the devp2p protocol that shift uses. But we are getting there. We have an 80% done PoC code in python (which will be converted into golang) that handles the staking node winner. It actually uses live data from network in some extent. The miner who mines a block will be the one who pays out the stake to the node winner. How this will be done is in planning stage.. but the PoC is soon done and we will now start with p2p protocol changes.

Some facts though,

Node stake reward is dynamic and is calculated by the actual amount of SHF in the system. This due to the inflation. Rewards must be aware of inflation.
Only a certain % of the nodes in the network will get a rewards, every node is randomly selected. In theory a node could receive a reward two blocks after each others (opinions about this?).

(Block: 196872) Number of nodes: 9, number of nodes that gets a reward: 1([u'108.61.218.27:53900']), reward each: 0.279558
(Block: 196873) Number of nodes: 9, number of nodes that gets a reward: 1([u'108.61.218.27:53900']), reward each: 0.279560
(Block: 196874) Number of nodes: 9, number of nodes that gets a reward: 1([u'104.238.191.83:53900']), reward each: 0.279561
(Block: 196875) Number of nodes: 9, number of nodes that gets a reward: 1([u'45.32.241.124:53900']), reward each: 0.279562
(Block: 196876) Number of nodes: 9, number of nodes that gets a reward: 1([u'104.238.191.83:53900']), reward each: 0.279564
(Block: 196877) Number of nodes: 9, number of nodes that gets a reward: 1([u'104.238.146.111:53900']), reward each: 0.279565

Remember, the above is a centralized, but will be fully decentralized. What this node sees is far from every node in the network. Every node in the network must be aware of every other node. This needs to be propagated to each nodes by them talking with each other. That is what we must accomplish with changes in the p2p protocol. Also we need to ship the coinbase address of a staking nodes IP-address.

thanks for the detail info on this node reward system, this will show how under value this coin is.

If someone will fill my order I will be very glad, so buy high sell low to me. thank you  Tongue Tongue

haha gotta love them buy high sell low people but I don't know how much you will get done here..I tried  Grin

there not that much money to be made in this type of accumulation period, just some small .1 to .3 dumps most likely miner getting btc to pay for the light bill.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: October 08, 2015, 03:01:00 AM
We need volume on exchanges, otherwise miners will go away and shift will die with natural death.

And we dont care. We will still continue do develop. How about that mr expert. Now, lead, follow or get out of the way..

Kind regards

That's what I like to hear.  Keep it coming guys, nice work.

Volume isn't everything, and honestly, either are exchanges.

Hard work will pay off, a natural grow scenario would be the best solid foundation we could have plus a solid development.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: October 05, 2015, 08:27:26 PM
SHIFT WALLET 0.9.3

A new version of the GUI wallet with full transaction history support. The transaction history support is partly made possible due to our earlier core function development, SQLdb, which does not exists in ethereum.

When downloading the binaries from GitHub make sure to left click and go all the way to the RAW button

Great job shiftTeam, I'll be contacting a few promoters or maybe an article to get some PR going has we are setting on the ETH toes and more.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | UPDATE v0.4.0 | GUI WALLET on: October 02, 2015, 04:43:58 PM
So, to give you something to look forward to. In short,

Shift Wallet 0.9.3 is done (windows binary have to be compiled and some small testing will be done). This release will be including full transaction history for accounts via GUI.
Second (breaking our principle not announce anything before its done): Think blogspot.com but SHIFT (still in planning phase and coding has begun)
Announcements will be done when releases are done, not before.

Regards

Thanks for the update, and the future news on what will be going on.

Great job, keep it up Shift team!

what would be the next step for shift? or what should the community should do in order to help the dev team.

maybe putting together a community help plan would be nice.

Price is so nice to buy so much more, so i notice the activity on the thread has slowed down quite a bit.

It would be nice if you showed us your real nicknames (who is behind shiftteam). If you were developing other coins in past tell us about it, so miners/investors could know if you are skilled and is it worth to wait.

I'm not trying to FUD or HYPE. I know it's not a bitcoin clone, but I'm tired of newbie dev accoounts.

Regards

We have already proven our selfs. Its up to you, do what you think is best Smiley

Kind regards

Not everyone has to go public to prove they are worth our support, people in this forum view going public has a sign of are your a scammer of altcoins or not, then if they coin goes wrong they want to know who to blame and who to make memes of.

if they could get close to an ETH level of development they have proven them self's, then again if a public dev wants to take on the task of making shift better without all the crazy funding hype of what ETH has Shift is the right place.

Yes they have proven them self, but (it's only my opinion) for me it looks like shift has been made only as a test coin with no further purpose.
The main coin is EXP. SHF is only for testing: wallets, block time/size and technical stuff.

As I wrote it's only my opinion

most alt coins are testcoins, anything that begins on this forum is a testing concept no matter if is a technical, social or idealist.

152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SHIFT] 1st ETH fork | GUI wallet | NEW BLOCK EXPLORER | UPDATE v0.3.0 on: September 24, 2015, 12:32:59 PM
Was out for a while, how's the project going? Smiley

Progress, new gui wallet out soon. Working on another interesting function. Wont say more until we are sure that its working.

Regards

When can expect some more info about "interesting functions" and what about website

When the development stage is in beta. Makes no sense to announce stuff before they are semi-done. We are not here to hype anything if that is what you are hoping for.

Regards

I'm not hoping for hype. You said that we'll have some interesting function. I only asked when?

We all know how this forum is, i respect the dev team trying to release information about what is semi done to give a more solid statement when is announce.

I see way less dump in this last few days, slowly recovering from a down term lets see how the upcoming developments help the price and the coin exposure.

MISSION

SHIFT is based on Ethereum and represents its first fork. This enables smart contracts and a full turing-complete
contract programming language.

SHIFT will offer bounties for individuals that help the network grow by pushing decentralized applications onto the
SHIFT blockchain. Our aim and hope is to make SHIFT a competitively sized network in regards to number of nodes
and dapps.

Next to the internal developments we are looking to actively sponsor and incentivize a continuous and rapid evolution
of the platform via bounties and development funds, provided from the existing premine.

After a minimum of 2 Million SHF mined, holders will have the ability to vote on future means of
distribution, i.e. when and how a switch to a pure PoS or hybrid PoW-PoS system will take place.

Is there an update to the Horizons portions of the OP? It's slated for today or it that just tentative scheduling?

yea what happen with the update?, i came to check up on any updates but i guess we are still waiting.

Hey guys, does anyone happen to know the current mining cost?

use this http://badmofo.github.io/ethereum-mining-calculator/ it should be about the same.

Very important notice. If you are running your Shift node on a server directly connected to internet, make sure not to enable RPC if you do not firewall that port. There are some existing bugs in ethereum that has followed over to shift, funds can be stolen this way if you are unlucky. So, do not enable rpc on a server with a wallet that has large amount of funds. Just until we come up with a fix for this..

Regards

I appreciate the notice, thanks dev.
