1  Economy / Economics / Re: Steve Wozniak's Blockchain Venture Reaches $950M In 13 Minutes on: December 20, 2020, 03:26:43 PM
Steve Wozniak founded a crypto coin to address climate change. Details yet to be announced. From press releases it sounds like a crowd funding campaign crossed with an altcoin. Offhand I don't remember anyone trying this before. For those who don't know who Wozniak is. He cofounded apple with Steve Jobs. Wozniak wrote the original apple PC operating system. Then designed and built the hardware. Steve Jobs was the sales, organizer and PR guy.
A crypto coin reaching near to $1 billion in market cap on day 1 could be a record. I don't know if this received much publicity. I think it could have potential.
To be honest, he is one of the few people on this whole planet who could possibly pull this off.
Anyway, lets not neglect the fact that it is happening also because crypto grew a lot and now we can witness things like this.
Crypto will blow even bigger next year when current economy is going to be smashed with weight of this year's debt.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: btc value and currency inflations on: November 02, 2020, 08:10:05 AM
BTC's value is whatever you believe it is.
Do you believe btc's value is $12k because some exchange tells you?
BTC's real value for you is the price that'd make you cash em all out.
Nothing else. From which price would you cash out? $100k? That means your price is $100k for a coin.
Thats a wise thought.
It also works with most of cryptocurrencies and stocks out there.
And for most of newbie investors its a big piece of knowledge to have - its always up to you when to sell.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is Tether.to/USDT? on: October 02, 2020, 06:29:31 AM
Imagine a NEW crypto with the Name 'Rope' has a trading volume of over 5 millions usd on uniswap. A visit to the website 'https://rope.lol/" has a BOLD Image of a hanging rope with further inscription 'Do not buy it' followed with a grinding face that looked like someone who got scammed.
In a summary, the webpage is saying. do not buy 'ROPE' you could loose everything and you will regret it. But the reverse is the case.  As a matter of fact. this token made 118%
within 24 hours of listing and have a volume of 5 millions usd on Uniswap.
My observation on this. Most people no longer care about the objectives of a project. they just want to Make GAINS.
the days of do your Research is fast diminishing and most market users cared less about what they do with their money that they can invest on a project with BOLD description "this is a scam' as long as there is a return.
i tried to trade the token but after visiting the site, i lost my little sense in trading on uniswap.
I think you should understand 2 things after witnessing this particular case: 1) almost any coin possibly can be listed on uniswap, all responsibility on your side and that is the price of DEX service.
2) after 2015, year when bitcoin started to hit big numbers there already were people who were here for gains only.
For sure there are more of those in here now, but there tons of serious investors that are interested in projects developing
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto success takes time on: September 11, 2020, 01:18:13 PM
Of course, all crypto coins also take time in order to become popular for example, bitcoin in the early days of bitcoin had no price because there are still good updates until now, The price of bitcoin has become very high and is becoming very popular now
Excuse me, but what are those bitcoin updates you're referring to?
Indeed there are a lot of projects that were built upon blockchain, but that doesn't mean bitcoin itself was updated.
Moreover, bitcoin's popularity was at peak like a year ago and you could notice that for last 6 months btc's domination was falling.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: top 6 cryptocurrency , Invest in 2020 on: August 28, 2020, 06:06:12 AM
I don't know about the top 6, I found myself preferring Exchanges especially ProBit Exchange. it's impressive as it's top 20 exchange in REAL web users traffic, and top 30 exchange positions.
It is kind of funny to promote exchange service in thread that promotes some random titan coin in overall valuable top5 cryptocurrencies.
Now when I saw your message I would never use probit simply because of the way they promote themselves
6  Other / Off-topic / Re: Looking to build a power PC for video editing, gaming and coding. on: August 19, 2020, 09:47:58 AM
I am looking to spend about 3000 usd equivalent on a custom PC build. I mostly do video editing, coding and some gaming on my days off. Let me know what you would build with that budget.
If possible links of products would be great.
Can't help you with choosing the exact hardware, but I have couple general advices:
Do not buy amd graphic cards, if you're going to use adobe software - they're not really compatible.
Thus being said you're left with nvidia option only and those are working just great in pair with intel processors.
When your list of hardware you need will be ready make sure to check it with bottleneck calculators, they're not hard to find.
Lastly, SSD manufacters sometimes lying about their product's read/write speed, so you got to check reviews and feedbacks on each one you're looking at before you consider buying it
Good luck
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats your thought about New projects? on: August 04, 2020, 04:00:33 AM
If you visit some crypto forum you will see so many upcoming cryptocurrency projects coming into the industry but sometimes I begin to wonder what is their purpose of bringing in New crypto project knowing well that some of them have wrong motion of the project they are bringing, I have participated in so many of them last year but I have not hear from them again some are abandoned on the proccess with a lot of promises they come with just to gain your interest. What do you think?
I think its obvious enough for us, regular users that we don't need another altcoin or token. There won't be any magic trick that will help one climb up the cmc ladder.
But the market still desperately needs new useful technologies. If one project provides market and users with technology and altcoin at the same time - there are some chances for this token to blow up
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forget bounties and Airdrops on: July 29, 2020, 05:39:12 PM
Bounty is long time income But Airdrop short time income.Airdrop earn so easy.Airdrop task completed than some days wait for received payment.Bounty running long time.Bounty work for weekly.Bounty payment so good & Height payment . Airdrop payment so low.Bounty finished than wait for payment some month.Airdrop & Bounty 90% scam project. So I there for good payment received for bounty work.
It is all like you've said, but one thing is missing. There are high chances that one who invest time in Airdrop/bounty can be left with nothing even if he will do everything right.
And this discourages to participate in those
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: July 18, 2020, 11:18:58 AM
Maybe the environment is the big winner of this whole situation  Grin
I would be curious to see the amount of CO2 saved as a consequence of the global lock-down.
There are bunch of articles and podcasts on this theme at the moment - and the answer of science is No, environment hardly got any chance to recover from things we've done to it for many decades non stop.
Air was a bit cleaner from pollution for a month or so, but thats just temporary and won't bring any long term effect
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Crisis Will Come on: July 02, 2020, 08:11:55 PM
I think the financial crisis will come. This will happen due to a pandemic. This crisis will affect many countries. But this is just a crisis. It can be overcome after a while. Of course, bitcoins will always be expensive. I think this is a great investment. Perhaps bitcoins are more reliable than gold.
I have started to feel the financial crisis is already being in. There are quite a few shops which I know which were on rental have started to close it because they do not have money to pay those rentals now as there was no business from past 3 months. People have started to work from home and close their shops or to wind up their business as it is no more profitable or cannot pay the salary to their emphasis. this is all sign of the impact how economy may fall in coming months.
I hope it will only restore and recover from now on since many countries do open doors up, people are allowed to go anywhere in masks mostly.
So it can prevent the rest of opened businesses to remain where they are at least
11  Economy / Economics / Re: What if this pandemic persists till the end of the year? on: June 28, 2020, 07:18:14 PM
So many lost their life due to the virus, some are Dieing without food because of the same virus. Whole world is suffering due to coronavirus.
This is the beginning we will see more worst situation within the September it's not gonna end this year.. All doctors scientists are trying to find medicine for this. Hope they will find medicine soon and save the world.
It's a huge loss don't know when this crisis will end. Do not spend much save for future so that even if lock down we can manage for food atleast.
This is why our economy and stock/crypto markets will die eventually (if we'll remain at our houses because of the virus)
I suppose we have 0 understanding of when is cure to corona will be ready.
Then we know for sure - we can't save our lives at home endless due to limited money.
I guess people now just has to risk their lives from starving first, the corona second
12  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud mining - why? on: June 04, 2020, 05:16:57 AM
so why do people buy these contracts?

Mostly ignorance and their want to join the "crypto hype train". The same reason why people frequently get tricked into investment schemes. Even a quick Google search would immediately let them know how bad of an idea paying for cloud mining is.
Pretty much yeah.
OP suggested that people buying contracts because they expect price of bitcoin to go so up high that they're going to be in profit eventually.
But most of the time people sleep on doing math, relying on their expectations and assumptions
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do I need ICO? on: May 21, 2020, 05:06:21 PM
if you really need a lot of funds then you need to do ICO/IEO but if you can get your own investors to fund the project that you are developing now then there is no need to do ICO/IEO
Yes, but for now if the project developer wants more funds for the project, the choice is through IEO on a good exchange bro, not through ICO because investors now no longer trust ICO since there are many scammers in ICO in the last two years.
I don't think there are many examples of relatively small projects without ICO/IEO in general, even if they have investors.
It can happen tho with big projects, they can delay for several months
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How would you view an ICO project if it was launched by an accredited lawyer? on: May 12, 2020, 02:40:38 PM
let's say that an ico conducted by an accredited person, a lawyer has more confidence from investors and perhaps is less at risk of scam but this does not mean that it will be successful and will meke earn the investors this nobody can know it until the end of the ico
yeah agreed, it doesn't really matter if it is an ico or not actually. its just users and investors are convinced that icos are cursed or rarely successful at all
but accredited person in charge is a good sign for investors for sure
don't think that regular user actually check who runs the campaign at all
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you prefer to invest token or coin? on: May 01, 2020, 07:18:48 AM
I have this curiosity before about which one is efficient and more attractive investment. When it comes to blockchain, which do you think is far more superior? Any subjective thoughts?
I think that your question makes sense only if we imagine two identical by usage currencies, both of them listed on exchanges and has some market cap, but one is coin and other one is token.
In this thought experiment I'd rather buy token, because I personally believe that ethereum (and other token "providers") grant a lot of stability and makes the process way easier for developers so they can focus on updating their token
16  Economy / Economics / Re: The drying oil on: April 27, 2020, 12:24:11 PM
Oil price hit down due to the extended lockdown, we still don't know when the pandemic will be resolved so countries are hesitating to stock the crude oil because more longer they store then the more expensive they will face and also some countries are in need of funds for a medical emergency which left the oil untouched so prices went down too much.
I honestly hope this could lead countries to use more of renewable energy instead if such unreliable resource like oil.
In couple decades when oil will be gone - those countries who were smart enough will have enough energy (like Australia for instance)

11 Years ago from this, thanks Hal.

(The link was added)
he also twitted about bitcoin's co2 emissions 11 years ago, such a great mind.
Only now we start to worry about same problem, energy usage and all that bad stuff
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Italian Bank offers Bitcoin Wallet Integration in their Online Platform. on: March 31, 2020, 09:20:49 AM
In this trying times Bitcoin should be most convenient to use given the fact that it doesn't require physical transaction and could possibly one of the reasons of transferring of infectious diseases and with the worsening of the economy people and the government should protect their citizens wealth in case the pandemic disease takes time to get solve.
Bitcoin is one of the choice but sadly, using bitcoin in everyday transaction is so hassle, it's transaction speed is so slow! and the fee Is quite not practical for micro-transaction.
You are so right dude. Actual bitcoin (and other crypto's) transactions make it obvious - cryptocurrencies are not ready to replace current fiat currencies we use daily
19  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: BTC - BCC on: September 10, 2017, 10:01:52 PM
Hi thanks it worked id tried your way and imported the keys from armory again but this time i made an new wallet first on electron cash with seed and password, and hen sweeped keys, now i have not sent it to any other wallet yet as the password works so should be ok as it is, thanks for your help.
Hi i did the steps you showed me and it worked but i have a prblem creating a wallet this way "Standard wallet" -> "Use public or private keys" only let me make a password and not a seed so on the same machine i made a new wallet with seed with the same password as the one with bcc in it then i tried to send the bcc to the new created seed wallet but says incorrect password, my pc is on and shows the bcc amount but cant send to the new one if i close the electron cash progamme i'm afraid i will not be able to open that wallet again can you please help as how i can fix this i have even tried to get the private keys but it asks for password and says ----incorrect password---
So, let me get this clear. You imported your private keys from Armory in a new Electron Cash wallet but didn't sent them yet to a new HD wallet (the one that has a seed) because it's showing "incorrect password" when you try to make a transaction?

If that's correct, it means that all your BCH are still stored in your addresses from before the August 1st fork. You can just do the first steps again to import the same private keys in a new wallet and don't set up a password this time (just click Next with the empty textbox), then try to send them to your new wallet (make sure you have the seed stored somewhere).

Hi i had bitcoins on armory before the split and now sent to different wallet can i use the armory wallet addresses which are now empty to import to electrum cash and still get the bitcoin cash thanks
I'm not familiar with Armory, but I did some research to try to help you.

1. Select your wallet and go to "Backup this wallet".
2. Click on "See Other Backup Options" -> select "Export Key Lists" -> click on "Export Key Lists".
3. A new dialog will show up. Select only "Private key (Plain Base58)" and "Omit spaces in key data".

Now, download Electron Cash[1] and do the following to import your private keys:

1. In the "new wallet" wizard select "Standard wallet" -> "Use public or private keys"
2. Enter the private keys you took from Armory into the textbox.
3. See if the Balance will update with the amount of BCH you have.
