1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Motivates you to Invest in Cryptocurrency? on: July 21, 2018, 09:34:26 PM
two things. One is the potential to profit, and the second is the interest in the technology itself. It's amazing that people are financially sovereign
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What else after this massive dip ? on: February 10, 2018, 04:36:38 PM
things will continue as usual after every dip. People start calming down, realizing that it's not the end and continue buying crypto. The great things about cryptocurrencies is that not many people are involved yet, which means there are so many potential buyers out there. When they enter the market they will buy crypto and consequently increase the price. Just keep calm and hold.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Good moment to buy ETH? on: November 29, 2017, 03:34:38 PM
Ethereum will have some awesome updates coming up, there are many new features that will be added and that of course will help the price out a lot. To start with we have the Zsnarks protocol being integrated, this will come directly from Zcash who has developed it, what it will do basically is it will allow transactions to be completely private. That will make the network very attractive for big businesses because it's really important for them to hide customer data and protect their identity, something which currently is not possible. Another cool thing is scalability, you'll be seeing shards being implemented slowly which is something that will make the network much more faster by having side-chains in order to process more transactions. These are just two examples of why the price will skyrocket.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Get out of ethereum while you still can! on: November 29, 2017, 01:19:37 PM
lol ETH just passed 500, what now? I'm kinda considering listening to your suggestions, but considering that you've been wrong to start with I just think I'm gonna keep dat ETH in my wallet and keep the profits flowing in. Quite sweet if you ask me. Why are you bashing Ethereum anyway, the project has been solid for months now and it's always evolving with new features that will be added and things that will improve the overall network. Some of the implementations will come within the next couple of months, which will further drive the price of ETH up to the moon. You're gonna have more of a reason as to convince anyone to not buy something than simply telling them not to do so. Give us some arguments as to why this isn't a good investment, we might understand you better.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: the price of ethereum increased on: November 29, 2017, 10:40:03 AM
it's basically expectations for what is about to happen. If you follow Ethereum closely you will know that it is going through some "phases" these "phases" are basically protocol updates that are meant to make the network better, more stable more efficient and basically fit for the future. Some of these updates are very close and that's one of the reasons why ETH is gaining at the moment. These protocol updates will make a lot of changes as well not only to the protocol itself, but to the competitors of Ethereum too. You have for example Ethereum changing from mining to PoS. PoS is Proof of Stake which means that instead of mining to validate transactions you will have to just keep some Ethereum and you'll be able to simply validate transactions yourself, and gain some coins in return.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Rising on: November 29, 2017, 10:06:08 AM
I really do believe that Ethereum is the future, but I can't say the same for Ethereum Classic. What has happened back in the day was that Ethereum got hacked, and basically in order to save the funds they had to make some updates to the protocol. Ethereum Classic is basically the people who decided not to follow these protocol changes because the protocol should be considered "holy". What a nuts idea. I mean how are you suppose to continue developing in an ever evolving market? You are meant to make hard decisions if they will benefit most of the people. Since then ETC has offered nothing significant, the only significant enough thing was this hedge fund creating this sort of ETC index, or pool which attracted quite some investors, besides that there is nothing new that ETC brings to the market.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins Under $1 on: November 28, 2017, 04:03:22 PM
a big mistake that many new traders and investors are making, is confusing the price with something that is expensive. The price of something is relative. If a coin is trading for 0.2 cents, it doesn't necessarily mean it's cheap.. if there are hundred billions of that coins, it's only normal that's it's trading for 0.2 because the supply of the coin is so high. It's really about supply and demand. The reason Bitcoin is ten thousand is not because it's the most expensive coin out there, but because there are only 18 million bitcoins out there. The supply is really limited which drives up the price. There are many cases, such as XRP who has a supply of billions of tokens, and even though they are trading at 0.2 cents right now they are essentially worth about 8 billion. Don't confuse a low price for a cheap coin.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Ethereum grow like bitcoin ? on: November 28, 2017, 03:37:48 PM
you can't really compare these two coins, they are completely different from one another. BTC is the first application for the blockchain which was and will always be, that's quite a big deal because most of its current success is not due to the fact that it's a better network when compared to others, but the fact that it has been the first in the market and therefore the most popular. Bitcoin has went through a lot, Ethereum is still relatively young which means that it might offer some better returns that Bitcoin (if you invested in one of them today) but eventually Ethereum needs to be tested as well, it was only in 2017 that it took off so there is still time to see how things will be handleded both internally and externally.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: November 28, 2017, 11:17:38 AM
Ripple did very well at the start of the year going from nothing to about 24 cents, but since then (May) Ripple hasn't performed that well, it's currently sitting at 26 cents and the reason for that is in my opinion the anger from investors and everyone who doesn't want to get involved in it, for one main reason. Ripple is way too centralized and way too many coins are under the power of Ripple, that's really bad for the investors but obviously really good for XRP, the reason the price ain't going up might be that insiders are selling via bots little by little (in order for the price not to crash) and that could be the reason why the coin and value doesn't increase at all, it's been hovering from 20 to 26 the last six months, when will something new happen.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: PIVX price on: November 28, 2017, 10:34:14 AM
I like PIVX but there are so many better alternatives out there than that. The market is really centered to privacy coins and we have many competitors. Monero, Zcash, PIVX, it's really difficult to differentiate one from another because they all basically want to the same thing, or are aiming for it (private transactions) but each project is using a different approach, technology and obviously team to achieve that. Out of all the privacy coins out there PIVX is one of the least advanced one's in my opinion. Monero has already a huge market share but a good candidate to multiply your returns would be Zcash. Zcash is using by far the most advanced technology and that has been confirmed by many veterans in the industry. Research first all privacy coins before investing in one of them. After you understood how they work you'll have a more clear idea where to put your money in.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Thoughts on Golem (GNT) Mid - Longterm on: November 28, 2017, 09:14:21 AM
I think the coins has a great futures, it's really unique what they want to accomplish and it's one of the first tokens that wanted to do that, they launched a while ago but progress is strong, because their final coin is not exactly easy to attain. They basically want to create a super computer that can basically process anything from unused GPU power around the globe, that's quite cool if you think about it and there are a lot of industries that will benefit creatly from that technology. The fact is though that it's a big goal, and unless you want to stick around for the next ten years, you shouldn't invest in it. It will take some time but long-term it's definitely one of the best investments you can make, short and midterm I think there are better options out there.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum at $1000 in Jan 2018? on: November 24, 2017, 04:04:07 PM
After today I'd say that it's quite likely that it will happen, it went up already at 450 which is insane if you consider it was at 320 a couple of days ago, that's quite some money that has been flowing in lately. I think people start realizing the potential of ETH, as the biggest decentralized app network in the world. It has so many use cases that it would be impossible to mention everything here. It's something that like take quite some time until it is developed, but when that happens we will be seeing some even more crazier price increases. People will at some point want to use these applications and Ether will be there to offer them that possibility, the only thing the users will have to do is buy that ETH, and therefore increase its price.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: November 24, 2017, 03:22:56 PM
there definitely are good coins out there, and there definitely are bad coins as well. You can't predict everything of course and it's difficult to foresee if something goes right or wrong (you basically can't), but what you can do is be sure that you're investing in a good project. In order to ensure that you can check the whitepaper and read it several times trying to figure out whether what is written in it makes sense and if the goals indicated are feasible. Unfortunately many are just following the hype, and whatever coin is being talked about is the one that usually profits a lot. But what you have to do is actually spend a lot of time talking with the community and founders before investors in a coin. It's not easy but if done right you can profit greatly.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Eth buy or wait? on: November 23, 2017, 03:55:08 PM
ETH is quite cool. I'd pay as much as I can if I were you. When they get to proof of stake everyone will want to hold some of that ETH, it will be a big thing to have 100-200 Ether since you'll be able to stack them and validate transactions, which means you can essentially get paid just for holding Ether, something which is quite cool. Instead of holding stocks and getting paid dividends each quarter, you'll be able to receive something similar to dividends by securing the network. That's so much more cooler than anything that is out there traditonally and I think people are missing the big picture. ETH will be one of the biggest projects and companies ever, and it will be thanks to the openess and the open-source policy it has towards every integration they are doing.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 23, 2017, 01:32:01 PM
Monero is okay and used monstly for under the counter transactions, it's quite safe but I'm wondering how it keeps that position, as the most valued pivacy centric coin. It's great but there are other alternatives out there that are so much better, so start with ,we have Zcash which uses a more advanced protocol than Monero. Zcash protocol will be implememnted in many big networks, including private one's from banks and financial institutions, this can already give you an idea about the level of innovation we are talking about. If a company decides to implement a solution it's probably because they can't implement it themselves difrectly. Zcash did exactly that and everyone is now interested in implementing their protocol, that should be rewarded in my opinion.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC price 100 USD? on: November 21, 2017, 04:03:23 PM
It's possible but I think unlikely in the short term, you have so many things going on with other coins that LTC is kinda in the back. The best case scenario I can think of LTC is something happening to BTC and people moving their money to LTC, that can happen. But in general, the value usually comes from the project itself, it has to innovate and provide something new to the market in order for them to buy more coins and the value of the coin to appreciate. I think 100 is reasonable, but BTC will have a lot of attention in the coming weeks due to various new, such as being utilized as a future. Other coins such as NEO are doing greate marketing campaigns as well and are integrating their technology well enough to get a lot of media attention.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO Breaks NEW HIGH on: November 21, 2017, 03:22:47 PM
It's nice to see that NEO gets back at it again. Really they are doing great with all the partnerships and at least they are trying to become compliant with the government, it's one of the only projects that has actually tried to cooperate with the government and make their assets legal under that juristiction. That's a big deal if you ask me because a big barrier to mass adoption, integration and instituional interest in the regulatory part. As long as the blockchain is in the mist and things aren't clear as to what is legal and what is not, we are unlikely to see mass adoption. NEO is really contributing to that and they are trying their best to bring regulation to coins, which are great news not only for NEO but for every other token out there.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When will altcoins boom again? on: November 21, 2017, 02:00:32 PM
altcoins are already booming since the start of 2017 so that is still going on. You can consider that the market capitalization at the start of the year was about 25-30 billion, right now it's 240 billion and it keeps on rising on a daily basis, at least half of that money is already into altcoins. Bitcoin has a dominance of about 50% and it's very important to realizise that half of the value has come from altcoins, and many of them have already proved that they can indeed deliver and showed everyone their true potential. Look at XRP and ETH for example, they had increases of several thousand percent this year and they continue to do well. The first wave of interest has come and passed, there are still many who don't know what is going on in that sector, when the second wave come's, we'll experience another great price increase.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long Term HODL Cryptos on: November 21, 2017, 10:53:17 AM
out of the crypto's you listed I like the following: NEO, XRP, SIA

NEO: Because it's basically a hedge to ETH, which means that if something goes wrong with Ethereum, everyone will run to NEO and integrate their smart contract platform. Another cool feature of NEO is that it serves the Asian market, and that's a huge market which will grow even more than others (in terms of blockchain adoption)

XRP: It's pretty clear that the project has proved to be able not only to integrate their technology with other banks but create long lasting partnerships, most of the partners are big institutions and banks and they have already bought and adopted the XRP infrastructure for intercompany payments

SIA: decentralized storage is gonna be pretty big, and even though SIA has many competitors it is still a solid investment. The fact that they have been around longer than most other projects and the fact that  they keep on engaging with their audience and followers on a daily basis is really important. I'm bullish on SIA but they should have a look at what the competition is up to Filecoin etc.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in ICO, still promising? on: November 20, 2017, 04:12:14 PM
ICO's are a great way to put your money in good use. Just think of the alternatives. Investing in the S&P which is a traditional index with the five hundred biggest companies in the US will get you an average return of about 8%, which is very low. In contrast BTC had a return of about 800% this years and ether about 2000%. The risk reward ratio is definitely worth risking some of your money. Yes ICO's are very speculative and you run the chance of losing your invested capital, but the fact that you can multiply the initial invested capital by a thousand fold makes the risk more than worth it. Fact is that many people have become millionaires thanks to ICO's and many have lost all of their money. It's up to you to decide which kind of investor you are goin to be.
