1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: COINSMARKETS EXIT SCAM is now 100% confirmed. on: April 20, 2018, 01:36:48 PM
Sorry to hear about your problem, this is why many people always advise us not to store too much money on an exchange especially a new exchange. I hope it is not the end of coinsmarkets, you need to pray that it is just a temporary issue and hope they will back normal so you can take all your money there. It is indeed hard to deal with, but you cant do anything now except hoping and waiting.

Heist confirmed.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised that there's no more updates from CoinsMarkets.

At best, they might open up a few lesser altcoins. Then I'm sure the site will somehow get hit with issues again and the bullshit 'bear with us" excuses will start up again.

Yeah, they'll do a Mt. Gox. There is still talk of Mt. Gox returning funds all these years later. They are just postponing their assassination date in the end.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Gems Protocol - Decentralized Mechanical Turk on: January 19, 2018, 01:29:43 PM
Currently the ICO market is saturated, but Gems Protocol is an interesting project and I'll be watching! It will be an easy-to-use project and people will see applications! How many tokens? How will the distribution be?

fundamentalist bitcoiners are opposed to ICO scams..the acronym "ico" was created by poloniex masterminds as a way to temporarily circumvent IPO securities laws ~ in 2018 = game over Wink weee

Gems whitelist is already full up. I missed it.

Hi all,

Got a response from Gandi registrer:

My message:

> Message:          Hello,
> I just saw you are the registerant of this domain:
> I have some questions regarding this domain status:
> Is there any background working/updating upon this domain like DNS

> Best Regards,

Their answers:

Dear Sir,

I work for Gandi's Legal department and your request was escalated to us as it involves potentially sensitive material.

As to your first question regarding ongoing operations or other processes underway involving the domain name <>, I am sorry but as the sponsoring registrar, Gandi may not address such a question as these operations are confidential, whether or not they were initiated by the registrant, his/her authorized contacts, or by law enforcement agencies, the Registry, ICANN, or by any third party.

As you stated, the website does not seem to be hosted by Gandi but uses CloudFlare, Inc.'s CDN service. As such, Gandi SAS only seems to be the sponsoring registrar for the registration of the domain name <>.

As a simple technical provider and a neutral intermediary, we would like to stress on the fact:

- Gandi does not own, hold, nor possess in any way the domain name <>;
- Gandi does not own, edit nor publish the website <>;
- Gandi does not operate or does business through said website.

As such, any and all claims regarding services provided (or not) by the company exploiting the website <>, all operations or potential business issues and consumer/investor complaints are to be addressed at the company editing the website <>.

If no solution or agreement can be reached, or you do not receive any reply as you seem to indicate, we strongly advise you to contact competent authorities tasked with investigating such business frauds and investment wrongdoings.

As explained above, Gandi SAS solely provides technical services to the person who registered the domain name. As such, our company may not be held liable for its customers' actions or lack of action as we do not take part in any way in operations ran by our customers nor do we interfere with the way they decide to use our services under their sole responsibility.

Consistent with this neutral role of ours, Gandi SAS may not get involved nor resolve disputes arising of the use of our services nor any other kind of business disputes between third parties or between our customers.

Nevertheless, as a neutral service provider, we can confirm Gandi SAS shall comply with any request or order issued by any competent authority, law enforcement agency or competent courts as we always did.

We remain at your disposal should you need additional details.

Kind regards,

Legal Department

No help at all.....

Thanks for the info and your research efforts.

I think there is a message between the lines ...
"If no solution or agreement can be reached, or you do not receive any reply as you seem to indicate, we strongly advise you to contact competent authorities tasked with investigating such business frauds and investment wrongdoings.
Nevertheless, as a neutral service provider, we can confirm Gandi SAS shall comply with any request or order issued by any competent authority, law enforcement agency or competent courts as we always did." ....

Message is: do not wait go to authorities and we will disclose all our data and knowledge.

You get what you pay for with these shit exchanges.
Worse than losing the funds, is the distraction of not focusing on my other funds because of being bogged down in that shit.
I think they either got DNS hijacked or staged their own DNS hijack. Please tell me to shut up next time I post. This crap has taken enough of my time and energy.

password recovery still doesnt work ...

I think its time to say goodbye ...

Luckily all the coins I had was just from airdrop and not my investings ...

I think they're gone. The ~"Due to users complaining to host we are now moving" message that was on there before. What does that remind you of? It reminds me of that fat kid who you asked for some candy when you were younger and they said no, you said f*** you and they said "I was about to give you some but I changed my mind" lol.

They've bolted with the cash. Get used to it.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 14, 2018, 03:01:36 AM
This issue could take a long time to fix because thousands of users were buying up coins for .1 sat and selling them for .2 sat to themselves to generate volume.  Now we have millions of wallets with less than 1 sat balance that have to be transferred to the new database.  This will take forever.

unless the site is back online by monday we will be instructing a solicitor to recover our funds plus damages.

they have been warned

A solicitor will recover 10% of the funds in 2 years.  Look at Mt. Gox.  That turned out lovely.  Only thinking about yourself.  It's not like they are emptying the balances.  We have verified the wallets are still online.

That doesn't mean anything. They control the private keys. They could move it any time they like.

They could be planning a mass exodus, but it's far easier to roll with the 20k/day income they're generating than trying to steal a few million dollars in funds through different wallets.

That's not necessarily true. If they are mandated by the enemies of crypto - bankers etc. , they would exit scam. That way they get massive payout now, and get to damage crypto rep too.

It's hard to say. I'm still 50/50 on it.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 13, 2018, 04:53:54 PM
Hey - just curious - is anyone successful at the moment in actually logging into the site?  I get "socket error" half the time, and then when I'm 100% sure I'm putting in the right username and password and PIN I get "wrong login info" (sometimes), then when I try to retrieve my "lost password" I put in my email address - and get no email from them?

Just curious if anyone is having trouble logging into the site at all -  thanks...

I was getting root SQL error last time. Might wait for the end of the month. If no joy then, they've ran for it. People who think they have no access to your wallet should think again. It's the private keys which access the blockchain which they control. It doesn't matter if your funds are there if they control them.

This is why I didn't buy rai blocks. I didn't want another small exchange - bitgrail. Hope they come back. I will lose a few g's on there. Could be worse but could be better..
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 13, 2018, 12:18:21 AM
I have various coins tied up with coinsmarkets, really hoping they come back.

I did realize something regarding their most recent "update" about maybe having to move because of users complaining. If the web hosting company got a bunch of complaints about coinsmarkets, the hosting company might have told coinsmarkets they might pull the plug on their web hosting if people keep complaining.

Of course, that is not excusing their lack of transparent communication regarding what is going on. And to make it worse, let's leave an unmoderated chatbox open on the site that isn't working, so all the bored trolls can try to freak people out.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Always the right way. The chat on the site is a 3rd. party tool, hosted off-site afaik, which is why that works. I'm not defending them at all. We'll see what happens. If anyone had all their coins on CM, and thinks there isn't a lesson to be learned from this (whether it comes back or not), you will be burned in crypto eventually with that mentality. People lost their life savings with Mt. Gox.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 12, 2018, 08:54:42 PM
Is he working hard Huh

" We are here to stay , there is few DB issue we are fixing due to DB overload . Now we may be moving due to users contacting hosting and calling us a fraud. "

Well, eventually someone start getting to their asses. They fully deserved that.

I have not problem with people contacting the hosting company to get the facts. I just don't like all these newbs here eager to dish out threats without possession of the facts. I remember the early days and the shit bitcoin wallets back then, it was a joke compared to what we have now. The long hodlers put up with a lot more or simply didn't give a f***. Chill

You'll get your accounts back or you won't. Postpone your filthy greed (that's all it is mostly) until you have the facts or at least a greater likelihood of facts being established.

I'm still 50/50 on this whole episode but it's my own fault in the end. I didn't have them in paper wallets or my local machine, in my own control.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 12, 2018, 05:14:17 PM
Site gets better and quicker every day.
Arguable. The website is seemingly faster because they are attracting less and less traffic every day since server overload
https seems to be restored. I think they're getting back to normal. Weak hands might sell coins for below the market rate when they get back on and I'll be there take their money.
We'll see what happens. I think they will close new memberships if/when they get back on, but who knows.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 12, 2018, 04:55:42 PM
Let's all be patient here! All exchanges are experiencing issues lately due to the massive augmentation of users.

I can't provide evidence but for a brief moment a few days ago - almost a week now, I could sign in and see my balance. When I went to do anything else, I got the error at hose from cloudflare.

I will reserve judgement about what's happening. CM is an anonymous user exchange with no KYC which isn't a bad thing. However, it is a small exchange relative to Bittrex, Bitfinex or Binance.

I think the page we occasionally see that is not cached is the old servers. If they are migrating data into the new servers, they would not want to keep exchange and withdrawal open as then they would have to replicate those changes over. With new server they have to set uall the nodes again and import all the accounts over etc. I wouldn't want the exchange open if I was doing that. I would want it frozen.

So there's 2 possibilities in my eyes:

1) It will be back soon and better than ever. They will be rigged for high throughput to handle the people that want to get their coins out.
2) They've exit scammed, or got hacked.

I'm leaning towards 1) If they exist scammed, they would have declare it as a hack.
I'd say your coins are ok. There is unprecedented demand for exchanges in recent months but also I think pro-gov banker backed hackers are abusing the API's and trade with accounts to screw things up. That's my take. Time will tell. I will lose some money on a coin that's been doing quite well lately if they exist scammed. That's life.

Our traditional FIAT banks guarantee the security of ..crap paper tokens that are infinite in supply and centrally regulated. Take it or leave it.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 12, 2018, 12:02:15 PM
that still wouldn't answer why my bitcoin wallet has a total that I know i don't have in my bitcoin wallet.  I have less than 2 btc, i only uploaded that amount during that day, bought eca with it, traded the eca for litecoins, all of those trades happen during the day the crash happened and haven't been updated correctly, although my intial deposit for btc has, everything else would be correct except for the trades i made, nah man. i think they really are bogged down with work, and unless somebody shows me real proof of my coins being moved everything looks as it should to me.

the no communication part sucks, and i don't know what to do if and when the site gets back up and running because i love to trade on this site, i started with .1 btc and grew it into 5btc. so i will be using it again once it goes back up, only this time when i start to notice glitchy errors i will be moving my money out immediately and will cease all trades.

I'm very sorry to hear that. It sounds like you have a lot to lose if you started it from there. But you really should have moved it when it got 0.5 btc  not 5 btc...
It's human greed in the end. Rich fiat vested people that rip off peoples pensions set up a karma of guanteed failure as the world of their children is reduced to rubble. There is ultimately nowhere to hide.

People who are vested in the tech of crypto / cypherpunks fair the best as they understand the risks.
Ethereum and NEO are goin to be huge this year as people move all their funds off exchanges and invest in ICO's etc.

The crorrect repsonse here is to embrace full decentralization. We need initiatives like Blockstack, 0x, Kyber, Loopring, BNT, Civic, Request, Steem, Tron, Verge, maybe even Mysterium etc. to thrive. I hodl none of those right now, I sold my Request. But Im thinking of holdling all of them.

I also want to change the way I exchange. I want to work more offline with Ethereum and NEO as my big currencies.
Web sites are centralized - they are our enemy sooner or later. We need distrabuted DNS, onion routing or equivalent.

I'm down about my losses to coinsmarkets if that turns out to be the case, but I will never leave crypto. It's prbably intelligence agencies behind a lot of this anyway - Bankster goons with brains and nothing more.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 12, 2018, 11:34:33 AM
So i have a theory, everybody knows the initial reason we all thought coinsmarket went down in the first place. New ECA customers overloaded the site and caused the damn thing to blow up. Right well after several days of lack of communication I too am beginning to get worried however once checking the block chain and noticing the irregularity in my balance which is listed as a little over 2 btc, i realized that during the day of the actual crash I was selling ECA for litecoin. when I check my litecoin wallet in the block chain it actually says that I have a zero balance. The balance on coinsmarket remains accurate which is a little over 80 litecoins

So from my understanding of this the transactions that happened if you were trading on that day were not correctly updated due to the server overload so although the ledger in coinsmarket is still correct with our balances the blockchain still has yet to receive the accurate data which would cause an even more large amount of mayhem in order for them to fix.

the lack of communication is by far the worst part of the unknown about this. But during my frustration from the early beginnings of the ECA Overload i would send messages to the support and it was always short very low in details and just basically said please dont spam support.

So the dev is getting blasted with so many emails, death threats, you name it, etc... he's probably freaking out, a simple update from something that sounds human would make us all feel a little bit better..

but from how i look at it.. the balances just haven't caught up yet and they do actually have a lot of work to do.    here is my litecoin wallet which should have 80 coins     here is my bitcoin wallet which shows 2.07 which is the total of my deposits from that day however i currently as on coinsmarket only have .92 btc

any thoughts on this guys?

I think this is possible. I have the same. I bought some B3 with LTC when the site didnt work well anymore. On the blockchain it said I still have all the LTC but in my wallet on CM I already have the B3. The blockchain of B3 said that there is 0 B3 on that wallet.

"when I check my litecoin wallet in the block chain it actually says that I have a zero balance. The balance on coinsmarket remains accurate which is a little over 80 litecoins"

This is the more worrying part. The wallet you see is just an interface to the exchange. It can show you whatever they want it to show you.

Your bitcoin wallet has what you say it has, but maybe if they are stealing, they will leave the btc to last in order to cash out.

If they halted service, they obviously woudn't bother getting the B3 as they can cash out more easily with LTC.

I have no idea what is going on but it looks very bad. The site is now unsecure when you go there - no https so it looks like some kind DNS hijack, or more accurately a staged DNS hijack and twey are robbing all the funds.

Either way, they are either stealing your crednetials when you log in now, or they have complete control anyway so it wouldn't matter. Or, and I hope it'sw this one - they are bogged down with work, but unfortunaltely I just don't see that.

I hope I'm wrong as I have money on there, but it looks bad. The fact that nobody knows who they are, they don't communicate, the site is unsecured and they could be stealing your credentials all points to bad news. In 6 months time, it might look the same as it does now except there will have been activity in the wallets.

" I understand that the block explorer cannot make changes but is it the accepted true record of where the coins are held - so why cannot the devs in circumstances such as these remove the authority of the exchange to write these records and assign the authority to another exchange that is more reputable"

That's not whow it works, noone has authority over the blockchain - that's the whole point. It's a big target for organised crime for that reason. Noone can stop them. This isn't VISA

Seems like a staged/fake cover for a DNS attack when they are probably carrying out the attack thermselves. BTW, isn't cloudflare centralized. We need to be moving away from this stuff too, towards blockstack etc.

And remember, we don't have the priavate keys to our wallets even if the funds remain there.

This is why we MUST HAVE decentralized exchanges. We need lots of atomic swaps. Technology like 0x, BNT, Loopring and Kyber etc needs to be supported more. If your favorite coin doesn't have atomic swaps on the road map, should it be your favorite?

This is cryptoland - it's the wild west. Don't count on people being brought to justice. It's a hackers paradise.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Experiences with on: January 08, 2018, 01:23:23 AM
How many fools and hysterics are here, how did you end up in the crypto world? Call FBI NBA BBQ BBC NHL NASA  and BDSM!  you either believe people or go fuck! I have 2000 dollars on CM and I believe in them while they do something!

If you said goodbye to your deposit, go cry to ur mother!

I got in a few days ago and couldn't do anything but I did for a brief moment get to check my balance and my coins were there. They wouldn't go the trouble of putting a fake balance in imo. Don't believe the FUD. I think they are overloaded and because they are a more privacy focussed exchange, they don't communicate well. I also got in today and saw the non-cached site to see their message - updating servers etc.

If you have your whole portfolio on there, that's your choice. It's a smaller exchange so they have trouble with volume. There are a couple of coins on there that are hot right now and as other posters mentioned, it might be getting popular for arbitrage. Anyway, I knew the risks I was taking. Only annoyed that I didn't get to put some into Yenten before the pump as I planned. Still there are opportunities when this comes back online, IF there are still cheap sell orders there!! IDK

It's annoying and worrying I know. Hope it works out. What can we do.
