261  Other / Off-topic / Re: When will people start closing their bank accounts? on: May 14, 2011, 02:28:01 AM
When there is a better, more stable option to store cash in for the long-term. Thanks to FDIC insurance, the only way I'd lose what is in my bank is if the government went under. Hey, we're in debt trillions of dollars, not like they can't cough up for my measly five grand.
262  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Getting ATI card to work, windows 7 64-bit on: May 14, 2011, 01:59:42 AM
I looked at the logs, and next to SDK runtime it says "Final Status: Fail" but gives no solutions, and google isn't being very helpful. I checked my envars and they are all ok. Any idea?
263  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Getting ATI card to work, windows 7 64-bit on: May 14, 2011, 01:45:26 AM
No i didn't.

And yeah, it's the same output. Should I ask in phoenix' thread?
264  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Getting ATI card to work, windows 7 64-bit on: May 14, 2011, 01:41:34 AM
No good, i think it's something weird now as no other miners work. Maybe i need to reinstall python...

Not sure what this means...

267  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Water or air cooling? on: May 12, 2011, 11:58:27 PM
It all depends on what you need, if the air cooler just isn't doing it for you, then yeah maybe watercooling is the way to go. A complete watercooling system won't run you much more than a couple of good fans (assuming a gpu and cpu setup), especially if your mining you'll get that money back in no time. In my honest opinion, 70c on a graphics card is perfectly acceptable, but if it makes you uncomfortable or is spreading to nearby parts, you should probably upgrade.

269  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: GTX 260 usage under 100% constantly on: May 12, 2011, 09:20:44 PM
Close all background programs -- the GPU will not run at 100% load if something else is running (for instance, a web browser). Use -f 1 argument when using miner and see if it corrects.

Sometimes, cards also behave somewhat erratically as far as efficiency for a few minutes of putting them under load and then chill out @ full load.
Alright, I'll throw that in.

It could also be (probably less likely) that your card is over-overclocked and the driver is resetting every few seconds.
Nah, with this card it's really obvious when I do that, the screen flashes black and resets and then the core clock resets to 400MHz and won't change until I restart. I will turn some of the clocks down though.

Later update: the -f 1 option worked, thanks!
270  Bitcoin / Mining / GTX 260 usage under 100% constantly on: May 12, 2011, 08:56:46 PM
As the title says, EVGA Precision showing usage constantly under 100%, usually around 80-85%, and when it IS at 100, I can crank out 55 MH/s, but at 85 i get 45MH/s. What's causing this? I'm overclocked to 725/1644/1246. Thanks.

Before anyone says anything about using a nvidia card... I'd rather use it 24/7 then just let it sit there idle.

Hi, I work for the DMS, specifically the CTD, and we've been authorized by the DMSEDWWSOE to confiscate all of your belongings and hold you indefinitely while we conduct further investigations. You have the right to piss your pants.
have a "panic" button (destroys your hard drive), and keep a backup of your wallet on a remote server.
there are people that have implemented that, especially those that are involved in highly illegal works on the internet (no, i don't mean cp, get your mind out of the gutter).

even better - truecrypt your hard drive, don't cache passwords (of course), and pull the plug when you see the feds pull up. that way, unless we're in a total police state, you should *eventually* get your stuff back.
truecrypt has a huge vulnerability: YOU. think "enhanced interrogation techniques"
very true - but in the end, wouldn't "enhanced interrogation" have the same effect if you dug a flash drive with your wallet in a hole somewhere?

I'll switch over once my new card arrives later this week! Can't wait Cheesy

And at that point I'll also hop over on IRC... I used to love IRC, but haven't found time for it lately... hmm :/
274  Other / Meta / Re: Why does this forum... on: May 12, 2011, 12:11:22 AM
Perhaps the owner could get a free one from StartSSL? It works in most modern browsers in my experience, and is included in the Windows root since Vista iirc.

Make sure to take a pic of it and show it to the rest of us!

Get me to show up for the free Bitcoins, then I stay for the high stakes gambling...clever.

I can already tell this game is going to be dangerously addictive.
It seriously is! already... good thing I'm sick and don't have anything better to do.

Sounds cool, I'll have to check it out.

Hey, I played a game earlier today and didn't get my payout, it's at 40 confirmations to 14Z5tjzBhZSkc9B69Xxob9dvuyMNKTi8Ym?

Nevermind, just got the payout now. thanks!
279  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Speed of mining slows down without a monitor? on: May 10, 2011, 04:35:07 PM
dont go by deepbit mh/s.  its not very accurate.
this. the counter in my profile ranges by as much as 50MH/s, and i only mine at 70MH/s on good days (not a dedicated miner).
