1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 problems with S9 - need help on: April 01, 2018, 04:09:56 AM
I use a short (3ft) standard Cat5 ethernet cable, but it comes from a TRENDnet Powerline adapter plugged into a 110 power outlet (with the other TRENDnet Powerline adapter plugged into my router). The connection is there when there is no hashing - I can reach the S9 on the LAN no problem.

I didn't save the log but IIRC, didn't see anything alarming in it. Had stuff like:

Check Chain[J8] ASIC RT error: (asic index start from 1-63)

but all the chips seemed to be showing as working on Miner Status although the Status of the Pool Connection was showing as Dead. Next time this happens I will save the log...

I will also save the log next time I reboot and it takes a long time.
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / 2 problems with S9 - need help on: April 01, 2018, 03:12:47 AM
1. Twice in the last two weeks the S9 just lost connection to slushpool. Internet connection is fine, the S9 is functioning correctly, all the boards are ok, the ethernet connection to LAN is obviously fine since I can access it, it just doesn't connect to slushpool. First time that was for 2 days before I noticed, so it doesn't correct itself.

2. ... and could be related to 1 - when I rebooted, both times it took more than 2 hours to start hashing. Before that the Miner Status was showing blank - no boards, no stats, nothing. No BMMiner version on the system page either. After 2+ hours it started hashing.

So - what, other than a reboot, can I do with (1) - and why does (2) happen when I see that others see it hashing 20 min after reboot?

Thanks.

Update - scam.
5  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What's the max length exhaust hose? on: December 06, 2017, 05:09:32 PM
USA, noise - well, as long as it is not louder than the S9 Smiley But obviously quieter the better.

This one looks good no? https://www.deelat.com/hvac/fans/ventilation-air-fan-blowers-and-movers/portable-exhaust-fan-ventilation-diameter-8-200-mm-single-phase-110v

Ok what is a good, reasonably priced high CFM inline fan?
7  Bitcoin / Mining support / What's the max length exhaust hose? on: December 06, 2017, 05:50:18 AM
If I use 5" exhaust hose for an S9, what's the max length that the fan can push through without causing problems? The hose will make a 90 angle and go straight up...

Basically, what I want to do is to run it in the garage, have the hose move the hot air to the garage attic and have the 1000 CFM gable fan blow the hot air outside. Feasible?
8  Economy / Trading Discussion / Trading software - Medved Trader on: November 17, 2017, 11:39:13 PM
For daytraders - I'd like to introduce Medved Trader (www.medvedtrader.com), professional PC software trading platform. It connects to GDAX (and a bunch of other more conventional brokers) to pull down the data and uses it for the trader's tools - charts, hundred+ of technical indicators, scans, alerts, etc.

It allows you to trade from DOM or charts, visually, has one-click (or one-keypress) trade placement, can allow you to reverse or flatten your position in a security/coin in one click etc. All the bells/whistles a serious trader requires.

This kind of software is common for traders in regular markets, but is severely lacking for crypto trading.

Other crypto exchange connections are coming. It already works with Poloniex and Bitfinex for data, but not for trading. Full Binance integration is coming soon. Gemini and HitBTC are in the works.

It doesn't cost anything to try - go to www.medvedtrader.com, register, download the software and run it.

Well I find sometimes the simplest-HTML-sites still provide quality services/equipment. Can't judge on that. But still would like at least an ack that someone bought something from them and received it and it worked Smiley

11  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchange for trading? on: November 14, 2017, 02:36:59 AM
The biggest problem with bittrex is that there is no published streaming API for market data. They obviously have streaming servers and protocol for their web site, but it is not public. That makes it unsuitable for any kind of serious trading.
12  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anyone use GDAX and want to share their experience? on: November 06, 2017, 03:40:49 PM
If you're using GDAX - use Medved Trader (www.medvedtrader.com) to connect it GDAX and trade - directly from chart or from DOM, open multiple trade tickets, set up scans, alerts, customized technical indicators etc.

This kind of software is common for traders in regular markets, but is severely lacking for crypto trading. Using this software crypto traders can utilize the same methods to trade that Forex traders can (since crypto is basically Forex).

You can also connect it to Poloniex and Bitfinex for data (not trading)

Full integration with other exchanges is coming shortly.

It doesn't cost anything to try - go to www.medvedtrader.com, register, download the software and run it.
13  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What exchange to use? on: November 04, 2017, 09:31:51 PM
Are there any exchanges that I don't have to verify my identity?
Don't know, maybe there are but definitely not US-based ones. I prefer to deal with US-based entities, since if there is any dispute, at least they are reachable by US laws. A lot of exchanges hide very effectively their locations and owners' identities, which is all well and good if everything is running smoothly. But if there is any kind of problem...

If you trade on GDAX - try Medved Trader, PC software trading platform. That's why we connected it to GDAX, so that crypto traders can utilize the same methods to trade that Forex traders can (since crypto is basically Forex).

Integrations with other exchanges (Bitfinex and HitBTC to start with) are coming shortly.

GDAX is very high-volume, US-based and pretty reliable.

If you're going to daytrade on GDAX - try Medved Trader, PC software trading platform. It connects to GDAX (and a bunch of other more conventional brokers) to pull down the data and uses it for the trader's tools - charts, tech. indicators, scans, alerts, etc. This kind of software is common for traders in regular markets, but is severely lacking for crypto trading. 16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Holding BTC vs Day trading or short term trading. on: November 04, 2017, 08:41:31 PM
Daytrading is a skill. It is not for beginners. REALLY it isn't.

That said, daytraders need specialized tools. There are plenty out there for stock daytraders, futures daytraders and Forex daytraders. There is almost nothing for crypto daytraders.

Our PC software trading platform (www.medvedtrader.com) now if fully integrated with GDAX (and a bunch of other more conventional brokers) to pull down the data and to trade. It has all the features daytraders require -  charts, tech. indicators, scans, alerts, etc. This kind of software is common for traders in regular markets, but is severely lacking for crypto trading. That's why we connected it to GDAX, so that crypto traders can utilize the same methods to trade that Forex traders can (since crypto is basically Forex).

17  Bitcoin / Project Development / Medved Trader PC trading software fully integrates GDAX on: October 08, 2017, 03:46:39 AM
The trading software allows you to monitor the markets in real time, chart, do technical analysis, see L2 or DOM, set up alerts and scans and trade visually off the charts or DOM.

To try it out with your GDAX account - first register at www.medvedtrader.com, then download/install the beta version https://www.medvedtrader.com/www/frontend/beta

Comments/suggestions are always welcome.
