101  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bounty: $50 Someone please fix the wiki for Map of Real World Shops on: May 27, 2013, 05:01:16 PM
I have an account on the wiki there, I just have not paid the 0.01btc to be able to edit the pages.  I believe they implemented that to prevent spam.  Once I get my MultiBit wallet back in working order I should be able to help you out with this, because then I can make the deposit to the wiki.

Save yourself the trouble/expense. I have edit privileges, but the problem is in the Maps extension of the wiki. It is not something you can resolve by editing the wiki article. To resolve the problem, you will need to edit php files on the webserver.

This is the underlying problem; I have tried to contact the administrator of the wiki. I tried IRC chat (personal messages), e-mail (on the contact page of the wiki) and a private message on this forum. I can see his account on this forum is still active, but he just doesn't reply to my messages. Since he is the only administrator of the wiki, the problem can not be resolved.

In this topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=160876.0 they are looking for extra admins for the wiki, but I don't know if the current admin is involved in that process.

I plan on adding some information to the article about other sites which offer ways to find bitcoin accepting businesses, so people will know where to look.

102  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 10 BTC Bounty to Convince me not to Invest $20,000 in P2P Bank/Exchange Idea on: May 25, 2013, 03:32:35 PM
First of all, I think it's a very interesting idea.

I would like to zoom in on point 5 of you post in the other thread: Update the hashing algorithm in a way to prevent centralized control or instant monopoly of all shares by asic mining companies.

If your idea will be a succes, then it will become interesting for people and/or companies to develop ASIC's which are compatible with the new hashing algorithm. When the incentive is high enough, someone somewhere will put in the effort to develop such an ASIC.

This in itself might not undermine your idea, but it is something you should keep in mind.
103  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin Conference Europe 2013 on: May 24, 2013, 05:47:20 PM
Great initiative. I'll second the motion for a setup (in regards to the subjects covered) like the conference in San Jose.
104  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [CODERS NEEDED] Edit simple code [BOUNTY = 40LTC] on: May 23, 2013, 07:50:31 PM
I can also help, as I'm a .NET developer by day/trade. Private message send.

I don't know if he'll be at the conference. And sadly I'm not able to be there either.

I tried contacting him on the IRC channel of the wiki, and pointed him to this topic, but he was not active/responding. Let's hope he sees my messages and picks up on it.

I have dived a little deeper into the problem (I tried to reply earlier, but was stuck in the newbie limbo Smiley). As I'm not an administrator of the MediaWiki installation I can not edit the php files myself, but I believe only one edit in one file of the 'Maps' extension is all that is needed.

In the file <mediawiki extensions installationmap>\mediawiki-extensions-Maps-<version number>\includes\services\GoogleMaps3\Maps_GoogleMaps3.php
the line at row 253 should be changed from
Code:
return Html::linkedScript( 'http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?' . wfArrayToCgi( $urlArgs ) );
to
Code:
return Html::linkedScript( 'https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?' . wfArrayToCgi( $urlArgs ) );

I have also removed a blank line between the <display_points> tag, that was causing the error message '* Parameter coordinates must be one or more valid locations. The value "" has been omitted.' (see the edit https://en.bitcoin.it/w/index.php?title=Real_world_shops&diff=37688&oldid=35843|here).

I e-mailed the above solution (at least I hope Wink) to Mark, the administrator of the Bitcoin Wiki.

Let's hope it will be up and running soon.
107  Local / Beurzen / Re: Bitcoins verkopen via Bitonic.nl on: May 10, 2013, 09:01:10 PM
Ik heb hier ook al een aantal keer bitcoins gekocht. Werkt snel een eenvoudig.

Er zit inderdaad wel een fee op (rond de 5% geloof ik), maar goed, je betaald ook voor het gemak.
108  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Kan niet replyen op topics on: May 10, 2013, 08:55:28 PM
En hier nog een.

Wil een bounty collecten in het Development board, maar mag daar nog niet posten. Hopen dat hij nog niet ingelost is als ik eenmaal mag posten Smiley.
109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello from a lurker on: May 10, 2013, 08:53:15 PM
Welcome. You're quit lucky to have a bitcoin from 2 years ago. You are one of the early adopters Smiley
110  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: VIRCUREX HACKED ??? on: May 10, 2013, 08:50:58 PM
That's bad news. It has nothing to do with bitcoin itself, but a lot of people will see this as 'another blow' to bitcoin.
111  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is anyone still CPU mining? on: May 10, 2013, 08:40:46 PM
To bad YAC is being taken over by the Amazon cloud users. There are some user with insane hashrates using the Amazon cloud services to get that much hashing power.

Very nice. Will send it to some non-believers Wink
113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: May 10, 2013, 08:30:20 PM
I would like to be whitelisted as well. I've figured out how to resolve a bug on the Bitcoin wiki, and want to collect the bounty posted in the Development board Smiley.
