1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Not news but no wonder why ethereum transactions fees are high on: March 11, 2021, 10:59:18 PM
Check the kind of transaction arbitrage bots do
https://etherscan.io/tx/0xf6f3a3978e9edc386e0ec34bacc328db934efef6c8e27ab76f87672d7349c598

This transaction generated 332$ and spent 262$ to do so with an gas fee of 298gwei...

So for this guy to generate thousands of $ per day, he increases the gas fee of everyone to astronomical amount :-/
It's not the miner who fucks up the market, it's the arbitrage traders
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS weird events on: February 12, 2021, 02:21:24 PM
thats what has been happening. they do it day after day at night.

so I need to white list my ip right? but if dynamic?
How come your rig(s) have a public IP address directly attached to it Huh
This is extremly rare for an ISP to provide such service.
You should check your box/firewall settings as it's probably a DMZ which is configured
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Always take a burned odor seriously on: February 10, 2021, 12:25:36 AM
Poor connections will lead to more heat on connections.  Probably had some corrosion on the metal mating pieces caused the sparking between the two and in no time flat melted.  Was this connection thst melted recently plugged back in?
You might be on something. Didn't thought about corrosion but I indeed plugged a connector back in after a fuse breakout.

Also my shack is almost openair and with the temperature difference in winter, it possible that some condensation formed and some corrosion appeared.
I will definitely check plugs more often

The mining community needs you on Ethereum R&D EIP-1559 mining

Don't go there to just say you are against.
Explain why EIP-1559 is not a good solution for the way fees are calculated.

Little sparks can cause burnt on any wiring even if they are gigantic amps, you can't always judge base on what your wiring setup is, it's better to be safer than sorry, always stay around your mining equipments from time to time and be sensitive to smells and odours, it's the fastest way to know that something is wrong

Yes, there is higher chances that it was sparks rather than too much power draw. Anyway, will put the new part tomorrow... Of course I realized only after dismanteling one of my rig completely that it was coming for the plug ^^
Well it was time to clean it up anyway
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Always take a burned odor seriously on: February 08, 2021, 05:28:23 PM
All this burnt happened because you are drawing too high amp from the wall and the socket can't withstand the high current, it's better to go with 10amp minimum, I used to use a 5 amps socket and this was what happened too

I could smell the foul odour from a block away, glad I caught this real quick, the wall sockets also took some damage

It was 16 amp rated connector with 20 amp rated electrical cable and I was pulling at most 10 amp
The multitap is also rated 16 amp...
I'm not sure which one burned however but it could also just had been bad connections causing frequent sparks.

Trust me, I was not pulling too much for what it was supposed to support... I was pulling too much for what it could deliver however :p
It held 3 years and just started recently to burn.
Just bought higher quality connectors rather than the cheap one I used and in any case, I wont be pulling more than 7A once I have splitted my rigs.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using risers with rtx 3070 on: February 08, 2021, 03:30:16 PM

Lol for 59$ per risers? That's way too costly for just a riser, I'm actually using the 006 risers here and I don't see any hot on the sata cable, maybe this have something to do with the way you connect the power? Are you using double power supply?

Each set comes with (6) of the following:

1x GPURisers.com Branded PCI-E Riser Board

1x PCI-E Chip

1x USB 3.0 Cord

It's 6 riser + usb cord for 59$... not 59$ per riser

Still twice the price of your average "chinese work as good as more pricey" riser
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Always take a burned odor seriously on: February 08, 2021, 09:51:21 AM
This is the reason one should never go away from your mining basement for too long, wires can melt, plugs can melt and start a fire at any time especially if you are drawing up to 1000 watts to your mining rigs, it's better to stay around at home when mining and if it's a most to leave do not go too far away
I had no issues for 3 years. Only when I reconnected everything I made a mistake and connected 3 farms on the same plug (I have two 10A plugs)
But even in this case, I was well within the rated wattage of the plugs so I guess it was low quality parts
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DogeCoin mining profitablity on: February 08, 2021, 09:49:41 AM
Hello Forum world, I am new to mining.  With the current price of doge coin going to the moon, Is doge coin mining going to become more profitable, or are you better off mining etherium and buying doge coin with your earnings via swap or exchange?

I am getting mixed results with current mining profitablity charts for mining doge coin and wondering if any one has had success with it and if they have also seen the recent spike in profitablity?

https://youtu.be/pOwIYikCawk

330 watts at 100mhs, using this block difficulty  (4,918,867.83) creates a very un realistic number for me here.. What am i not seeing?
https://miningpools.com/dogecoin/
Even with the current price, I still see negative numbers in profitability
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Always take a burned odor seriously on: February 08, 2021, 09:34:00 AM
My mining shack is sending it's warm air to my basement to heat up the house, and since a few days I noticed a burned ordor coming from the vent.
Found the issue this morning  Roll Eyes

With the current plastic I dont think it would have started a full blown fire but I guess i'm out to the DIY shop to buy some electrical parts
The multitap is rated for 3500w and was getting 2600w so maybe it was just some bad contact

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help me to mine Ethereum on: January 08, 2021, 03:55:23 PM
Do try downloading nicehash miner, it's the best for newbies who are new to crypto mining and everything, it doesn't requires to be a pro or tech savvy to configure, this miner is capable of searching the best settings and the most profitable coin for your cards, you only need to insert your wallet address

i think nicehash cheating.thats why I'm looking any other solution
So you are not mining yet but have already preconceived notion about nicehash...
Interesting.
I mine from time to time on nicehash and never had any problems and the revenue matches what I'm supposed to get.
The prices are visible on their interface but fluctuate depending on the demand.

Of cause can be use
How long have you been mining ? How many rigs do you have ?
Yeah, that's what i thought
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can i power a GPU (3060ti) using a MOLEX to 8-Pin PCIE adapter? on: January 08, 2021, 08:18:13 AM
So it's time to turn on my rig again but i've run out of working PSUs.

I'm looking to use a molex to 8-pin PCIE adapter like this one in the image below.
If the 3060ti only consumes around 120-150w undervolted do you guys think it's safe to use this?

You are asking for trouble.
If for some reason your undervolting fails and your card revert to default, they will burn out
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for advice, newbie topic on: January 07, 2021, 05:30:15 PM
5700XT here cost around 550 euro, lets say 600 (735$) for the sake of it. Im willing to invest around 11k euro into the whole mining rig, thats a little over 13.400 dollars, the electricity here is 0.15 e/kw (0.18 $/kw), but there is a chance to get a plan for huge electricity consumers, 6 euros (7.3 $) per month for unlimited electricity.
My question is, can something proper be achieved with those kind of insights and if so, wont my rig be obsolete after eth 2.0 finally drops?
What ? 6€/month for unlimited electricity ?
I highly doubt it. There is a catch.

Its for people who use over 2250 kwh per year, no catch
But you still pay the electricity but at a lower rate right ?
If that's not the case, i'm moving where you live Smiley

Good Afternoon Guys,

@PhoenixMiner Can you post the download link somewhere else alongside Mega. For some reason I can not download the miner from Mega. It is stuck at "Requesting Folder Data".

Best Regards,
Let me guess, in a few minutes someone will post the link as if it was phoenixminer posting...
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.4c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: January 07, 2021, 03:30:51 PM
Sorry about this post but i don't know where to post it.
Last night they empty my wallet
Every ethereum went to this address 0xca70fffdf62e355323c1da8ddbf34c65d0f8a16d

Its a disaster
I can see my ethereum in that address stiil now

Is any hope HuhHuh?

0x41348e27...    11604833    0x4108589a58a3...    0xca70fffdf62e...    8.74320 ETH    0.00397 ETH    189 GWei    07/01/2021 4:27:46 ΠM

I'm sorry about your loss, but there is nothing to be done. The transaction is not reversible. This should be a warning sign for everybody, think twice before downloading a "fix" posted by newbie accounts promising increase of 10% in hashrate or other "pills" working with all GPU and CPU, impossible to be true!

Especially use wallets with 2auth, check sms ..

How can we transfer 8 ET so easily? without protection !

Indeed, I just wonder why no blockchain have not implemented a build in keycode.
For exemple you would need the private key and also know the key code to make any transfer.
I'm sure that's something that could be implemented like the application generated a private key and you generate a hashed key that is added on top of the address.
The private key would match the first part of the address and you would need the key code to get access to the funds.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for advice, newbie topic on: January 07, 2021, 02:58:24 PM
Definitely NOT a 3090...
It's a power hungry beast and for the same price you can buy 4*1060ti which will give you 2 times more hash for a little more power consumption.
Best cards right now are 5600XT 5700XT and the very best are 3060ti
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: More Epochs mod v1.0 for Claymore ETH miner 15 by JustAMiner. Epochs 385+ work! on: January 04, 2021, 04:07:54 PM
A lower fee would be fair.
You didn't develop Claymore from scratches.
Dropping it to 0.5% would be a nice move toward the community.

I was thinking about reducing devfee to "modern standarts" of 0.65%-0.7%. I just don't wanna touch this part of the software right now, because I'm quite busy with adding support of Linux version and AMD Gpus. Devfee is probably protected well, so I can't change it in a hurry. After adding support of Linux version and AMD Gpus, I will take a closer look at devfee part of the software and probably will be able to reduce it.
Understand, I guess you are working on the assembler level ?
