I'm sure there is a thread somewhere that could be pointed to that would have all the best options stated, anyone?

www.bitpay.com

Bitpay is nice, and they already offer POS Bitcoin payments (with an iPad). But I'm wondering about the speed, is it really usable? Maybe they use another system for POS as what they use for web payments?

I'm saying this because I did a web payment recently where the merchant was using Bitpay. The payment was only confirmed after the block with my transaction was calculated and included in the block chain. This means it took several minutes to confirm my payment. On the other hand, I paid for the new Humble Indie Bundle yesterday, and they use https://coinbase.com/‎ as a Bitcoin payment processor. There, my payment was confirmed in only a few seconds. That's the speed you need for POS payments.

But on the Coinbase web site I don't find anything about POS systems, they only do web payments...

I quickly looked into coinbase, has anyone had any other experiences with it...either buying from a merchant using it or using it as a merchant?

I'm interested in it, but I know that BitPay is the market leader and very trusted. And they got a big VC investment recently which hopefully will fix any of the delays you mention.

So how many hot sauce bitcoin transactions have you seen so far?

We've only had a handful of Bitcoin orders so far in the 2 weeks it's been available as an option. There was a bit of a hiccup at first, but we fixed the bug and I've tested it since...it works great now. Very easy process with BitPay. I'm hoping more people order with Bitcoin because it is far and away THE easiest and cheapest payment method from our side. Transaction costs are a fraction of what credit cards charge.

6  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How do we get merchants on board with Bitcoin? (I've got time & money) on: May 23, 2013, 11:46:21 PM
I recently added a BitPay payment option for my website and its insanely easy to use. I wish I could stop accepting credit cards altogether. They are definitely not designed for Internet purchases. I'll be suggesting BitPay to any merchant that asks.

I think the main problem is ignorance. Even in the forum, posters don't understand that BitPay mitigates any exchange rate risk for the merchant (if the automatically exchange BTC for dollars after purchases). The fee is very low and the funds are in your wallet in hours instead of days with PayPal or credit cards.

Another attractive feature is fraud prevention which is built in to bitcoin itself. Credit card companies have huge fraud departments. I think max keiser said yesterday that BitPay has yet to have a single fraud claim in millions of transactions. Pretty amazing....

The BitPay option is back up and running for bitcoin payments.

I've been working with OpenYourEyes and if you live outside of the US I will have to create a custom order for you so please pm me if you are interested in a buying. There is an issue with international shipping and the site won't process correctly, we can absolutely ship outside of the US while we work on this issue though.

My business partners and I were just talking about beer pairings! We are definately going to do something with pairings soon. Either an article or a special section. Is there any beer pairing content in particular that you'd be I retested in? For instance, recipes with hot sauce and beer pairings, beer pairings in the descriptions, it's own section, how to pair beers with sauces, all of the above... Smiley

How about listing 1-5 suggested beer pairings (by brand and/or type) for each sauce and an introductory article explaining the logic behind them?

This process could be automated by tagging your sauces (savory, smokey, sweet, tart, fruity, painful, etc.) and doing a lookup against an existing database of beer (BA or Ratebeer's).  You'd have to write the matching algorithm (If [hot=true and savory=false] Then [suggest=Pilsner]).

You could get fancy and have a reverse search too, so we can look up which hot sauce to get according to what beer we have/like.

*clicks 'Beer -> Sauce search'*
*clicks 'Stone Brewery' logo*
*selects 'IPA' from dropdown menu*
*enjoys expertly selected salsa pairing perfectly*

Could you commission a vendor to create a Bitcoin-only "Satoshi's Secret Sauce?"  I'm thinking that would be a souped-up Sriracha with grilled pineapple/pluot instead of sugar, less garlic, Scotch Bonnet, a pinch of celery seed and fresh cilantro, plus a shot of tequila and a splash of single malt.   Grin

Wow, this is a great post!!! I'm really glad we decided to post here...

All those ideas are great and really got me excited it incorporate beer into the site.

We can create private label sauces and that's a great recipe. And a great idea to make it BTC only. If and when we do this, I'll personally send you a free bottle. That recipe sounds delicious!!

I don't see any "Pay by Bitcoin" at the checkout stage, just PayPal and Card?

Above PayPal it says "bitcoins via bit-pay.com"

I notice you have the Heartbreaking Dawn's sauces.  I'm a huge fan of their 1498 sauce, one of the first to use the deadly Trinidad Scorpion pepper (mellowed out a bit with Scotch bonnets).  Unlike many of the sauces marketed as "extreme" sauces, this one actually has flavor and can be used as-is.

Yes, we have several Trinidad scorpion sauces... The hottest non-extract sauces you can buy.

Damn, I love my chillies. Do you ship to the UK at all?

Yes, we can ship anywhere.

It all looks so good, I can't decide what to order first!   Cry

No gallon jugs of Melinda's?  Well that just makes it harder.

/1stWorldProblems

Suggestion: suggest beer pairings for each product!   Cool

Unfortunately no Melinda's gallons at this time, but I'll definately make a note that you were interested.

Well BQC has been around for almost a year. It's having a bit a resurgence right now. Currently is exchanged on Bter.com Check out the website and forum for more information. Either way your hot sauce looks amazing. I have a coffee roaster and need to update my website to accept bitcoin. Did you run into any problems implementing bitcoin payments on your website?

We use a merchant service called BitPay that integrates with our shopping cart. What shopping cart do you use? They integrate with a lot of them. It's a very easy process.
