If there is anyone that lives in Sydney, Australia then a possible IRL meet up would be preferred.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin as Bitcoin's quarter. on: October 09, 2013, 04:46:05 AM
The value will be what the free market decides.

Pretty much this. No such thing as "quarter to dollar", whilst it's plenty possible, litecoin isn't relative to bitcoin, simple as that. With the ridiculous hash rate litecoin has, i would find it hard to believe that litecoin would stumble and fall, BTC and LTC are clearly miles ahead of any other coin out there at the moment in terms of network hash rates. BTC simply has more spending options at the moment whereas litecoin is still slowly taking off in terms of places to spend it.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I be worried? Mt Gox trying to 'locate' my $10,000 on: July 04, 2013, 04:15:14 AM
Geez.. Don't know what to say, i feel sorry for you and im very glad im not in your position.

Keep us updated on what happens, community deserves to know what the dealio is. Unfortunately, if you dig around a bit on other forums and possibly this one as well, you might be able to find similar cases of slow dealings from gox - i can't reference anything but i do recall reading a forum post a while ago about something similar. Gox eventually paid up, just seemed very slow and dodgey about it.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining. Is just a hobby to me as I know I will never profit from it on: July 01, 2013, 04:09:39 AM
Love it how kids can only see bitcoin in short term profit and cant appreciate the amount of $ they would make if they considered it a long term investment. Keep selling up your coins every week to make marginal profits kiddies =) <3
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [It is official] The price of LTC is no longer following BTC! on: July 01, 2013, 04:03:41 AM
Buzzwords I hear all the time: pump and dump

I guess the people who dumped ltc at 5 cents really were out to give you their profits. Oh no very bad lol  Cheesy

Hi Smoothie, i'm you're biggest fan and ill preface what im about to say with: i love you and i think you should give me free physical litecoins.

But on another note, completely unrelated to anything really, i just wanted to pick apart your first sentence, just because. First of all, as someone who works in IT, i fucking hate buzzwords. With a real passion. You know all those kids talking about **oh warning: /rant** fucking "the cloud" i mean holy shit. Amazon refers to their servers as "the cloud" a few times, then apple adopts the term and coins their own "icloud" and suddenly every kid and his dog is talking about the cloud. Fucking. Cloud. FUCK. Do you know how that kid felt in the matrix movie? the first one? there is no spoon? i think i understand how frustrated he felt on the inside, the kid was clearly going mental about how every other retard thinks there's a spoon there, when there clearly fucking isnt.

I feel like buzzwords ruin everything, people who want to be hipsters with no real conviction ruin everything. Buzzwords kill the real meaning of what someone is trying to express. I mean shit amazon, why not just call them servers? Why not just call them virtualized servers running on EC2, WHY AMAZON, WHY. I mean seriously, can you imagine the business meetings that these fucking executive wankers go through? They're literally adding a layer of shit to a concept to try to explain it to people who have no fucking idea about IT. "Hey buddy that wants to invest in some virtualized services, do you want to be more confused? Get a whif of this: Cloud.". I mean holy shit. Why add a layer of stupid to the truth when it's simply Virtualised computing > services for you. Why bother calling it cloud, when you have to explain it as servers running over the internet anyway? There's just no point. "So you call your product "the cloud" .. arn't i just connecting to your server over the internet?" Amazon: "well... .... CLOOOOUD".

*/rant*

I'm so frustrated right now, i don't even want to talk about what i initially wanted to talk about, this is one of those posts that you type up and then just close the page without pressing the submit button because there is no point, but my level of frustration will carry me through with it.

Anyway. The pump and dump thing. Buzzword: kinda, kinda not. Why do people constantly use pump and dump in regards to altcoins so frequently? Simple: the amount of garbage altcoin clones out there are massive. What happens when a new altcoin comes out? A bunch of people mine it, and what do all of the smart early miners do? They grab their coins after the first day or two, and sell them privately for LTC or BTC to make a ridiculous profit of approx 300%-900% of what they would have made if they were mining LTC during that time. (That's right, a possibility of fucking 9 days worth of mining in 1 day.). Then in about a week or two, people get tired of it and the early investors dont want to buy the coins anymore, so an exchange might adopt the coin, and then in about a months time, the coin is officially dead. Welcome to the "Alternate cryptocurrencies" section of bitcointalk.

That's all to do with altcoin releases by the way, the pump and dump bit is the glorious part which occurs when the said altcoin actually jumps onto an exchange. The pumping and dumping occuring during the first week is glorious, then it all crashes down and the coins become worthless. Of course, the coin is literally naturally pumped by the hyperinflated difficulty of the early week/s due to it being a new coin. When the "newcoin smell" wears off, people go find the next coin to make a 300-900% profit. Go figure. This is what Altcoins are about for a lot of people.

It's the reason why the firecoin2 thread had hundreds or thousands of posts within a week, whereas the MC2 dev thread has taken half a year to get up to the amount of posts it has in it already. People want money, welcome to human nature. Speaking of money, give me physical litecoins otherwise i'll turn into a vampire and suck them from your bloodstream, i'm sure that's where you're hiding them.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2 ("Netcoin"): A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: June 27, 2013, 05:35:33 AM
Everybody should be watching this thread. It's the next properly developed and thought of altcoin to be created. It's not a clonecoin by any means and actually offers legitimate new features which have been developed for and by the community. Don't expect it any time soon though, devs are taking their time and it's important they do so.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: ► ► ► LEALANA PHYSICAL SILVER LITECOINS [pre sale ANNOUNCEMENT] on: June 27, 2013, 03:38:10 AM
No, don't listen to them smoothie. Listen to me. *I* want them so so much, ever since i was born, i said to myself "i want a physical litecoin!". You must put down pre-orders for me, it's of the utmost importance! Kittens, puppies and a variety of other cute fuzzy and furry animals may be harmed if i'm not imformed immediately when they are available for sale. I'll give you my phone number and you can make an international call to reach me when you decide to put them up for sale.

C'mon guys >.> posting interest in the coin is fair enough and even encouraged, but stop asking to be contacted or for pre-orders unless he specifically said he'd offer that kind of service. (@ ' ')=@ Kirby punch to you all.

Dear jebus H christ, i've been waiting forever for this to be announced, i'll definitely be wanting multiples 5+ hopefully =)

Keep up the the excellent work smoothie!
14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcon Generation too hard on: June 19, 2013, 09:47:46 PM
You can join a pooled mining effort, but with a CPU you can currently expect to generate appox. 0.02 - 0.06 BTC per day. That is if you keep your CPU running 24/7 at full power.

Heh, you think that's bad? I have two $400 GPUs and all I get get out of them is 0.00003 BTC per day. Things have changed, my friend.

Terrible necro. -_-
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Custom 2000 Kh/sec mining rigs for sale on: June 19, 2013, 12:48:51 AM
A+.

Checking out the site and i think a lot of people out there would say that your deal is actually pretty nice. There is obviously a premium to be paid for the service and setup (which is where you're making the money), but it appears to be a very fair premium. I've seen similar places try to charge much higher rates for crate rigs which just didn't seem as fair.

If i was someone that was not really technically minded and wanted to get into mining, i'd definitely be interested. As someone that is technically minded i see this as a fair product in terms of pricing, i'd perhaps even call it a bargain to be honest. The reason behind me saying so is simply because of the following:

- Rig is completely setup and good to go. All you need to do is plug in the power and press the "on" button.
 - All software w/ OS is preinstalled and preconfigured
 - All of your own miner details are entered and good to go
 - All hardware has been updated with the most efficient drivers and bios configs

The benefit of all of this is that there is absolutely no fiddling or timewasting in terms of getting your rig to work the best way possible, it's completely done for you. I can imagine kids posting here and talking about how it would be cheaper to buy all the components and set it up yourself, but thats not the point of what the OP is trying to sell, so appreciate that please. A message to anyone that isn't so technically minded and has been wanting to get into altcoin mining: this is a very decent deal, if the guy is genuine, then it's A+ in terms of value.

Y'know, i feel that this coin describes this section of bitcointalk perfectly.

I *was* in shock and disbelief at first, then i remembered where i was.

Guys, BitJohn said it = it's true. (really, he's psychic)

But seriously, if you guys dont want to keep shifting around crappy pools then head over to BigVern's. He has stratum setup as well.

Don't know why people aren't aware of BigVern pools by now, but here is the link: http://luckycoinpool.com

Quick, awesome and reliable as usual.

Why is everyone being so negative about this coin? Fair enough if there was something stupid about it or if it was just another clonecoin, but i saw a decent amount of innovation in the quick difficulty adjustments based on network hash rates - am i the only one that read that in the OP? Depending on more information and how exactly it works - the good thing about it is that it would stop certain people with massive hash rates from dominating the early few hours of the coin. Meaning there would be much less of a pre-mine effect - am i wrong here?

Copying idea's from other coins, like DGC and WDC, hardly counts as inovation. Yay, he carbon copied LTC, made the block rewards higher, and the diff adjusts.
To answer you question, who do you think feels a higher diff first? The 200 KH/sec miner, or the 3500 KH/sec miner?

Ok. I'll actually bite and not treat you like a troll for once.

1. In my post i specifically said there was a decent amount of innovation in the quick early difficulty adjustments - i never said there was anything else particularly special about this coin.

2. I dont see how the OP copied anything from DGC or WDC - please fill me in on what im missing here. If we want to say that he copied LTC, then fine. That's not a problem since almost every new coin is an adjustment based on LTC.

3. Who do i think feels a higher diff first - a 200KH/s or 3.5MH/s miner? Neither. You're missing a few extra factors which play a massive role in the release of new coins - latency and network congestion. When the difficulty of coins is extremely low, people get massive amounts of rejections from the network as well as orphans. What is the cure for this? Higher difficulty. Why do you think so many coin creators lately have desperately been trying new things out with difficulty adjustments and even trying to mine the genesis at 1.0 difficulty? This is a commonly known problem.
