1  Economy / Goods / [WTB]LFP/LiFePo4/pb/other cells/batteries for solar storage. on: March 22, 2014, 02:01:15 PM
I'm looking to setup a solar mining rig and have been looking around for some good storage batteries.
I'm sure i'm not alone in going the solar route so figured it's worth asking if anyone has some spare storage batteries they would like to sell or has found a good source they can recommend/onsell .

Shipping is to Australia (land of the ~0.30usd/kwh electricity rates, my motivation for solar), so standard regulations on shipping  batteries apply.

I'm leaning towards Lithium Ferric chemistry in preference over Lead based batteries, though i'm open to suggestions.
Ideally i'm thinking of starting with 4x100AH LFP cells in 4s1p, as small test setup, with plans to quickly double that for 24v,  I would consider smaller cell sizes also.

Cheers.

This is how my every conversation inevitably goes.
* Early dialogue flows easily, understanding comes easy, good progress is made for all, little time wasted on the process of communication, be it understanding what othe rparty is saying, or trying to express own thoghts.
* Progress into more specific subject matter, have to concentrate on what other party is saying, and think about choosing words when expressing own thoughts.
* Must have failed to express correctly myself, or misread/misunderstood what other party was saying.
* try to reword or restructure what was trying to say, and listen moew intently to understand.
* half hour later realise that have completely digressed from original topic, just debating pure semantics by this point, and not realty getting anywhere fast.

Whilst it does mean a  lot  to express any knowledge or opinion as correctly as can, and It's important  to understand any information or thoughts given; and the semantics of what something means is very informative in it's own right. It  is a very time consuming way to progress very slowly.

I see you on windows, so the following account of my suffering the same symptoms with my sapphire r9 290 card are likely of no help at all, sorry.

had a similar problem with my setup, any TC above 8192 would just give errors or refuse to load on gpu , quating insufficient space on gpu mem.

tried deleting the cl bins, freshly build still refused to load,
tried fresh pull an compile of miner softwares, no help.
I tried numerous times reinstalling fglrx drivers and opencl ask and openal headers, no difference.
Tried putting it in a windows box, and it worked fine, grrrr, thats usless to me, i dont have a windows install myself, and dislike having to work around issues when i do encounter windows.
My stuffing around iwth drivers (ati's support for non windows OS is realy very poor after all.

But finaly I tried running it from local terminal window, no ssh, no screen command, and IT BLOODY WELL WORK NOW.
My script i normaly ran would screen->ssh->screen, keeping termcaps/envvars where i thought relevent, worked fine on my 7970 (my last gpu).

Damn thought that was the first thing i illiminated out the picture when started  debugging the problem, evidently not.

random tenuously related story i know.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Personal responsibility and inept Bitcoin jesusing on: January 29, 2014, 01:32:58 AM
Well that's somewhat depressing.
OP made me feel quite ashamed of how a lot of the listed qualities that i find so disgusting in of the mindsets of some the crypto following,  so succinctly described my own actions which i never looked closely, instead just looking at others in contempt.
Seriously scared me  to see that in my own actions and thoughts, to hear justwhat that can mean
I guess it's something that was already playing on me, and having it said like that was very confronting

I was sure i wouldn't be the only one to see thier own failings so laid bare, and mercilessly told the trith it.

It's depressing to see that every other reply  seems to be just to show thier contempt for childish immoral, sub-average people, and seem pretty chuffed with thier own important and virtuous self...

Theres always going to be someone that is 'worse' than you are. Beleive me, that doesn't mean you are flawless, or even where you might have been a year a go.
Sometimes the you just have to remember to look at yourself  too. You might just be shocked and ashamed yourself when you do.

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Personal responsibility and inept Bitcoin jesusing on: January 28, 2014, 10:08:22 PM
some of that was just too accurate and  and direct t at me, even if it was about us all
I hope i'm not the only one who felt spoken to directly there,
that scared me actualy

Maybe i should  be consider taking things serious  a bit more
I would cetainly like to see the community do so,

Gotta be jovial sometimes though OP

6  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling empty water bottles on: January 28, 2014, 08:36:10 PM
The best part of this thread is the people asking why he wants water bottles.

http://youtu.be/rBI8uCKi2lI

seashells are no waterbottles, i have a 90% acurate method of telling the difference, you just fill them up with water, the first one to spill its water is the shell
protip free of charge
7  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling empty water bottles on: January 28, 2014, 08:27:15 PM
well for example you might want use them to carry some water around.
but if they not empty then how would you get the water in there, it just wouldnt fit.
It's simple physics, if the bottle is full, your not going to get any water in there.
you gotta empty that bottle out so that you can use it to carry your water.

OP is providing a valuable service,  he will do arduous work required to empty a bottle, so that you will ave a perfect empty bottle ready to use however you so desire
8  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling empty water bottles on: January 28, 2014, 06:06:58 PM
okay who's going to release WaterBottleCoin then? This thread proves theres a real need for it. I already got some BottleCaps coin, but they cant hold much water, not like WaterBottleCoin could, though i'd keep air in mine myself.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sent 1.5M DOGE to DGC address on BTER.COM on: January 28, 2014, 05:48:30 PM
yeah you wouldnt think they would risk bad rep for the exchange for and loose all the trade fees just to steal some pocket change compared to fee revenue.
Maybe they go a bit more complex process to access the keys,  tsuch as tight securty measures could make it not so simple to (the coin privkeys would would hopefuly be locked down well, maybe the manual operation he'd need to perfor actual means travel to the server for local console access, or travel to location of ssh login key for coinadmin account. Send him a reminder  every week or whatever so he won't forget it, and hope he'll recover them when i gets the chance.... or adds your email to spamfilter/
10  Economy / Economics / Re: Economics of greed on: January 28, 2014, 01:31:06 PM
You have caught the great society delusion.

I think i know what you are getting at;

the benefit to society in my eyes, is actualy a benefit to me, and the people i care about, (my society). But it will be a detriment to others i dont identify with as closely , i'm hapy to take that off them on put it where  i see it as more important.

We all have our own oppinion of what is moraly acceptable, and i am consider the subjugation (think thats the word i'm after) of anyone just fucking dispicable. If can help the subjugated reclaim some freedom i will help, I know it can improve  the level of life and happiness massively, reclaiming our civil liberties it's a benefit to my society (we the subjugated masses).

You might that the societal structure that exsits is structured so that anyone who is part of it is subjugating those who the societ structure says is "under" them.

I am part of it,
You are part of it.
We are part of it.

Well running away to namecoin code doesnt work forver, i'll  help  where i can anyway; I would end apathy if if i could be bothered ;.

11  Economy / Economics / Re: Economics of greed on: January 28, 2014, 12:01:02 PM
Yes the whole cryptocoin trading community really is a chilling example of what happens when the rewards of greed become the main social drive of a (what i'd think are) reasonably intellectual community of people. How easily 'their' ethics and morality just degenerate  into into the rotton host of cuorruption, breeding parasites viciously feeding upon anything they car, and that is the norm.
I see another complete scam, and watch 'them' swarm to join, watch 'them' actualy help build the trap (leeching of anything that comes near, including each other if 'they' can, luring in any victims 'they' can, seeming not even considering the victims, only thinking of 'thier' own gain.  Sometimes 'they' will think about how disguisting that  realy is, but 'they' are not like that themself, 'they' just observe it happening, and try to profit off of them, not hurting anyone themself, just haing fun trying to profit off it.

'They' is 'Me'.
'They' is 'You'.
'They' is 'We'

Sometimes i'd like to just walk the away and meditate on the namecoin sourcecode (and only the code) see if i can contribute to freeedom from repression and control. Working towards a goal which benefits society.

12  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling empty water bottles on: January 28, 2014, 09:34:40 AM
I have a small collection (roughly 7-9) of empty beerbottles, I'd be willing to part with a few of them for the right price.
I can't let them go cheap though, they are quality bottles; no cracks, nice thick glass, 99% empty; with minimal dregs or sediment in them, and I guarentee no filthy cigarette butts or ash in them. Brown glass colour only.
I'd be asking 0.015 per bottle, if you want postage then 0.02 total, and  i'll even throw in the bottlecaps for free.

I'f your after a larger number than that, then i'll prolly have another 24 empty bottles within a week, at standard pricing.
If you want same day express delivery, i can have all 24 empty within a couple hours, and i could probably even scribble your postal address on them and stuff them into a postal box. My special same day postage deal does not come cheap though, I'd be paying for that badly in the morning that's for sure.

I used to own an awesome collection of them hey, different colours and eveything, I used to keep them all hidden in a plastic container out the front of my house, it had wheels on the container so i could just wheel them inside any time i wanted to play with them or just admire them. And i'd always try to add a few more bottles to the collection when i could.
Sadly someone must have seen where i hid them and coveted them, obviously jealous of such a fine collection of empty beer-bottles, the bloody prick stole the whole collection one night hey. Just left the empty wheeliecontainer behind out on the footpath, they took every single bottle! I felt devastated.

Ive learnt to let go though, now i look at it as a chance to restart my collection and make it even better this time.
I'll just have to hope no one steals this collection, would be devistating if I put 2 weeks into an awesome empty bottle collection and lost it all again.
I'd prolly have to hitt the piss hard to cope with another a loss like that.

They argue that they have no time and it requires too much work.

It would take them 30 seconds to ssh into the server, dump the dgc privkey for your address, import the dumped dgc privkey into doge clent, then send contents of doge address  to the doge address linked to your bter account

I wonder if they are intending the theft of them.
May i ask what what was the dgc address you sent them to?
When you look at that address on dogecoin block explorer there should show the receiving transaction of your dogecoin?
Any send transaction would mean they ahve already taken the 30 seconds to recover your coins.. but instead of sending to you, just stolen them.

i guess scamcoins like doge don't actualy have any actual developers, just a bunch of marketing/pumping scammers and a search/replace function,  thus never thoguht or knew how to ensure the address generation algo was uniq from dgc (which already had the da bit more than just the starting D which dgc was already using) , The result being that the dogecoin client well just send them to the dgc address because it is also a valid dogecoin aaddress.

With all due respect, I'm surprised that a "professional gynecologist" would be actually think that any ultrasonic or electromagnetic detection device would be capable of deciphering a private key engraved on the edge of a coin.  Given the fact that you can't even determine the gender of a fetus before 17 weeks, what makes you think that ultrasound could read an engraving only 2 or 3 thousandths on an inch deep on a curved metallic surface?

Trust me, i'm a professional. Also please pass a message to your wife for me, i'll be able to see here tomorrow at 11.
Don't worry i'm a professional. She's in good hands, or is that good hands are in her!.... okay sorry to bring it to that crude level, i'll stop talking shit now (well i'll try anyway).
 [edit]
just wanted to clarify that i do not intent to insult or offend you in any way there. I was just meaning to say that I most certainly am not qualified in any medical profession, and it's never wise to trust someones wild claims without checking some 3rd party reference  material to correlate or said claims somewhat.
I was just talking crap on account of my being a raving lunatic, trust me i've got the certificate in the field of lunacy.
[/edit]

I have no idea if it would be feasable to even render such a fine detail resolution from high frequency sound waves traveling through air (or gorrillla snot if we wanted something denser) and whatever the shielding material a few mil distance.
I could wildly speculate that the untrasound  for human filth worm babies would have to penete a lot deeper, and cover a broader area, possibly a small focused tranceducer, at higher frequency might could give a higher resolution for a much smaller focal area, or its possible that the denser metal would produce a more defined reflection than a human worm baby in the womb might too.

id have some ingnorant wild speculations using radiowaves too.
i'd find it interesting finding out just how woefully wrong i am though. If i thought i already knew the answer then i'd no longer find it  interesting (and i'd still be wrong but too stupid to relise it).

The risk of someone reading the privkey in this manner is easily mitigated by just buying directly from the manufacturer instead of reseller, and then keeping it safe yourself.
So it's no big issue either way, i just find it interesting at it is good to know it's secure too, i'd love to hear some oppinions of anyone who has a better understanding then me on this subject (which is most) or anyone who doesnt.

As far as the location of Alitin Mint... They are headquartered in Springfield, Missouri...it's on the website.  I didn't see anything about international shipping, though.

Yes my extensive knowledge for geography enabled me to recognise from the name alone that was likely somewhere in USA, not everyone can be expected to know every province in every country like i do though (okay i don't realy, that was bullshit too, you  would likely know more on than me).

[rant]
For anyone without supper geogirafey knowledge like me, they would have to google that vague location found on the about-us page of that site.
For example, i live in Nowra, New South Wales.
When you are browsing a site which is wasting your time cos it doesn't just tell you where it is located in the world, you navigate to the about-us page, loosing concentration on current task, and thankfuly the about-us page lists the address, and oh fuck me that "Nowra, New South Wales" is like tits on a fucking bull, close to fucking useless but hey maybe if you pull on them hard enough (googlesearch the address) then you might just find what your looking for (the country name).
Sadly this time i woke up stone cold in the paddock aching like i'd been knocked out by an angry bull (the no international shipping info on any page, i just read every fucking sentance b , time i'd have better spent milking a cow and drinking delicious fresh milk, now where the fuck was i before i started this pointless endevour?... ah fuckit ).
and fuck analogies too!

It's just fucking inconsiderate .

15  Economy / Goods / Re: Press Release: New Physical Bitcoin Goes on Sale January 2 at AlitinMint.com on: January 27, 2014, 03:37:54 PM
Hmm, this does look and sound like well designed products.
I do have a few issues/questions that I have misgivings about though.

*I'd like to hear some more info and opinions on the security of the engraved privkey, and also the results of attempts to read privkey off the coin rim without breaking the seal.
Couple simple tests i can think of:
Bouncing various ultrasonic/electromagnetic/light frequencies  off the coin edge at various angles (and temperatures) to see if can get a readable image through the shielding material.
Reading magnetism/diamagnetism around the coin edge (would a hdd head pickup anything for example?)
Physically deforming the plastic or shielding itself to read past it.

* The provided info here and on the website is lacking a lot of important information such as; any real technical details, any external references or info to backup the claims of  compliance with  regulations and licensing (as a money transmitter). So all were given to go on is their word. Being a highly skilled professional gynecologist myself, I'm often telling clients that they can trust me when i say I'm qualified.

* Nowhere have a found mention of what country they are located-in/shipping-from, nor a single mention of international shipping info.
[rant] I'm able to deduce that they are located in USA by using my advanced knowledge of international geographic locations to recognize some of the names given at ( https://www.alitinmint.com/alitinmint/Home/About )
And also by the fact that they don't seem to comprehend the Internet is worldwide (sorry), so advertising a product on the internet without providing this important country/shipping infomation is incompetent a best.
Even slightly insulting that they did not even consider how seriously annoying it is for anyone (except own countrymen i guess), wasting a lot of my time.
That said, USA is not the only culprit of failing to consider anyone past thier own patriotic ignorance, failing to provide required details on website (though by far the worst offender i'd say). I have seen sites from my home country and other international companies websites fail to clearly show locations and shipping info, though rarely have I been abl to find the locations country at all and any international shipping information  at all. [/rant]

So while the coin looks great astheticly, and the security could be acceptable if done correctly, theres no actual technical details provided to even speculate on security of physical coin, theres no references to prove any trust in the company and its claims at all, and whilst i dont care for reculatons complience and liscencing so much, i do care about the security of the key at manufacture, do they have a database with all the private keys on the coins whcih they will steal when it suits them? Wll the lackingl details and narrowminded incompetencies of the website don't seem very preffesional, and that says a lot more than a pretty coin and plastic case does to me.
The coin/case does look very well designed and thoughtout though, i'd prolly still pickup one myself,  just to test myself which would likely end in breaking it open and transfering coins out for sience (or  for security if needed).

well, that's just my ignorant observations, speculation, slander and complaints anyway, i'd not believe a word of it if myself.
16  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Agora Commodities - A Full Service Bitcoin to Precious Metal Dealer. on: December 29, 2013, 01:53:44 AM
I recently received my first order (also being my first time purchasing precious metals) from Agora Commodities.
Damn near perfect service! The communication was great, both answering my questions/worries regarding bullion ownership. to order status updates, good communication all round.
Shipping was fast and discrete, arriving to me in Australia fast and safe.
I will def be making be making more orders with Agora in the future.
I was just now searching for status update from on International Shipping, wanting to make another order myself,  naturaly the search led  to this thread, so i'm leaving this feedback (& my appreciation) here instead.
Agora Commodities definately get my recommendation (based on my single order with them so far).
 cheers.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT coin - A total scam? on: December 25, 2013, 03:17:29 PM
I have very little experience with java myself, so am definatley an expert on the subject.
I'm sure that java can be secure, and that there are a large number of well tested in the field java libs that can be presumed to be implimented securely, which is often a better scenario than custom implimentations by devs who are somewhat out of thier league, or just wanting to get past the boring areas in focus on the more interesting (to them) parts of the project.
Was kinda just having a troll at the devs, mostly cos, in my limited knowledge (making me an expert!) of this project puts me in moral oposition to what i perceive as the main goals driving it.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT coin - A total scam? on: December 25, 2013, 02:53:03 PM
Just spent half hour reading abou this coin, not looking too positive so far.
So i read this is 100% POS, but where exactly do the original 'stake' coins come from? I read some debate about initial distrivution in this thread, but i'm still not clear on how the original coins are minted?
Is there information page somewhere with explicit details on minting and distribution of the original coinpool?
Am I to presume they where 100% premined/allocated to a single person/group of morally questionable entrepreneurs?
Well it worked out for ripple, i'm supprised we have not seen more variations of that scam appear.
Am i also to presume, jusdging by the choice of java language, and lack of source release, that this group lacks any competent developers?
I expect thet the use of a rapid development language such as java, with it's vast collection of libraries of prewritten code; will indeed allow even woefuly incompetent devs to add new flashy features in short timeframe, which with sufficient spruking will attract a plethora of ignorant unfortunates buying into their scam. I just hope that the great security holes innevitably present in the poorly written (preumably poorly, i'd be delighted if i'm proven wrong,)  java client don't cause anyone to loose anything more than thier own foolish 'investment' into a this rubbish.
The team behind it do seem to be very active promoting/spruking this unethical crud, so i'm sorry to say that this coin will probably actualy do well increasing in value even further in the short term, profiting those who time it well. Regardless, I'd not touch this crap myself, for a large number of reasons, too many to bother listing.

Just remember, the most effective scams are the scams where the scammed think they are the ones doing the scamming, too busy focusing on not blowing it themself, to notice any giveaway tells from other party, and too greedy to excercise caution if they do notice something amis .

Well that's just my <i>'totally an expert after half hour reading, barely related to the subject, opinions of others only slightly more informed than myself'</i>, opinion anyway.
19  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The biggest problem with cold storage wallets is making sure that your address.. on: December 06, 2013, 08:37:16 PM
If you're doing cold storage and think that somehow involves Bitcoin-Qt you're doing something very wrong.

Use Armory for cold storage.
What's wrong with QT? It has been audited to an extreme. Armory is great with the paper wallets but putting a wallet.dat into cold storage should be ok.

I recommend against just using the wallet, dat file for your cold storage, as the wallet.dat format may change in future client versions, possibly loosing compatability with the current file layout (berkleydb vrsion incompatibilities, or dropping bdb entirely); making it a pain for you to read the keys from it.
Just dump the privkeys (or evern better, theres a dumpwallet command addded to bitcoin client which dumps out the wallets whole keyppool in a nice table for you).  and save that for storage,  pipe strait into openssl, or gpg, or whatever if wanna store encrypted or just to aviod writing raw key to disk/stdout...
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OSC] OpenSourceCoin released 9/9/2013[SHA-256] on: September 11, 2013, 01:24:40 PM
So 'OpenSource' coin is only available as a windows binary, or a zip file on google docs... you should seriously chuck this up on a git repo or similar. For sake of the name alone!

As it much less accessable without a source repo, (simple 'git clone <repo>' VS... open web browser just to click through google docs script/gui to fund link to actual zip file download, browse to download dir, extract archive to source dir.
Zip likely destroyed file permissions/lastmodified , cant check recent changes/edits to the filess i guess, no modifydate on files and no versioning repo.

And if i find bug in code then theres no way for me submit patch without having to post code blocks on forum, too hard.
Etc etc.

Just pointing out that 'OpenSource' Coin is a lot less open (its barely open at all) than any of the projects its code is forked from are. Would be better named potato coin, now that would be a good coin for sure!

The worse crime here is that my simple shell script  to do all that for (clone, build, copy bin, copy config template, altcoin all setup and ready to go) wont work without source repo, and i cant be bothered myself.
My time is much better spent trolling the forum thread instead!

Sorry, rant over.
