1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bad Code Has Lost $500M of Cryptocurrency in Under a Year on: February 13, 2018, 08:48:51 PM
In my opinion ALL of the > 1000 Alts are rather the result of missed financial/fame opportunities than a real technological progress.

Couldn't agree with this more. I get some people have had great ideas, I believe ETH is one of them, but SO many alts are just guys/teams with a get rich quick plan.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the cryptocurrency industry need? on: February 13, 2018, 08:43:12 PM
Not sure if many people will be on the same side as me on this, but in my opinion crypto currency needs a stable value. Of course BTC/ETH/alts all have their important uses at the present time but paying for things with an asset that can be worth 5% more or less in minutes just isn't viable.

The idea of investing in crypto is mind boggling when you really think about it. Everyone screams we need a decentralized currency but a HUGE % of those people are just invested in ___coin & want to see its value rise so they can cash out back to fiat. I'm holding BTC not because I believe in it taking over fiat, but because I believe it will continue making me money.

What we really need is a coin anyone can easily buy, has a static price to only be adjusted for inflation by some sort of distributed consensus, and of course it needs to be easily accessible/understandable to non technical person - it needs to be as easy as setting up a phone service account with AT&T and paying the bill.

I'm sure there's probably some alt coin that accomplishes some if not all of that, i haven't seen it yet.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: J.P. Morgan, BOA and Citigroup - credit card blockade! on: February 13, 2018, 08:29:41 PM
As said already chargebacks are a key issue but there are two other issues, point/rewards programs & cash advances.

If you buy a bunch of BTC on your CC you're earning points/cash back depending on the cards reward program. Sell the BTC before price changes & you wind up with enough points for a free flight/cash back/other rewards.

Similar issue with cash advances. If you use a CC to buy BTC, sell the BTC for fiat, then pay back the CC at some point with that fiat, you preformed a cash advance without the bank being able to charge their ridiculous fees on it.

11  Economy / Speculation / Re: BUY OR SELL on: October 17, 2017, 03:58:34 PM
I'm by no means a professional trader so take what I say with a grain of salt.

It seems like people buying up BTC to get as much Bitcoin Gold from the upcoming fork is playing a huge part in the price increase. We saw pretty much free money given from bitcoin cash, people are banking on that happening again. You'll see on the 25th after fork time is announced what BTC starts dropping to as the people speculating BTCG will be free money quickly cash out of their BTC.

I'm holding my BTC simply because I'm in it for my business & need to always have some, however i'm hoping to be able to cash out some before the 24th & buy back after the 25th as I'm anticipating a sizable drop.

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Authenticator or Authy on: October 17, 2017, 03:11:43 PM
I am using google auth.

As somebody posted here before, read this links:

Authy VS Google authenticator(r/androidapps): https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/64xkkr/authy_vs_google_authenticator/
Authy vs Google Authenticator - Coinbase(r/bitcoin): https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5ol41r/authy_vs_google_authenticator_coinbase/

Welp.. looks like I'll switching back to google auth after reading those. Thank you.

I've known authy isn't as secure but I guess if someone can get a hold of my number i'm in a worse situation than I was when I lost my phone.

I'd use this as a full screen display if I could replace the news feed with another chart
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold will be another Bitcoin Cash? on: October 17, 2017, 02:55:22 PM
I feel like the majority of people hyping it up are just trying to up the value for the first few days to get some free cash from the fork.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Authenticator or Authy on: October 17, 2017, 02:51:20 PM
I've used both, but I prefer Google Authenticator. Just don't make the same mistake I did. I thought that like other Google products, it would be backed up if I did a factory reset on my phone - that is not the case. If you don't have the backup code for a website or exchange written down somewhere, you're more or less screwed unless you can get the support team to remove it from your account. This usually results in your account being locked for some arbitrary time frame.

Moral of the story - write down those codes and keep them safe!

This is why I switched to authy. Lost my phone & laptop, couldn't restore new phone as backup was on the laptop. Was an idiot & didn't print out the recovery keys. Took me about 3 weeks to get access back to everything & then set up in Authy.

I'm assuming your investor also knows the local regulations & requirements for running an MSB.

Why is an investor who knows the space & has the capital joining you? What are you bringing to the business?

Of course there will always be demand for the business, if you've got a solid team & great marketing i'm sure you'll do fine.
