Leos, do you have test software running under Linux?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining , still worth it? on: May 06, 2018, 09:22:04 AM
what is your average cost for electricity? I'm really wondering if in Europe we still have countries where electricity is cheap enough. In my case, electricity costs around 0.3€ (network cost included). I used to mine by using my extra output from solar panel but now I have used up this extra output and I'm waiting until my meter goes back to where it was.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much would it cost to start mining??? on: May 03, 2018, 11:00:03 AM
Hardware is one thing but you should not forget to  check how much you pay for electricity as it may ruin your profitability on the short term. You could always say you're there for the long run but whatever you do, those electricity bills will need to be paid Sad
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multiple gtx 1060 mining, what do I need in a motherboard? on: April 12, 2018, 07:06:19 AM
If you want to maximize the potential of your GTX 1060, you should use the Asrock motherboard (see my signature) where you can plug up to 13 of them in one rig. The whole setup can push you around 300Mhs. If electricity is not an issue for you, you should mine as much as you can because difficulty is not going to go down.

if you want, I'm selling some of my GPU as electricty prices are killing my profitability:

I still think it is worth it. depends on your strategy though.

I checked my pool address just now and I am expecting 1.9 ETH a month (went up by .09) and I pay $230 for unlimited electricity for my house. I know this number can fluctuate based off of difficulty.

I am not worried about the price per ETH at this moment because I am still making close to $800/month at todays prices. I am mostly mining for the coins at this point though. I am looking for a big jump on prices throughout the year and will sell at that time.

What kind of setup do you have to make 1.9 ETH / month?

out of curiosity, where do you "fish" those other more valuable coins that are not on whattomine.com ? Smiley
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU MINING FORECAST 2020 on: March 23, 2018, 07:33:12 AM
There is a lot of negative press on cryptocurrency and governments are trying to apply some pressure here and there, this will make predictions very difficult, it can go in any directions. It's an emotional thing because it's in the hands of normal people like you and me (or I suppose so). You may be betting on spikes but without knowing if those spikes will ever happen.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG to big for 1060 3g on windows on: March 23, 2018, 07:29:05 AM
maybe a stupid question, is there no way to put this additional memory need on the onboard gpu and leave the other GPU alone?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG to big for 1060 3g on windows on: March 19, 2018, 08:04:06 PM
is the memory reserved for all cards? From what I see on Linux, only the first card is getting close to the limit, the system doesn't use additional memory for them.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Urgent HELP Selecting Hardware (PSU) on: March 07, 2018, 09:19:34 PM
why don't you give a try to a server PSU ? They usually offer much more power for a decent price. I paid my 2400W PSU something like 140$ and at least it's made to be running 24/7
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DAG file on 3 GB card Limit hit it seems . on: March 02, 2018, 07:22:40 PM
Under Ubuntu, I can still use my GTX 1060 3Gb without any problem. Cards are using 2.7Gb out of 3Gb available. I suppose Linux takes 300Mb, is there a way to reduce this ?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What minimum fan speed do you set your GPU rigs to? on: February 21, 2018, 09:15:53 PM

I've had many GPUs survive 4+ years of high-load usage running in the 70-75C range.
Targeting 50C is WAY excessive, and the only cases of 50C GPU temps with 50% or less fan I've ever had were on gear in an A/C room on risers, or the "outside" card in a "no case" rig with all cards on the MB, or a rig with ONE card in it - and the card was set to run at "efficient" settings.

Water cooled/hybrid is another story, water cooling the GPU is a lot better at keeping the temp down - at a significant cost for the higher-end cooling solution.

Were those AMD or Nvidia cards? I wanted to be on the safe side with 50°C but as it doesn't affect performance, it can't be a bad thing.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What minimum fan speed do you set your GPU rigs to? on: February 20, 2018, 09:05:14 PM
wow 60-70°C for a GPU, seems very hot. Has anyone ran such temperature for more than a year? I keep my GPUs around 50°C (or even lower in some cases) with a fan set to 50%.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best Speculative Coins to mine with GPU Rigs for 2018 on: February 20, 2018, 08:47:07 PM
if you want to exchange your coin in money directly after the payout, you should aim for the most profitable coin (and probably change every day). If you want to hold, then you should select a coin that has the highest chance of survival because there are already too many different coins on the market and many of them will fail sooner or later (if not all of them at some point). I believe coins like ETH have this longer term potential.

What I also did is investing a low amount of money every month buying some low value coins knowing that they may disappear but if one of them hits the roof, you easily get the money back. I bought XRP when it was below 1$, went up to almost 3$, good deal. With the benefits I bought other coins of a lower value.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need review on build im planing to buy on: February 20, 2018, 08:39:02 PM
Okey guys, thank you for all our answers. Yes i notice that i choose wrong RAM after i post this post.

So if i will go with DDR4 (as it should be of course), change power supply to a better ones. Will it work fine?

To connect power supplies i already have an idea how to.

Risers from aliexpress are good, but it's ~3 weeks of waiting + Chinese new year so it can go up to 4-5 weeks i guess. Here in my country there are plenty of resellers who bought at ali and adds just 2-3$ profit. so i can buy on a little higher price but in 2-3hours.

Indeed, risers from China will take much more time to arrive. For the PSU i bough a server PSU to power all GPU and a smaller (and cheaper PSU) to power the motherboard because high power (non server) PSU are very expensive.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need review on build im planing to buy on: February 18, 2018, 10:03:56 AM
for that price you could buy a server PSU, those are built to last longer and are usually more powerfull. I got a 2400W PSU for around 100$.
You could find cheaper risers from Aliexpress too (see signature for mines), same for SSD you don't need a big brand.

I have exactly the same motherboard, you'll need to find risers that are not too big because PCIe slots are really close to each other.

GTX 1060 was very interesting up to some weeks ago. I got my last one around 170€ but now exactly the same are around 300€.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASrock H110 Pro BTC+ 13 GPU Board on: February 16, 2018, 08:40:28 PM
Has anyone managed to use M.2 port with a riser? I bought one on Aliexpress but my GPU is not detected.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Most Efficient GPU for Mining on: February 16, 2018, 08:39:09 PM
There are a couple of them on P104-100 on Aliexpress and I have requested some prices from B2B providers too. If you can buy such a card for less than 600$, it's probably a very good deal.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Most Efficient GPU for Mining on: February 16, 2018, 06:48:02 AM
What about the P104-100 models ? Some people here have started buying them and are getting pretty impressive hash rates.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which currency should be mined now? on: February 15, 2018, 06:45:41 AM
you should use whattomine.com and enter your setup to see how much profit your can make for a particular coin. Of course, not all coins are there but that's already a start. For my setup (see signature), ETH is the best coin. I occasionally mine other coins when it's worth it but most of the time it's ETH.
