I don't understand how Poloniex can decide to freeze funds that were 'stolen'? They chose to allow ETC, which is a similar situation, surely if they are being laissez-faire, they shouldn't freeze anything!
Do they now sit on these coins, or return then?
I agree with that PoV. how is it a simular situation ? the black hat hack coins have not been moved to the exchange as far as i know. and etherfork did know there is the posibility that the fork ends in 2 chains. and 2 coins. the new one Ether fork and the old one still same as befor fork etc. vitalik and co did know about that risk. vitalik as i understand was involved a lot in the discution on bitcoin for or not fork . where all this risks where discust. its also if you have not real consensu means all down to the basis do agree to the fork a fork will always end in 2 chains. its called a faild fork as i understand it. but its basic blockchain technique i was told. so why would etc be the bad coin ? just becouse it refuses to die ? and let see waht polo does if the black hat hacker wants to sell there. id say freeze it and report it. where i live it selling or helping to sell stolen goods is a crime- fencing or handling of stolen goods. therefor what polo did is legal now they have to tell what is the next step do they report ? cant give it back to the hacker for sure

and then there is the question about the power in africa if there is money to get there is always a bunch that collects it and the masses wont get any (see the roses biz) how will you aviod that ?
True, let em go without then. You know, where i am in Cornwall, we have loads of wind farms shut down. We make a surplice of power but there is just no demand for it. Also there is no way of getting that power up to London where it is needed. English Heritage would never give permission for pylons and transmission lines to clutter the beautiful countryside. It would be cool if we could offer free power to attract new businesses but that would be against EU law. Everyone has to pay the same prices across Europe, just to make it far. Renewable s are just a ponzi. The power companies just don't want to buy up the power. Moreover: if you have enough roof space to make good power, you are so rich electric does not matter to you. People will pay £50k in my road for land only just big enough to park a small car on (a car that cost £15k new on land measuring just 20ft by 8ft), and use it for nothing more than just that. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2239855/Parking-St-Ives-Trio-Cornish-spaces-sell-160-000-costing-house.htmlYou cannot buy a car unless you have somewhere to put it, its just that the space costs 3 time more than the cost of the car. yes right thats what i ment the power cartel i refuse to sell my power to them i rather have an heater/cooler run for my dog then spend it into the cartel grit. but back to your idea: its really a great one. how could a smart contract make sure its for the masses. and not the 1%? question i was thinking of getting a pc or what ever and try to mine i do have 5 kilowatthours left every day could i run a miner on that ?

Vitalik has been involved in earlier scams before the ethereum scam
He actually duped people into giving him bitcoin for "quantum mining"
Even Homero didn't lie that much
I didn't know anything about that. Tried to find some more infos and found this: http://www.bitcoinerrorlog.com/2016/08/16/vitaliks-quantum-quest/To be honest: I'm surprised! In my opinion it's about just two possibilities: 1. Intended scam? 2. "Just" naive? I don't know of any other rational possibility here. And both of the above would be negative. I go with "just naive". I do not think he intended to scam people in the beginning. Maybe he thinks it can really be done, which is naive or maybe it is just not doable to day and the idea is way ahead of its time. Recently I have been thinking the same of Ethereum whether the original or the fork. Vitalik himself might be starting to think that his platform is not viable for what he wants to happen. you could be right. i do get the feeling he already moved on. maybe he seeks a job with microsoft .... but thats just thoughts. he is a coder he is deep in his mind forming structures but i think he is not much in reality and if reality gets tough he tends to dive into code develeoping that calms his emotions. but thats just an impression i got .

I think this whole "decentralization" thing isn't really working out for you. But it's ok, maybe you'll get the hang of it eventually, or you could just use a credit card.
I see my sweet thing Suchmoon has moved on to bigger and better projects to wreck. How was your vacation? I hope you and your hubby had a good time. I wanted to show a picture of how things are in the Suchmoon household- I like it when you smile Suchmoon (and I really like it when you are angry) I can't really get angry at mentally disadvantaged individuals like yourself, just bemused is all. How long can you possibly stay butthurt about your piddly shitcoin scams? XPY died more than a year ago, BST - six months ago, ION is successfully fucking itself up without my help... am I forgetting something even more pathetic that I may have offended? And what exactly am I wrecking here? ETH? ETC? Not sure how I could achieve either, even if I tried. cmon guys, i dunno if this pic is really who its supposed to be and im not really suchmoons biggest fan...if fact suchmoon told me im their hobby,lol.... anyways...please delete the pic..no need for it here i shocked etc thread mod would paste the pic here. i cant believe you etc guys can turn on your own...suchmoon has been so helpful to you guys and this is what you do!! thanks Chill. I'm not anyone's "own" nor does it matter who quotes some shitdoxer or other. Let's get back to bad math and other assorted mudslinging please. i like your attitude thats the best way to deal with a stalker about the subject we are all seeking a new way of law then investigation is what threads like this do a sumary of facts not so much facts and opinions . and also rumors with time the facts become clear. and its decentraliced which is good but it would need a more structured form any ideas ?

When price hit to 1ETC=1 BTC?
20/02/2020 This was on the Dev Channel. It may interest some https://steemit.com/ethereum-classic/@prophetdaniel/ethereum-classic-community-dynamics-proposalI will take some of that nurturing from nature, a good read ============================================================================================= I got this idea for an algo. I'm just brainstorming here, feel free to rob my idea, I have plenty more. The algorithm is called Proof of Light (PoL). I'm not going to get too technical here so it will be easy to under stand I hope. You know that some people rent mining hash power from Iceland and get the rig/ASIC pointed at a pool of their choice to get coin? Well its a bit like that. You see I was going to put solar panels on my roof of my home. You can mine the sun and power your electrical stuff but my roof is not too big. If you have a big roof you can have loads of solar panels and you can put power back in to the grid and you get paid by the power company (a centralized entity) in fiat . So what if I got together in a group with others to put solar panels on a school roof in Africa where there is more sun. The power coming from those panels would belong to the group. We could give the school an allocated amount of electricity to host the panels. The surplice power could be sold to the villagers for Etc. The villagers can get hold of some etc from mining it with PoC but other people will get better tools that run on electric, they will make things, offer services and people will trade. Life will improve and the group that put the solar panels up will get paid in Etc. Proof of Light. This is how we can decentralize electricity production and remove the costs of transmition and also help developing countries as well as get some Etc back. We could have smart contracts to pay the group their dividend. Miners in the villages could pay their power bill via smart contract where some Etc goes to the group, the remainder goes to the miner. It will take time to grow but it is real world stuff, unlike that dao thing. i do have solar panels on my roof cant use all the power on sunny days have off grit batteries. but anyway your idea i guess is a good one. but you say you put them on a school in africa. and give them allocated amount. them have the sun and the space the group has the money to buy solar panels. at the moment both are useless but if they find money they can buy there own panels and the group would have to find new roofs why not make them partner 50/50 and then there is the question about the power in africa if there is money to get there is always a bunch that collects it and the masses wont get any (see the roses biz ) how will you aviod that ?

Eth has no trust left
Well, thats not correct. ETH devs arent trolling like a 12 year old. Sadly.. ETC is run by kids, thats why its not getting any traction. Better trolling than cheating and stealing. ETH is almost a private block chain now. It's run by VCs who make decisions to maximize their profit and Vitalik is a talking head for them. I'm sure it helps to get much traction. What does it matter what ETH does? You know what would have been real good? If ETC was a serious project from the start. Im sure we would see the price of ETC atleast twice what it is today. Instead ANY investors or ppl with money looking into this thread will turn straight back out again with "no way im gonna invest in that chaotic kindergarden". What does it make a serious project? A bunch of VCs with their money? A bunch of coders working for their pay? A lot of people shilling around on how great this project gonna be? Even Bitcoin didn't look like a real deal in the first years. Mk several things here fella...first the eth devs are busy trying to figure out how to cash out stolen money and hiding because they know what they did is wrong on several levels, including illegal I know your sensitive about the whole prison thing but it is a reality in their lives right now so..that brings up point number two, the reason it matters what eth does is because most of us were supporters of eth, myself from the start, I got mine cheap and alot of them. Go back and find (if they are not rolled back, as in deleted) the original premise of Ethereum. Now fast forward to altering the blockchain, poor dao coding that they threw the entire community under the bus to try and salvage their and their friends money, white hats goddamn Robyn hood and arrogantly talking about it like they were cool, now denying any part in any of it after getting caught trying to sell stolen tokens (not even a real crypto anymore). Sorry but if your going to defend this horseshit, you haven't been in crypto long enough or your only interested in what's best for you, or your dumb. I don't know or care which at this point. So you can say etc isn't a serious project or call me a kid, I'm tylerderden, I'm not even real, but the fact is etc is eth. We just chose to take control from the greedy and try and make it what it should have been if it were not for greed. That right there is everything this entire crypto community stands for. So good luck winning this argument with anyone but the few dumbasses still cheerleading the "foundation" i just read this: is this true ? have you heard of it ? http://www.bitcoinerrorlog.com/2016/08/16/vitaliks-quantum-quest/he calls it a scam

Yesyes.. i know this one will be deleted like MOST of the posts in this thread. Just a shame.... "immutable" my ass. I agree with you. It is better not to attack the ETC and ETH each other. They use the same technology. The only difference is that hackers controls a lot ETC. plus a lot of those hackers are eth devs as alex van de sande said. you know most etc holders do also hold eth but didnt dump them or say eth is a scam we all just say what was done in the last weeks was not honorable they shall come forwart and do the right thing. you know a fork means always there is a second chain maybe. its called a failed fork. why getting so upset if it has become real ? some of them just stamp there feet and cant acept .

I believe that the most famous persons behind ETH and ETC are currently Vitalik Buterin and Barry Silbert. I'm not sure why, but lately they are both too silent on Twitter.
Anyway, are there other articles/statements to support the OP's claim?
It is all over reddit. I believe someone from the Ethereum foundation answered some queries over there or something. I'm not sure. Vitalik and many others have already said they will be 100% on the Ethereum ETH, they will have nothing to do with ETC. They quite rightly don't want to be associated with the ETC criminal coin. I support this moral stance like any rightminded person would. but why do your "rightminded persons" now need the assistance of a lawyer to give back the white hat hack coins? and none of us keeping quwestioning there acts do need one ?

Still putting ETC in a bad light? Why dont you understand? Everything u say will affect ETC.. everyone knows who you are and what you stand for. Yelp, people behind ETC (amateurs) broke the 1st rule of crypto-currencies: 0% litigation risks. Every business litigation I've ever heard about, has too so material benefit and material harm to original business versus the clone-business. This is an open and shut case: when it comes to ETC! gosh you made my day with this post. laughing still lsughing. you really put litigation risk on the plate ? are you kidding? who is on risk ? the whtie hackers ? real world law enforcement are after them. or does a innocent doupt free person need a lawyer adviece how to go forwart. lol gosh you are really in a dreamworld . still cant stop laughing lol

this shows why so many are pissed off about the leading of ethereum hard fork ether was such a great invention and they messed it up for greed. https://medium.com/@jackfru1t/the-robin-hood-group-and-etc-bdc6a0c111c3#.bjmsnuql1many ETh holders watch and want to see how they will clear themselfs from lets say the ones with a broken moral compass. and those eth holders do hold etc too. and are glad to have them i spoke to some i know and they are pissed off about the foundation and that vb isnt speaking or clearing things. etc is also his child . for them its like one baby has to die to keep the other alive . for them if one has to go it is eth fork . but would perfer both to grow. know why ? its a lifetime oportunity to see what happens if A is done what happens if B is done. some in this thread seem to not understand open sorce. you dont own ideas . no more copyright. if you are good you succed if not someone else who is good will take the idea and make it a succes . thats open sorce. every one can play around with it.

what do you think about the bitcoin meeting where only very few core bitcoin core developer and only a few of the biggest bitcoin miners were invited? Do you think bitcoin is getting more and more centralized? And what do you think about ethereum and the hard fork? I think that bitcoin and ethereum are going to become more and more centralized because of the economic model behind them. Bitcoin is deflationary so the people who have the most money will be rich in bitcoin too. And in ethereum it is similar. In both systehms there are no mechanism to prevent that rich people get richer without producing something usefull for the people like food, produkts or work for the people. Bitcoin is like gold and ethereum is like oil the only diffrent is that bitcoin and ethereum are virtuell so it is not like gold or oil it is not real. It is not doing something good for the people and it doesn't support people who do something usefull like producing food. Those systems are only for the richt. The poor can't profit from those systems. Yes transferring money is going to become cheaper with bitcoin and smart contracts are going to make machines going to be more independent. Bitcoin is a store of value really? You shouldnt store your money in bitcoin you should invest in your local community so the money circulates this is why money is nice because money is only alive if it moves. And why is ethereum inflationary? Does it make sens? Why does ethereum not have a negative interest instead of a inflationary system. If it would be negative interest the money would be easier to control. It would be easier because you could vote who will get the money. the money which get in there would always stay the same. In an inflationary system the economy has always to expand which is not good for enviroment. In an system with a negative interast and a fix ammount of money the exconomy doesen't have to get bigger it only can get faster and more efficent. The circulation speed of money is the key of economic success.
Some valid points, the biggest thing about ethereum is pos at least bitcoin doesn't pay the people with the most even more money..., those dev/white black Robyn hood buterin foundation people holding the most, they will be the ones who get the majority of the stake from pos. People haven't caught on to that yet. PoS coins don't work, Crypto is about mining, alot of other stuff too but pow is a must for this to work. This is a great analogy. Although, I think POS is going to be more energy efficient and faster, but only in mass adoption scale. Someday. PoW is empirically verified and has ecological validity, i.e it has proven to have worked. PoS on the other hand is still experimental. Moreover: there are new emerging types of PoW. Proof of Capacity for instance (PoC), which is very energy efficient to the extent you can mine with a smart phone. This will allow Ethereum Classic to extend into underdeveloped countries like in Africa, Asia, South America. The current direction of ethereum classic is PoW/PoS Hybrid. (Dash has just become PoW/PoS Hybrid. If you stake 1000 Dash, you get to be a validating node and earn revenue from transactions ) If we offer both we will attract supporters of both How we will build Ethereum Classic? Decentralised Communication & Society Decentralised Law Decentralised Production of Goods, Services & Energy Decentralised Monetary System just to add some thoughts: law: executive, legislative and judicative have to be separeted and independend. as we can see where it leads to, in the ETHfork case, if it is in the vitims or in one hand. about POS vs POW or what the community will decid. i understand why miners at the moment see the importanc of there work as very high and for sure it is. but as the crypto grows this will change. massadaption. to make it a fair system where every one has same value in a vote. we need to find a solution taht pays the miners for what they do now for the system and will keep them an income in the future. but i belive in the future people on cells and tablets or watches will mine. pow/pos is surely a good compromis till the masses are ready . i dont think pos is posible at the techniqucal standart we have at the moment.

I read that Poloniex is consulting with their lawyer to decide what to do about the froze ETC token, any update on this so as to help to decide what to do with my ETC token
I think that Poloniex is making the same "error" as the Ethereum foundation, namely by having an a priori neutral platform make "moral decisions" they get involved. Ethereum was not involved in the DAO problem as long as it was neutral. By getting involved, ETH is now mixed in with all the hassle and failure of the DAO. Poloniex was just an exchange, and is now acting as a judge over what is right and what is wrong. They will end up in deep doodoo if they are not careful. This is like a phone company suddenly not allowing conversations or altering conversations because the content of the conversation is immoral/illegal according to them. From the moment they do that, they become responsible for all content. there error is selfjustic just like ethereeum did they have to do a report thell law enforcment why they had frozen the acounts and leave it to them but it seems no one in crypto wants to do that.

ETC Supporters, if you think that the foundation should be tried by a crowd jury follow this link http://crowdjury.org/scroll down and fill out the quick form. I have requested that the ethereum foundation be tried by crowd jury for "the Hack of the Dao" The People vs Ethereum Foundation. Compensation to be paid in crypto! This is from their website EXAMPLE WrongdoingMatt, a civil servant, discovers that this boss, the Secretary, takes bribes from government contractors. ReportMatt reports the offense in CrowdJury.org. Evidence DiscoveryEvidence (photos, docs, videos) are stored in a secure vault. Other witnesses provide additional evidence. Fact CheckingFacts are checked by self-selected experts from the crowd. TrialThe trial takes place online and is broadcasted to the public. Any user can interrogante the defendant and comment on the evidence. VerdictA collective jury of randomly selected users decides whether the defendant is guilty or not. CompensationAll who helped by reporting the wrongdoing, gathering evidence, checking facts and voting as jurors are rewarded in Bitcoin.Absolute transparencyEvidence and jury decisions are recorded in the blockchain and are fully auditable. Wow, so many re-posting of past posts with a few word changes and multi-colour text! Might as well join the re-posting club The DAO tokens investors' own lots of Ethereum - probably up to 50% of Network Value. Throwing "The DAO" tokens investors, under the bus, as the couple of people behind ETC keep saying: is never gonna workEverybody has got to try to win together - as group of investors and miners and developers. Ethereum tries to leave no man or woman behind. The origins recent policy of the Ethereum Foundation is what we human beings are best at doing. You don't repair a car engine, when it stops working properly, by gawking at it and shrugging you shoulders! You dismantle it piece by piece (the proverbial rollback), find the broken piece and re-assemble it with a working part (the proverbial Fork). And you get on with using your car again! you just dont get it . ethereum needs honorable people. not liars and hackers who hide there acts. lets asume it was all done in the best intent and ligaly no problem. then why not come forwart with the facts why not announce what is planed. and if it is legaly corect why not say hey i was the white hat hacker ? you know why. becouse it was a crime. and to know no crime is on board with the ethereum foundation we need the names of the hackers. most who hold ETH do also hold ETC. and i guess none of them wants ETHleading power to be in the hands of a liar or a hacker. its not about eth against etc its about getting trust back to the leading.

The actions of the White Hat Group (WHG) have been shrouded in mystery and it is time for this once-necessary precaution to come to an end. Transparency matters to all of us. Previously, it was deemed unwise for the WHG to elaborate on the details of the situation while the salvage operation was unfolding, to prevent new and old attackers from knowing their movements to better understand how to attack DAOs. Now that the community is questioning their actions and intentions, we, at Bity, feel it is necessary to share the details of what the WHG has been dealing and living with over the last few weeks. the need to add this reddit of alex here the links https://www.reddit.com/r/EthereumClassic/comments/4wnn3k/alex_van_de_sande_uavsa_and_the_rest_of_the_robin/d68wfenquote: Also, even the small part I did, I acted as an individual, not as part of the Ethereum Foundation. I never told Vitalik about my plans and when Ming, the Executive Director, asked me about it I refused to tell her, so that the Foundation wouldn’t be in any way implicated or active in this.so ming did know something was going on. or suspected something. he sais here he talked aobut it with her. what exatly did she ask? and why did she let him get away with not answering ? to avoid harm from the foundation ( and i guess thats the job of an executive director too) she should have called a meeting and stop alex? Last time I spoke to the White Hat Group about the status they had told me the attacker was able to run off with a big part of the funds and while they had recently won some battles, the funds were far from secure as they were still aware of possible attacks – which is why I didn’t want to make any public comment on that matter, otherwise the attention could jeopardize this whole thing. IMHO part of the reason they were more successful now was because the DAO had less value and was under a lot less scrutiny since the fork, I doubt such attack would be successful had the fork not taken place. so he speaks to them ! he knows how to contact them ? he knows there names ? quote: I do not know what they intend to do now and I learned that the recovery was successful via reddit like everyone else. While I believe they have the best intentions they are also at risk for a lot of legal troubles and costs. On a personal note I’ve lended them DAO tokens for the attack, which I haven’t seen since. I’ll be asking them for the eth-dao to be returned, but I’m donating the etc-dao to them.he sais he wasnt involved but lending tokens to make the hack posible is being involved or am i in alice in wunderland where big is smal and crime is good ?

I don't give a f*** what are they going to do with my etc. I support dumping etc and exchanging them for eth but polo f**ed up everything. Polo also took all dao tokens which are on ethereum classic and they don't want to send them back to owners. If that's not manipulation becouse leaders should be honorable people. no doupt about them. you say you are ok with how they acted. but what if next time you are the one to suffer from the decitions they make. are you then ok also ? leaders shall not use criminal or douptable methodes to solve problems. its not about should they have done anything about the hack . its about how .

either alex van de sande lies or bity.com lies becouse alex said on twitter dont panic we secured the dao founds and he also said on twitter and as i recall redit. he gave the white hat hackers his tokens becouse they needed some to drain the dao. what is that ? not involved ? for me it sounds very much involved . ALEX VAN DE SANDE MADE THE WHITE HAT HACK POSIBLEand Alex is close to the foundation or did he quit ? ALEX GIVE US THE NAMES OF THE WHITE HAT HACKERS ! you gave them your tokens so i asume you know them. if not then show how you comunicated with them. put facts on the table . make the whole process public. for the the truth and for your reputation. be transparant about the whole case.
