1  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: [Selling] My 5970s oem and sapphire brand from my 8gpu farm going offline. on: May 10, 2011, 05:47:25 PM
My plan is to use a priority via usps as it tends to deliver faster in general because I'm on the west coast. I've pmed back with the details and response to your offer and my shipping location as well.

I just wanted to update the thread. I sold one of the two sapphire 5970 today locally to a fellow who I think is gonna mine with it. Smiley

So currently only 3 left for sale. 2 oem 5970 and 1 sapphire 5970. The Sapphire will come with original box if needed. Thanks for looking.

Do they come with anything other than a card? like boxes and w/e else?

I do have boxes for the sapphire one if the buyer wants them.

I can also throw in 1 dummy plug for each card that I made. Have some xfire bridges as well. Just let me know and I will include them.

what's the hashrate of the rig/card?

It depends on how you wanna run them and most all 5970 will put out the same Ghash at same clocks. Miners also play a role here a bit. As for me I just ran all of them at stock volts at 800/300. I think I was getting around 333Mhash per gpu core give or take a few. The cards should have no problem clocking higher with more voltage, but I just left them stock running at that setting as is. I can tell you they are 100% solid at my setting and have plenty more room as I was more heat/space limited.

I also took the liberty of taking the card out for a moment for a quick cell phone photo session. Forgive my out of focus cell phone picture.

I'm planning on bringing down my mining rig that is currently running 4 x 5970s on it in couple days and decided to list them for sale. I don't really want to sell my miner, but I'm looking at deployment to a new location for a job in a week now. Maintaining this while away for few 4-6 months on the job is not possible for me.

2 of the 5970 are sapphire brand and other two are both oem plain looking ones without a sticker. All have been running great without any problems tucked away safely in the garage for many months now.

I will price each at $525 btc equivalent. If you wish to pay in usd contact me to work out a payment. Paypal will NOT be accepted. $20 discount per additional card ordered after the first for buying multiple. All reasonable offers will be considered, but lowball offers will be ignored.

I will ship the gpu's on Tuesday afternoon after the rig is brought offline in the morning. If they are not sold by Tuesday, I will ship next day or same day as payment to not delay your mining profits. I will also consider other methods of shipping if buyer specifically requires at additional cost to the buyer.

For upto date price agreement and payment offers contact me via pm. Thank you for looking and please keep any non related comments out of this thread.

EDIT: Price now changed to $525

EDIT: Looks like BTC price is moving so I suggest use the highest bid on MtGox as a guide instead of my prices if it is inaccurate.

EDIT: One sold locally, another currently pending payment at 115btc based on today prices. Two Oem versions left @ $525 each or 115btc.
7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: multiple workers with deepbit on: May 09, 2011, 06:46:42 AM
I'm not sure if this is something you want to hear, but cpu mining should now be producing a net loss no?
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Super Mining Rig W/ 6 GPUs. *Just theorizing a build* on: May 09, 2011, 06:44:53 AM
I currently own a machine that has 4 x 5970  and I think going with dual gpu card is really the way to go if you are planning on future expansion. Personally this one rig served me well and I'm planning to sell it shortly before the next huge jump. But if I had to build rigs now, I would for sure go with a dual gpu cards from the start if possible.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: ATI Video Cards... Series 5 vs Series 6 on: May 09, 2011, 06:30:01 AM
Are they really going for that much right now? I have been considering finding a good time to get most value out of my 4 x 5970 mining machine I have been running. This might be a good time to do it with a huge difficulty increase. Been considering just getting out of mining and enjoy watching my btc value go up and becoming more of an ambassador.
10  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: my 6990s are @ 90 degrees celcius on: May 09, 2011, 06:24:18 AM
It's only going to get hotter, but you can always adjust your core clock and turn it down a notch if it must be. There are always options to keep it running within reasonable temp, but you just might not like the ghash out of it. Ambient really is big part of keeping temps low regardless of fan speed after a certain threshold.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Why governments like inflationary currency on: May 09, 2011, 06:16:13 AM
Governments do not like inflationary currencies (they loose power from them and they know it) .. they're just to stupid to know what real money is anymore .. they .. like most people are brainwashed idiots that don't want to think.

How do they lose power from them?  It's the greatest thing ever to be able to spend counterfeited money first.

Simple .. people hate inflation .. they hate their labour and skills having no value .. they hate having to earn more for less and they (rightfully) blame it on the governments .. and no longer obey it ... so the governments loose power ............... when the people are happy with a government (see Alexander the Great outlawing Fiat for Gold/Silver/Bronse) they obey the governments commands with less resistance .. the government gets more power, and a stronger nation.

People hate taxes more.  And most people are oblivious to small levels of inflation, or accept it as natural.  Sure, if you go overboard, you can destroy the government.  You have to steal just enough that no one cares what you are stealing.  Take a few pennies from a lot of people and you become rich.

Printing more money to pay off failing banks that never pay back is stealing from people? And you say because this devalues everyone's dollar they already have to do it? I never thought people would figure this out. Not that it matters because public education is so deteriorated to a point that it is impossible gathering enough educated people to care or initiate change in the US.

I guess it nice to worry about problems that don't exist yet, but makes you feel good worrying about  Wink
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Legal Thinktank weekly meeting in New York City on: May 09, 2011, 06:08:08 AM
I would love to hear more updates on the discussions that take place. This thinktank could really act as an important guide to help bring the bitcoin to the mainstream in the right way.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: How Much Of The World's Gold Was Mined Before People Started To Think Of It As $ on: May 09, 2011, 05:59:36 AM
We will have to see how the analogy really pans out, but it will be interesting to see a digital gold rush or coin rush rather.
