20 for Hackathon and 40 or so for the introduction class

Theres a good bunch in Dublin growing each month. We're going to run the intro class at least once at month going forward and a workshop type class to give people practical skills. If you are based in Dublin please come along

Cheers

11  Bitcoin / Meetups / Dublin, Ireland Bitcoin Meetup - 12th Sep on: September 08, 2013, 09:48:55 AM
Next Bitcoin Dublin meetup is happening in city centre on 12th Sep at 6.30pm @ TCube, 32-34 Castle Street, Dublin 2.

Event will include a joint talk about Bitcoin(details below), a proposal for a Bitcoin hackathon weekend, Bitcoin beginners classes to be discussed as volunteers needed(we have found a free space to use), and of course further discussion in Bull & Castle

Content of talk
Michael Clear & Donncha O'Cearbhaill will speak on cryptography and security aspects of Bitcoin

Michael will look at Bitcoin from an attackers perspective, assuming ideal software implementations of Bitcoin, so the scope of attacks considered will be on the protocol and the crypto schemes used. Time permitting, Michael will give an overview of attacker models and double spending attacks, and look at the security of the crypto schemes used in Bitcoin. Some reasons will be considered as to why these particular schemes were chosen and why specific parameters were chosen.

Donncha will focus on the applied security for Bitcoin, giving a high level overview of how Bitcoin keypairs and transaction signatures allow Bitcoin "ownership" to be determined. Donncha will give a tutorial about how to make an offline wallet and securely send coins by signing a transaction offline and then broadcasting it, must have knowledge for those serious about Bitcoin Smiley

Thanks, seems like a low turn out so far on the poll so hopefully that picks up  Smiley
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Is there a demand for a high-end non-anonymous escrow service? on: June 18, 2013, 03:57:38 PM
Hello

I've been looking to find out more about Escrow and I noticed that a poll was conducted nearly two years ago by a user, so I thought I would try to see what peoples thoughts are using the same poll. Things have obviously moved on, however the poll asks a very valid question. Perhaps there are other things people would like in escrow?

I am looking at creating a totally transparent service as there seems to be a lack of one for people to use, please message and correct me if I am wrong. I am looking at this with some Bitcoin enthusiast friends as a response to what I see as a lack of a service. If we decide to launch we will be very open and transparent about our own identities and services. I would appreciate all feedback

Please let me know your thoughts

Best wishes

Thanks all, I suppose perhaps as I am new I would like the idea of a well reputed escrow as you mention. I see btcrow.com . Does anyone have experience using them? Or could someone please recommend one that you have had a good experience with?
