101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Insane amount of bitcoins on: August 31, 2011, 12:55:46 PM
Can you please explain for us "Non IT" what is IOC/iceberg and how does it work? Is it open source?

PS. I am a professional forex trader and EA developer for MT4 and MT5.

Yes, this doesn't bode well for the mighty Bitcoin corporation. Oh, wait...
103  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [600 GH/s] Eligius pool: ~0Fee SMPPS, no reg, RollNtime, SQL, hop OK, 8decimals on: August 25, 2011, 08:22:41 AM
Is there a reason payouts are not being sent???

104  Other / Off-topic / Re: Eligius miners aware of prayers in block headers? on: August 24, 2011, 09:16:05 AM
Hmm. What happened here?

Indeed...  tin foil hat time...  what did we miss?  You dont have to release details but please tell us the gist?  Exploit in lukes pool or with bitcoin?
Had nothing to do with vulnerabilities in neither Bitcoin nor any pools, just an inconvenience on some platforms. If it's even possible to pull off it's a 3rd party fault, so I don't see the harm in disclosing it.
105  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is Atlas dead or not on: August 23, 2011, 06:52:12 AM
Still here. Why isn't he flagged as a scammer after all his donation schemes?
106  Economy / Speculation / Re: 8/22/11 Speculation Thread on: August 22, 2011, 06:12:05 PM
Plan:

Get $110,000
Send to MtGox
Place huge buy order
Pray it doesn't get bought
Huh
Profit?

No - it involves a bit more complicated plan - and it could work, but actually it does not seem likely any more.

And yet this is what happened.  Anyone volunteers to explain the 'Huh' there for those left behind?

It's probably more like this:
  • Sold an imperial ton of BTC on the way up to $32
  • Never withdrew all USD from Gox (tax shitstorm and all that)
  • Still holds lots of coins and want to keep the price up
107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin value about to drop to...nothing.. on: August 22, 2011, 12:02:03 PM
You heard it here first folks...  Wink
I could swear I've heard that before.
108  Other / Off-topic / Re: Eligius miners aware of prayers in block headers? on: August 19, 2011, 12:58:18 PM
I mine for Eligius as well and prayers have as much meaning to me as random data. If this keeps luke-jr working on Bitcoin projects I'm all for it. No-one can enforce political correctness in the block chain anyway.
109  Other / Off-topic / Re: Oldminer Statements Debunked! on: August 18, 2011, 08:07:27 PM
Why didn't this brilliant mind just put his initial capital in the genesis block instead of wasting months of time and power? Seeing his "i just managed to compile bitcoin, let's get rich"-scheme failing would have been sad if it hadn't been so hilarious.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Thomas Nasakioto" of ixcoin is OldMiner... on: August 17, 2011, 10:34:33 PM
I want to know who Mr Nasakioto's picture is, I've seen that guy before, and every damn time I see it I remember it but I can't place him. It's right there, but can't touch it.
Hiroyuki Sanada.

[...] the claim is laughable [...]
Indeed. You don't appear emotionally invested in ixcoin at all, despite being its only surviving proponent around here...
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Thomas Nasakioto" of ixcoin is OldMiner... on: August 17, 2011, 09:13:07 PM
honestly, i dont see why it would be relevant if old miner created it or not.

If the ixcoin code is maintained by the fellow who has a history of posting gems like this...

Code:
bitcoin.exe -addnode=69.164.218.197 -addnode=64.22.103.150 -addnode=173.242.112.53 -addnode=178.79.147.99 -addnode=184.106.111.41 -addnode=91.85.220.84 -addnode=173.224.125.222 -addnode=86.5.50.90 -addnode=178.255.199.86
What does this actually do?

...then it should be intuitively obvious to the most casual observer that this project is indeed--pardon my Portugese--a joke.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IXCOIN Crashes from 0.006 BTC to 0.0003 BTC on: August 17, 2011, 06:32:44 AM

What a fool he was... 100btc for worthless ixc... didn't he see that coming? ixc was a 100% scam from the start.

What, because the guy that designed it put some coins aside to promote it and offer bounties to develop the infrastructure around it?

Whoa, easy there, Edison! Really, "designed"? Auto-replacing "bit" with "ix" and changing one value is not designing. You didn't invent squat, and with the lack of knowledge you have displayed earlier, who'd trust you to responsibly maintain the code?
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I0Coin - ummmm... launched? on: August 16, 2011, 10:20:32 PM
Scam alert?

Anybody any clues. Trolls welcome...

 Cheesy

I've got 8 blocks mined already, the updated client is on the server, just not linked directly :x

and where do you find the link?

lol, that was a fraudulent post Cheesy

The actual client is available from the i0coin site now but it's binary so use at your own risk.

So you audit every line of code in the source before compiling then that must take a while, how long a job is it?

Just diff it against the mainline Bitcoin code base. Easy peasy japanesy!
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 16, 2011, 09:02:39 PM
  • Time zone conversion fail
  • No version tracking repo
  • Blob in zip ball
  • No base directory in source archive
  • Starting at difficulty 1(!!!)
  • Connects to single Freenode server
  • Offers nothing new over Bitcoin besides incompetence

Sayonara, Bitcoin, there's a new cryptocurrency in town!
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Ixcoin fork -> I0coin on: August 16, 2011, 07:12:03 PM
You got just what you wanted; nothing new.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cmon lets help ourselves on: August 12, 2011, 12:17:15 PM
Any cigarette smokers out there? If you haven't tried electronic cigarettes, give it a shot at my site.
I've always wanted to smoke, but nicotine makes my body revolt. Would you recommend electronic cigarettes for someone like me?

119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did anyone's technical analysis correctly call the drop from $13 to $5.75? on: August 08, 2011, 12:01:15 PM
we outlined in our subscriber newsletters that "a break below the meak or break trendline (running between 12.3-12.5 ee expect a drop to 5 - 5.8.

5.74 was the low then.

So your wealthy subscribers accelerated the panic by reading into your prophecy? (Not complaining, the more panicers wiped out the better.)
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ATTN: MtGox on: August 08, 2011, 06:29:39 AM
Bots have a distinct advantage over humans in trading.  Mainly speed and the lack of human error and time.
Humans are simply not fast enough to type in an order before the market changes.
Humans with their slow reactions and irrational feelings sounds like a much bigger problem for the market than fast and precise bots.
