1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Experience with MultiChain? on: October 01, 2015, 12:03:23 PM
bretty cool op

Yes, indeed. Unfortunately, not many developers have experience with it yet? :-/
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Experience with MultiChain? on: September 30, 2015, 03:05:13 PM
Anyone out there with some hands-on experience in MultiChain (www.multichain.com)?
3  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Fully operational GPU miner for sale on: July 18, 2015, 03:08:55 PM
Back when we were using the miner, it was certainly profitable.
The investment was paid back and we also made some profit with it.

Anyway, in the meantime we have sold the miner. It found a great new home :-)
4  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Fully operational GPU miner for sale on: July 04, 2015, 07:26:14 PM
Great, what is the hash rate of all these put together and how much do you earn when you run this per hour, please approximate it in USD.
The miner produces 3 MHash/s (each graphic card adds 500 KHash/s).
Profit depends on the coins you mine and the cost of electricity.
5  Economy / Computer hardware / Fully operational GPU miner for sale on: July 04, 2015, 04:40:36 PM
For mining scrypt based cryptocoins, such as Litecoin, Dogecoin...

The hardware consists of:
- 1x Z77A-GD65, Mainboard
- 1x Celeron® Processor G1610, CPU
- 1x DIMM 16 GB DDR3-1333 Kit, Arbeitsspeicher
- 6x Radeon HD 7950 OC Vapor-X, Grafikkarte
- 3x PCIe PCI-E Express x16 Riser Kabel
- 3x PCIe PCI-E Express x1 zu x16 Riser Kabel
- 1x G1600-MA-EU 1600W, Netzteil
- 4x 1-x 6-polige Kupplung / 2-x 6+2-poliger Stecker für Grafikkarte

We bought the parts in the summer of 2013. We paid € 2,380.04 for everything.

All graphic cards have been replaced once (because of heavy duty), but the miner hasn't run
for about one year now (because of electricity costs), so the current cards are still in good shape.

If interested, send us a message, and make an offer we cannot refuse ;-)

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Colored coins on separate blockchain? on: July 02, 2015, 12:44:21 PM
Thanks a lot for your reply, MarkM!

Nowadays, it is indeed very easy to create your own altcoin, but as you also suggest, one does need one or more dedicated developers to keep the software secure and up-to-date. For a small community, it would be great though to be able to create their own altcoin on a bigger blockchain, maintained by a bigger group of developers, on which not only that specific altcoin is running, but through which everyone is able to run their own coin. It will not be the technologically most advanced coin, but at least it could be decent, solid and your own coin could grow on it, without having to be dependent of another coin, like Bitcoin (or another altcoin), basically because of technical reasons (dust). To put it very simply, you don't want your community coin users to have to worry about yet another cryptocoin, even if it's Bitcoin. Of course, thinking out loud, one could just define their "altcoin" unit to be equal to 1/10, 1/100, 1/12345, ... BTC. Then, only your front-end applications need to change, but you would still be working in Bitcoin underneath. Does this make any sense?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Fairytale castle in Germany accepts Bitcoin on: July 02, 2015, 12:22:46 PM
Schloss Heinrichshorst is a small but magical castle in the middle of the woods surrounding the "Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide" near Magdeburg, Germany. It's a unique historical building from 1899, embraced by the beauty and peacefulness of the centuries-old forest. It's the perfect place for a summer retreat and they also accept Bitcoin!

At Schloss Heinrichshorst, they speak Dutch, English, French and German, so international guests are more than welcome.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Colored coins on separate blockchain? on: July 02, 2015, 11:48:38 AM
Does it exist, a colored coins solution that doesn't run on the Bitcoin blockchain?

The problem with Colored Coins today is that you still need some Bitcoin dust for every transaction, which is a disadvantage if you would like to promote the use of your own, small scale community coin. You don't want to force your users into having to buy Bitcoin (or any other crypto-currency) if you're trying to get them to use your own, community oriented altcoin (whether or not altcoins are a good idea, is not the discussion here ;-)

As far as we know, something like that doesn't exist yet. Or does it?

We germans need the good water for our wellknow german beer - you know "Oktoberfest" in Munich?
Originally we're from Belgium, so we know quite a lot about beer as well.
And yes, we do know about Oktoberfest and many other similar beer events in Germany.

But let's talk about beer in some other thread.

bugm, I'm sorry to say that, but you've choosen the wrong place in Germany. Welcome to the Sachsen-Anhalt! Lips sealed
So far, it has been quite disappointing, indeed  Undecided

I'm 100% sure it will not change anything, but will sign the petition.
Thanks a lot for your support!!
11  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Re: Help us stop the destruction of hundreds of hectare of woods in Germany! on: February 23, 2014, 08:22:06 PM
Read the  Trinkwasserverordnung.
Trust me. Tap water is the only "food" that they check every hour/every day for the quality. You dont need to buy bottled water here.
There are even a lot of cases that they found out that the bottled water has a worse quality then the tap water. The tap water is the best here. (seriously)
It's not that we don't want to believe you, but also believe us when we say that in our region things are seriously going wrong. Really. It is even calculated that, because of the mining residue, the "salty" compounds of the ground water may rise up to more than 10 gram per liter, while the currently allowed limit for drinking water is only 250 milligram per liter. That is quite a difference! And I'm sure they will do everything to get the percentages back within range, but that also costs money. On top of this, think about what the unfiltered contaminated water does to the environment. It's really destructive, especially over a longer period of time.
12  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Re: Help us stop the destruction of hundreds of hectare of woods in Germany! on: February 23, 2014, 07:56:12 PM
This is germany. We dont have  contaminated drinking water. Drinking water is the best controlled nutrition in Germany.  We have good filtres and cleaning technology.
We're happy that you see it that way. Where did you get your info?

I have a better Idea:
Lets ban all businesses from germany, because they pollute the air. Even if its just CO2.
Thats a great idea isnt it?  Oh shit - no jobs anymore...
Clearly you have thought this over...
13  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Re: Help us stop the destruction of hundreds of hectare of woods in Germany! on: February 23, 2014, 07:51:18 PM
What do you want to do with the money? How are you planning to "battle" them?
We are already hiring geological experts and lawyers to fight this on a national and European level.
If you read my first post carefully, you will understand that there are many subjects where something can be told.

You will destroy a lot of new jobs if you stop this project.
Not at all. Jobs are already at risk and alternative solutions could even promise work for a longer time.

This is really stupid- people complain about "finding no job"
Who is complaining?

but on the other side they try to stop every company from increasing business, building new power lanes, etc..
Increasing business at the expense of everything else doesn't seem right to a lot of people, including us.
Hey, and if it's all about getting maximum profit, maybe we should allow child labor again??

I bet that this company HAS TO plant new trees somewhere else...
Yes, of course, problem solved.

Drinking water of thousands of people contaminated? Not a problem!

But we get that you're seeing things differently, and we understand that as well, so let's leave it at that.
14  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Re: Help us stop the destruction of hundreds of hectare of woods in Germany! on: February 23, 2014, 07:24:14 PM
Das ist im deutschen Subforum und ihr wollt deutsches Land schützen?
Indeed, because we live there.

Warum dann das Posting nicht in deutsch?
Because we don't speak German very well yet.

Originally from Belgium, my family and I moved to this wonderful place,
which is now being threatened to be destroyed by a multinational.

Außerdem wie soll Geld dabei helfen?!
Our battle will cost a lot of money, so any financial support will help.

Hier versucht warscheinlich wieder jemand gutmütige Spender auszunutzen. Ich würden hier nichts spenden. Das Geld landet zu 90% in die eigene Tasche anstatt ins Projekt...
This is a real battle for nature, led by people who really care about this planet.

So we can promise you that every satoshi will be spent on our campaign against this outrage!
15  Local / Off-Topic (Deutsch) / Help us stop the destruction of hundreds of hectare of woods in Germany! on: February 23, 2014, 07:01:28 PM
In the neighborhood of the city of Magdeburg, there is a huge mining cooperation, K+S GmbH, who now wants to destroy more then 200 hectare of woods, replacing it by another monstrous mountain of "salty" mining residue, even when this is forbidden by the European union, claiming that there is no (cheaper) alternative, basically for not ending up in even bigger financial trouble than they're already in.

That the forest is a German "Landschaftsschutzgebiet", that animals living there are protected under European laws (e.g. FFH-Gebiet Fledermausquartier Bunker Dornberg) and that they're planning to dump their waste up until 500 meters from a beautiful fairytale castle (www.heinrichshorst.com) under German "Denkmalschutz", doesn't seem to be a problem for them at all.

On top of this, their current plans are threatening to increase the pollution of ground water, which serves as drinking water in the surrounding area and in the region around Magdeburg.

They're also stocking thousands of tons of "Sondermüll" (garbage which is dangerous for health and/or the environment), in abandoned tunnels that could otherwise be used to put back the mining residue. Keeping the situation at the mine in Morsleben, a nearby village (30 minute drive from Heinrichshorst) in mind, we fear that they might even plan to dump radioactive waste (they already have a railroad through the area).

So the situation really looks extremely bad!!!

BUT there are alternatives and we need to fight hard, in order to force K+S GmbH to change their plans!

We need quite some money to pay for geological expert advice, lawyers, consultants, et cetera,
so BTC donations at 1EqG6eKwLZiAcMZMJgq6K85JFpopHivrud are very much appreciated!!

Guys, they're not mining for coal, but for "potash", a fertiliser ingredient.

The problem is the "salty" mining residue, which already adds up to more than 350 million tons,
polluting the area and contaminating the drinking water to a very serious level (much higher than allowed).

The environment cannot handle 500 million tons more...
17  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Help us stop the destruction of hundreds of hectare of woods in Germany! on: February 23, 2014, 11:22:00 AM
Erm, let's not turn this thread into a discussion about nuclear energy.

We need financial help to fight against this multinational, who is destroying the earth, piece by piece.

So if you can help, by donating some BTC or by giving us some good tips for our battle plan, we will appreciate it a lot!

19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] CoinMap - Map showing places where Bitcoin is accepted on: January 28, 2014, 10:00:29 PM
Any idea why the Bitcoin and Litecoin logos are not shown on top?
Yes: because they are generic logos. Ideally they shouldn't be present on the map: they should be replaced by more specific ones.
Okay, I understand. Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Here is the white hash: https://github.com/prusnak/coinmap/blob/master/img/map/tourist_castle.n.24.png

I imagine it's due to the historic=castle tag.

Please note that the crypto-currency logos are generic, and they should be replaced by more specific ones.

Indeed, that's the icon.

Any idea why the Bitcoin and Litecoin logos are not shown on top?
