2461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: September 06, 2014, 05:34:32 PM
Not to go conspiracy theory on everyone, but does anyone get the feeling that with Cryptsy's huge stash of UNO, that there are forces at work to keep UNO at an artificially low value?

some of us thought the Uran-wallet was wolong. Then it turned out it was cryptsy. What if both is true?

Of course, all we know is that Cryptsy holds 50k Un.  Wolong could own 70% of that wallet, or 0%. We won't know until BW gets Big Vern drunk at a crypto convention.
2462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / UNO on MintPal v2 update on: September 06, 2014, 05:24:00 PM
Here's an update on the effort to retain MintPal Exchange for Unobtanium.

Today Moolah.io explained their policy on the addition/removal of coins.
I've submitted a request for the review of UNO (MintPal ticket #251198).

UNO easily checks off every box on Moolah's list.  After reading their requirements, I fully expect they will want to retain UNO.

Following a retention commitment from Moolah, the next step would be to move toward UNO as a verified market.

Thanks to everyone who reached out to Moolah/MintPal on behalf of UNO. There's still time if you'd like to help by opening a support ticket on behalf of UNO, or tweeting @moolah_io. I prefer to finish strong for UNO, rather than limp across the finish line.

I don't know if its a conspiracy, but the way it's traded at the moment is keeping the published price down. There are a lot of patient long term  accumulators.
There are shallow buy orders; the money pounces on any quantities that are posted right now. Buyers don't want to show their hand.   The sellers are slowly leading us higher and that has opened a gap wide.
2464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: September 06, 2014, 03:36:15 AM

I notice coins-e still lists UNO (something about a maintenance problem at the moment).

coins-e is 1 year old, is hinting at a new trade platform, has a confirms and status data page, and has never been hack thus far.

I hope Coins-e comes back. Their Un market has been in maintenance for at least 2 months. Uno isn't on the main page any more. No replies to my emails about Uno... I don't have any coins there now.

Maybe I'm trying too hard on MP; it's been a decent Uno market since it launched in Feb. We don't know what MP 2.0 will be yet, so I think we should keep it a while longer until we do.   Its easy to get de-listed, very hard to get re-listed.  I've said all along that Uno will be fine if it's not listed on MP, and we can get it on other good exchanges; but I and (I presume) other people here trade on different coins on MP as well, and it's nice to have our MP bitcoin accessible to a Uno market there.

It's up to the community of course -- either we trade Uno there or we don't.
2465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Nominating Hal Finney on: September 06, 2014, 02:01:10 AM
I would like posthumously nominate one of my personal heros who contributed significantly to humanity by contributing to two highly important technology tools that contribute to our freedom and our personal privacy: PGP and Bitcoin.

I nominate Hal Finney.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/31/business/hal-finney-cryptographer-and-bitcoin-pioneer-dies-at-58.html?_r=0

He contributed to a more secure world through his work on PGP encryption, and his pioneering work with Satoshi on Bitcoin has lead to this remarkable cryptoeconomy. He was visionary. He didn't need to be the lead developer, and was happy to contribute to projects he felt were important even if his own ego wasn't always front and center, as long as they matched his values.

ALS robbed the world of Finney's genius last week.  Should he win, and if his Widow is unwilling or unable to accept the award, I would encourage the community to give it to the ALS Foundation.
2466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / MP Pump? on: September 06, 2014, 01:46:50 AM
how long does one have to wait for at least a single coin being dumped on mintpal? Happens once a week or twice, right? Wink

MintPal's Uno market is not very healthy at the moment. 0 trade volume over 24 hours as I write this.  Not good.  Looking at the order book, I can see that a lot of Un fled MP since Moolah's unwise hint that it would be delisted.  I would like Uno to be there, but man -- they're making it difficult. With 100 confirms for new Un deposits and the delisting talk, it just felt unfriendly. Un has other places it can go. It doesn't hang around where it feels unwanted.

Maybe I'll dump on MP this weekend just to make it interesting and encourage some trading. How low should it go on MP? Get your buy orders up.

Or maybe it won't go down at all. Maybe I'll buy it up to .006 on MP.  Better get your sell orders up.

Something's going to happen on MP this weekend.  Someone's going to make some money there and I can promise you it won't be me.

Don't be a MarsupialKangaBear.... if you buy Un on MP, pls trade it on MP.

Click the bear if you would like to help keep UNO on MintPal.  (It's either a bear, or some weird Australian thing that lives near IMZ.  Maybe a marsupial kanga bear or something).

Update:
Lets not let up, but this looks like Moolah might be backing off a little on the delisting fever.

2471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Jswallet on: September 04, 2014, 10:00:11 PM
Have you seen Cryptapus' JSwallet hack for UNO? It's pretty cool...  http://cryptap.us/uno/jswallet

Also, check his other cool stuff for Uno. Dice and other fun games, paper wallet, explorer, faucet, vanity wallet, brain wallet, and pushtx.

We're lucky to have to have his interest in Uno.  I'm hoping he's winning enough off of me on Dice to make this worth his while, but just in case he's not you can tip him some Uno:   uQkoQyjd4K2ALowKnZuRMJxaemUWec9N5w

Thanks, Cryptapus!

...
And I re-re-re-crunched the numbers last night -- The Top Sixty:

...

But Unobtanium's chart is unique. It is the most stable established crypto of any sizeable market-cap.

m

That's awesome!  I kind-of knew that intuitively, without crunching the numbers.  Wink

Question to everyone:  Don't we have a special name for our UNO blockchain?  I don't remember what it is.  ~Grapevine or Chain Gang or something~?  I think it's from Blazr2 or maybe an IRC chat session.

The Un blockchain was (and still is in some circles) called the RockChain.

Our main blockexplorer used to be rockchain.info until it broke.

Just want to keep this alive since we only have a few days.

If you trade on MintPal and want to continue having access to Uno on MintPal, please read and take action if so inclined.

Holy cannoli!  I'm floored - I was just browsing through my old files and found this rubicon gem of vintage Unobtanium history!:

Thanks a good story! Smiley  And those prices were at a time when there was probably less than 20k Uno in the world. Since then we've added 170k Un, and bought back the 10k or so stolen from CoinEx.
2475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Uno and MintPal on: September 04, 2014, 01:43:30 AM
I dunno about mintpal. I toss it around in the ol noggin every now and then. Given the limited availability of uno, is it better suited to a limited number of exchanges? I personally think less is more in this case. If people want it, they will know where to find it.

You have a good point. And I hope everyone realizes as you do that even if  Un loses MP, it will still be fine. I think MP has a lot of potential paired up with Moolah.io, and it could be good for Uno to be part of that.  But again if it's not, then Uno has other great partners it can work with.

Uno has a lot going on, and there is going to be another exchange in our near future (AltMarket).   Additionally, C-cex might still be interested in picking up Uno.

Anyone wanting to help, read this post and do what you can. If you're someone who trades other coins on MP, let them know that you also want to see Uno there.   I think it's worth a shot.

We'll know by this weekend.

Btw, MP has now reduced confirms on Uno deposits from 200 to 100. Still a lot, but much better.

2476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / UNO and MintPal v2 - Action needed on: September 03, 2014, 08:50:59 PM
Ok, thanks for the discussion around MintPal and Uno.

If you'd like to see Unobtanium continue to be traded on MintPal we have a little work to do, fast!
Although I'm confident Un will be fine without MintPal, I think the future is just that much brighter if it's part of MP and the Moohla.io payment platform.  Once off of MP, it will be a bitch to get back on.

Here's some steps we can do right now to try and influence their decision about Unobtanium:

Trade
This week, trading Uno on MP is  like casting a vote. Show your support by trading.

Comment
Go and comment on their blog post. Don' be rude, please, but state that you like to trade UNO on MP. Explain that UNO is a rare coin, and sometimes trades in low volume periods between higher volume periods.

2477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Should UNO be on MintPal? on: September 01, 2014, 11:12:01 PM

Let's have this discussion as a community.  Do you guys want to be on MintPal or not?

What I am observing is that UNO is hoarded, with periods of relatively little trading (such as now); and then there are periods when a lot of UNO changes hands in a short period.

I would Like to be on MintPal, they're still a major exchange, but I don't know what they're committed to these days. And besides me, there's not a lot of you trading there any more since the Vericoin situation.  And there's the matter of MintPal requiring 200 confirms for new UNO transferred to their site, which is a real pain in the ass and which has resulted in a lot of people just keeping away from MintPal.

So my two questions for you are:   1)  Do you want to trade Uno at MintPal?   2)  Do you think it matters if we choose not to be there?

UNO is a different kind of coin. We saved UNO on MP back in March.... I've traded probably 60-70 UNO worth of BTC there since then.  My opinion (and feel free to disagree) is that I don't think UNO needs to be on MintPal to survive.

With so few coins, I think we can do fine on two active exchanges: Cryptsy and Bittrex, and BW's forthcoming exchange. The more I use Bittrex, the more I like it. Bittrex asks for for us to average .1 Btc daily, which we easily accomplish.  I'm also supportive of Allcrypt and I hope their upcoming update can revive it.

What do YOU think? Do we try to keep Un on MP? And if we do, will you trade there?
2478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: September 01, 2014, 12:56:34 PM
What do you think of the casheer system, V 500?

http://forum.casheer.net/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=144

m

you linked to cgb. That is the right page, isn't it? -> http://forum.casheer.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8

great idea. Didn't know about it. That's by far more cheap and convenient to use than banktransfer if someone wants to purchase stuff from a merchant in a foreign country who does not accept your own currency.
Did you test it?

edit: you are active in the forum, right? Can you get Uno included?

This is going to be a project for us.  I contacted Casheer on Twitter last week and heard back from them. They invited us to start a thread on their forum about Uno. We're going to convince them to add Uno to Casheer.

I also want to do some outreach to companies who accept Coinpayments.net and ask them to add Uno to their accepted coins list. The more the merrier.

PM me if you'd like to help on either of these projects.

If this doesn't work out, consider making Unobtanium your official currency.  For that honor, we might even pay you. We love microstates!
