2662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Tatoo bounty on: June 10, 2014, 02:04:07 AM
I'll give 30 UNO to the first person who gets a real UNO tatoo so I can live vicariously through you.  I wanted to, but my wife wouldn't let me ("If you're going to get a tatoo, why wouldn't you tatoo my name, instead of a stupid invisible coin! (I dozed off right about then)."

Don't fake it! I can tell, probably.
2663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 08, 2014, 11:27:42 PM
That dump on Mintpal though, congrats to anyone with low bids down in the 2-3 range. Nice get.

Yes, that was good. It wasn't much UNO, however (seems to be only a couple of hundred uno).   But if someone wants to give it away, you may as well take it.

You guys are just being mean, though.  Look at those spreads! You're just letting the weaklings die.
It's funny to watch, but bad PR.

This is UNO Darwinism.

It's as though you know something the dumper's don't....
2664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 08, 2014, 12:43:41 AM
Sure. When we first launched Un, it was set up to make 6 halvings before hitting minimal reward, however as of version 0.9.1 that was revised to produce a meaningful number of coins until the 15th halving and then a minimal reward of .0001 that would persist for ever (or 51millionish blocks, whichever comes first). The breakdown is as so:

You can see Un will be mineable for a long time to come.

Ok, math has never been my strong suit.  But if I subtract block 50,000 from block 51 million I get roughly 50,950,000 blocks left to mine.
If we return to 3 minute blocks on average, that means we have about 152,850,000 minutes until we reach block 51 million. That is 2,547,500 hours or 106,145 days, or roughly 290.8 years until UNO reaches its 250,000 coin/kg maximum.  Is my math generally correct, or have my fat fingers once again let me down?

If this math is generally correct, UNO will be paying miners for the next 290 years, long, long after Bitcoin is mined out.  Someone embarrass me if I'm wrong here, but UNO will be paying a reward at least until June 7, 2304, at which time my great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grand children will still be running my Jalapeno.
2665  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 07, 2014, 11:13:31 PM
Don't even think about PoS Un. Seriously, that's bullshit--the point of Un when I released it was to NOT be Stake. Live with it for what it is, make it merge-mineable but too bad to those who missed the boat and want longer halving/more coins/etc.

+1. There's so many POS coins now. If want pos, there is a coin du jour that is offering it.  Doge introduced unlimited coins. Now we have unlimited coins on top of unlimited coins with POS.  It's interesting to discuss it, and I understand the concern around mining profitability. Merge mining might provide the answer to that. An interesting idea was put forward to work with other 3min sha coins to merge mine. That seems worth exploring further.

My hope is that UNO's price will eventually realize it's much-higher fair worth long before the 250k limit is reached, and that fees will provide the incentive to mine.  I think this has always been the one of the most interesting questions of the UNO experiment -- what happens when it's max number of coins is reached?

Blazr2, could you tell us more about when UNO is expected to reach 250k coins?  I don't have the hard facts, but I recall reading something -- I think on unobtanium.io which has now gone down -- that said UNO would reach 250k coins long after Btc had reached its max. I hate to ask you to repeat yourself, but could you tell us more about how UN will mine out, and when that might occur?

I think in a worst case scenario, where price falls low and mining incentive evaporates, a digishield/kgw implementation could keep UNO humming along on low hash power. Although strong hashing is proof of interest in a coin, it really doesn't require much hash power to continue moving the network, should mining incentives fail. Difficulty is a symptom of interest in a coin.  I vow right now to always keep a minimum of 6ghs on UNO until I die. Smiley  Seriously, I've been keeping a shitcoin alive called Swansoncoin; finally reduced it to 120 khs. I'm about to pull the plug on RON (because I don't have a commitment to it the way I do UNO), but digishield easily adjusts the difficulty when other miners join in. The network moves along just fine whether there is 100 khs or 100 ghs.

My belief is that the price of UNO will eventually rise meet its higher worth, and that mining interest will continue for a long time. But if I'm wrong, my little Jalapeno miner (35w) is ready to take over.
2666  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 07, 2014, 09:32:35 PM
Can I pick your brains over the size you guys would like for a hard wallet?

I was thinking a good size:
8cmx4cm and 0.5cm thickness.

Or would you like them smaller say:

4cm x 2.5cm x 0.3cm thickness

I'm leaning towards the smaller size as it would lend itself to being more like a medium of exchange. The smaller fits in the palm of my hands comfortably and feels good, the larger may be too bulky.

Here's a bar of the same size for an example:

Thoughts or suggestions?

Looks like a good size. I'd like to see the name "Unobtanium" on it, though.

2668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / UNO update? on: June 07, 2014, 02:19:14 AM
Hello,
Looks like the UNO Unobtanium price chart stopped on June 2, for some reason.

Can we also get the website changed to the community's new site, Unobtanium.uno  ?  The old site unobtanium.io is no longer updated, and is still controlled by previous devs.

New block explorer is http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/Unobtanium  (Rockchain.info is dead).

Thanks for a great service!

"So i would define uno as a store of wealth..."

This coin needs a campaign, needs someone to promote it full time and make the crypto-aware public take notice. We want people to say "I need to those..." not, "There no place to spend it!" Stop thinking "coin" and "money". Think value and future wealth. Perhaps this is the way to greatness for UNO.

What say you all?

Bob

What's the next step, Bob?  Would you lead it?

what we really need is a publicity stunt.  Something that journalists would write about.  that would be awesome.  not that i have an idea for one yet...

If you guys buy me a ticket to the next Super Bowl or fly me to Brazil for the World Cup, I'll hold up a sign on TV that says, "Hi Ma! Send UNO!" with my QR code on it.
2670  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 06, 2014, 11:26:41 PM
Geez, it's so quiet around here! I didn't mean to kill the mood. Cheer up everybody! It's the weekend, and UNO is up 17% Smiley
I enjoyed your post. Didn't kill my enthusiasm for uno at all.

I'm told the Linux wallet is progressing nicely, and may be available next week. No longer will that be a point of frustration for service providers and exchanges who want to offer UNO, but who struggle with the wallet.  That's all we need to get our new rich list & explorer online.

Good things ahead for UNO.
2671  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 06, 2014, 09:54:10 PM
I'm all about building the UNO ecosystem, including retailers who accept UNO.
Spend your UNO at Briehost.com.

"Hey FallingKnife,

My company is accepting Unobtanium payments through coinpayments.net for our OpenVZ and KVM VPS. I was wondering if you would be willing to add us to your services section of your Unobtanium Info & Discussion post. If not, would you recommend a way for me to get in touch with the Un community?

A little about us:

We are a New York based hosting company providing servers based out of Frankfurt and Los Angeles. Product lines include KVM and OpenVZ Servers.

Our goal is to provide the best and most straight-forward Virtual Private Servers money can buy. We accept Uno, Bitcoin, and Paypal.

Thanks for your help,
Brie Host"
2672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Coinnext Exchange Adds UNO Market on: June 05, 2014, 06:41:17 PM
CoinNext has added a UNO market.

https://coinnext.com/trade/UNO/BTC

I've not personally traded on CoinNext yet, but they have a clean interface and a nice selection of Altcoins.
If you trade on CoinNext, help rally their UNO market.

Decisive action. Cooperation between community and exchanges. Well thought plan that's ready to execute.  Great job!  I'll be watching your progress.
2674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / UNO Price on: June 05, 2014, 02:26:00 AM
Sorry to post so much today, but I did take a weekend off Smiley
A few people have PM'ed me to ask why I think the price of UNO is low.  First, thanks for giving a shit what I think. That puts you +1 over my wife and kids.

UNO is a great coin... All I can say when it's at 004, even after all of the recent good news is... do you have enough?  At it's worst just a few months, even after UNO had been quietly abandoned by its devs, .0039 was about the bottom.   So what's going on? Why is it hovering around .004 now?

This is why I am still picking up UNO at sale prices....

My belief is that Bitcoin's fast rise has sucked a lot of air out of the altcoin market; I'm convinced that's what's driving this. This is a cycle that will come back around. As I posted on another thread; if the Euro rises dramatically against the Dollar and you hold Euros.... it might be a good time to swap into dollars (doomsday scenarioists and dollar haters, you get my point, right Smiley ). Likewise, right now if you're holding BTC, you can buy more UNO per BTC.  Eventually the gap between uno and btc will tighten up.  This is underscored in the price of uno vs usd -- uno has held up against the dollar very well, even as the dollar has lost ground to btc.

I think with all of the recent good news that UNO has had, you know that its recent rise was not a simple pump and dump. Sure, there were some momentum chasers in the mix (as there always is) but primarily UNO rose on its merits, the value of an interested community, active devs, and interest from exchanges.  Yet, if someone had credibly told me that BTC was going to rise 70%, I probably would have held off a bit and bought more uno later, but that's how it goes here in cryptoland. No guarantees.

Maybe you have heard some of the speculation that UNO stolen from Coinex are being dumped on the market right now (estimates I heard are about 500 uno, or only about 3 btc). It may be true or not.  If the stolen coins are finding their way back to market, I'm glad actually: there are too few UNO to lose that many forever. Long term it would hurt us to lose so many coins. But if it's true, and stolen coins are really being dumped right now, then this is a phenomenally rare opportunity to buy UNO at unnaturally low prices. Again, I don't know if it is or not, but it's interesting to speculate. I just hope I'm not buying coins that were stolen from you.

So far, BTC has never been able to keep rising forever; if history is our guide, it will come back down again. When it does, expect UNO to rise against the price of BTC. If stolen coins are being dumped, then that will end eventually; would you rather buy cheap uno now, or sell your uno cheap?   When these events play out, I just hope you'll be comfortable in your UNO position.

For these reasons and others, I am very bullish and long on UNO.
2675  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Linux on: June 05, 2014, 02:08:42 AM
I'm told a Linux wallet update is in the works. That will make it easier to add services for UNO.
Mac lovers, we have not forgotten about you. Good things are happening/will happen for UNO.

185,000+ current UNO supply with less than 12,000 (12 ton) more UNO to be mined before "inflation mode" starts at block 612,000.  In reality even less UNO is available due to buy/mine and hold strategy.  Now may be a good time to get some.

Wow, now is a GREAT time to buy UNO.  Bitcoin's meteoric rise has sucked all of the oxygen out of the room for the moment. But it will come around again.... it always does.  The price of uno vs btc has dropped, but the uno marketcap vs dollars has not changed that much.   I hope people realize this.

It's as though the British Pound gains big against the USD.... it becomes a great time to convert your Pounds to Dollars. Likewise, convert your BTC to UNO. This is the way currencies (including cryptocurrencies) cycle.  Sell high, buy low.

Hey guys, I just noticed that the paper wallet generator @ http://cryptap.us/uno/paperwallet.html doesn't allow the creator to download the script for offline use. Anybody know how we can change this?
Hi Mean-Bob.
Why don't you send a PM through Bitcointalk to Cryptapus.
Let us know what you hear.
2679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 04, 2014, 11:52:43 PM
Maybe the order moved to MintPal. There's 582 uno sell order at .0043.
Whatever the source, it's uno that needs a good wallet.

I think its time to start buying again. This stalemate and low volume is getting boring.
2680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Unobtanium Info & Discussion on: June 04, 2014, 07:40:25 PM
hows the chances of an ant miner  on solo mine with this coin?
Chances are not very good. Network hash is way too high to solo UNO with an ant. I'd suggest mining a more profitable coin and then exchanging for UNO.
