1  Other / Meta / Re: [proposal] child board for hardware wallets in Alternative clients on: May 14, 2018, 06:55:01 PM
Sure, I see a lot of topics started about hardware wallets, software wallets and dozens of other things that have been explained over and over again. I see where you're coming from. I still think there aren't enough hardware wallets available on the market today to warrant a child board for this subject. A stickied post/megathread would be sufficient IMO.
2  Other / Meta / Re: [proposal] child board for hardware wallets in Alternative clients on: May 14, 2018, 05:00:08 PM
I don't think we need an entire child board for hardware wallet discussion. As far as I know there aren't even 10 hardware wallets out there, and maybe 3 of them are actually worth anyone's attention. Let's get back to the subject in a few years.  Wink

Did you see the sticky on top of this board? You pretty much have it all explained there:

Trezor would be my personal choice.
4  Other / Meta / Re: Chatbox here in forum on: May 04, 2018, 10:22:24 AM
Maybe you couldn't display signatures or earn merit points, but you could by all means flood the chatbox into oblivion with links to malicious websites. Mods are already busy as it is and it would be near impossible to keep up with all the potential action in the chatbox (and leaving it unmoderated would be a bad idea). I don't think we need a chatbox here.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to post my original article to COINTELEGRAPH website? on: April 30, 2018, 02:36:43 PM
No worries mate, glad I could help. I just tested the SEND button in multiple browsers and it looks broken indeed, so hopefully you'll hear back from them via e-mail. Good luck!
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to post my original article to COINTELEGRAPH website? on: April 30, 2018, 12:50:30 PM
Have you tried submitting your articles via this link already https://cointelegraph.com/submit-a-post ? Alternatively, you could shoot an e-mail to editor@cointelegraph.com and inquire about the possibility of working with them. Unless it's a press release you want to publish, then you need to pay 1-2 BTC.
7  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: buyaccs.com is a cheater on: March 28, 2018, 06:13:05 PM
Please move this thread to the scam accusations board here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0
8  Other / Meta / Small cosmetic improvement suggestion for Ivory Tower on: March 28, 2018, 06:08:51 PM
The board's description states: "Even more serious discussion. Members and above only. No advertising of any kind. No junk posts."

While in reality the rules say otherwise: "You must be at least a Jr Member to post in Serious Discussion, and a Full Member to post in Ivory Tower."

I realize it's not very significant, but could we have the "Full" part added to Ivory Board's description to reflect the actual requirement?

9  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Wife wants half of my cryptos and wants me to sell half of all our holdings now. on: March 28, 2018, 05:50:20 PM
She didn't put any money into it it was my hard earn money that I had to risk.
That's the most important part here. She has no basis to demand that you sell something that she's not legally entitled to. It's your money and entirely your choice what to do with your investment. The thing is, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't like to hear the truth about her not having any say in this. I understand that the situation is complicated and your goal is to avoid escalation. So why don't you try an approach where you show her something like this:

In March 2010, 1 Bitcoin was worth $0.003
In March 2011, 1 Bitcoin was worth $0.83
In March 2012, 1 Bitcoin was worth $4.92
In March 2013, 1 Bitcoin was worth $47.41
In March 2014, 1 Bitcoin was worth $662.57
In March 2015, 1 Bitcoin was worth $200
In March 2016, 1 Bitcoin was worth $382
In March 2017, 1 Bitcoin was worth $1290

Now onto March 2018, 1 Bitcoin is currently worth ~$8000, don't you see a clear uptrend here, honey, why not give it another year?

There's historical price data available on a large number of sites, I'm not pulling these numbers out of my ass. You can show her charts and use the March example. If you have food on your plate and are able to pay rent & bills, then this is a further argument to present against selling now.

I hope it helps, and I hope you're able stand your ground without any turmoil in your marriage. Good luck.
10  Other / Meta / Re: I had to fill in 9 captha's for entering forum. on: March 28, 2018, 05:30:28 PM
This might be a browser cache issue (or not, this is just one of the possibilities). I've had this problem before with other websites that require captcha. Curiously, some sites will never let me log in with Firefox, but always work with Chrome. Try accessing the forum in a different browser and see whether it improves for you.

On a side note, I think this thread belongs in Meta.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Moderation on the Forum on: March 28, 2018, 08:59:45 AM
You might want to start with reading these stickied theads:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1689727.0

There is a certain period you have to wait after posting before you can post again. Your reply that you mention was most likely removed because it was considered low value. Look at the amount of ICO pumpers and other spam and tell me again how censorship is an issue here! Just be patient, you will rank up with time and all these restrictions will become less and less annoying.
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I buy bitcoins at 9 dolars each! on: March 27, 2018, 03:31:18 PM
I checked your posts and you're rude in every post. How are you contributing? How is your post not a shitpost? C'mon man. If you don't like something then move on. This sort of stress is bad for you.
I am rude in some of my posts. If you really checked my history, then you'd find the answer to your 1st question. Another way that I contribute is reporting people like you, who clutter this very forum with unnecessary, low quality posts, just like yours. Most often I report & then move on, occasionally I'm going to leave a message just like the one you called a shitpost. Compare your posting history with mine and think who actually brings more value here (refrain from posting your thoughts, you are more than welcome to keep it to yourself rather than keeping this now useless thread active.

1 bitcoin for $10? What is happening? Is this possible?

Nothing's happening, someone just decided to dig out an old thread and revive it to score some activity points, you can move on.
13  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk forum, hardly access in browser! on: March 27, 2018, 01:10:24 PM
How come you managed to post this thread then?  Huh
14  Other / Meta / Re: There is no notice about our post & reply on: March 27, 2018, 12:29:20 PM
I think it's completely redundant, since there's an option to show new replies to your posts. Why would you single out quoted posts? Often people will reply to your post in a given thread without quoting it.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I buy bitcoins at 9 dolars each! on: March 27, 2018, 11:57:15 AM
Please don't bump these very old threads with such low value posts. All new members are aware that Bitcoin started with "free" coins from mining, and the sale of coins for a few cents or dollars.
I already reported this moron a few times today. This isn't the only thread he did that in + if you check his post history, he's flooding the forum with mediocre shitposts to increase his activity.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Ethereum can beat the Bitcoin price in future..?? on: March 26, 2018, 08:16:39 PM
It is the toughest question I have ever found in this forum.
LOL you must be new.

My take on the question in the OP: not a chance.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good place to ask about articles on economics of crypto? on: March 26, 2018, 04:14:40 PM
It might seem like a crazy idea, but have you considered the Economics section?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Walleting.Services] AUTOMATED Fork Extractions: BCH BTG BCD SBTC BCX UBTC BTF on: March 26, 2018, 11:39:32 AM
It could be very useful If you could list the dates and block heights of the occurrence of each fork in your site too. That way, no one will bother typing his private keys/seed If he knows that he have nothing there.
You can just use http://www.findmycoins.ninja/ or http://btcdiv.com/ and find out what forked coins you can claim for each address within seconds!
19  Other / Meta / Re: Lauda still on DT2, engaged in tax fraud RE mod income, extorted member RE same on: March 23, 2018, 05:38:55 PM
Still this thread not reached to FBI, but ill submit it to FBI and CBI.nic.in as one Indian here said same thing retarded.
20  Other / Meta / Re: How to determine the need for new local boards on: March 22, 2018, 05:15:39 PM
That would place a heavy burden on the shoulders of staff.
Which is kind of the opposite of the "semi-automated" system I propose.
I can't argue with that, it would require some work, but in my opinion it would also bring (much) more accurate results. Also, I am pretty sure there would be plenty of "volunteers" that would give staff a hand in identifying twinks.

I can agree on that. Which is why I personally would vote for certain local boards, even if they're not in my language.
I certainly would myself!

Buying merit just to upvote a local board?
Well, if it's worth that much for someone, I guess he'll have a good reason to have that board, so why not let him have it?
Sure, that might even make sense, but then again we're back to the issue of most newbies not having the possibility to vote at all if the vote is merit-based!
