Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ¤ DMD Diamond 3.0 | Scarce ¤ Valuable ¤ Secure | PoS 3.0 | Masternodes 65%

Just thought I'd let you all know...
The old DMD v.2 block explorer expired four days ago, has entered the grace period, and will be taken offline once the grace period expires (unless someone pays to keep it up).
If you want to export records for any addresses you have with transactions on the old block chain, you will want to get on it ASAP. It's very easy to export CSV files. Just make sure you first show all transactions, then export the CSV file, save it, and voila, you have records for each address. They could come in handy for determining cost basis for tax purposes and whatever else.
The v.3 block explorer starts with whatever your balance was when v.2 was snapshot, and shows that initial balance as a deposit on the v.3 block explorer, so you really do need to get complete records from the old block chain.
You can also get them from the old wallet, but I've generally found it easier to work with data that got exported from the block explorer than from the wallet data.
I'm thankful I got on my own record keeping now before the old explorer was retired. Just figured there might be others like me who might want that data. If you do, you should get it now.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs

This morning I wanted to sell a small amount of DMD Diamond and buy DNotes. DMD Diamond trades on BitTrex and DNotes trades on Cryptopia. Normally I'd just send out the BTC from the DMD sale to Cryptopia. But it wasn't a huge amount to begin with and would have been substantially reduced by BitTrex' BTC withdrawal fee of 0.001 BTC.
Over the past couple days I noticed a pattern with the NEM market. It seems to hit very close to a Dollar in the night (I'm in the Western Hemisphere) but then drops down to around 85 or 90 cents as the day goes on. Based on this pattern I decided to go ahead and buy XEM with my BTC on BitTrex and then send it to Cryptopia. It cost me 4 XEM to withdraw it (so less than four Dollars). I figured I'd wait until late in the evening or early the next morning to try to sell that XEM for a little higher than what I'd paid for it. It turned out that for whatever reason XEM was going for higher on Cryptopia so I was able to sell at a good price (relative to what I bought it for). I paid 5518 satoshis for the XEM and sold it for 5793 satoshis. I was also able to sell some stray XEM that I had stuck in my Cryptopia wallet from a previous trade made many months ago. Cryptopia currently charges 15 XEM for withdrawal so there really isn't any realistic way to get the XEM off the exchange other than selling it.
The end result was I got my DNotes bought at far less cost than it would have been to have just stuck with BTC moving from one exchange to another. I might have even made some money on the arbitrage, though it really was a small amount of XEM I was buying and selling.
My point in sharing this is to mention that for right now at least, XEM makes a nice gateway coin when you need to send funds from one exchange to another in order to sell one coin and buy another.
And for anyone here wondering why I didn't just HODL the XEM I bought, don't worry, I have plenty of XEM I'm hanging onto. In this case I used XEM as an intermediary coin and it worked out well for me. I may do this again.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: chainz.cryptoID.info - Alternative Blockchain Explorers

I really got to know your block explorer through tracking my DMD coin transactions. I especially love the feature that allows me to export all the data into a .csv file which I can then import into Excel and then put in whatever format I need for further analysis. I have a request: Could you please add support for the following coins: NEM, NXT, STEEM, SBD? I know all those coins already have their own block explorers but they're not as easy to work with as yours. Also, the service I use to analyze my data, CoinTracking.info, already uses your API, so it would be easier to grab data from the use of those four coins through the Chainz explorer. Thanks so much

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can bitcoin cash surpass bitcoin in the future?
|
on: December 20, 2017, 01:30:35 AM
|
Bitcoin has first mover advantage going for it, and that's wearing thin, especially now that the founder of Bitcoin.com just publicly dumped all his BTC for BCH.
The problems with Bitcoin are real. It takes way too much electricity to run the network. Block time is slow. Transaction confirmation time is slow. Blocks can't fit enough transactions to really scale. And on and on...
Honestly, Bitcoin Cash should have been the new Bitcoin, but the core developers and miners couldn't agree so instead we have them both.
Will Bitcoin Cash replace Bitcoin as the number one cryptocoin? Not necessarily. There are other more established altcoins that have better technology and use far less electricity than either BTC or BCH. They also have accomplished some really cool stuff and have great development teams and communities. I don't think it will necessarily be one coin at the top either.
A few coins I'd keep an eye on are NEM, DASH, IOTA, DNotes, DMD, STEEM. Some of these coins are way undervalued right now, which makes them good buys. Others are in the process of finally being recognized and their recent price increases are showing that.

I'm pretty sure this coin has been abandoned, though I hope I'm wrong. Around the time NXT was a big thing I invested in two spinnoffs: FIMK and NEM. At least one of them was a winner, but it wasn't FIMK.
Fortunately you're wrong I thought NEM fell. Your insight regarding FIMK was still good. I don't expect many of the original investors to have the required patience though. I'm still holding FIMK mainly because there is no place to sell it at any kind of decent price. I still have more than my original investment, though, so I would love nothing better than to be proven completely wrong, and I'm open to that. There's room in my portfolio for another winner So, please tell me all the ways that I'm wrong about FIMK. In the mean time, where is the best place to keep up with current FIMK news in English?

"You raise an excellent point here. I'd never actually connected the emerging Bitcoin derivative market with its high transaction fees." That is a really good point. The current futures market itself doesn't have bitcoin transactions, but this is just the beginning of long stream of cryptocurrency related financial products coming to market. There may also be bitcoin futures contracts taken out by those that are perhaps hedging their bitcoin holdings, or want some exposure to it and for one reason or another can't hold it themselves... yet. When these derivatives and other financial products start holding these currencies, the volume of transactions will go through the roof. The futures market is an expensive place for speculation, with the price of one contract (Cboe) equal to the current value of bitcoin (CME Group's contract is equal to 5 bitcoin). With a 44% margin, and margin calls if the price goes down, it is out of the affordability picture for most people. Things will settle down with more competition and the possible addition of mini-contracts. When products resembling mutual funds arrive on the scene, I think we will finally see true mainstream adoption. More futures trading is arriving: "TD Ameritrade, the largest futures operation of any online brokerage, is going to allow bitcoin futures trading on its platform starting Monday." https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/15/bitcoin-futures-are-about-to-get-another-big-boost.html I always laugh when I learn about all those Bitcoin related financial products that I can't afford to get into if I wanted to, especially when I realize those products are built on the activities of people just like me over the past eight years. After all the ways that cryptos have made me richer, I'm still priced out of so many crypto-related financial products coming on the scene. It's just weird.

Wow, you guys are really stepping up for me. Great discussions. Thank you.
The commitments have been made. We are now actively working on our funding using Reg. A+ mini IPO Title IV Tire 2 to raise up to $50 million from accredited and non-accredited investors worldwide next year. This is a big project that need a lot of professional involvement, making it quite expensive. Accordingly, we are considering offering a Reg. D 506 (c), available only to accredited investors to fund the mini IPO. This is a common strategy and encouraged by the SEC.
I am extremely busy focusing on the most critical issues and getting the most important things going as quickly as possible. We have already retained the services of Laura Anthony of Legal & Compliance, LCC and I will be selecting an accounting and PCAOB auditing compliance firm next week.
Joe and I have been combing the entire Chicagoland area in search of the best software development team to work with us. We will be interviewing several companies that have expressed a strong interest. We are also planning to hire one or more qualified software engineers as part of our expansion project.
Yes, we are totally committed to making DNotes a technology leader. This is a multiyear project aimed at creating a fully integrated ecosystem most favorable for mainstream acceptance of DNotes. Our priority is to launch DNotes 2.0, migrating from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake. Following that multiple projects will be initiated to work in parallel with strong emphasis to support NextGenVC and our clients.
NextGenVC’s core mission is to assist early growth stage, and established companies with great growth potential but constrained by other issues. NextGenVC has multiple missions: raise adequate funding to solve multiple deficiencies; introduce clients to digital currency and blockchain technologies; revitalize corporate culture and more by the book “Improve Your Odds – The Four Pillars of Business Success.”
DNotes is uniquely different. It is more than a digital currency but a complete system with many critical parts. I can not solve any of the Bitcoin problems as they are, but I am confident that, having been built from the ground up over the last four years, DNotes will solve most of the problems inherent to Bitcoin and other digital currencies. DNotes will prevail because of our clearly articulated vision and relentless commitments. It has not been easy to understand the DNotes' business model, but it wouldn't be long. Many other parts are coming together to form a clear picture by early next year.
That's great news to hear that things are moving forward. I'm not an accredited investor, but definitely would like to participate in the mini IPO, so please keep me in the loop as that gets closer to launching.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Women in the cryptocurrency industry
|
on: December 16, 2017, 03:06:13 AM

now women are active in every work sector.they have more ability to handle any kind of work.
So, what you believe that they will be highly active here also. There might be women in this industry but I think the ratio will be 97:3 for male and female here, as everyone knows women are not much into investment and stuff all over the world. Basically men decide the distribution of funds, leaving that women are goal oriented and already busy in their life and much more factors. Considering all these things one can easily there might be few women here but men outnumber them with a great difference. Actually in developed nations, men might still be earning most of the money, but women definitely decide how to spend it running their households and so forth. Also, women can be very savvy investors because they make connections that don't come as naturally to men.

Where there are women, there is a lot of attraction. And when bitcoin and women are put together, I'm sure there will be a lot of interaction in it.
Perhaps that explains the most recent price rise. A critical mass of sisters has finally been reached?

https://www.investing.com/analysis/6-cryptocurrencies-putting-bitcoins-rally-to-shame-200273068NEM is now the best performing crypto of the year in a year of complete and utter insanity, and it may well have been last year too but I can't remember, yet still your average dogshitcoin gets 20x the number of threads here than NEM. It's fucking weird. More for everyone else of course but I'm beginning to wonder whether it's some sort of crypto neuralyser that wipes minds from afar. I've wondered that too. I know of a few extremely solid coin projects that get zero press or hype and the coin is majorly undervalued while practically worthless coins are soaring pricewise. The good thing about that phenomenon is that it gives me plenty of time to solidify my position in those solid yet undervalued coins. If they were priced what I think they're worth I probably couldn't afford them.

16.3 million Americans buy and sell bitcoin frequentlyhttps://finance.yahoo.com/news/16-3-million-americans-buy-sell-bitcoin-frequently-181415210.html" Cboe’s bitcoin futures are on track for a stellar first week, the CME will launch its own contract Monday and Nasdaq plans to do the same next year. Still, 74% of adults have never used the digital asset at all, according to a new Morning Consult survey.
Meanwhile, 5% of Americans — roughly 16.3 million people — are buying and selling bitcoin frequently. Given bitcoin only hit mainstream mania this year, it’s safe to say we’re far from peak adoption." I may be highly opposed to how some derivatives function, but there is no denying that regulated derivatives exchanges will be a great option for people who want to speculate on the price of Bitcoin. This will become more evident when the cost to buy and transact with BTC itself, becomes out of reach for the majority of individual investors. Not trying to spam the thread with posts here guys, but I wanted to bring up the increase in cost of Bitcoin transaction fees over the last year. https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/bitcoin-transactionfees.htmlDec 8th 2016 average transaction fee - $0.26 USD Dec 8th 2017 average transaction fee - $27.20 USD Any thoughts on the implications this will have on the industry? You raise an excellent point here. I'd never actually connected the emerging Bitcoin derivative market with its high transaction fees. I personally do not speculate on the price of Bitcoin, other than trying to time my moves into Bitcoin and then into USD to coincide with Bitcoin going up (rather than down), so I didn't think of the transaction fees in those terms. But it is true that Bitcoin futures allow for people to speculate all they want on the price of Bitcoin without actually having to move Bitcoin. I guess whatever fees the normal derivative exchange they use is fine and familiar, but the price of moving Bitcoin would represent what seems to be an extra and unnecessary burden.

Just noticed today that Craiglist.com now has a button you can check that says “cryptocurrency ok”. It brings up all the stuff listed where the sellers will accept cryptocurrency for. It was interesting to me that the box said “cryptocurrency”, instead of “Bitcoin”, or even “bitcoin”. What also interested me was the number of items that the sellers would accept Bitcoin. Was a lot! I think that sometimes, when we are immersed in our industry, we tend to not recognize how the public perceives this industry, and we sometimes miss, or underestimate the impact cryptocurrency is making. I, for one, continue to be amazed at how much John Q. Public really does know about Bitcoin, in particular. It seems to be catching on quicker that I imagined.
Smokey
It certainly appears the mainstream audience is starting to recognize more and more that there are other solid options aside from bitcoin. Bitcoin is of course still the industry leader, but I do remember when people wouldn't even talk about anything aside from bitcoin. Then it became all about blockchain, and don't bother unless the conversation includes blockchain. Now we may be reaching the period where the whole industry is being recognized and people are realizing there are a lot of options and choices. This will be the perfect time for DNotes to really start to shine. Yes, let's have DNotes shine big time... after I've managed to buy a few more
