2  Economy / Services / [UK] Co-location mining services on: January 10, 2012, 12:08:04 AM
Just proposing an idea I've just had. Basically, I live in student accommodation, and everything is included in my rent. Would people be interested in co-locating a rig or two? I live in Nottingham, and this is something that I would be able to do for the next 6 months.

The accommodation I live in is private, so there's no intrusion by university staff. I'm a Computer Science student, and I used to mine myself before I had to sell my rigs to purchase a laptop for university. If this is something that you might be interested in then please feel free to drop me a message and we can discuss prices.
3  Economy / Digital goods / Re: MuffinCoin.org, BitBitBitBit.com, and other domains for sale on: June 25, 2011, 10:10:59 PM
That's the equivalent of £1000 for those domains, are you serious? Do you think anyone's going to make that kind of money from those domains?

People who make XXXbit.com/whatever domains are deluded into thinking that they're actually worth more than the $10 they paid for them.
4  Economy / Goods / Re: BitPorium.com - Computer Systems - Components - Trusted Name! MEMORY SALE! 5% on: June 25, 2011, 10:07:40 PM
£300 for shipping to the UK? AWHH HELL NO
5  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Domain for Sale on: June 25, 2011, 10:04:10 PM
People think that a domain name with the word "bit" in it is actually valuable. What relevance does the "double" have to ANYTHING?
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 2 cards - One throttles when the other starts? on: June 25, 2011, 08:43:09 PM
Yeah, one is clearly --device=1 and the other is --device=2

Device 2 works fine on its own, but soon as device 1 starts device 2 goes REALLY slow, almost as if device 1 is stealing from it.

Both cards worked fine in Ubuntu 11.04 before I reinstalled the OS to have everything fresh for a client. Before I just had both cards in the system without a CF bridge and I could address them individually. The system still recognises 2 cards and they both work because I can get them to work one at a time but not together.

What's wrong here :S
7  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] I'll pay 20 BTC for a Google Nexus One unlocked, shipped on: June 25, 2011, 08:28:49 AM
I'm an Android developer and can facilitate the purchase of a new one, but the cost is $479.00, so it would have to be more BTC to make it worth it for me.

Why would you need to be a developer to purchase one? Here in the UK you can just stroll down to the shops and get one...
8  Bitcoin / Mining support / 2 cards - One throttles when the other starts? on: June 25, 2011, 07:13:47 AM
I have two 5870s and I'm having troubles getting them running together. When the second miner is running on its own it runs fine, but once I start the first miner the MHash/s of the second card drops to about 15. This only happened when I reinstalled Ubuntu 11.04 for a client and I can't figure out why it's doing this.

Does anyone have any idea?

How much are you paying?
11  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Freelance programming on: June 21, 2011, 09:36:19 PM
Hi, I'm MMavipc and I'm a freelance programmer, and sadly I'm not a very good poster, please point out any errors you see in this post.

Post, or pm me, with what you want me to create for you and I'll give you a quote. I have 3 levels of quality, from worst to best, Quick&Dirty(Q&D), Okay, and OhGodSweetJesus. Along with the BTC for each quality value you will also get a extra charge if you would like to keep the source code. After you get your quote, if you choose to, you can reply and choose which quality value you want and if you want the source code or not. You can also choose whether I post the progress I'm making on your program in this topic, or send it to you in a PM.

I'll create it, post pictures of progress along the way, and when it is done allow you to play around with it on a virtual machine if you please to do so, as soon as I get the BTC, I will send you the program, any dependencies it requires, and if you paid for it, the source code. If you never pay I will release it to the general public after a 1 month grace period.

I code mainly in C++, but sometimes I will use a scripting language for a Q&D program.

The first 3 Q&D requests I get, I will fill for free.

Could you maybe give examples of your three categories?

13  Other / Off-topic / Re: Please, stop having children. (Discussion about overpopulation) on: June 20, 2011, 04:02:08 PM
I've not read all of the thread, but what scares me is who is having children. It seems that the most intelligent people in society, the ones with good jobs etc. are having children at a later date, and they're having less children too. Whereas the poverty stricken African countries, and the underclass in western societies are spewing children.

Sounds a bit Nazi, but it's worrying. In the past survival of the fittest would have kicked in and only the best survived, but nowadays everyone survives and the best aren't reproducing enough.
14  Other / Obsolete (buying) / Re: [WEB PROGRAMMER NEEDED] - A website to show when my rigs are down? on: June 20, 2011, 03:51:48 PM
Wow I really thought that people would be biting my hand off - Programmers seem to be always looking for work.

If you need any more details please feel free to PM me, I'll answer usually within 3 hours unless i'm asleep
15  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: 4 brand new 5830s on: June 20, 2011, 03:50:04 PM
To anyone who's considering buying these @160 -- don't!

They're not worth it *at that price*. They're a great card because they're only $109.99 -- as you raise the price, the card quickly loses its value/luster.

They don't make you emit Bitcoins from your body or something... they're not that special. Just a good price/performance when they cost $110.

Actually these are $119 if you view from newegg, and again I said you can make an offer.

Thanks for the spam.

Informing people is not spam. Perfect information is good for the market!

Surely $1000 must be quite far off what you're willing to go down to
18  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: automatic fanspeed depending on gpu temperature (linux) on: June 20, 2011, 02:36:09 PM
I personally use AMDOverdriveCtrl - It's a GUI program that allows you to set fan profiles, overclock and displays relevant information on separate tabs.
19  Other / Obsolete (buying) / [WEB PROGRAMMER NEEDED] - A website to show when my rigs are down? on: June 20, 2011, 02:34:08 PM
Hi there,

I've recently started offering mining contracts, and I want a website that tells my clients how long their rig has been up. I'm not really sure how to go about doing this, but I'm willing to put up some BTC for someone that knows how to. I have a hosting account with everything you would need to get started. For the time being, it only needs to be simple (Username and password login, how long the service has been running) and be open for expansion in the future.

Features -

*Client login - Tells them up-time, how long they've got left on their contract, next payment due
*Admin login - Shows all the users, possibility to add time to their accounts, see payments etc

As I said, I don't really know what I'm doing here, embarrassingly I'm going to study computer science in the autumn, but I just don't have time to work on this right now and I want to get it up and running ASAP

Open to bids

http://www.steamcalculator.com/id/shiku420

that is my account 55 BTC account will be transferred today
as for security i recommend buyer change email and password on acc immediately after transfer

keep in mind this is at a valuation of 17.5 USD to BTC i believe that is fair given the average price the last week. if you wish i will also accept dwolla at $1000

There aren't really any HUGE games in here, just a bunch of relatively cheap ones. I don't think that I would play 90% of the games in there :/ 55BTC seems very sharp, you can't expect to resell the games at even close to the price you bought them for.

Edit: Yeah, around $400 would be more realistic. Nobody's going to pay $1,000 for a Steam account that has only $1,000 worth of games on it
