OT: went grocery shopping today.
Two observations:

1. Taster's choice (instant coffee, which I use in am because of rushing to work, etc) went from $8.99 to $13.99 (wowza!). Is there some coffee harvest problems in Brazil?
2. Large organic pasture-raised chicken eggs are $7.99 per 18 (44c/egg). Not bad. I wonder what they are in NY?

I am not sure about that 3.2% inflation now..at least some foodstuffs are rapidly becoming expensive.

That sounds ridiculous for instant coffee...  is that a 7oz jar?  I just paid 4.99 CAD (about US$3.67)  for a 100g (3.5oz)  jar of taster's choice decaf.  I only drink that once in blue moon if I need "something" in the evening so I grab it when it's on sale.  Usually, I make filter coffee or espresso (okay... Americano).

I double-checked the bill and it is $11.99 (up from $8.99), still, it is a 33.3% increase and yes, a 7oz jar.
Funny...now they are writing how many cups of coffee you can make with it (probably to justify the ridiculous price rise).

I noticed the new "makes X cups" on the label.  It made me wonder, who drinks such a small cup of coffee?

 LOL

Time is money; coffee is a luxury.

What if they could implement an "intention to merit" with a 48 hour recall on it so when everyone got on you for meriting a merit farmer, you could take it back... or not but at least we'd know where you stand and maybe the rusty pipe treatment would be in order Wink.  After 48 hours if not recalled, it would turn into a merit.  This could also be useful for those times when you've used your last merit and something better comes along causing you to regret using your last merit on an inferior post.

Before I cast my vote, I need to clearly understand your use of the word "disable" wrt JayJuanGee.  I wouldn't like to see Jay's typing fingers (and toes as I'm sure he must use those as well) broken or have him end up as a quadriplegic and/or rusty-piped into compliance.   I just want to be sure that no physical harm will come to JJG during the disabling process.

....... I'm not just saying that because you showed my avatar and mentioned my nick - which was pronounced perfectly by the way - though I did enjoy  my few seconds of fame...

I can see you in my head, watching the clip with your name in it, over and over.

Something like this, while donning a Xhomer10 hat.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Mars had oceans of Water. Sure but why is nobody talking about that Mars has so much Oil that it can supply Earth with oil for 1000s of years?

... and INDIA just became the forth country (after USA, Russia and China) to successfully land its mission on Moon. Chandrayaan 3 is name of there mission that successfully landed on Moons South Pole few hours ago.

https://www.reuters.com/world/india/india-counts-down-crucial-moon-landing-2023-08-23/

India is awesome man. Congratulations !

Yes they are. Congrats to them from Pakistan.

It's a symbol! Chandrayaan is already on the moon, Bitcoin is next! Cheesy

Such cosmic achievements inspire me. In the future, man will have to master the last frontier, because otherwise, sooner or later, the Sun will burn out, and other things can happen. And the development of the space industry is a slow process, it is important to work on it now. And the fact that different countries are actively developing flights to the Moon and other objects of the Solar System is great!

There are only 4 countries that have made it to moon till date and there are over 200 countries in the world. Explore the space but not with mindset to find it as an exist place from Earth. Make this world better to live.

Congratulations to India for this outstanding achievement. India is the only country in the world to successfully land its spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 on the unexplored South Pole of the Moon. They have shown that good things can be done with less money and by utilizing talent. Anyway, all the countries of the world will benefit through this.

India's Chandrayaan-3 mission to the moon has cost Rs 6.1 billion which is equivalent to about $75 million USD.

What do you think the teacher's gonna look like this year?

Hopefully, as an absolute minimum, like this kid's mom Smiley

still... the saddest thing I've seen today was this:

FTX's Bankman-Fried 'subsisting on bread and water' in jail, lawyer says

 Roll Eyes

I hope he finds himself some well hung boyfriends there

Is he also demanding gluten-free bread and bottles of spring water?

Welcome to the Hotel California New York.  Cool

Get over it Bank Man. You're in jail.

I was just talking to my dental hygienist about him yesterday!  That's so weird.

Get up you son of a bitch, cause Mickey loves you.

Mickey?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I wondered if it was a reference to Sam Friedmans well hung cell mate Mickey. As it followed a sbf/ftx post.

edit: I'm pretty sure he was talking to Bitcoin indirectly through ChartBuddy

That was it.  "I'm telling you right now... that motherfucker back there is not real. And you can sit on this plane and die with them or not..."
Kraken replaced the motherfucker with the Kraken logo (with added eyes) - not sure what it all means though.  I hope it doesn't mean Kraken is going down the shitter.

NEW: German programmer Stefan Thomas at two remaining password guesses from losing 🔑 keys to his 7,002 #Bitcoin    😱

Keys are locked in an encrypted hard drive but the developer forgot the password 😭

Details

He was never meant to own them. Darwin at work.

Thank you, Stefan!
What a terrible situation to encounter.
Fear the consequences of losing 7002 bitcoins.
Resources should only be looked at, not touched.

This isn't really "news" and Thomas is now a die-hard Ripple guy who never had much faith in Bitcoin which is probably why he gave two shits about the password for his IronKey device.  I believe he lost those coins in 2011 due to his nonchalant attitude wrt Bitcoin.  What really keeps me awake at night is wondering if Laszlo has any of that pizza left in the freezer and what did he do with those two pizza boxes??  Those boxes would be worth their weight in... uh... omg!  With the advent of Bitcoin that phrase has no meaning.

NEWS

The advent of Bitcoin deprecates commonly used idiom!
