Did anyone receive an extra miner by any chance?

I wish.
4  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-31 Washington Post: Why didn’t Bitcoin users freak out in May? on: June 01, 2013, 03:29:00 PM

But technologically? If there is a will to do so someplace like at Bernanke's office? Sadly, no. He could print a quick trillion to build a 3rd-gen ASIC factory and make enough chips to sustain a fatal attack on the network... All without telling congress anything.

I think friedcat would want that trillion turned into bitcoins (which would have an interesting impact on bitcoin), A new fab would take some time to get the chips right, or the trillion dollar BFL pre-order will never ship.  Ben might have a lot of friends, but I doubt he has a chip fab in his back pocket for cranking out sha256 ASICs faster than someone will ask him questions.

As to the article, I can say that I didn't freak out because early adoption and prospecting include an expected loss from time to time. But when you get it right, the surprise payoff is big enough to make up for those losses. It is all about expectations.

A list of Proper Instructions how to properly sign a BTC sent Transaction could be most useful to all!

See the OP on this thread if you want details on doing it with bitcoin-qt:

first!

Second first!

Ehh, I don't think the probation period is all that bad. It burns up 10 posts / 4 hours, and then you move on with your life.  Many many worse things in the world.

Solution: Create imacros script that reload the page every 5 minutes for 4 hours.

Gotta love the free market: http://newbiejail.org/

Why didn't I think of that....

I agree with Azure. Technically, you have the largest, most engaged part of the population here. Not like I have anything else to do over those four hours.

Long time lurker, but I wanted to get into some group buys for the block Erupter USB sticks, and that requires the ability to post.
