Indians were struggling at 94/5 in 14 overs and crossed the 160 mark so they can claim a moral victory, forget about winning the match lol Grin

It's not a defendable total so won't blame bowlers much if they bottled this. To win, they need to bowl their hearts out and hope for some brain fade moments from Lankans.  Tongue

309/7 to 423/9  Roll Eyes

Tail is wagging for New Zealand and doing enormous damage to Pakistan. They are adding crucial runs and it could be a match defining session, despite being too early in the game.

121 overs for Pak bowlers, indeed many tired legs.

I was expecting 400 or so runs but it seems just like Pakistani bowlers I also underestimated the Kiwi tail enders. Henry already scored his 50 and Patel might too. A score of 400+ would not be easy for Pakistan. They have a very inconsistent batting line up and if they want to win this match or draw it they would need a good partnership.
For now, Pakistani batters are playing village cricket.

First 2 wickets were really soft dismissals and the run out of Babar was proper meme material and would make a great thumbnail for a youtube video. Imam screaming at Babar was a cherry on the cake, he first sold out his skipper and then started blabbing lol

The kind of cricket Prithvi playing in the last 2-3 years (domestic +IPL). His name should be on the T-20 team's roaster every single time. He didn't make many runs in the last IPL but his strike rate is way too good (average of 28 with 150 SR) and he's an opener, miles ahead of Rohit/KL/Kishan as far as attacking cricket goes.
Average does matter but SR is more important in T-20 and the way T-20 cricket is evolving, you can't afford to bring 3-4 players in the team with 40-50 averages + 130 SR. At best you can have only 1 anchor in the team.

I believe it is time for Prithvi Shaw to be given a chance. As far as I am concerned, I believe this guy is doing well at the moment, and he has also proven his worth in recent times. In any case, I was quite surprised to learn that he did not get any chance in the upcoming Sri Lanka series that is going to take place.

There is also another thing that is always perceived to be more significant in T-20 cricket than in regular cricket, and that is the strike rate. Although 130 strike rate is actually very favorable, so I have no idea why he didn't get the chance that he deserved, as 130 strike rate is actually very positive.
Guess no one has any idea of his exclusion, there is virtually no media report or comment from the selectors whatsoever.

So if i have to take an educated guess then i believe it's related to his disciplinary behavior or he really pissed someone, which i failed to find.

By losing 5 wickets in the last session Kiwis just threw away all the advantages they had.

They can only blame themselves, at one time the stage was set for a big total of 450-500. Pak's spin did most of the damage but credit goes to Naseem, he was the one who created the pressure on Kiwi's batter. After the first day of play, Pakistan would be a happier team and the opposition will lick their wounds.

The first T20 bilateral match for this year will payed between India and Srilanka on 3rd of January. The match will be played in the wankhede stadium in Mumbai. A lot of new Indian talents are part of the team. How many of them become part of the playing 11 would be interesting to watch. I am also looking forward to find out who will be opening the batting with Ishan Kishan and will Umran Malik be given an opportunity in the first match.
New approach and fresh squad but they still neglected Prithvi Shaw in T-20 tho.

He has proven in domestic cricket that he has the ability to score runs at a good rate but still the selectors have neglected him for both T20 & ODI series with Srilanka. I guess they are prefer players who have done well in IPL and are not considering those who have done good in domestic. Last IPL I do not remember Shaw doing good.

Back in Dec 2021, many of us had so many hopes when PCB announced this home season.

Finally, it's coming to an end for tests with historical outcomes, not in a good way tho. I hope they end the last match on a high note.

Not having any hopes for the next one scheduled tomorrow. They will play in the same manner and Inam sure they will create another flat pitch that will only help the batters. Being said that I still feel NZ will try to win the next but looking at he boady language of Pakistan players they are more in defense mode than attack. I hope the new PCB chairman takes some big action to improve the overall performance of Pakistan cricket.

This is an alleged pitch for the next match, it has a good amount of grass so maybe things would be different tomorrow.

Let's hope they don't trim grass too much or completely shaved it and turn it into another highway.

Anyway, i like to believe KS Bharat will replace him but he's raw talent atm so who knows if management brings Saha back for the homes series because a couple of years back he was a first choice keeper.
I think Prithvi Shaw could be a better replacement for Rishabh Pant but unfortunately it has been quite long since he has played any international matches and KL Rahul may take care of wicket keeping in the test matches. But, I guess finding a replacement as wicketkeeper cum aggressive batter for the test matches must be quite challenging one for BCCI selection panel.

As of now, it seems like Rishabh Pant may make a quick comeback like in 3 to 4 months of time. So, BCCI may not look for long term replacements in my opinion.
Prithvi Shaw is an opener, not Wicket keeper batter so he's not a contender to replace Rishabh Pant.

Bringing KL Rahul as Pan't replacement in test format would be a massive downgrade because of his keeping skill. Rahul is an okay keeper in limited overs cricket but not suitable in a longer format and not to mention it's not an easy task to do keeping when it's rank turners and your strike bowlers are Ashwin, Jaddu, Axar and Kuldeep.

Finance or no finance.

I believe Pakistani White ball cricket is in safe hands. They have an abundance of resources in fast bowling so no matter what, they will bring any random kid and he'll do wonders in the white ball, after a couple of years someone else will replace him and this cycle will go on due to the vast raw fast bowling pool.

The problem will come in Test cricket only.

Yes, I agree with you. There is a problem with test cricket, which is that you need a certain amount of skills in order to be able to execute the plans that you have made. In spite of that, if you are giving this job to a young player, he is most likely not experienced enough to be able to put the plan into effect as you planned.

But in one-day internationals or T20 cricket, that is not necessary, because the batsman is most likely to play shots anyway. It is true that test cricket is a form of cricket where the margin for error is really low. And experience is much needed in test cricket.
Young local bowler has a better chance to outbowl overseas bowler (spin or pace) but only if you are bold enough to provide them with better conditions to bowl.

I bet if PCB had the guts to create fast pitches which they already do in domestic and against Bangbros etc then these last 3 series would've been very competitive.

I have been following Rishabh Pant since his U19 WC days and expected him to do wonders in internationals, which he did in his short career so it would be painful for me to watch his career end in such a fashion. It would be a big loss for Indian cricket but his well-being is more important to me than a sport.

Reports are coming that his injuries (mainly knee) will take 3-6 months to heal and possibly rehab for extra 6 months to 1 year so he's not playing any cricket in 2023 for sure, fingers crossed.
BCCI announced that Pant and Bumrah are their best players in tests for 2022. This just goes to show how good he is in tests despite his epic strike rate. I absolutely loved how he played against the Ozzies in their own backyard sometime back.

He could still play in 2023 as long as his injuries aren't very, very severe.
I agree it's a bummer and a big loss for India that his services won't be available for Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

We might still give a tough fight or even win the series but his contest with Nathon Lyon is a big loss for the test cricket fans.

Anyway, i like to believe KS Bharat will replace him but he's raw talent atm so who knows if management brings Saha back for the homes series because a couple of years back he was a first choice keeper.

The sad thing is that his cricket career is most probably completely over due to those serious injuries.

Oh wow declaration by Babar, I'm loving it. Well done Babar!! That's a way to play the test match.

So here is the equation. Kiwis need 138 runs to win in 15 overs and they need to put on their T-20 cap.

15 overs if there is no bad light situation. Spectators should fancy some fireworks if kiwis comes out with a positive mindset.

Abrar vs Kiwi is loading....

I would say suicidal declaration and its not recommended if you have lost two consecutive home series. Bracewell is gone in first over, he was bowled by Abrar. NZ need 122 runs on 74 balls at the moment and this is very much in there range. NZ are going with 6 runs per over and they to do some more acceleration if they really wanna win this game.
It surely looked like one at the start, although it was indeed a good decision to keep everyone interested after 4.5 dull days of cricket but....

After just 4-5 overs Babar again went to his usual defensive shell and introduced the Pacers, despite knowing that Pacers take more time to finish their overs so, in the end, it looked like a calculated declaration just to avoid embarrassment and appear bit brave.

So i would take my words "Well done Babar" back.

~snip~.
Wb bhai, You went poof for good., hope everything is alright.

Excellent 8th wicket partnership and it's a match saving partnership.

If we take Sodhi out from the attack then no one else looked effective and this batting duo hardly facing any difficulties.

Sodhi can bowl from only one end, other bowlers need to up their game as well if they fancy a win here.

6th wicket for sodhi

Draw or NZ's win?

Just 2 more sessions left on this test match, don't you feel that Pakistan can easily take it into draw in their home conditions? Right now, Pakistan is trailing by below 30 runs and possibly 4 players can bat which means they can manage for more than 1 session for sure and in another half session, I cannot imagine that New Zealand can score rapidly to defeat Pakistan.
On papers it is an easy draw when the morning session started, but the pitch has worn off badly and the ball is spinning a lot and they lost 5 wickets and if not for the innings from Imam-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed they would still be trailing and the New Zealand spinners are bowling well outside the leg stump expecting it to hit a crack and turn sharply and with 55 overs left in the day anything is possible.
Only Ish Sodhi making purchases on deck. Bracewell looks quite ordinary tbh.

Sodhi on the other hand looks quite dangerous with his hoops and straight deliveries. Pakistanis are literally down to 32/7 and we have 50 odd overs left so we'll have result for sure.

5-fer for Sodhi!

Shocked to learn that Pant almost died in a car crash a little while earlier.

https://www.icc-cricket.com/news/2998671

The car was totally burnt to a crisp. I have no idea as to how he managed to survive that without major injuries. This accident could have ended his life or career. He's one of the best cricketers at present and I hope that he recovers quickly.
Holy cow! You can't take life for granted at all. Glad that he's safe and out of danger, hope he recovers soon.

Road accidents are a big concern and the overall health of vehicles is not good in India as far as safety features go, so high time airbags must be mandatory for every car in India.

IMO, Rishabh Pant remains as the no.1 keeper batsmen in India. Who are the other options? Dinesh Karthik is almost 38 years old and he may retire in a couple of years at the most. Sanju Samson has wasted whatever opportunities given to him and has now resorted to bullying using his rabid fan army. KL Rahul is another option, but he doesn't like to be the keeper when he is playing. Youngsters such as KS Bharat, Upendra Singh Yadav, Mohammed Azharuddeen and Anuj Rawat are not being given any opportunities.
India also has Parthiv Patel & Ishan Kishan. Both are also good openers as well as middle order batters. They both are much younger and can also replace Panth. We have already seen he has been replaced by Ishan Kishan in the upcoming bilateral series with Srilanka. Selectors have multiple options available at the moment.
Parthiv Patel retire ho gaya hai kab ka bhai.

In the pecking order, in t-20 Ishan Kishan, Samson seems ahead. In ODI KL Rahul is also throwing his hat for WK batsman slot so competition would get tougher. In the test no one comes close to Pant and right now KS Bharat is regularly traveling with the team so they are trying to groom him as a backup WK batter.

By belting Proteas Aussies are doing us a favor but their team hitting peak level just before BGT should be a worry for the Indian team, it would be treat to watch as a fan tho.
The crazy thing is that South Africa still managed to lose by such a margin despite Green not bowling thanks to his fractured finger. This just goes to show the difference in level between Aus and SA in the test format currently.

Bloody hell 191 overs  Shocked

Poor bowlers but i guess Pakistan deserves this treatment after creating an absolute road. They turned out to be an amazing host tho as they handed out tons to every freaking batter in every match in 3 historic series.
I won several easy bets in this match luckily. One of them was Sodhi to score 50 runs when he was on 41 and the odds were around 1.49. Great value!
This makes me sadder lol

In the last India tour of South Africa, almost the same batting lineup managed to bat us out 2 times while chasing. We had a really great chance to win our first series there but our batter shit their bed as usual and the bowling which is our strength, let us down.

Congrats on your winning.
