How many of you watching this game?

Its keep getting interesting ball after ball, spell after spell  Grin

Ben stokes out, England is 4 down now and need 168 runs . They have 3 recognized batsmen left Root,Bairstow, Buttler.

~snip~
I believe that it was a good thing that I cashed out my bet on SA early at 1.5x. Considering the current scenario, I believe that ENG now have a chance to win this match.
haha, you did good. this match still got some juice left though.

At least NZ try to avoid the complete qhitewash by giving some real effort to win the next match which is about to happen between Jan 02 and 06.

Nothing surprising here. New Zealand has been winning primarily due to their bowling these days(Not batting) which is where they seriously need to improve.

2 consecutive defeat with 200+ runs tells the story of this tour. I would say disappointing performance from Kiwis so far, especially Williamson.

On the other match, Can england get another 255 to win the match?Looks easy but let's wait and see.

Burns is hanging on at the moment, but I still think South Africa will win this one easily since England is under immense pressure and I am expecting a collapse once Burns gets out. Most of the batsmen lower down the order are great ODI and T-20 batsmen(Not Test batsmen except Root).

This game is balanced atm. both teams has equal chance of winning the game. if South Africa goes wicketless in the first session then they are in big trouble. Personally i would like to see 3-4 hour of good cricket from both sides with bat and ball.
325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 28, 2019, 03:31:41 PM
England started really well and they are giving a good fight for the South African bowlers, they just lost their first wicket and if they are able to build partnership like these then they have a fighting chance to win the match as Jose Butler has given them some thrilling wins in the past and if they can take the team closer to the target then they have a long batting line up to challenge the South African team, it all depends how the pitch behaves in the last two days.

121/1 and 5 overs left today. Early Stump

Tension for SA and big relief for England, considering their first inning misadventure but game is 50-50 now. one more good partnership means home run for England and SA need only 1 good spell.
326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 28, 2019, 07:31:58 AM
Quinton de Kock was the stand out performer for South Africa and considering this as a bowling friendly wicket where the bowlers took 15 wickets in a day you need to give props to Quinton de Kock for his stroke play in scoring 95 runs where the rest of the batsman was struggling
Agreed. I have no idea why they are sending him so late down the order, but he seems to be doing well in any position these days. South Africa could win this one if they give England a lead of +300 since Philander is on fire currently.

Proteas sent tailender Anrich Nortje as Night watchman, just to save De Kock. no teams likes to send regular batsman when few overs left for the Stumps. Agreed they have good chance of winning the first game.

I think no one likes overdose of World cup or annual ICC tournament. if ICC is up for experiment and really thinking about World Cricket then they should take risk on 16-20 team T-20 WC or new territory of T-10 Cricket.

Increasing the number of teams in the CWC is out of question. In the ODI world cup, the number of teams have been reduced to 10 from 16, and in the T20 World Cup, it have been reduced to 12 (I am excluding the "qualifier" phase of the T20 world cup). BCCI/ECB want to reduce this number further and in the near future we may never see the minnows playing in the world cup.
I have a hard time finding a solution otherwise. And i am in favor of more team in T-20 WC (not 50-50) as in T-20 format every team has a good chance of winning the game, it might be financial suicide if top team gets out early (like 2007) but all cricketing boards/ICC should take this risk or stop their so called lip service. If its not happening then i don't see much global adoption of cricket in next 20-40 years.

Quote
The T10 format is not something that I liked. Some changes are needed to make it an even contest between the bowlers and the batsmen. 60 balls for 11 batsmen is going a bit too far. The batsmen will start smashing from the very first ball, and none of the batting techniques matter in T10. Cricket will become more like baseball.
Short format is all about smashing so i don't really mind if its used for a commercial purpose. for T-10 they can limit the number of batsmen, ex; 4-5 who can bat and same with bowlers. so yeah shitty or modified version of baseball.

What do you guys think?
Not appropriate thread to discuss bro.

Poor England lol All out 181 and SA end up with 103 runs. well they say cricket is game of unpredictability. few months back SA bowlers were looking toothless, now look at them. eating English breakfast all day long  Grin

Its seems to me that we don't have to wait 5 days for any result.
329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 27, 2019, 11:02:25 AM
How in the world is NZ rated 2nd in the test rankings? Australians are decimating them at the moment and I feel Australia deserves a far higher ranking in comparison. So many Australian batsmen rose to the occasion in the ongoing match.
Currently they are in 5th rank on ICC test team table but they got rating 102 same as team 3 and 4 so number of matches affected their rank but its not really much important any team could change their entire position with the ability of players.

Glad you mentioned, somehow i missed it and didn't gave much thought about it.

SA vs Eng

3 wickets down for English team, i must say English top order is very consistent with their poor performance  Grin. suddenly Proteas's 284 runs score not looking too bad and who know if they can get some first inning lead.

But this might clear, basically one ICC tournament every year and total 8 Tournament in next cycle.

1. Two 50 overs world cup, 4 T-20 World Cup are fixed in 8 years.
2. Two extra ICC tournament, it could be T-20 WC or 50 overs WC or they can give new name just like Champions Trophy, not clear atm. So its open to discussion that what those extra tournaments are.
Lol. The World Cup will basically become like the IPL and other yearly tournaments reducing its significance in my opinion which is why I don't think this is a great idea at all. Current gap should be reduced to something like 3 years and nothing less.

However, this could prove to be a hit since we can expect big things from such tournaments, but I have no idea how they can manage with tightly packed schedules these days. Lots of interesting news.

I think no one likes overdose of World cup or annual ICC tournament. if ICC is up for experiment and really thinking about World Cricket then they should take risk on 16-20 team T-20 WC or new territory of T-10 Cricket.

Not sure, if anyone noticing slow over rate. for quite some time teams keep repeating this. every team delaying overs, same thing happened today in SA vs Eng. first day stump and 7 overs short. ICC need to do something about it. % of fees is not affecting captains at all and teams are not taking this seriously.

10% or 20% fine from the match fees is a joke. If the ICC wants to make sure that the over rate is maintained, then they should penalize by either deducting runs from the side that is responsible for the delay, or award extra runs for the opposite side. Financial penalties have a disproportionately negative impact on smaller teams such as West Indies, while the bigger teams may chose to ignore it.

Cricketing world is divided on this matter and ICC is confused as far as i understand. ICC gets heat from experts when game lose the overs, Fees penalty is not working. they did ban Windies captain recently due to same reason and decision didn't go well. "Deducting runs" could work on some cases but its very controversial decision.

this is a good article

The way kiwis are playing, they might not able to witness full house in Aus anytime soon.

I thought VB didn't have ETH and was sour TBH. That he has whale amounts was the bigger news for me.

Damn coincidences. Cry
I will have to make an instance asking theymos to change part of my username (VB)

Creating post in Meta or approaching theymos sounds tough job, why not track down Vitalik in real and ask him nicely, if he says no then unleash whatever you want but no violence.  Tongue

SA pitch did what it supposed to do. they are 3 down but Faf and debutant van der Dussen are good batsmen so expecting some resistance from them.

Edit : Bloody hell they are 5 down now

Yeah, SA are really in a pitiable situation without the likes of Amla and ABD Undecided I think this match is going to be an easy win for ENG.

Its early to say "easy win for Eng". this game is wide open and English batting line up is not great as well when ball moves. lets wait for their inning, only benefit for English batsmen is 2 new test bowlers of SA ( Dwaine Pretorius and Anrich Nortje).

Australia looking okay after stumps, i suppose. As usual Labuschagne and Smith are back to business.
Labuschagne was playing really well but it was an unfortunate dismisal as the ball hit his hands while leaving the ball and hit the stumps if not we would have seen another century from him and Steve Smith is closing into another century as he looks really settled for a long innings.
Yeah, but Australia is in balanced position so Labuschagne can make peace with it. Smith is ridiculously good batsman, hope he get to touch his next ton tomorrow. Kohli vs Smith fight is keep getting interesting in ICC ranking.

In other match, Eng opt to field first and it turns out it was sweet decision, Anderson already got the wicket of Elgar - First Ball of the series-  Grin
Both the South African openers are back in the pavilion and du Plessis is the crease and he needs to bat for a long time for South Africa to have a decent score on the board.

England is in command from first ball now 12 overs 36 runs and 2 out both openers back now Zubayr and Du Plessis on for South Africa survival.

SA pitch did what it supposed to do. they are 3 down but Faf and debutant van der Dussen are good batsmen so expecting some resistance from them.

Edit : Bloody hell they are 5 down now

ICC was proposing the T-20 world cup every year and ODI World cup every 3 year. call it dick move or smart move but its not rocket science that ICC wanted to grab the global media rights (2023-2028) and guess who was the bigger loser?

I am not sure about this, and I don't know how reliable this information is. Unless the same appears on the ICC website or at least on espncricinfo, I am going to regard it as mere rumor. Hosting the T20 World Cup every year is not practical and it doesn't make any sense. How can a world cup be conducted every year? The same goes for the ODI world cup as well. Ever since 1979, the tournament is being conducted on a 4-yearly basis, and I don't think that they are going to change that all of a sudden.

Yeah, you can say that because its coming from BCCI perspective.

ICC approves new tournament despite BCCI's concerns

Quote
Cricket's global governing body is headed towards a confrontation with the game's biggest powerhouse after the ICC decided to include an extra tournament in the next rights cycle overlooking objections from the BCCI.

On Monday the ICC Board gave consent to include an extra global tournament in the next events rights cycle, which starts after the 2023 World Cup. As it stands, the ICC's decision, made at its meeting in Dubai over the weekend, means that its next eight-year cycle running from 2023 to 2031 would have one ICC global (both men's and women's) event every year: two 50-over World Cups, four T20 World Cups and two editions of this extra event, which is understood to be in the 50-overs format.

Background story in context:

Historically, T-20 World cup has no fixed gap year. ICC used to shuffle it according to their schedule or CT. Some time they play back to back years, sometimes after every 2 years and next time (2020) after 4 years. But ICC wants to change this that's why they scrapped the CT (actual reasons are revenue) and came up with this : Back-to-back World T20s to replace Champions Trophy Next 2 T-20 world cup ( 2020 and 2021)

I will write about BCCI vs ICC vs Each Board and over all struggle in details next time. otherwise its going to be very long post. bottom line is there is no black and White characters.
