Of course, this is possible because Ire Land is new but India is not a new team India has experienced in cricket. India can win this match easily and also India had Top Class batsman so, that's why everyone knows who will win this match.

I agree that India do have top class batsmen. But I don't agree with the argument that batsmen such as Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan are comparable with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. And also, I am not in agreement that scoring runs against teams like Ireland should be considered as earth-shattering achievements. India hasn't won a major ICC tournament for almost a decade now. Winning against Ireland by huge margins is good, but then they need to win consistently against top teams like Australia as well.
Sky is a better T-20 player when compared to Rohit and Virat because he represents the modern era of batting and i believe everyone agrees on that. In Other formats, SKY is nowhere close to them, period.

Tilak and Kishan are too young so there is virtually no discussion. Congratulations to everyone #Chandrayaan-3

^^ Consider this last match as a practice match for both teams. Ireland and Indian teams are gaining game experience despite being it's a useless bilateral fixture.

India vs Ireland and NZ vs UAE are indeed useless series but i think it's a good development that big boards are playing series against them.

Indian squad for the Asia Cup and most probably for the ODI WC as well (more or less), given there are no injuries.

The most surprising thing was Agarkar (Chief selector) and Rohit's press conference. I don't remember when was the last time management came before the media regarding squad selection.

Lol. Rahul is back. I guess he will continue getting opportunities even if he is in space or on some other planet. Good to see Iyer and Bumrah back since their injuries screwed them over for way too long.

Sad that Pant couldn't return which was expected, but I hope he can return sometime next year.
To be fair to KL Rahul his numbers in ODI as middle order batter is not bad, actually it's the opposite so not surprised of his inclusion in the squad and possibly playing XI.

SKY selection is surprising tho as his numbers are worst in ODI but i guess he gets the entry due to the X-factor. Other than that it's surprising to see a lack of quality spinners in the future planning considering WC is in India but i guess they are targeting a deep batting lineup overall.

Overall I was counting on India to get a 180-ish total but i have a feeling that it would be tough to defend this total.

This is the same ground where last year Ireland almost chased down a 225 score against the same opponent so in my reading it should be a tight one.

Atm the odds are not juicy enough for Ireland but i won't mind betting lunch money on them if they lose a couple of quick wickets in the powerplay.
846  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: August 20, 2023, 02:37:34 PM
Decent power play for Ireland. India won't be too disappointed either as they have a fine batting lineup.

At the current rate, India should touch the 160 mark easily but they would like to stretch this to 185-190 and try to give some buffer to their bowlers, anything above would be a bonus.

Traditional wisdom says that, at least on paper, X(full member) A team should be strong against the associates so overall it's good for cricket.
Very true. It's good to see more and more of these associate nations slowly and steadily rising with time.
Props to the New Zealand Cricket Board that they sent a team there, otherwise test playing nations hardly play any cricket against an associate.

Normally these fixtures are dull to watch but still, we need more matches between Full members and Associates and T-20 is the best format for such tours.
848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: August 19, 2023, 06:08:24 PM
It's a big win for the associate team but we shouldn't forget that Kiwis sent a rookie team on this tour and it's becoming a norm for everyone.

Having said that it's still a wonderful achievement for UAE as this win came against a full member. Traditional wisdom says that, at least on paper, X(full member) A team should be strong against the associates so overall it's good for cricket.

No reason to blame them for the initial burst as it was their right but at the same time, they also knew that it was fool's errand and they wasted a fair amount of time.

The next Championship trophy is also scheduled in Pakistan and i bet this story will repeat again, maybe it would be wise if they can follow the hybrid model same as the Asia Cup.

The same thing is definitely going to be repeated. And again, I believe it is going to be two countries hosting the championship trophy. But I hope that is going to be a better fixture.
A proposal that beckons is to allocate the initial half of the tournament to take place in Pakistan, while the latter half shall unfold in another captivating destination outside Pakistan.. Not one match here and the next match there. And of course Pakistan is in the right to ask to host the tournament. But if the situation in Pakistan gets better, I think Pakistan might be able to host the whole tournament. But Pakistan will have to give the touring players a huge amount of security in any case.
I won't be surprised if it's UAE (gulf) + Pakistan or Srilanka/Bangladesh + Pakistan.

Overall both scenario makes sense but Gulf pitches seems to be dead and most of the results depends on the toss so there is a fair chance for the latter scenario but at the same time it would also depend on the profit margin aka tax situation.

Ramiz Raja is the one who talked about national dignity but Najam Sethi talked about money. The new government of Pakistan didn't even bothered to resist rather agreed on everything proposed by BCCI. Now India will not come to Pakistan for Asia Cup but Pakistan will go to India for World Cup. Next is icc championship trophy and same episode will be repeated by India.
Previous PCB Chairman Raja is taken strict action and stood on Asia Cup if India come to Pakistan. Pakistan Will go to India for the world cup but now current PCB chairman Najim is not taken a stand on the Asia Cup. I think The main reason is Asia Cup is not an ICC event. ICC champion trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan. And every team come to Pakistan if any team doesn't come BCCI and another team. ICC will take action against him if which team doesn't come to Pakistan for the champion Trophy.
I am not going to lie here but a fair amount of people in India were counting on such tactics but it was bad luck (For Indians) that PCB caved.

BCCI or overall India in general wants Rambo (Immi) kind of people in charge of PCB (Pakistan). I won't dwell much on it but imagine what would happen if Pakistan actually boycott the World Cup.

If you can grab the gist of it then i won't mind a productive discussion.

Great to see Bumrah bowling well again. Ireland batted like crap, but they were bowling well(Especially Young) though they wouldn't win regardless of rain interference thanks to such a low target.

Ireland can actually win atleast 1 match in this series if they bat well and provide a proper target for the Indians.

Injury has taken its toll on Bumrah. I am not sure whether he will be the same bowler ever again. He took two important wickets, but speed as well as swing has gone down.
One thing is for sure. He needs to retire from at least 1 format, my guess would be ODI after the WC.

Retiring from the test won't make any sense because he only plays in the SENA countries so 4-5 test every year should be alright. Then there is T-20, due to IPL.

As far as i know, at the start revenue sharing model was proposed in the ACC meetings for the Asia Cup, which is the norm when we have multiple hosts but PCB was reluctant to move things in positive ways.

They were also given the choice that they are free to host the tournament without India but this proposal was also rejected and we know the reason already.

Hosting the tournament without India would mean that the revenues go down by 80% or more. So such an option is not viable. Anyway, without the India vs Pakistan clash, what is the point in even having the Asia Cup? Revenue sharing model works with GCC nations such as Oman and United Arab Emirates, but when it comes to South Asian nations such as Sri Lanka, the terms and conditions would be much more unfavorable. Pakistan initially wanted Oman as the co-host, but other ACC members raised the issue of unfavorable weather.
If you have the hosting rights and you are relocating the tournament to another venue then the deal favors the original host, it's definitely not 50-50 so that's my reading.

Anyway, Asia Cup is a done deal and shouldn't face any issues atm but the Champions trophy drama is going to be fun because it comes under the ICC. Btw did you notice, BCCI never made any fuss when they moved the last T-20 Asia Cup to Dubai? One could say tax benefits but BCCI never took a penny and all profits were handed out to ACC.

This is really a big headache. The schedule and logistics gets quite complicated, if the matches are being hosted in two different countries that are thousands of kilometers apart from each other. It creates additional headache for the fans, as well as for the TV broadcasters. All this could be avoided. PCB could just enter into a revenue sharing agreement with any of the other countries and then shift the matches there. Or else, ICC need to talk to BCCI and make sure that they don't have an issue with Pakistan hosting major ICC tournaments. The current situation is not viable in the long term.

@fuguebtc  Not some but a billion people didn't want their team to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup. It was very clear from the start but all parties, especially PCB wasted a lot of time. Although their grievances were genuine but dick measuring contest with the BCCI on political grounds wasn't necessary, recently it happened with the WC fixtures too.

Yeah, hard for players to travel back n forth for just 1 match. It's final so no one can do anything about it. Now ACC must take extra care of players when traveling, maybe provide Charter flights.

I am actually not going to blame the Pakistan Cricket Board in this situation. If it was me or anyone else I can guarantee that they would have done the same as well. Of course, the Pakistan Cricket Board is going to want to host when it is their turn. So of course, I don’t think we can actually playing Pakistan Cricket Board. Simultaneously, I acknowledge that Pakistan may not be an optimal choice for hosting the Asia Cup.

I know that the fixture is already made and there is nothing that can be done about it. I hope there are not going to be any problems in this tournament. But people should learn from their mistakes.

India is the best team in cricket game it is ok but they are not much better than Australia they may be much stronger team than England but relative to Australia they are almost close to Australia.
In white ball cricket, India is lagging badly, maybe they are in the top-4-5 and it's not an achievement at all.

In test cricket tho, they are at the top of their game despite losing 2 WTC finals. In the last 7-8 years they are the best touring side and we all know how dominant they are at home, hence the best team.

Bowlers doing an exceptional job for India.

Bumrah looked decent after a long break and picked up 2 wickets which is good, although those wicket-taking deliveries were not jaffa. So far Arshdeep is showing his accuracy with wide yorkers, it's always good to watch. Also good to see Bishnoi spinning the web.

Inexperienced team but looks nice on paper with a decent batting lineup and a couple of all-rounders. Even debutants give some sort of confidence, especially the Rinku.

Wish he was batting allrounder, things could have been simpler in the long run. Dube is alright and peaking with the bat but he needs to bowl as well. For Bisnoi it would be crucial series as competition for leggie in the squad is becoming tough.

Lol Ditto!

In general, all names i came across when i read posts here, Sithara's normally post about random T-20 leagues even random fixtures, mostly associate matches.

At least someone is following T-20 format seriously. All i know about BBL, PSL, The 100 and SA t-20. When it comes to details then I only follow IPL.

LOL.. it is strange that you doesn't consider the Caribbean Premier League in the same level as BBL and PSL. For heaven's sake CPL came much before the PSL and the 100. SA20 is a very recent invention. On top of that, CPL is one of the most popular foreign leagues as far as Indian audience is concerned. And I believe that it has a higher viewer-share compared to either BBL or PSL. Anyway, I keep track of all the T20 leagues around the world and it gives an idea in which way the sport is moving. My prediction is that bilaterals will become history in another 5-6 years and franchise T20 leagues will become more prominent.
Actually, i just don't know anything about the Caribbean league. In fact, for foreign leagues, my overall T-20 viewing experience would be around just 10 overs at best. So it's just my ignorance as i am not much into T-20 leagues, except IPL.

Considering ICC going with the ICC tourney every year and almost all cricket boards are trying to build their own T-20 leagues so it's obvious that bilateral will die for sure and for the right reasons.
860  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: August 17, 2023, 06:58:29 PM
Sometimes I do think that the Caribbean Premier League does not get as much recognition as it should just because the West Indies team is not doing very well in cricket. What Do you guys think?
Honestly, I have never heard of this league before until now. The IPL craze spawned domestic leagues across the world, but what primarily helped India was their population while the same cannot be said about some other countries like WI.

Not being able to qualify for the upcoming WC didn't exactly help their case either. They need to improve drastically in multiple departments in order to attract more viewers.
