No refunds. I would argue though that Dooglus is the most trusted man in bitcoinland so if you going to take a risk with someone, that is the person to take it with. The only guarantee I can offer is that this is an investment where the odds are provably in your favor. Variance can be a bitch though.
Auction ends at 1am est which is 4 hours from now.

So if this balance is gambled, are the winnings free to withdraw?
He has a balance of 0. But sure, knock yourself out I guess Oh I see. I misread your previous message and thought the 478 BTC could be played There is a 479 BTC investment loss on this account. As a result, no commissions will be charged on the first 479 BTC of investment profit. You cannot gamble with this account. For safety, I had Dooglus permanently lock gambling on this account.

This is a NO RESERVE auction for my Just-Dice investment account which has 478.78 BTC available of commission free earnings. At the current commission rate of 10%, this represents a maximum possible savings 47.87 BTC on commission payments for investment gains. Just-Dice is one of the most liquid and trusted investment vehicles in the Bitcoin community. Be aware this is an investment-only account, meaning gambling with this account is permanently disabled. Starting bid will be 4 BTC with 0.1 BTC increments. Bidding ends in 3 days on 12/6/2013 at 6AM board time. Upon winning, I will send transfer the account by: 1. Sending the google authentication secret to the winner 2. Changing the password to a temporary one of the new winner's choosing 3. Send Dooglus (the OP) a signed message from me indicating the transfer of the account to the new owner This auction thread and the transfer receipt shall serve as additional proof of transfer of account owner. Escrow, though unnecessary, is fine. Winner would pay any escrow fees.

I think the site needs improvement. Investors might help with that. But instead of doing it the way we do it now, whoever shouts loudest on the forum or in the chat, why not let them actually vote on an issue. Weighted by their investement (and time), like I said.
dooglus what do you think about this idea? Easily gamed: nakowa shows up, deposits 11,000 BTC, obtains > 25% of the vote, votes, and then withdraws. with this answer the question should be off the table I guess. chapeau for the answer Or maybe not. It's not as if I never thought of that possibility. My suggestion was: vote weight, per account := sum: amount invested * time investedWhich means nakowa or anyone else still can show up, invest for 5 minutes, vote and then divest, but his vote weight would be the same as someone who had a much smaller amount invested, but since the beginning of j-d. The biggest vote weight would go to those investors who had large sums invested, since the beginning, the way it should be, IMO. This would be a much more practical and fair way to set the max profit percentage. Let every user choose between .25% an 1%. Then at any given time the max profit percent = the average weighted by the time-value of the votes. Time vote value= Principal Investment Amount x days invested (gets reset to 0 with divestment). Fixes to issues at once, fixes how max profit decided in a fair and simple way & gives a strong disincentive to rapid investing/divesting to day trade whales.

The longer invested, the more the votes are weighed. Frequent investing/divesting should also greatly lower the weight of those votes. Passive long-term investors should have their votes valued at an order of magnitude over short term or day trading investors.

2) if expectation is to lose 25k, to beat it by 40k you 'only' have to win 15k. That means winning 5018 times (5018*400 - 4982*400 = 14400)
Using your numbers, he would be about 8.8% to win 15K or more. That's based on his winning 5018+ out of 10K rolls, with a 49.5% chance to win each individual roll. That's obviously in the realm of possibility. My understanding is that he has played more than 10K rolls, but the fact he varies his bet sizes adds more variance. As someone already mentioned, some kind of Monte Carlo simulation would be the best way to figure out how probable his win streak is. We could run his exact same bets through a simulator 10,000 times and see how often his results are met or exceeded. No mathetmatical proofs required

My suggestion, choose a difficult to remember phrase with many misspellings, etc. Repeat it to yourself daily.
As a second level of security, write this passphrase down and then split it with shamir's sharing secret into 5 pieces with a quorom of 3. Hide them in different places. If you ever forget your phrase, you only need to retrieve 3 of them to recreate your passphrase and use that to regenerate your private key.
