2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN][ICO] MoTA Global Combines Mobile-Money & Blockchain Tech To Drive Adoption on: October 13, 2020, 04:16:14 PM
TLDR:

MoTA Global In A Nutshell.

Mobile-money has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry, expanding to over 200 countries in under 10 years, particularly in Africa and parts of Asia.

Giving under-served communities digital financial access in the way mobile-money has with additional perks is something worth considering. Blockchain offers such perks including borderless transactions and immutability. How does blockchain scale to under-served and technologically constrained communities to empower them like mobile-money does?

MoTA Global mimics mobile-money technology and method on the blockchain to achieve the goal of expanding access to those communities limited by technology and other factors.

Also feel free to visit our telegram (https://t.me/motaglobal) and give us your views on the project. Thanks

It's a community driven project, it won't work any other way. All are welcome.

ABOUT MOTA GLOBAL

Mode of Transfer Alternative (MoTA) is a blockchain powered Decentralized Virtual Organisation (DVO) driven DeFi project built to enable secure global transfers and transactions for the under-served. The concept is specifically aimed at attracting the technophobe and unconnected by completely eliminating the technology barriers to adoption for persons who may not or cannot engage with the emerging blockchain technology. Beneficiaries would include the physically challenged, the technophobe and persons who are unconnected or off-grid.

Mobile-money has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry, expanding to over 200 countries in under 10 years, particularly in Africa and parts of Asia.

The GSMA State of the Industry Report on Mobile Money 2019 points that “Total transaction values grew by 20 per cent, reaching $690 billion in 2019, which means the industry is now processing close to $2 billion a day”, the report reads. GSMA forecasts that in 2023 more than $1 trillion will be transacted via mobile platforms annually, with over $2.8 billion a day.

Mobile money, which was originally used in a few markets, has become a global phenomenon. “With 290 live services across 95 countries,” as GSMA explains, this means of payment is entering the mainstream in most markets where access to financial services is limited.

“Mobile money services are available in 96 per cent of countries where less than a third of the population have an account at a formal financial institution.” “In most low-income countries, the path to financial inclusion is primarily through mobile money.

Giving under-served communities digital financial access in the way mobile-money has with additional perks is something worthwhile. Blockchain offers such perks including border-less transactions, decentralization and immutability which are lacking in mobile-money technology. How does blockchain scale to under-served and technologically constrained communities like mobile-money does?

MoTA Global by mimicking mobile-money technology and its approach on the blockchain, achieves the goal of expanding access to those communities limited by technology and new capabilities to these communities.

The MoTA project is addressing the constraints in micro-transfers and transactions across the globe by leveraging the immutability and censorship resistance of blockchain transactions with the convenience and flexibility of mobile-money technology. The decentralized MoTA Hub (MH) platform is designed to enable MTs trustlessly interact and facilitate transfers and transactions for under-served communities with the MoTA Network (MN) only providing dispute resolution.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Founder of bitcoin??? on: September 03, 2019, 09:04:05 PM
Strangely James Bilal Caan claims that he was the founder of bitcoin.. But lost his hard drive.. Is this possible??

What you guys think about James? Why he use this type of statement.. Specially his explanation about his hard drive?

Let say everything he says is true, in his own mind at least. The problems are these:

1) If he really did lose the HD with the development coins on them, feeling stupid, he would not tell anyone ever. He would have

simply said they were 'development coins' which they kinda were and say he 'burned' the keys. No one would admit being that

stupid, even if you were that stupid, especially with the ego of someone to think he/she could make a cryptocurrency to rule the world.

This would stay a secret till his/her grave! I mean really, why tell anyone something like this on development coins? At worst, you could

say you never bothered to keep keys because you were testing the concept and development of BTC not in its final form.

2) So say above happened, Satoshi is feeling low and a bit dumb. So what to do? It is obvious, fire up the laptop and makes some

more Bitcoin and this time secure the keys. So IF this guy was Satoshi and IF the above (1) happened, he/she would have at least

mined some 'early BTC addresses' and accumulated some 'decent' coin and say, I realize I have no real proof that I am Satoshi, but see

I was at 'least' a very, very, very early Bitcoin Adopter. Sh*t he said he lost faith and did not even do that.

3) experts have stated since he has pop'd on the scene that the picture is a computer composite.

There are about 9 more things that don't jive with this and his P.R. plug for $$$ on the site.

It is like everything else, people take shortcuts, no 'real' true evil scammers anymore. It is like they never saw an 'evil genius' cartoon!

At least be up to the level of my expectations of such when I was 5 years old. Alas, no skills!

Brad

You make some very good points. no. 2 especially. Whole thing could be a script for a movie but reading everything, it looks like they are shilling tabula rasa. Then again he could be satoshi. When you live in certain parts of the world, you know how his story is possible.

Tabula Rasa is what they are shilling. I would like to know what it involves, only then I will have a view.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / New Project Ideas With Tether (Stablecoins). Your Take on: January 27, 2019, 11:26:13 PM
In many parts of the world there are finance related constraints that feed into economic difficulties which fuel global challenges such as illegal migrations and wars. Some of the difficulties include basic cross-country financial transactions, access to payment gateways, e-commerce, banking and fund raising. Cryptocurrency is seen as a promising avenue to empower such societies and eliminate some finance related constraints. Cryptocurrency volatility as well as speed remain a disincentive for utility and rapid mass adoption. It is at this point that stablecoins get into the picture.

Can they provide the much needed stability while also offering the benefits associated with cryptocurrency?
Can they eliminate the constraints associated with country specific currencies?
Can they improve economic activities for disadvantaged societies in the short-term?

While there are many exchanges with forex-styled trading, escrows and casino related projects, I find this particular project https://crowdfundit.live/ which attempts to build a crowd funding platform integrating a cryptocurrency (tether USDT) interesting.

I have been wondering what other applications could be built on tether or other stablecoins to enable societies that may otherwise be excluded.

What are some of the ideas and what is your take on the potential of tether and other stable coins in this regard?
6  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: October 22, 2017, 02:06:28 AM
Personally, if I'm in a coffee shop or any store with some people, I pull out my wallet and subtly show them my Xapo debit card. Then they get curious on what kind of card is that since it doesnt look like the usual Mastercard or creditcard. Then I explain it from there on.

What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? Smiley

Organizing techtalks on the influence and prospects of bitcoin and other cryptos on our country given the limitations of doing transactions with existing mediums of exchange especially online in my country Ghana.
