I think this as close to being as bad as it can be.

3$ and some cents a gig hash that's on par with some preorder miners isn't it?

The new 28nm hardware with the A1 chip is running at half the power consumption of the ant. But you can get the ant now for less so personally I will run them for a bit until the A1 stuff comes down in price. Piece out the old farm and build the new.

They are also good for giving out discount coupons to existing customers, I got 5 ants for 4.72 BTC today Cheesy

Now more than 2 weeks passed since I requested a refund...  Huh
Anyone else received a refund these days?

I'm on week 2 waiting. Did they give you a confirmation or any timeline?

Flush your DNS cache then try again. ipconfig /flushdns

If you go to that domain you get the following message "119.9.72.212 uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.bitmaintech.com , bitmaintech.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)"

I placed my order on the regular site and didn't get any certificate errors, hope that means my order is good and not jacked!!!

I told myself I would not buy any more miners ... then Bitmain drops the price and puts a bunch of coupons in my account. Now I have another thash coming and not enough electricity to run it Cheesy
709  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The completely evaluation of Dragon 1 T bitcoin miner from china on: March 08, 2014, 04:32:58 AM
When these are 3000 I will jump in for 1. I am getting more power run to the basement next week...
X2 5 ants cost 5.5 BTC right now for the same hash rate. I would pay up to 6 for the extra efficiency but couldn't justify more for the short life of the returns.
710  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it time to shut down 1st Gen ASICs? on: March 07, 2014, 03:53:22 PM
Just some food for thought ... if the price goes up the unit remains profitable. Sometimes it is worth it to mine at a loss and hold, if lady luck is on your side you will end up ahead. Mining is a nice anonymous way to obtain BTC. My electricity cost is how I pay for my investment rather than cash to an exchange to buy BTC from my bank.
711  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 1.11 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 07, 2014, 03:47:25 PM

Stupid question but your new fans are setup to exhaust (pull the air out) that the stock fans are pushing through the heat sinks?

Yes, correct. It stays cool enough so the stock fans stay low rpm = win, unit is fine for next 100-150days of mining.

Sweet. I'm going to grab myself some Cougars Cheesy

I want one of these but don't have enough BTC left, spent it all on Ants!
713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 1.11 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 07, 2014, 03:16:58 PM
what type of fans you use, on the other side?

Turned 1 unit over so you can see it's bitmain stock fan.

Their RPM stays low with extra fan added. Very silent.
Could change both fans if you wish. But stock fans dont make too much noise when the unit stays cool.
Very easy to add front fans they can be connected directly. Just buy 4pins pwm fans.

Stupid question but your new fans are setup to exhaust (pull the air out) that the stock fans are pushing through the heat sinks?

I fail to see how this is Bitmains fault? If it was delivered someone would have had to sign and pay for it, this is UPS's problem.

716  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1] How to edit configuration file? on: March 05, 2014, 03:36:50 AM
Use WinSCP, it has a nice GUI, no archaic text editor :p

Your rates are WAY to high, it costs under $1 a day to run an antminer.
