Try near Benham Rise or in Benham Plateau.
Nope, that's a part of the Philippines.
Right in the middle of the pacific

As remote as possible to make sure telecommunication is almost impossible (apart from satellite), make it very difficult to get supplies in, be as unprotected as possible against hurricanes.
Great location  Cheesy
Also we could place massive cables on the sea bed, like it's done across the atlantic. I mean, with this massive budget we're thinking of that would be no problems.
It would not be hard getting supplies there, we'll just build an airport. No problems.
Hurricanes, well, we'd simply have to build hurricane safe buildings on the island. Shouldn't be that much of a problem using modern architecture. Smiley
I was thinking it might be a good place but it wooed be better to start building a 1 km x 1 km platform and then if the need for more land you build 1 more square, until you fulfilled the demand for land. The cheapest way doing it wooed be building a box of cement around it 2 m thick and then add stone on the outside of the cement wall and sand inside, and then place trees whit deep roots. (what I think no ex) In order to finance the project someone shude start up a fond, the thing is we want a land whit no oppression but we still want to get back our investments, whit will be huge, around 100 millions dollars. But I think it won’t be hard to get it back if we can make a safe heaven for tax dealers. They have to pay to stay on the island but it will be cheap compared to the huge amounts of money they have to tax in the own land.

Well my English is bad I aren’t native English speaker   Cool

love the ide ;Grin
I agree that it might be better to build it piece by piece, that would make the funding problem a bit less.

Any idea who's going to pay for all this in a country that doesn't raise any taxes from it's citizens?
This again shows that a lot of people are just dreamers and/or don't seem to be able to think rationally about things.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on: April 17, 2014, 09:13:13 AM
According to Sotoshi's white paper, it seems that a 51% attack would only disrupt current transactions but not affect the previous blocks.
Where can one find this?

I think he means the original paper by Satoshi https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf
However I can't find any explicit mentioning of the 51% attack in it.

Come on guys, winter is coming!

Had to download new episodes, was forced into it. I usually wait for 5 episodes to come out.
But everyone kept on bombarding me with spoilers, especially 4chan.

What show are you talking about? Also, why read comments on series in a place you know there might be spoilers?
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on: April 16, 2014, 08:19:55 PM
What about the previously discussed argument of just threatening/bribing the largest pool owners?
And what if the goal is not to make money but just kill the system? I could think of many reasons for (some) governments to do this.

Again, if my memory doesn't let me down, people have been doing this previous months too.
They probably hope to get paid sooner, but from my experience it doesn't save a lot of time.

As far as I know from the previous months, there's no fixed time zone or any strict deadline like that. Just make sure your not pm'ing him posts made after the 18th or so, a few hours more or less on the 17th won't make a difference.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on: April 16, 2014, 08:07:54 PM
If you're replying at the last message, there's no need to quote the previous message.

I could think of many reasons, one being money and greed because people could benefit greatly from a 51% attack.
Also don't forget governments.
9  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If I get free electricity... on: April 16, 2014, 08:03:49 PM
You will want to find the product with the highest GH/s per $, and ignore the GH/s per W figure. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#ASIC

Also, there is no such thing as free electricity. What you mean to say is, electricity that someone else is paying for.

Not necessarily so, I "pay" for electricity because its rolled into the cost of my fixed monthly rent.

Well, your landlord would go crazy if the bills comes out like $5000 right?

I was asking myself the same thing. Isn't there some kind of AUP/FUP in your contract? I cannot imagine your landlord receiving a bill 10*your monthly rent would consider it as normal usage, and pay for it.

I don't think many people would prefer having their loved ones injured or killed, being tortured or any kind of that stuff to defend bitcoin..
But I could always be wrong, let's hope they will never be put in that position.

seems like it's alot easier then some people claimed...
bribing 3 mining pool owners is much cheaper then buying the equipment

Never thought of it that way, good remark.
Let's hope this will never happen. They don't even need to be bribed, governments or criminal organizations could use other ways to force the pool owners to comply using other, more drastic methods.

I hope everything will get sorted out now, and everybody will get their coins back.
John K.: are you fully recovered now?

I wouldn't waste any more replying his posts, don't feed the troll or it will keep making useless offtopic posts.

I'm wanting to carry my posts over into the next month as I've only made 39 posts this period since:

Been very busy lately but might as well as enter again.

Starting posts: 583
Bitcoin address: 12oPBTzXnrsXD6kWoFcZ6tmzxgygpSzp1b

Thanks!

Since it is not set up on a tier system for your post count, it wouldn't really make a difference if you carried them over, or if you were paid out this month (as long as you at least hit the minimum post count for the month)

I thought that we could carry < 50 posts over to the next month so that we can achieve the payout mark then?

I've been so busy this month, so it would be great if I can carry them over Smiley

Why not just make 11 posts in 1 day instead to meet the minimum 50 posts requirement?
Would simplify things a lot for Stunna as well.

I've read the entire thread but I still wonder why one would want to build such thing as a bitcoin island?
What would be the purpose of it? Have I missed something major?
17  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: April 16, 2014, 04:16:23 PM
You asked for someone's opinion, I gave you mine  Smiley
In the end, it's all down to Stunna to decide but if I were you I would make sure to deduct sufficient posts.
18  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: April 16, 2014, 04:12:37 PM
I haven't watched Suits so I can't compare the two.
Nothing stops you from watching a trailer on YouTube or just spend 50 minutes of your time watching the first episode. If you like it, carry on  Wink
19  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: April 16, 2014, 04:09:28 PM
In my opinion (only checked the first 2 pages of all your posts) you should deduct a lot of posts.
You make a lot of very short not very value adding comments, such as "pm'ed" or "What's youtube" that some might see as spam.

Not sure if you're just trolling but mining bitcoin with GFX cards hasn't been profitable anymore for a very long time now.
