101  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: I got an idea: THROW AWAY THE BLOCKCHAIN on: December 17, 2017, 04:29:22 AM
Quote
The whole point of blockchain is to have a ledger where its fully transparent. What if you throw away the blockchain at block height 1,000,000 but I made a purchase for a house at block 950,000? Who can prove that I paid?

Ok you don't really know that a house was bought, or that person x paid person y amount x on a certain tx, in order to keep on transacting and for the network to keep functioning. It's a genesis block on a whole new blockchain, just like the first one. So it still works. If you need to prove something that happened before the new genesis block, then you can parse the old blockchain. I guess there should be "official" copies somehow, and maybe me saying "throw away" was just colorful (and accurate) hyperbole used to show how liberating it would be for 99.9% of everybody.
How will new nodes verifying the first block of the new chain know what all the starting balances are? They can't just check the last chain because they aren't going to download a copy of it in the first place. What if someone makes a first block of a new chain giving themselves a million extra coins? How will the nodes know that they are or aren't rightfully entitled to those coins without seeing transaction history?
102  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Block reward difference on: December 16, 2017, 09:46:53 PM
The miner that created the block is entitled to 12.5 BTC plus all of the transaction fees for transactions in that block. So, the difference is transaction fees, payments from users to miners for the miners to include their transactions in blocks, confirming them.
103  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Hero Small 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Experiment: STARTED on: December 11, 2017, 07:48:21 AM
We sure are getting destroyed against bitcoin here, but I'm not really disappointed - we're all a little more diversified, and I keep an eye on altcoins because of it! Plus we're still making returns relative to USD here.

We might have picked one of the craziest 10 month periods we could to do this experiment!  Tongue
104  Economy / Lending / Re: Seriously need 0.01Bitcoin on: December 09, 2017, 09:19:39 PM
Due to the recent bitcoin price rises, I have waived all late fees on this loan. Furthermore, it has been paid in full (BTC0.006) by a forum user and the account's password has just been changed to what it was before I secured it.
105  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Please help me to sign a time stamped message on my bitcoin cold wallet address on: December 09, 2017, 06:11:22 PM
A lot of people miss the fact that you can sign messages offline with Bitcoin Core without needing to sync the blockchain. It's very easy to do, it's just in the File menu. Additionally you do not need an internet connection which is important for cold storage. You just need a way to get Bitcoin Core to an offline computer (e.g. a secure flash drive).
106  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: NiceHash Hacked!! on: December 08, 2017, 02:54:33 AM
This loss would have been much less severe if NiceHash wasn't so greedy as to keep the minimum withdrawal so high (BTC0.01). Seriously, $100+ minimum withdrawal?
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: thoughts about ICO's using "Airdrops" on: December 07, 2017, 07:46:35 PM
Are we looking at splits like BCH too? Doesn't that technically fall under the airdrops umbrella, since a massive number of people were credited with them? Because, I don't really mind, all those are doing are moving altcoin money into new altcoins that you and I suddenly already have some of, which we can sell for bitcoin dividends to be reinvested!
108  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to unlock my wallet? [CRACKED!!] on: December 07, 2017, 05:36:52 AM
Dude, congratulations! I cannot imagine the emotional rollercoaster you must have just gone through!

That said, please be careful! This is $250,000 so any mistakes are unacceptable! I hope you put those coins on the exchange to sell them and not to store them, because exchanges are notoriously bad for long term storage!
109  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to unlock my wallet? on: December 07, 2017, 12:53:06 AM
If you know all of the characters, and the exact length of the password, then you really only have to try permutations of those characters until you get it. That sounds doable. If you're not certain of anything, though, it may take much, much longer, maybe even warranting going through wallet recovery services.

I would like to add a page about airdrops and catalog all the altcoins airdropped to Bitcoin addresses.
You were both confirmed Smiley
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [BTC] [Paying $100] To whoever helps me get these coins confirmed [Details Insid on: December 01, 2017, 03:00:31 AM
^^ Yes it was electrum - But when It never showed up in electrum so i exported the key and imported it to BC.I and now its like disappeared lol.

If I can't find the key - how long will it take to get rejected?

The transaction paying to 1KMXQWRo3iCSVRvY9VWEqTVcD31G8v4wjN has already confirmed and is irreversible (that is to say, it will never be rejected and is final). If you lost the private key to the address, the coins are probably permanently lost, unless you can find a copy of that key. The unconfirmed transaction spending the money from that address will never confirm as the other inputs to the transaction trace back to outputs with confirmed double spends.

I suggest thoroughly checking through all of your wallets to ensure that you have not overlooked this address, if it was yours to begin with.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [BTC] [Paying $100] To whoever helps me get these coins confirmed [Details Insid on: November 30, 2017, 05:42:49 AM
I did not see that the parent transaction had a confirmed double spend. Usually blockchain.info says (Spent, Spent) in that case instead of just (Spent). Maybe that isn't happening because this transaction has children? Huh

Disregard what I said in my last post. 1KMXQWRo3iCSVRvY9VWEqTVcD31G8v4wjN is the recipient of 0.03918896 BTC. Try exporting the private key of 1KMXQWRo3iCSVRvY9VWEqTVcD31G8v4wjN and importing it in Electrum.

A transaction sending the 0.05669711 BTC back to yourself with a 0.00104154 BTC fee should do the trick. You have 3 unconfirmed transactions plus this new 4th one that you have to pay for. If your wallet won't cooperate with you anymore, you can try to use coinbin to make the transaction from scratch. Go to New->Transaction, and paste your address in and click load. That should find your unconfirmed input that your wallet may be ignoring. Then paste your address in as an output, and for the amount put 0.05565557 (the full amount minus the fee). Submit the transaction and then go to the sign tab to sign it with your private key making it official. You can do this part offline if you want, considering it's a lot of money. Then broadcast the transaction. This will set all the transactions to 160 sat/b overall, which in the current fee economy is workable.

You could alternatively just wait it out. The transactions aren't lost or missing, they're unconfirmed and will confirm eventually if no action is taken in the coming hours/days. As long as you have the private key to 18bCTiTXLVajxnQn48VPmGGrVx2WeLWMKW, you will receive the money in the absence of any more double spends.
114  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan 0.007. Interest - 31%. Period 2weeks on: November 27, 2017, 08:06:16 PM
The 0.0032 is due today - for every day late, the amount owed will increase by 4.5%. Extra interest won't start being applied until the day after tomorrow, with today being Thanksgiving and all. Repayment address is the same Smiley
Seems OP tries to sell his account instead of loan. He hasn't had 2nd account to contact you or try to make alt account to replies you.
Nothing yet. Though it seems absurd someone would do this for BTC0.002, don't you think OP would get more by trying to find a buyer? Huh
If we never hear from OP again then I will just neg the account and move on.

115  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking For A .01 Loan - 25% Interest - 1 Week Turn Around on: November 24, 2017, 05:50:58 PM
Why would I be asking for a loan if I had an alt-coin that was equal in value to the loan i'm asking for? Doesn't make much sense to me.
Because then you can short sell, or go long on bitcoin, without needing to get out of other altcoins, since you'll get the full amount back once the loan is repaid, regardless of what the prices of both currencies has become. Normally if you think the price of something will go down, you would sell, but if you don't have any to sell, you can borrow some, and sell that, and buy it back for less when it is time to pay it back. That's why people use altcoins as collateral.

I have 20 Smart Cash Coins, will that work?
That stuff is going for $0.057 each according to coinmarketcap, making 20 worth $1.14. Ideally you want the collateral to be worth 120% of the amount you're borrowing, which would be more like $98, meaning $1.14 isn't going to cover it.

117  Economy / Lending / Re: Would like .008 loan; Repay .015 in 24 hrs on: November 23, 2017, 06:09:28 PM
The hacker didn't change my password. He used my password. I did not come here often anymore that is why I was late to realize that someone use my account to scam people. I just know someone used my account when you pm my account because its linked to my email.

If that were true, don't you think that you, the supposed account owner, should probably change the password to keep the hacker out? Or if you, the hacker, should change the password of the account making it impossible to be retrieved? Neither party changed the password. This doesn't add up, I simply cannot believe this account was used by more than one person in the last 30 days.

If you want that red mark removed, you should pay the amount you've incurred. You've wasted that account on such a petty dispute.

Very glad I found this.
Handytxg was an old account of mine that was a hacked a little bit back.
The hacker/scammer managed to somehow deplete all my LTC funds at the time (3.5LTC); Probably lack of oversight on my end.
Nonetheless, I'm still trying to gather back as much LTC as I can  Embarrassed
I apologize this had to happen to anyone. I hope the hacker did not get anyone else.
Despite the current rise in BTC, I still feel morally obligated to pay Taras back his .008 loan to keep things positive.

Taras, where should the funds be sent to?

We must put a stop to these hackers and scammers!

Be careful he is the real hacker, I'm the real owner of this account, suddenly I have bad rep from asking for lending which I didn't do it..
Too bad for him I change the password before he scam more people. But I fell bad didn't stop him on time.
According to your profile, that account's password wasn't changed in the last 30 days, and I funded your loan less than 30 days ago. Huh
120  Economy / Lending / Re: Seriously need 0.01Bitcoin on: November 18, 2017, 03:49:29 AM
You could pay to 1DDYVsvrr2Ge8f5Hi4HDwTG5A8Ags247NM instead if you prefer, that's up to you. I'll see your reply to this thread automatically anyways

Okay I will repay to this BTC address but I think it will take more days than usual, because of the fork, statement.

P.S I am still waiting for the SFX and XGM to be listed, but if it takes more than 1 week to be listed I'm still going to pay you with my own money. Thanks a lot.

Taras Good day, I might be able to pay on Monday or Tuesday as I will be receiving the XGM token and it could be enough to pay for my account, hoping to get back my account.  Smiley

P.S I just want to know how much interest will be compounded on Monday and Tuesday?

Regards,
Cobalt9317
Here's a table of what the amount (principal + interest) would be each day if you repaid it then:
11/10FridayBTC0.00600000
11/11SaturdayBTC0.00627000
11/12SundayBTC0.00655215
11/13MondayBTC0.00684699
11/14TuesdayBTC0.00715511
11/15WednesdayBTC0.00747709
11/16ThursdayBTC0.00781356

Good day Taras

Could you hold my account for a little longer I will pay in December 1 or earlier with 0.01BTC, because I think I will not have access to my SFX and XGM funds until hard fork is done, every exchange site is freezing to add new coin in their site.

P.S Sorry for the inconvenience if you don't like it you can default my account as you deem necessary.

Don't worry about it. I will never sell an account, so l will still have it when you pay it off. We can make the interest stop accumulating at BTC0.01 incl. capital.

Good day Taras

I'm holding my XGM token as of now and is there a way you could hold this as an exchange collateral for my account.

P.S I just need my account to earn something, I will be paying you an exact of 0.01BTC for my XGM.
Let me hear your thought.

Regards,
Cobalt9317

That token isn't going to be easy (maybe impossible) to liquidate if you default. Not that I think you will default or anything, but for that particular reason I cannot accept it as valid collateral. The Google search results for "XGM token" had this thread on the first page.
