Hi Mike,
I am a network researcher from Japan. These ideas are quite fascinating. I can imagine a whole series of apps coming next in Apple and android stores implementing these. Specially the less-interaction coffee consumption idea is awesome. And social identity recognition are also obvious to happen. Can't wait to see these coming. It's going to be a crypto ride.
4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Wanna buy KNCMiner? Prediction Data -> Time vs Hash Rate vs Difficulty Data set on: January 11, 2014, 05:01:38 PM
Bitcoin Network pretty much followed the 25% average difficulty increase table. In fact more than that.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visualizing Bitcoin Seizure by FBI on: January 10, 2014, 01:49:31 PM
Thanks.  Would you mind elaborating on the tools and techniques you used to render the data like that?

Steps + Tools:
     1. Node.js, JQuery web scraping from blockexplorer.com
     2. C++ boost library regex to parse block/ transaction data
     3. R programming language to manipulate data.
     4. R network package "igraph" to create bitcoin network.
     5. "rgexf" R package to export your graph to Gephi visualizer.
     6. Visualize your graph in Gephi with awesome Gephi layout plugins.

Yep. It's actually part of my network research. First of all, you need to have the whole or part (it depends on your focus of analysis) of the bitcoin blockchain or block information json/html formatted files downloaded. So, in my case I scraped htmls using node.js from blockexplorer.com because then it's very easy to parse the information. You can do it from blockchain.info too. Or you can even manipulate the block chain level db  databases that is constantly being downloaded in your computer by your bitcoin wallet. Such manipulator already exists such as Gavin's Bitcointools (https://github.com/gavinandresen/bitcointools) but outdated.
In my case, then all the block information as well as transaction information data are parsed from the html file using c++ boost library, basically regex. In fact you can use python, node.js, perl, ruby or even R to do these things. But obviously C++ is fast when you are dealing with massive data. The best combination will be C++ and R(RCpp package).
Now if you have parsed the transaction data, you need to create network edges. You can do it by pure R language and with useful R packages.
Then if you want to manipulate that network, the R package called "igraph"(http://igraph.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html) is the best one out there. With igraph you can plot nice graphs but not magnificently beautiful ones. There comes other visualization GUIs like gephi or graphviz.
I used gephi (https://gephi.org/). Now how do you take your graph to gephi from R,i.e. convert to .gexf file. There comes R to gephi exporter rgexf package(http://cran.fhcrc.org/web/packages/rgexf/index.html).
Once you get your network in gephi, then you will be astonished how many different things gephi can allow you to do. Gephi has so many plugins, layouts to create outstanding graphs, visualize and do other network analysis.
Finally, if anyone learns all these tools. They can manipulate anything in the web, any graphs. Hope this helps. Please post and share your works. Thank you.

Now you can see. I don't know why bitcointalk won't show google drive publicly shared link.. !!! I need to upload it to imgur.. Whoahhh.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Visualizing Bitcoin Seizure by FBI on: January 10, 2014, 09:17:34 AM
I think everyone in bitcoin space knows the FBI seizure of the dread pirate Robert's Silkroad(http://goo.gl/igg6CE). It was a big news back in October. And also someone has already tagged the FBI address in blockchain.info .
https://blockchain.info/address/1FfmbHfnpaZjKFvyi1okTjJJusN455paPH
https://blockchain.info/address/1F1tAaz5x1HUXrCNLbtMDqcw6o5GNn4xqX
So anyone who holds the blockchain can actually calculate the amount of BTC in the address and make it visual like I did. Hope everyone will enjoy. Look how fat the green FBI node is. It has eaten so much bitcoin !!!

Hi,
I just started using Abe. But I am not being able to run the server on my macbook i.g. 127.0.0.1:2750 is showing no connection. I was using sqlite database. And I was reading other users are creating their own abe-my.conf file. Why did you create that and what it contains.. I am sorry if these questions sound silly and pretty basic. Would you please show me a direction? My sqlite database hasn't been complete. But It gathered nearly 200000 blocks.Do I need to wait till it finishes? Or am I missing some fundamentals? Thank you.

My terminal results:

MacBook-Pro:bitcoin-abe zehadyzbdullahkhan$ python -m Abe.abe --dbtype=sqlite3 --connect-args=abe.sqlite --port 2750
no chain_id
catch_up_rpc: abort
Opened /Users/zehadyzbdullahkhan/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/blocks/blk00018.dat

Hi Steamboat,
I submitted the refund request through the google doc according to the format provided in the steamboat mail for 208 chips of batch 6 with the transaction ID:d54e66187243566f3d1d1d2bf3edc1a22a1ae228dfc9024530812e0a4f06d3b1 .
Is there a way to know how much refund request are there as well as what will be the approximate time to get refunded for the chips only?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au277u2T6_H3dGRjZkllM3R5cTdVXzZpd0h2Sm5Ub3c#gid=0
I hope all the people of this doc have also submitted their request through the form. Are there any people who are not in this list but still want refund?
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 02, 2013, 03:41:47 PM
Why the hell everyone is not asking for refund? Sebastian Ju has already got refund for his several batches. People !!! there is no way you are going to mine the amount of BTC that you spent. Just think about holding those BTC instead of investing on miners or these group buys. You would have made a huge profit by now. So, get refunds and hold those BTC. Or buy USD and later buy BTC when it crashes. Isn't that what we all should do now. At least you will not make any loss, only profit or no profit. Otherwise you are just being greedy, having delusional dreams that will never come true. And Steamboat should also be questioned in some issues by everyone and he should be more frequently updating. He is acting like a big fat boss who does things whenever he wishes though he took significant amount of money from us. What he has done is great, I appreciate him. He was also great in various initial things. But it happened because we participated in this group buy and agreed to pay him for his responsibilities. Some people are saying- you have taken risk, you have taken risk, now bear. What the hell? You haven't taken risk of what's actually happened or happening now. Now you have way to get out of this. So do it. All the people who are against refund are most likely from the earlier batches or people don't understand the difficulty of mining at all or just greedy of getting rich quick or just dreaming the BTC will  be like 10000 USD within a year. That's not gonna happen. There are thousands of other factors. It's really time to cut the faulty rope now for me.
However, what about the refund for the batch 6 people?I have seen pixl8tr and TxSteve from batch 6 has asked for refund in the Steamboat Refund google doc created by another user. I am also from batch 6. But according to Yifu, he is not going to refund for batch 6 right because it's out of the time range for refund. But according to Steamboat's last update, if 10000 chips gather to be refunded, he will ask for a refund.and all people who haven't asked for refund will be upgraded to the previous batch. Am I right? I am just trying to clarify these points. Can anyone clarify me? Because I have decided to get refund if possible.

I have tried not to put too much thought into the ongoings.

My only concern now is setting up a tip jar for Steamboat; for handling the group buys, being patient, giving excellent service, and obtaining the materials to build high-quality "shovels" and "pick axes" that us crazy miners need to have our crazy fun.

Steamboat, will you please provide a BTCitcoin address where we can send you gratuities?

Seriously? Your only concern now is giving Steamboat money? WTF.

I guess some people really DO have more money than sense.

Half of the people on these forums are absolutely insane. They swing from hero worshipers to reddit/slashdot-level trolls to scam artists of all varieties. The other half are regular folks, trying to make some money with a hobby.

There will be no refunds, people. You will not get more than you paid. Steamboat will live up to his end of the deal. Yifu will likely ship the chips within a few weeks or whenever he gets around to it. Avalon's disdain for their forum customers is clearly evident and I hope it hurts them in the future.

Legal action is a joke, discussion around it is useless. There was talk of legal action surrounding BFL... nothing. Legal action surrounding Pirate... nothing. Bitconica... nothing. By all means, express your anger at Avalon, but as for "doing something," be it taking up collections for steamboat to starting lawsuits against Avalon, at this point are ludicrous.

WTF

Oh Man, this bitcoin is killing me, killing me.. I often wish I had never heard of it..Wanting quick buck is the dark hole where we all dive... Now fighting against each other in that very darkness..lol.. Hope Yifu and steamboat bring the burning sun inside that damn hole to make us burst into tears out of joy  !!! Roll Eyes Grin

Another question: Can anyone ask to ship his fully assembled unit to his shipping address after taking hosting service for some months? For me, this year and till mid next year I won't be able to host the device at my place but from the mid-next year I want to bring back the device to my new place. I think that shouldn't be a problem, right ? What are the criteria?

That part was answered by steamboat earlier - he said there's no problems shipping it at any stage provided you pay the shipping costs...

@Kapz786, Thanks.. That's great indeed. Steamboat is awesome.
