1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchanges dont allow third party transfer, a friend cant send btc to my wallet? on: December 12, 2021, 05:40:39 PM

You're fine to use an exchange account to receive funds from friends, I don't think the exchanges are against that.
I have some cash lying around and I don't want to put the cash into my bank account (the bank might ask a lot of questions).
So I thought I would buy some btc from a friend of mine, pay him in cash and ask him to send the btc from his wallet to mine.
I think it has indeed to do with funding in fiat money from a bank account.
I just wanted to make sure before I ask someone to transfer btc to my wallet.
Thanks for all of the replies.

Can you tell us what is the name of that third-party wallet that you meant?  I have doubt that because of the address, there are some third-party exchange/wallets that don't support transferring Bitcoin using the SegWit address from the Legacy address and I experienced this already.

If your friend wallet address starts with "1" and assuming you're using SegWit address wallet which is start with "bc1", they aren't compatible which is you can't transfer your Bitcoin from Legacy to SegWit address, but in SegWit to Legacy, you can.

However, don't mind the hackers. Cheesy
They're smarter than us, the only one that could protect us is we should hold and have control in our private key and keep it safe.

If I'm wrong, please comment with further explanations.
Thanks forreplying.
My question was more of a general nature and from the replies I think that the exchange meant funding a new wallet with fiat money.
But I will look into this incompatible issue you mentioned and should I run into this issue I will come back here.

Please somebody enlighten me here.
Exchanges do not accept so-called third-party transfers when trying to fund a wallet.
But does that mean when I already have a wallet, say a friend who owes me money, could not send bitcoin to my wallet address?
If that was so, how is it then possible that hackers could send the stolen funds to their wallet address, as the stolen  funds were of course kept under a different name?
Or how can people ask for donations by giving their wallet address, as I have a different name than the owner of the wallet asking for donations?
So what is the deal here if an exchange claims that third-party funding is not allowed?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Please help me transfer crypto from Binance to Bitrue on: April 25, 2021, 01:05:12 PM
Please help me find the proper way to transfer funds
(AAVE coins) from Binance to Bitrue, so that I will be able to buy XDC on Bitrue.
My plans are to sell the AAVE on Binance for BTC.
Then I would withdraw the BTC amount and transfer it to Bitrue.
Once these funds arrive at my Bittrue account, I buy XDC with my BTC funds.
Is this the proper way of doing this transfer? I have never transfered funds from Binance to another exchange, so I thought that before I run the risk of having my coins disappear in cyberspace, I double check.
Thanks in advance.
It does not look like you are totally estranged to coin transaction among exchanges or wallet but if you doubt get on youtube for more tutorial. Take cognizant of the addresses and never send coin across exchange not to lose fund, also send fund/coin available in other exchanges. Ensure XDC/BTC pair trade is available on bitrue and if not, trade your BTC to the available pair.

I have bought XDC on Bitrue with BTC transfered from my Kraken account before.
But Kraken works with fiat. I bought the BTC with fiat and send the BTC from Kraken to Bitrue.
My question should have been much simpler:
Does Binance allow me to transfer BTC to Bitrue like Kraken.
If it was a small amount I wouldn't bother, but I don't want to  sell all my AAVE to BTC, only to learn I cannot transfer these BTC to Bitrue.
Probably I am just over-anxious, I thought it can't hurt to ask before I set this whole transaction into motion.

PS
I had bought EthLend on Binance which now show up as AAVE.

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem is that it could take again many years to recover on: April 20, 2021, 10:28:59 AM
I have no problems seeing a bright future for BTC, but after a major retracement it might again take many years to recover. Look at the last sell off down to $3700. It took almost 4 years to make new ATH.
So should this be the major, expected drop, it could again take many years for BTC to reach 100k.
Many people will be dead before BTC will reach 1 mio.

Grin A lot of people are already dead between yesterday to today and that dont have anything to do with whether Bitcoin will get back to $100k before a proper bear market or not. However it is not any time we see a correction, we scream bear market, all this shift are expected in the crypto market and if it so turned out to be the real Bear trend, then you know you most have been preparing for it all the while you where trading and dont be caught up. Lets not forget that this season, there where more Institution Investment into Bitcoin and other cryptos and I am hoping that this will change the nature of the length of the bear market if it does commence.

If it is really true that the situation is different than 2017/2018 because of institutional money, then we should see a massive rise soon after such a fall, because this is a great opportunity for institutions to load up on crypto.
We will see soon if this scenario will come to pass.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem is that it could take again many years to recover on: April 19, 2021, 12:24:26 PM
I would expect a post like this from a complete beginner, but not from someone who has been a member of the forum since 2017. The cryptocurrency market is not as stable as, say, the gold market, so everyone should accept sudden price changes and not start immediately with stories that a bear market is starting.

We are in less than 1 year after halving, and in a year when institutional players are entering huge amounts of money into Bitcoin, so the best is yet to come.  Consequently, all those who want a more cheap BTC do everything in their power to create fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) and thus lower the price. Judging by the comments I read yesterday and today, they succeeded in that - so everywhere we have questions about how long the bear market will last - and we are in the middle of a bull market that has experienced only a minor correction.

Recover from what? So at the beginning of the year the price of 1 BTC was around $30 000 - who with a little common sense can say that $55 000+ is not more than a satisfactory price at the moment?

I don't think it has to do with being naive, if I state that - should we have entered a bear market indeed - it might take many years for a recovery.
I joined this forum in 2017 at the height of the 2017 euphoria, only to see the drop to $3700 and a long recovery phase.
I don't know if this drop is just a correction,or if we experience the same as in 2017/2018, but if we have entered a bear market, we can expect to see the same picture we experienced from 2018-2021. That was all. Short phases of "bitcoin mania", interrupted by drawn out phases of recovery.
Yes, you and many here are correct, btc is more a "generational thing" than a get rich quick scheme. For that, if you are lucky, you have the altcoin market.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's come together and turn $500 into 500k through 3x10 exponential growth on: February 22, 2021, 09:16:42 AM
Its easy to say but kind of hard to achieve. Moreover you can make this profit in a single coin. Looking at x10 roi seems to be huge, why not make it x3 and keep doing rollover depending on how high the coin moves.
The pumping of any token or coin will consist in the fact that some group of people will buy this cryptocurrency at the current low price and thereby increase the demand for it and its price. And where is the guarantee that some other group simply will not use this to sell this cryptocurrency at an increased price? They will get their profits, and the last investors will be at a loss. No, these games are not worth playing. It's just a gamble. As a rule, such a deliberate increase in the price of a cryptocurrency then leads to the same sharp correction and then a fall in its price.

I can only repeat myself that I am not interested in "pumping" a token.
I had hoped that interested forum members would come together on this thread, discuss the merits of not more than 5 different coins, and then eventually decide on one coin.
And help each other with tips on how to obtain the coin.
As with my preferred token $helmet, it is not a straightforward process like just  going to Binance and buy it there. But nothing which can't be solved.
So instead of kind of wasting this space with endless discussions about the risks being involved to invest $500, is there anybody out there with another recommendation?
I will wait until tomorrow, in the meantime I will try to find out the buying procedures of $helmet.

Maybe if you had taken time to read and understand the nature of most comments here you would have save yourself the trouble and find interested people elsewhere,
the only thing you will get is either negative or discouraging post, or trolls doing there thing,
if i may ask why you say the process of buying $helmet is not straightforward! perhaps you can share more details here if you find any, i will also do my due diligent regarding the project.
To address your first point:
Indeed this might not be the best place in order to find like-minded people, but where is such a place?
I don't think it will be different on Twitter or Telegram.
Second point:
I was just glancing over on how to buy $helmet, maybe I am mistaken and it is a pretty straightforward way to buy these tokens.
But like I mentioned above, I will study it today and be back with my findings tomorrow.

I don't think you will get enough person here OP. You're just starting another Pump and Dump group but blatantly announcing it instead of shitposting links to a telegram. You're just replicating WallStreetBets.

Someone was able making $2000 to the $500000 just in less than a month through investing in the legit ico. It doesn't even need to three times trade when you can pick the right project.
We shall start it dude and there's not a reason to say not about that. We have the same change as those people who have become new millionaires.
Find a good project and invest in it.  Cheesy

But the problem here is that finding that "good" project. There's already been cases were seems to be good projects ends up scamming users. There even projects handled by reputable campaign managers that ends up being a failure or a scam. So saying "invest in the legit ico" is better said than done.

Believe it or not, I don't have a pump group in mind.
Never even thought of that.
My idea was more of a "think tank" to find the proper coin.

Ok, I did some research and found two very promising gems. A Defi project, (insurance), called $helmet and one project called ramenswap.
I need to do some more research though, on how two buy these coins.
I tend to place my money on $helmet though, since insurance has always been big bucks and it's on the BNC.

what make you believe if $helmet and ramenswap will make your moeny grow from $500 to $500K ?
because people need a strong reason to buy altcoins especially for a new altcoins mate

Not from 500 to 500k in one stroke. 3 steps a 10x.
$helmet is offering real data for all kinds of insurance. Insurance is where literally trillions if dollars are being moved annually. They need verified data to make their decisions. That's were $helmet comes in.
So big money, a real life case, even if they don't move 10x,I am convinced that every dollar invested will, for a minimum, stay one dollar. I just can't see taking a loss with investing in insurance, and on the other hand the sky could be the limit.

Not a lot of feedback it seems?
Lack of interest or do you find my proposal to be to naive?
Or if $500 is too much? Then invest $100 or even $50 only.

My idea is to come together and use this bull market in a one in a lifetime challenge to really make life changing profits through the power of exponential growth.
This ongoing bull market is the last chance during this decade to make this magnitude of life changing profits.
If we we succeed to pick the right coins three times, we could turn $500 into $500k.

$500 to $5000
$5000 to $50000
$50000 to $500000

Should we go bust, well $500 is money, but we won't gamble our life away.

Shall we start? I hope to get a lot of input, so that we could agree on our first coin soon.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No year of altcoins coming. All the big money is pouring into bitcoin. on: February 21, 2021, 12:14:17 PM
Well, let's hope that the investors, who feel that bitcoin has become too expensive, discover altcoins as an altetnative and pump their money into those coins like XLM, AAVE, Cardano, XDC, Vechain etc.
IMHO I believe that 2021 is the decisive year to show us wich direction the altcoin market will be going.
Since I am heavily invested in altcoins, there is nothing wrong with the altcoin market as a whole starting to trend up like crazy.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1% of Crypto Wallets hold 87% of all Bitcoins on: February 20, 2021, 07:54:47 PM
Such a skewed ratio can only mean that bitcoin will never be the instrument which will give financial liberty to the masses.
Since there is probably no way to change this ratio in favor of the "little man" in the street, bitcoin will be used to control the masses instead.
I am not sure if the inventor of Bitcoin had this result in mind when he wrote the code.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: No year of altcoins coming. All the big money is pouring into bitcoin. on: February 20, 2021, 01:54:54 PM
With the stratospheric rise of Bitcoin the altcoins should move big time as well.
But they do not and will not move, as all the institutional money is pouring into bitcoin.
We won't see a "year of the altcoins" for a very long time, at least not before bitcoin has reached one million.

What do you mean? haven't you seen the meteoric rise of Ethereum as well? Or ADA? Or Polkadot? or even BNB? Time has change, even if bitcoin's dominance reaches $60% or higher, still altcoin market can be in the bull run as well. And then we have the whole defi as well, billions of dollars are being lock for staking. So I guess you need to look and investigate further before you claim that we will not see a year of the altcoins.

Of course I have seen the meteoric rise of some altcoins, I am invested in a few myself and have made great profit.
But this uptrend is stalling right now and new money is needed to sustain this rise.
But at least for the moment it seems that the big guys have chosen bitcoin. I myself hope it will change with coins like XLM, but I admit I have my doubts.
