1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Cast XMR] high speed XMR/CryptoNight miner for RX Vega GPUs (2 KHash/s) on: January 15, 2018, 06:19:14 AM
Thanks, guys, solved at least some of my problems.

Motherboard config switched to gen 1 helped.
Fans are working good now.

I was able to lower power consumption from 1200 to  850 for 4 card rig. Had to use custom power tables in windows registry, since wattman does not allow you to customize entire curve, just 2 last points on it. So far smoth sailing for entire night. I kinda get a lot of computation errors - around 5%. Maybe the memory is set up to high.

hi guys, trying my first Radeon build. Got 8 Nitro+ Sapphire Vega 64. Right now I am testing it out with 4 plugged in.

Installed a blockchain driver.

Only in Radeon panel
Renabled HBCC Memory on each card
, did not use Afterburner or any other tool

Used settings :

Frequency% -30%
Frequency MHz - 1050 MAX
Manual fan speed - min 1300 max 3300
Power limit -20%

I am testing out on ETN mining. Got 1930-1940 H/s on each.

The problems I have right now.

Somehow the fan speed info in every tool I have ( Radeon panel and HWiNFO ) are showing wrong numbers.

When I've installed clean windows and Vegas were not recognized all fans were spinning. As soon as I have installed blockchain drivers the fans stopped, did not move at all at no load.

I guess that's what NITRO+ Sapphire version does - from what I've gathered on the net. They are set up so the fans kick in at certain temp level. They do have huge heatsink fans so it helps.

With no moving fans, I still got the info that they spin at 688 in Radeon settings panel. Wierd.

After I've manually changed speed control on the fans in the settings - bumping the low value to 1300 RPM they started to spin.

3 cards are spinning the fans all the time. Don't see any change in the speed from the sound and look, and the info on RPM is constant around 1600-1700.

One card for some reason has problems with fans - from time to time, every 15-20sec or so they go to complete stop, and just after they stop they start to spin up again. What could cause that? They are connected in the same fashion to PSU.

Now the power consumption. I'm a bit worried that they suck that much. I was hoping to go under 1500W for 8 card rig. Can't really say how much each card itself pulls - Can't find a way to show stats like that in Cast XMR miner.

Do you guys know how to show Wattage in the command line ?

So my 4 card right now pulls around 1200W - that is way to much.

Any ideas on how to make it more efficient?
How to better control the fans ?

No, clean sailing for mining for me.

Tried online wallet, to see if all does crybabies are right and it works like a charm. Sending and receiving ETN takes around 10 min tops for me. Did that 3 times back and forth.  I do not have Android phone, so can't check the mobile wallet tho. Waiting for iPhone version.

And why is it a joke ?  The coin will stabilize in a month or two. Showing a need in a pool like that will put a spotlight on ETN at Coinbase.

Help in a vote to get ETN on COINBASE. Every vote is crucial.

I have no problem with Cryptopia. Deposits show up fast - BTC and ETN around 10-15 minutes. Sometimes up to 30 min. Withdaws - today almost instant processing - took like 5 min from pending to complete.

Hello,  could anyone help me out with this?

The problem I'm having is the wallet taking too long to refresh the blockchain....  Since I like to make new wallets for each significant transaction, and each time I do and need to import the new generated paper wallet into the Cli wallet,  the block refresh for the new wallet takes over 52 minutes.  As you can imagine this is taking up a fair amount of time when I have to do it for every major transaction I make.

There must be some way to speed up the Refresh sync in the electroneum/monero simplewallet

Here's an example with a testing purposes wallet, check the time in windows...

I'm wondering what the bottle neck is here that's causing it to take so long,  My Ryzen 1600 cpu is only at around 14%,    and it's not even pegging one core at 100% so it's not a CPU or singlethread bottleneck..

I have a Samsung 850 pro 256gb SSD,  and it's using hardly any disk speed so it's not a disk access bottleneck..

It's only using about 170ish MB of ram....

So all I can think of is it's a network/internet bottleneck of some kind.....

There should be a way to download the entire Electroneum blockchain and have the wallet scan that for transactions upon creating a new recovered wallet using keys ,  using the fast SSD rather than slow network....?

I've read a little on this subject concerning monero,  which electroneum is a fork of,  anything that works for monero should also work for electroneum.

Here for example it mentions downloading the blockchain...
https://www.monero.how/tutorial-how-to-speed-up-initial-blockchain-sync
However,  I've not yet found how to download Electroneums .raw blockchain data from a trusted source as is available for monero...
And this seems for the most part only be for speeding up the Daemons initial Synchronization with the blockchain rather than the blockchain refresh upon creating a new wallet....

Anyone have any ideas?   Thankyou in advance :-)

The bottleneck is the offline wallet. Because an offline wallet does not know on which height of the blockchain it was created. So a wallet needs to sync all blocks on the first time (this is not the sync of the blockchain).
You can use the simplewallet for your wallet creation it should be much quicker. Or try out my GUI wallet, which is also based on the simplewallet and wallet-rpc: https://github.com/XzenTorXz/ElectroneumGUIWallet
If you want to throw hardware on it its cpu power you need.

I disagree that it's a bottleneck. No sure where you get your info, but new wallet did sync in 7 minutes to the while blockchain. If you know when you generated the wallet you can custom sync it from your time or from 0. No problem with that.

Why would you create a new wallet fo every transaction? This is an overkill. Create different level wallets. Long-term that you just put into, mid term and short term - that is it,  maybe few of each. But when you make a lot of transactions you should use the same wallet. It's like you would create a new paypal account for each transaction you do.  Any way I will check how long it takes for me to sync from scratch.

Once you have synced your node(electroneumd.exe) then syncing new/old wallets(electroneum-wallet-cli.exe) is very quick.

I know.. and this is not what we are talking about - Pilchard  stated that he creates wallets for every transaction. For me, that is just way too much. You don't need that at all.
2nd thing he said that it takes 52 minutes to update new wallet to be up to date with blockchain. That is a different thing - you can have your blockchain updated but when you generate new wallet it will still need to scan entire height - currently 61524 blocks.

I just did a test, run a wallet from scratch, and sync took exactly 7 minutes. So not that long for my taste.

To everyone who have problems with 0 balance on their wallets. I guess you are using command line CLIN wallet to check ? Did you sync it with blockchain ?

Guys, when it comes to mining on any pool there is a bunch of factors that will impact your result. The calculators on the site are verrrrrrrrry approximated.

I tried a lot of pools and resuts were way off. It's not their fault, it is how it is because:

Overal network hashrate changes over 24h period. That means that sometimes it is harder or easier to mine a coin.

Your pool has low hashrate and it takes hours or even a day to get a reward for a block. That just means that you have to be on that pool for a while - around a week to gather average from all the days. 1 day is not enough since your work might not be accounted for yet.

Your GPU sometimes is loosing connection or doing the job a bit to slow and is late with result = lowered actual delivered hashrate vs your local hashrate.

There is also a pool's fee to take under consideration.

All in all I did not had any problems with payouts to my mining wallet. Tried more than 10 pools - eveyone paid on time. But I got 12 KH/s rig so that waiting time for some of you might be a bit longer.

I don't know what you are talking about - I mine on different pools all the time. Almost no downtime and the reward is as expected. http://electroneum.ovh or easyhash works like a charm

how ? don't see any info regarding that.

Is there a way to check your paper status balance without using CLI wallet ?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LAUNCHED][POW]⚡ELECTRONEUM⚡Official Moderated Thread on: November 26, 2017, 09:33:48 PM
Guys explain to me one thing.

When you launch a CLI wallet and put in all the info from your paper, does that mean that the paper wallet is gone ? is the CLI a new wallet ? or is it just a gateway to your paper one. I'm confused a bit.

I'm going to test out your pool mate for few days. That hashparty is killing me. Their page is not working 50% of the time.

Where is all that hashpower on the network. The biggest pool I can find that is working is https://easyhash.io

Too many large pools are almost daily down... seems like someone doing this on purpose.

dude, do you see a spy under every rock?  They just go down, it happens. It's a new coin. New pools. People have to iron things out.  The world looks much better when you are looking for positive things, rather than see all the problems.

Cryptonoobs really are flooding the crypto landscape. How can such a ridiculous and pointless (and unoriginal!) project gain in value?! It's a a stillbirth, just doesn't know it yet

elaborate ? Why do you think this coin is ridiculous?
