1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: margin terminal - over 20 spot and futures exchanges! Bots and more on: May 19, 2021, 12:33:07 AM
I have been using this software since the beta, and i simply love it. But i hope one day that they would make dedicated apps for windows/linux, when running the windows client long time on windows it kinda uses lots of ressources. But i stil love the software, and i have 2 licenses  Grin
Don't forget MAC! Yes, it would be nice. The issue isn't truly with the OS or the code. One of those instances where we all share the love. It would have been impossible to have this big of a footprint on three platforms without an underlying coding platform like QT with a small IT shop. Crypto was just getting started and very risky. It took people with a keen understanding of markets and steel balls.

Hoping that an explanation might smooth the waters as it did for me after I was told the story.

The main issue is memory caching and memory management. Not a huge issue with linear or tabular data. But throw in all sizes of object data, then it is down to the language and the platform. Yes some OS's manage memory better than others as well. If you've been around that long then you'll have noticed things getting faster and more stable with fewer memory issues. The more refined QT gets as it ages, the better off things will be.

My remote server runs on Linux and I've really experienced many positive changes over the years.

Have fun with it, margin is getting better all the time!

I believe you only need 1  strategy to do what you ask. Here I have a strategy setup with 4 levels, the buy levels are $60 apart, the percentage of eff profit is 1%
I have the program set to add profit to allocated funds.
When I hit start it puts 4 buys out. Then as the buy takes place a sell order is created. After the sell order is filled it adds the reciprocal buy order adding in the profit to the buy order and thus the sell order and around we go.

The bottom picture is not showing off, the outcome is indicative of properly run scale strategies. Mind you this is also a very good market.

How did you do it?Making continooues order under one strategy?
and this "After the sell order is filled it adds the reciprocal buy order"...
IS there an option for that somewhere that I am missing? Thanks,

I was away when the question was asked and missed this.

It is the Scale Strategy Bot that has this behavior.

I've looked at the scalebot video and I think it does what I want but I'd like a confirmation.

I trade BTC-EUR on Kraken. My goal is to profit from any move up or down, increasing either my BTC stash or EUR stash. At the moment all the orders are layered by hand, which is time consuming, and if there is a move while I'm sleeping or doing something, I can miss some trades. When BTC goes up, I sell at some interval, then when it goes down, I buy back, with about 1% profit. I also do the reverse, it BTC goes down, I buy, then sell when it goes up.

With one scalebot in sell mode and one in buy mode, I should be able to do the same, right ?

Notice We will introduce a subscription option alongside lifetime license options from next week. Our lifetime license options will become more expensive so if someone is thinking about purchasing a license and hasn't already, it would be wise to do so before Monday. Nothing will change for our existing customers. Head over to margin.de to learn more what the margin trading terminal can do for you!

Thanks! I grabbed the last version 16 days ago and it has been working great!

Currently have a Lifetime License for a Standard Account in Margin.DE

Problem is that I quit trading for 2 good years and now want to sell my margin.de account

Is it fine to ask for permission here?
You'd be best served by writing to support@margin.de directly.

Potential Magic Moment approaching where optimism becomes belief. Every time BTC has transcended $11,000 we have been favored with nice gains, we are now at the doorstep.

I do hope though it takes a slow and ponderous time to rise to the apex so margin has an opportunity to speckle my graph with gold like it has in the past.

The graph is from V3 running on a Ubuntu 18.04.2 VPS.

Hope your summer is going as well as mine!

Happy Trading!

Congratulations and well done Margin Team! I waited until I had profit from the new exchange before posting this.

margin is super excited to announce a new partnership deal with KuCoin! As a KuCoin customer you don't need a license to trade on margin's trading terminal where you can run bots 24/7! We also have technical indicators, drawing tools, a pump/dump detector, Reddit and Twitter integrated into the terminal and language support for Chinese, Korean, Russian, Spanish and more. Download your free version at margin.de and start trading straight away!

A side note to Linux users I did have to add a few libraries to my barebones vps.
sudo apt install libxcb-xkb-dev libxkbcommon-*

With KuCoin being ranked #2 in real volume this can only be a win-win relationship.

All of this coming with an uptick in the market too, how good does it get?

Happy Trading,

Before you head out for the weekend make sure you have margin setup to do the trading for you.

Because BTC is coming through the squeeze and breaking to the high side.

and that means..

Happy Trading!  Grin

Hey Margin devs, I'm posting this because I dont know if you know this already but you might be loosing potential investors because of this
19 positive feedback
1 negative
Margin initially did not honour my Leonardo license I purchased in the December of 2017 and gave me a limit trial of Margin, however before the term was up extended my license to lifetime.  I have a trust level 0, however, if somebody with a trust level of 1 or higher puts in a positive it should bring it to zero. Maybe we/you could PM the user and tell them to check again because they should now have a license.

Many thanks to you both!

@mesavoida - saw your Trust post before it was moved to the public page, I couldn't respond directly because n00bs can't send or receive replies, I couldn't thank you personally.

Don't forget in a week or so when this is resolved to everyone's satisfaction to come back and delete the pictures of the negative banner  from your posts.

Thanks and Happy Trading!

Since April one of the things I have appreciated most about margin is its efficiency between bull runs. As things taper off and prepare for the next effort I kind of get bored looking at how high the market has to go before my trades resume trading. So what I've begun doing is putting in one additional trade on a 5 minute EMA window to kind of chum the waters. Actually if everyone did this same thing volumes would never fall to what they have this week.

All I'm saying is that for a few bucks invested on a day like today where most everything is in the green I put out a minimalist trade on multiple pair just to have something to watch, kind of comforting I think. If enough of them come through I'll make my sever fee everyday.  Cool

Hopefully this will help some of you to endure the Dog Days of Summer.  Grin

Happy Trading!

Binance Announcement for USDT Hodlers

Binance Will Change USDT Deposits & Withdrawals to be ERC20-based

This should help those using anonymous software wallets to consolidate wallets, IE Exodus.

I'm looking for an uptick in the market after the US holiday and certainly by mid-week next week.

Got to hurry back to watch the "ONE" coin! Wink

During yesterday's contraction I updated margin and it was the smoothest quickest update so for with no issues resuming strategies, it was spot on in every instance and amazingly it loaded from the start the outlandish number of pair I use.

Kudos to the margin team and thanks!

Thanks for the heads up on your settings, I'm new to margin and have been finding it hard to get good settings and results so will try yours..
Hey Richard, I've stuck with what I defined in the post you quoted. Only thing changing is I've been increasing the amount of the transactions as the market grows and only a few pair at a time as their sell orders come through. Each rally has given up some of the hodls I have left. I'm down from 3 pages to 1 page of hodls.

Having learned so much in the last year and a half, I started with mArgin maker strategy, it is hard to go wrong in an up all green market, but as things deteriorated I moved to Bollinger Band which is great, and now to EMA. Trading has really forced me to deal with my patience issues, I now trade with no more than 2% a pair.

My next lesson will be to how to gracefully exit the market in a downturn, I've already started by taking 20% out of the market for every 25% of earnings and not let the LET IT RIDE attitude prevail like in January and August of 2018 when I had half the cost of my retirement home and let it ride all the way to December when I had visions of living in a discarded dryer or washer box.  Shocked

Play with what I'm using, make subtle changes and make it your own, do it your own way once things stabilize for you, it will just feel right when your own  tweaks are added.  Grin

Happy Trading,

CTShaman

Getting the Most Bits for the Buck from your Ubuntu (any Linux) VPS while running margin:

I have found that most commodity (read cheap) VPS hosts do not pre-build Ubuntu images with swap. This is so they can lease you a larger server than you may really need.

Two antidotes for this particular malady are the packages swapspace and zram-config.

1.) swapspace -- This little known package was first introduced to me by Jonathan (of margin.de fame) in a post here a year and a half ago. I had always hand crafted my own swap and so never had a reason to look for anything else. But this is the far better way to go for persistent swap.
http://pqxx.org/development/swapspace/

2.) zram -- I only found zram yesterday. zram is included in the kernel on by default in Ubuntu since 16.04 but I had never heard of it. However it is not turned on by default. The package to do this is zram-config. Now on the onset it seems like you'll be creating more overhead in memory but it actually works very slick. It partitions swap drives in memory 1 per CPU then compresses the data to be stored there. It works so fast I've installed it on my laptop to keep anything from writing to the SSD swap, very fast and almost no overhead. Some people may opt to use this tool alone for increasing available memory.
https://www.cnx-software.com/2018/05/14/running-out-of-ram-in-ubuntu-enable-zram/

*Note reboot for zram is not required (in case you are in the middle of a rally).  Cheesy
# systemctl start zram-config

Here is the display for my 2 core VPS.

Both of these can be used together for snappy response times right up until the time the system CPU starts fluctuating from trying to manage the overload.

Happy Trading and may all your Hodls be Sodl!  Roll Eyes

Hi
Which OS do you suggest for Margin to be able to work stable without crashing etc?
Hey, if you've got Linux in your toolkit, I'd give that a try. There have been only two instances where I've logged in to the server and said OH SH*! it died. A few other times it happened when I got heavy handed with the graphical tools, not so much anymore as it is getting better all the time. Keep an eye on the usual things, you'll want a couple gig of memory and not run out of drive space.

The Great LONG!
https://www.fxstreet.com/cryptocurrencies/news/top-3-price-prediction-bitcoin-ripple-ethereum-two-steps-away-from-the-great-long-201905160913

I concur with this analysis as I have a BTC long waiting just below $8500 where we were on July 25, 2018 at the last apex just before BTC lost 60%.

Once the hodls from July 25th have cleared there should be an avalanche of money to carry us to the magic $10,000 BTC where FOMO will kick in, after that who knows maybe $14,700 by the end of summer?  Grin

Don't forget to set aside 20-25% from time to time for your rainy day fund.  Wink
