Why can't I just print one, and customize the amount? Sad
Tips are given by free will, there are no reason for cheating.

Hello, how would you gift a bitcoin to a non technical person?

and how would I distribute the private key to them?

I don't want to turn it into a riddle for them either. maybe I should just make them a blockchain.info account?
https://www.bctip.org is exactly what are you looking for.

Thanks everyone for good words!

We are definitely going to add multi-currency and multi-language support in the nearest time (can take about a week), as well as new print templates. Also we are thinking about opening template so everyone who not trust us can make tips himself using any web-wallet with unique URL.

Any help in translation is appreciated.
If you can provide quality translation, nobody offered this language before, then pls leave the message.

I've heard complain that the white text in the orange is too small for some printers.

Could we get a sample .pdf to test printing before sending BTC to a bunch of address ? I fear it would be a PITA to retrieve the BTC if I wasn't happy with the end result.

Sure, https://www.bctip.org/static/img/sample.pdf (embedded fonts) and https://www.bctip.org/static/img/sample.odt Open Office ODT (no fonts).

Hello Bitcoin community,

several weeks ago I got an idea aimed to popularize Bitcoins - give tips for domestic services in Bitcoins. We give tips regulary, so why don't use Bitcoins for this procees? It is convinient (you don't have to keep small cash bills for tips) and fun. Please take a look below and judge.

Anyone can print several papers with unique URL's, like instawallet. Each paper URL contain amount of Bitcoins equal to $1 to $10 dollars (according to the current exchange rate) and short description of what Bitcoin is. You can give the peace of paper to anyone and he/she will master the funds.

The killer feature is expiration period. If somebody not activated the tip (no matter of what reason) in some period, then funds from unused tips goes back to the owner's wallet. Nice and safe.

To enable the idea I created web service https://www.bctip.org. The web site generates printable A4 paper PDF, which contains this URLs and short instructions. It also helps you manage tips and provides some statistics.

Begin promote Bitcoins today - print BCTIP yourself and give away for domestic service you like!

The size of addresses can easily be increased later on. No changes to the protocol would be required. For now 2160 seems plenty.
good news then Smiley
32  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Are bitcoin addresses a limited resource? on: May 28, 2011, 08:58:56 AM
There are 2160 possible addresses, which is a ridiculous number. If every person on Earth makes ten addresses per second for 20 years (2x1018 total addresses), then the probability that at least two of these addresses collide is about 1.57x10-12.
There are a lot of address, it's true. But difficulty of generating one address is the same as calculating one hash. What if somebody starts to generate address using OpenCL with speed of 4 Ghashes? This guy can get 345600000000000 of addresses every day. 63072*1012 per year...

This is relatively slow, but remember - address is a limited resource. What if there are 1000000 people? What if in 10 years we can calculate 10 Thashes/sec easily?
