I get an "System error: Database I/O error" with 1.3b when catching up. I hadn't run the wallet for a while and was previously on 1.2, i have tried clearing all data (of course backing up wallet.dat first) but still the same error occurs.
Any thoughts?
I get this A LOT and it is frustrating. I believe someone posted above that this is due to one of the common used peers doing something weird. Pretty much the only solution is as above...delete the blockchain and begin again. **Once you have it downloaded, make a backup copy somewhere so next time you will be ahead. We believe this is resultant of the move to LevelDB at 1.1, and bad peers still existing. Adding banscore=1 to your .conf can help. |

Common misconception. MAX_MONEY is merely the maximal amount of money allowed in single transaction. Maximal amount of coins can be calculated by summing GetBlockValue with nHeight from 1 to infinity Usually it does match (sum of block values is same as MAX_MONEY), but I've seen coins where they got this wrong by error (For example "42" coin was intended to have max. amount of coins 42, but the max is actually infinite, Astrocoin had their max corrected from 210000 to 140000 once I've shown them they got the sum wrong  ), by design (max. number is infinity, like this coin, and as you can't put infinity there, you can find some arbitrarily large number there) and I've seen one coin, where MAX_MONEY was not constant but variable in time and this was intended as a part of coin design (NutCoin). For offerings the code is actually quite complex and - the result is not 10 million, just see the source Now the total amount of offerings in circulation is 992932.07 (block 193665), at block 10000000 it will be 2695515.38034441. Number of coins will increase only 0.01 coins per block from block approximately 2400000 until eternity and near 227 million blocks it will exceed 10 million offerings. newbie here, this coin looks like promising, what's the total amount of coins that will be mined?

Presenting Unobtanium 0.9.2.9:  Changelog: Changed the scale of measuring Un in to SI metric weights. Now, 1 Un = 1 kg/Un and the displays have been updated to allow showing your Un holdings in kilogramweight, gramweight, and milligramweight. A future release of Unobtanium will also add an additional integer to the decimal breakdown to allow for nanogramweight. 1 Un = 1 kg/Un = 1000 gm/Un = 1000000 mg/Un = 100000000 ng/Un At this point, the additional integer has been added as a place holder but the smallest divisible bit is 10 ng/Un. The additional decimal will require a hard-fork in the future and plenty of testing needs to be done prior to this change over. New graphics and icons! Very shiny, very nice.
