that "long before" scares me...

We are finalising a rebate process for affected users, more details to follow

What is rebate?  Roll Eyes

Interestingly they did not say that small insignificant "read only" word in the last tweet, that makes the last updates almost totally useless.
84  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: March 01, 2019, 01:27:31 PM
Just a clarification:

I am not saying I want an haircut. The haircut is only better of bankrupcy, in case of cryptopia could not cover losses, in that case moving, for example, a lawsuit to try to squeeze the lacking 10% and resulting to a fund seizure (for all) for years. I am only over thinking or thinking to far future because I've seen all this already happen, not much time ago.

1) cryptopia covers losses <- best option, it HAS to cover if can

2) haircut <- NO if 1) is possible

3) lawsuit to try to obtain 100% <- stupidest option if 2) is possible.

read only.... why read only? What is it useful for?
86  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: why so many addresses and private keys on: February 28, 2019, 12:28:33 AM
Sorry for bumping an old topic,

What's the point in generating more than 1 address? Is it a good thing to use every time different receive address? And if my funds are split among those address, can I send a certain amount (higher than the single address balance) with only a transaction?
87  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 27, 2019, 01:04:43 PM
nearly 10% of funds ($ 23M NZ$ ~ $16M US$) implies ~ $ 150M US$ worth of crypto is/was sitting on Cryptopia at the moment.
Assuming:
- The eval of 23 M is correct
- Nothing was recovered. Binace said they recovered something. Police also hinted they recovered something.

It's no use telling people to deposit to new addresses if the sites still in maintenance?
Actually they are saying not to deposit to the old addresses. They are not saying to deposit.

Good tweet, only 10%, that spread amongst all users is just another day in crypto land.
Why socialize the losses? Are you asking to be deposed of your holdings, even if nothing of yours was stolen and even if it was not your responsibility to protect the funds? Is there no responsibility for the operator?

so, if that will be the proposal, are you going to lawsuit cryptopia to gain another 10% and at the end getting anything for years?
For me 90% is good, it they will open SOON.

Quote from: bisti

I can only say that everything is clear with this manager putting official announcement ON DISCORD with a lot of explaining

Let's make a group law sue

Nothing is clear, especially what will the court decide.

Compare the court decisions in MtGox (Japan), and Cryptsy (Belize, USA) as the most characteristic and different cases. At MtGox case the court decided very good, clients will get the most of the found, recovered Bitcoins, and in Cryptsy case the court decided to sell very big majority of the coins (smaller altcoins) to the only 3 persons for few thousands USD only to each of that buyers, as I have read.

Is that risk acceptable to you?

How much percent of your invested money do you plan to get in the case similar to the second one? Did you calculate that?

I did not understand very well the "second method" but I at least want not to lose the not-steal coins (BTC)

the problem of months of delays, I've seen it happen with bitgrail, is that in the meanwhile users will lose patience and will organize, file lawsuits, and we'll se no money anymore. I prefer getting a % NOW instead of waiting for a % in years. crypto could not exist anymore in 5 years (or, yes be a fortune) but in the case btc will worth, let's say 100k$, you usually get today's value. It's a lose-lose solution.

USD value of stolen coins at this 1 year bear market is minimal. No matter how much we paid for our coins, that current value of stolen coin at the 1 year bear market is minimal or close to it.

That could mean, Cryptopia's obligations to us, to their clients, measured in USD in such bear market is very likely quite minimal.

If we can't get our coins or funds (remaining) that could mean: our losses or missed opportunities could very likely become maximized in this bear market, and Cryptopia's obligations to us could very likely become minimized.

In the eventual court proceedings we have to ask for preventing the clearance sale of our funds.

I mostly have stable coins there. NZDT, USDT and some non ETH but also ETC coins. I'd like to access at least my stable coins NOW or yesterday!

NZDT should be backed by NZD in cryptopia. No known external wallet other then by cryptopia.

I have been scamed by bittrex stealing only my BTG so I sent my holdings there to cryptopia depending on how to spend the least to fucking bittrex! I am not WILLING to share losses to ETH or ETH Token holders in cryptopia!!!

Fucking Anglosaxion cancer non existent customer service!!! No emails from both scam exchanges!

hold your horses there is no question at all that that would happen .. they cannot use other users funds to share the losses on eth thats theft.

But this is getting way out of hand we should all start contacting the NZ police to have them checkup on Cryptopia and urge them to let us take out our funds because they are just ignoring us.

in Bitgrail's case, they will just do that (in many years to come)

So, a week of "relentless work" aaaaand... silence.

Given how quickly they got pissed off in the past by things people said here or in some chat (yes Hort, I mean you among others), I guess they have read this thread and decided to never reopen at all because we are all just bitches and don't deserve it.. (and I am only kidding 50% here... if you ever watched a dev saying something nasty to them followed by having them delist the coin within a day on no other base than "dev is an asshole" you know what I am about)

Anyway, should they reopen anytime, imagine the crypto bank run this will result in. From reading here and judging from my own impression, I strongly believe that everybody just wants to get his/her coins off there, so I have my doubts if we will be seeing them reopen at all - no matter what, there would be no liquidity there (and therefor no notable trading fees) for months or even years to come.

If I would be running this exchange and I would have been plannning to reopen and make again money with trading fees (for example to cover lossses from the hack) I would have made my best to keep my customers confident, informed and in good faith.
But all we've got so far (after more than 35 days) is only looking and feeling like a stiff middle finger from them pointing towards us all. So at this late point in time I have no choice than to come to the conclusion that they do not want to reopen at all or at least not within a foreseeable timespan.

The best we all can do is to raise our right arm and move the hand in a waving manner.
(you are now waving your coins on Cryptopsya goodbye, you know you should have done this some 30days ago)

100% agree, and i wrote something similar a couple of weeks ago.

The difference with Bitgrail is that everything was traded against NANO thats why sharing the losses could happen that way If its gonna go down like that its not done.

Here it seems so far only Eth related stuff is missing (or are there new reports ? ) .

Taking a haircut how would that work on coins only listed on cryptopia you would just Dump into the market ?  I dont see how this would even be possible for some due to lack of buy support.

that's not the reason, the court decided that. If cryptopia will bankrupt I think will be the same... AND... wasn't there some1 asserting 300+ btc were moved/perhaps stealed?

I don't think it has been a protocol hack. Why only on cryptopia? I think has been an inside job or another type of security breach.
92  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 14, 2019, 10:45:38 PM
I can't believe they have still to "evaluate" how much funds have been stolen...

Just in case you didn't see this in my thread:

Fresh information from reddit - Cryptopia has permission to reopen

Hi guys,

I'm a journalist in NZ.

I just had some communication with police, who confirm they have wrapped up the on-site investigation.

From detective inspector Greg Murton: "Cryptopia management have full access to their facility and business premises and the Police investigation is not preventing their business from getting up and running again. However only Cryptopia management can speak to when it may be open again."

Story: https://www.nbr.co.nz/story/police-give-cryptopia-permission-reopen-investigation-heats

It's a shame, the link is only available for suscribers, so it's bearly impossible to read the post  Sad

https://www.reddit.com/r/Cryptopia/comments/apo493/cryptopia_has_permission_to_reopen/

thanks for the update,
from now on, the silence of cryptopia will be even more unacceptable and a bad sign.

if I can withdraw at least a 70% of my btc and 0% of tokens, will still be a "win" for me.
95  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 11, 2019, 11:49:48 PM
chances that something will happen on 15 feb are 0.00
96  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 11, 2019, 04:05:24 PM
what are you talking about.... a month has almost already passed...

that's nice this game: cryptopia: we cannot talk because of police - police: you must ask to cryptopia
97  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 10, 2019, 11:48:18 PM
the more days pass without news, the more I think the hack has been catastrophic and the percentage of stolen coin very high...
if, for example, hackers had access to btc wallets, bye bye cryptopia.

if it has been an inside job why only steal eth and tokens, why don't steal also bitcoins...  Roll Eyes

i consider my funds lost every day more.
98  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 09, 2019, 07:34:10 PM
bitfinex is a giant and made billions with tether, and also in this scenario evey day there is some1 who is afraid of their collapse.
99  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 06, 2019, 10:26:29 PM
in bitgrail case, the withdrawals were reopen for a couple of hours then suddenly closed again by the italian court, who declared bankrupcy months later, so also who had only no coin stolen (btc instead of nano) will have to wait forever. I think this is the worst solution for all.

Can anyone explain why MobileGO (EMGO) has been delisted from this exchange? Or, how they like to say,"disintegrated" ?
