1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: December 15, 2017, 12:12:35 PM
It depends on the wallet type you are using. 'Hot' wallets can be hacked into easily, since private keys is not stored safely. Hackers can get your data through phishing mechanisms, or you don't act carefully while using the Internet.

'Cold' wallet is more secure, as it stores your private keys online.

So, in a word, when choosing between the types of wallets - ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ - the cold one is certainly more.In terms of particular wallets, there is a range of reliable models out there.

Here are just a few exanples: Bitcoin Core, BitGo, BlockChain, Trezor, Ledger Nano S.Yet, of course, not all wallets will suit your needs in equal measure. Plus, some of them, although secure, lack a convenient interface.

In case you may be interested, you can check you the project I am working. It is a cryptowallet that tries to marry convenience with security, while also ensuring user’s anonymity - https://www.diamondguard.io/
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unsecured WiFi on: December 15, 2017, 11:38:05 AM
Yes, that can happen: Sometimes hackers get access to users’ devices through public wi-fi.
This is what happened with someone in Starbucks in Buenos Aires, if you follow news. Hackers target public places in order to infect many individual devices at once with mining software.
Actually, attempts to hijack public wi-fi are bound to increse in the near future. For hackers, this makes more sense, given that attacking a single personal device isn’t worth it. Using one laptop you can mine about $0,02=0,05 worth of cryptocurrency in one day. But if you mine cryptocurrency off 100–150 devices, that will give you $2–8. So, if you infect a few hundred routers with the mining malware, that could potentially bring you substantial returns.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia, India & China prepare to BAN bitcoin? on: December 10, 2017, 03:15:00 PM
I can only talk about Russia here.

Russia hasn't banned Bitcoin and isn't yet planning to) So I would say it is quite unlikely that more stringent measures will be introduced.

However, it's also true that the Kremlin has recently devised regulations that apply to cryptocurrency users. Namely, the government is planning to make all miners to register with the officials and pay taxes, while the ICO practices will be made to conform to practically the same standards as do IPOs.

In a nutshell, Russia is only figuring out what to do with bitcoin, and the government still allows people to keep cyrptocurrencies. Right now the Kremlin wants to see whether it can control it bitcoin users, while also gaining fiscal revenue from them. Whether this will work is another question, of course.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CryptoKitties proves Ethereum and it will only get better. on: December 10, 2017, 02:56:46 PM
I agree. The case with CryptoKitties does not so much indicate that the system has serious vulnerabilities, as it demonstrates that the Ethereum blockchain’s technological development lags behind its popularity. The system just didn’t have enough capacity to accommodate so many users at once.

Public's interest in Etherium also offers many positive moments. It means that we will have more experienced users with knowledge concerning proper storage of cryptocurrency, as well as about the means to protect their assets.

The most pertinent danger  for Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies and other types of blockchain-based digital money is centralization. There is still a possibility that a pool of rich individuals or companies may buy all the digital assets in a decentralized system
for their own financial or other benefit.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ANY ADVICE ON ICO PROMOTION? on: December 01, 2017, 07:46:09 PM
This is type of project is urgently needed in crypto space. Because only few hardware wallets are exist as monopoly in crypto space which are Trezor, Ledger Nano S,

Your project is looking good to be competitive and everyone can get hardware wallet at fair prices

If you want to launch your ICO then there are good platforms out there who can handle your ICO at cheaper price

Platform names : Kick, Fundyourself now, Starbase,

Thanks for suggesting those platforms, will look into it!
Sure, there are quite a few cryptowallets on the market. That's why we decided to expand Diamond Guards' functions beyond a simple hardware wallet, so it has the most effective security features, but also wireless connection function, VPN and screen interface.
Again, here is the link, where we explain how in particular our thing differs from other stuff - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2471742.0

Hi everyone,

I am planning to launch ICO. The product I've developed is Diamond Guard. Basically, it is a hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrency that can also be used as a node to build a decentralized VPN connection. This latter trick serves the function of protecting user's anonymity. Beyond that, the device has a screen interface, supports multi-factor security system (including biometrics) to protect user's info. In addition to that, Diamond Guard can be connected to other devices through Wi-Fi. Finally, Diamond Guard can also be used for PoS mining or computing.

More info if you are interested:https://www.diamondguard.io/

We are still in the pre-launch stage. So I am happy for any suggestions. Do you think the project can fly? Any advice on promotion/

Cheers
Russian team? Hardware wallets? with their laws... are you serious?

We are registered in Singapore. If you are interested, you can find more info about our ICO here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2471742.0

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safest way to keep bitcoins? on: December 01, 2017, 03:12:54 PM
The safest way to keep your bitcoins is to store them on a cold wallet.

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really secure? on: December 01, 2017, 02:24:32 PM
Bitcoin technology is quite secure, taken on its own. The danger lies in the infrastructure that you use for storing it or operating with it. Channels of communications may also be vulnerable to hackers. In the end, there is a human factor - people often do not pay heed to even elementary precaution when it comes to protecting their personal data.

How to keep your cryptomoneysafe? Well, for one make sure you don't use software with flimsy security. It is often the case that people use their cyrptowallet software in the same environemnt that they use for accessing Internet. This doubles the risk of contracting malware.

There is also a trade-off between convenience and security. Hardware tokens are quite secure. Yet they are not always convenient.

You can check out the announcement of the product I am working on, if you are interested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2471742.0

Basically, what I am trying to do is create a hardware wallet that is very secure, yet has convenient interface and can be connected with other devices
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is There Any Guaranteed Security to Cryptocurrency Holders? on: December 01, 2017, 02:00:03 PM
In general terms, cryptocurrencies are files, it is information. And the main question is, what sort of infrastucture do you use to store your cryptocurrency or make transactions using it.

In the end, there is hardly a solution that can protect you 100%. Always remember about a human factor - people often do not pay heed to even elementary precaution when it comes to protecting their personal data.

Existing types of infrastucture have pluses and minuses. Hardware tokens, used for storing private keys, are quite reliable, but not comfortable to use. On the other hand, many digital cryptocurrencies, although quite convenient, are vulnerable to malware.

I have been long interested in the subject myself, and have been involved in developing the solution that tries to marry high level of security and convenience into one interface. So if you are interested, you can check out my project: https://www.diamondguard.io/

DIAMOND GUARD
WE MAKE CRYPTOWORLD A SAFE PLACE

What is Diamond Guard?

With cryptocurrency thefts on the rise - and users’ anonymity routinely infringed upon – it is only natural that owners of digital assets feel increasingly concerned about their possessions. Diamond Guard is a personal device to protect your cryptocurrency, while also providing a safe interface for operations with it. The device can also be used as a VPN node to ensure user's anonymity and protect him or her from hacking attacks.

3 Things That Make Diamond Guard Special:

It is convenient to use
Diamond Guard can be connected to other devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Our device supports a screen interface to visualize operations, including cryptocurrency transfers.

It is virtually invulnerable to identity thefts and hacking attacks
Diamond Guard uses multifactor authentication system including hardware, digital and biometric mechanisms to protect owner’s assets. Additional controls also force user to press a special button on the device to confirm vital transactions or when accessing private keys.

It ensures user’s anonymity
Diamond Guard allows owner to create decentralized VPN connection disguised as SSL/http traffic. Using VPN also guarantees user’s protection from man-in-the-middle attacks.

Where are you established as an entity?

We are registered in Singapore as “QUASAR SYSTEMS SG PTE. LTD.” , 16 Raffles Quay, #33-02, Hong Leong Building, Singapore 048581. In future we are planning to organize a spin-off in the same jurisdiction.

Is your product just at the idea stage?

No. We already realized some modules, used technologies from our core business and are implementing it in Diamond Guard.

How we will be sure about your actions after crowdsale?

To ensure the transparency of our team's activities after carrying out the crowdsale and increasing the confidence of the buyers of the "GRDe" tokens, we will adhere to the principle of publishing quarterly reports revealing information about work on the product. The auditor will be selected after the end of the crowdsale by voting among the holders of the "GRDe" tokens.

What do I need to do in order to join your pre-ICO?

As per KYC/AML requirements we announce Whitelist registration for our pre-ICO.
