1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Asics + 4G internet / Is this working? on: August 25, 2021, 11:38:27 AM
Depends on your location and the quality of the 4g/5g network.
If were talking about a good quality network and you have good reception theres no reason you cant do it.

Latency is not an inherent problem with 4g/5g or really any network technology thats used but it can be a local issue.
You could check network uptime stats if theyre available but really the only way to know for sure is to try it out.

I have a 6 GPU Rig and I have 1 card throwing out a lot of memory errors. Yesterday I think I have about 600,000,000 errors on that 1 card before I even noticed it.

My Rig does not crash, I have a very good Valid/Stale Share Ratio (Approx 1% or less sometimes). They only way I knew I was getting errors was because I have been trying to learn to overclock/undervolt more and more so I downloaded HWinfo and noticed it there.

Should I be worried about the GPU errors if my Rig is running very stable. Card is XFX 570 4GB and hashing about 28 mh/s.

I plan on trying to play with the card some tonight or tomorrow after I get some chores done but if anyone thinks of a possible solution I would be glad to give it a shot.

I am a very slow learner when I am reading and applying new things (alone) for the first time.

I am also looking for someone to do some small 1:1 lessons to possibly help accelerate the learning curve if you know someone or if you can teach it yourself, shoot me a PM. Payment will be sent for the lesson of course.

Your memory clock is likely just too high. On some cards the errors dont seem to matter as much and the effective hashrate stays up despite them. On others Ive seen massive drops in effective hashrate and eventually the rig would crash.

Personally I go for 0 memory errors. The added stability affects porifitability more than the 1-3% extra hashrate.

I think that we need more work on polishing and  killing bugs dstm, cause still we have some questions about stability
if the question of stability really important, then your miner lose, unfortunately at the moment

Idk about that. If your rig is solid there shouldnt be any issues. Im at 7 days straight uptime on a 1060 rig.

all you fools using wood for frames is just dumb, you do realize your giving your rig the ability to start a fire if something goes wrong. last time I checked wood makes good fire starter metal does not. and to those that use a full shelf that's not all that smart cause when you have to move said shelf you have to take off all the hardware, unless your going to move it with the hardware on it and take a chance to damage something like an idiot, id swear society is getting more and more stupid with each passing day, sure wood is cheaper than a lot of metal, but it poses risks, if anyone who has seen what happens when things go horribly wrong they know, and likely do not use wood frames. only takes 1 part to malfunction in such a way you lose it all because yall were just too careless to put some actual thought into the crafting of your frames, ya can blame no one but yourself

You sound like you have no clue what you are talking about. If your machines are creating enough heat to set a wood frame on fire then you have already melted your hardware your hardware. Also, pretty sure no one with enough equipment to require a full rack is going to just be moving shit around all the time. The best part is how you complain about society getting more stupid when you are the one saying the stupid shit.

Go back and read what he actually wrote. Especially the part about MALFUNCTION.

The point youre obviously missing is that under normal operation wood is fine BUT if a component fails wood catches fire easily and when that fire has fuel it can burn your house down. A metal frame will not catch fire if a component fails and components by themselves dont have enough material to really burn explosively.

If youre using wood, plastic, cardboard(srs Ive seen a few) or any other easily flammable material to build your frames you are a moron. Its that simple. Electronics fail and when they do you dont want to have them light anything up...
