141  Other / Meta / Re: Focus on solutions & avoid personal attacks. on: April 15, 2019, 02:28:36 PM
If you don't like the system, make suggestions that will improve it.  Even if you don't have any suggestions, but don't like an aspect of the system, open the dialogue approaching the issue with a goal towards a resolution.  You might be surprised at how much support you find.
In most cases, users who try to make personal attacks or personal assasination are mostly got troubles with their shady activities, and they can not solve their issues by themselves. They don't have enough proof to prove that they are innocent.
Instead of accepting their faults and kinds of punishments as forum rules pointed out, they open personal attacks as a hope to solve issue. Unfortunately, in reality such personal assasination threads most likely result in worse situation (higher red trust, for example).

In a summary, if someone actually did something wrong, they should clearly know that which wrong they they did, even more than staffs, or DT members. In such cases, admiting mistakes and changing with progressive attitude might help them have second chances to come back. But, second chances won't come too soon, it takes long period of time to show that they actually change.
142  Other / Meta / Re: Isn't this copy-paste? [plagiarism] [user=yogg] on: April 15, 2019, 01:52:36 PM
Theymos was not the admin/moderator of this forum from day1. I have read in some earlier post that trio of  Satoshi, Sirius and Gavin used to administrate/moderate the forum. Most probably that post was deleted by any one of them.
I have what you mentioned. In reality, theymos took over the form from Sirius, sometime between 2012 and 2013.
It's surprising how well-documented history can become totally forgotten... Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

Cobra also owns the bitcointalk.org domain name. I consider the forum to be basically owned by or at least dedicated to the Bitcoin community, though; I don't call anyone an owner of the forum.

That wiki article is kind of terrible...
143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: April 15, 2019, 07:41:00 AM
Among top altcoins, I am proud of DASH, that is my favorite project too, because its ANN topic has not been burried with shit posts.
[Solutions] What happened with topics of top altcoins? Uncontrol shitshows
Even the fact that DASH has its own forum for years, the ANN topic in the bitcointalk forum has been controlled well, and better than topics of other top altcoins. I don't know how the DASH team control the topic, as self-moderated topic maybe, but it is only beneficial for the DASH project in general.
144  Other / Meta / Re: Isn't this copy-paste? [plagiarism] [user=yogg] on: April 15, 2019, 07:10:45 AM
The kind of posting approach is somehow violates the rule #12 of the forum.
Quote
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated).
Nevertheless, I saw so many newbies or low rank users spread out their advertisements around bunches of topics with the same contents. I have not seen perma ban appeals from them (maybe I missed their ban appeals), but I have a feeling that the sort of violation does not result in perma bans. If posters get bans due to violate the rule #12, maybe they will only get temp bans, not perma bans.
145  Other / Meta / [Solutions] What happened with topics of top altcoins? Uncontrol shitshows on: April 15, 2019, 07:00:25 AM
The activation of merit system changed the forum entirely. We all have seen magical things from the system.
However, somewhere in the forum, there are still shitshows around. I don't mention about places like Bounties (Altcoins) childboard where is abundantly burried with types of proof of authentication and so on.
There are some Announcement topics of top altcoins have been burried with spam posts from shitposters
It is obviously that those topics should be better managed or controlled by topics' authors. Unfortunately, some good altcoins have their ANN topics have not been controlled by OPs, whom might leave the forum, or very inactively recent months.
Report button plays its helpful function, but I thought that we should have additional effective solutions for that.

I give only some examples here, but you can find more.

Monero's ANN topic

146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Steps to check potential phising links on: April 15, 2019, 05:31:43 AM
There are also some browser's extensions that can prevent these kinds of phishing websites. You can install these kinds of browser extensions to extend your security browsing over the internet or use some website to identify if the particular website is included on some blacklist for suspected as a phishing site.
Check this out : [GUIDE] Use this for identifying Scam/Phishing/ Websites & Exchanges in Crypto
I added your topic into the SHOULD READ LIST in the OP, however I don't prefer to use browser's extensions because it will lead to another issues with potential harmful browser's extensions.
Personally, secure our devices by taking careful with all things we do when try connecting to Internet, sites, and so on are enough.
- Bookmarking all trusted, mostly used sites in browser.
- Don't visit unfamiliar sites.
- Don't hurry, and lazy too much to instantly double click / click on links and fall into traps.
- Don't be greedy with strange links that provides airdrops, bounties, give aways, and get trapped.
- Prepare more knowledge, and skills to secure our devices.
- Try to avoid visiting strange sites on mobile devices.

For all those things above, carefullness is the most important thing to keep us safe!
We can have a lot of knowledge, skillful, but if we are careless, we will get trapped some day.
147  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀✨[Rocket.Run] THERE WAS NO SUCH GAME, UNTIL NOW. JOIN THE THRILL. ✨🚀 on: April 15, 2019, 05:24:37 AM
The point is only 4 users reported the laggy issues, you pointed out, but I would like to have something more, and  I think others have expected those figures, too.
- How about the percentage of users reported laggy issues per total 'average' active users of Rocket.run platform?
- How many times those 4 users reported laggy issues?
It makes sense if we have only small percentage of users got troubles with laggy issues, no matter which reasons behind the laggy issues, it also means that the Rocket.run platform provides good, or at least acceptable playing experience to most of users.
If those reporters reported only one time, then after that their issues solved somehow, from their own role with their internet connection quality, for example. It will be not a big matter.
The lag issue was reported by a few (less than 4) people and we figured out that the issues were mostly due to internet connection or mobile phone capabilities.
Though it is not perfect, most people do not experience such lagging issues.
Though the loading time could take some time, it is mainly due to internet connection.
Anyway, it is good to know that Rocket.run team always spend time to improve the platform, and try bring better experience to users. The version for mobile browser is just one of good things Rocket.run team built up to improve the platform, so far.

148  Other / Meta / Re: [Suggestion]Number of deleted posts in a thread. on: April 15, 2019, 02:01:38 AM
This can very easily be manipulated, so the number doesn't mean anything.
Which type of manipulation you mentioned?
I thought that the new figure on total deleted posts make sense, because, at somewhat extents, it help us to know the level of spamming in each thread.
However, I think that we should move further than that. If such figure implemented, I suggest to separate it into two parts:
- One part is the figure of total delete posts in each thread, including posts deleted by OP, mods, users themselves.
- Second part is the figure of total delete posts in each thread by OP.
Almost the same ideas there:
For self-moderated threads we already have that, unless what you are proposing is a bit different?

Would all deleted posts be counted in the overall statistics?
- When OP deletes his own post.
- When mods delete a post.
- When any user deletes his own post.
But if it is implemented, it should be a additional statistics, that can be viewed if users want to get them, via drop-down list.

149  Other / Meta / Re: Ice bucket challange ... meh ... Rank up challenge ! on: April 14, 2019, 12:29:14 PM
I think that would be fun, but I can’t rank up anymore. Tongue
Outstanding guys should be eliminated from such challenge, like DdmrDdmr, who can rank up more to Hero, and Legendary. Even in the case the challenge open sooner, and DdmrDdmr does not earn enough merits for Legendary rank, he should be eliminated from such challenge. Because, if he has chance to join, he will win for sure with his fast merit-earning rate Grin
Maybe, the top 50 merit receivers should be excluded to join the challenge.

150  Economy / Reputation / Re: Being Part Of The League ( Am Now A Senior Member ) on: April 14, 2019, 12:22:26 PM
Hey cabalism13,
You actually finished your works faster than me. I aimed at the Full Member rank, lower than your target (Senior Member rank), but I believed that with my pace to get merits, I would have beaten you. Unfortunately, you moved faster than me last week. Anyway, you are a very good story than I will keep my eyes on, because sooner or later I will move to Full Member rank, then my next target will be a Senior Member. I wish that I can hit both two lines within next one year.
151  Other / Meta / Re: Ice bucket challange ... meh ... Rank up challenge ! on: April 14, 2019, 12:08:36 PM
7-day period is enough for the challenge, shorter period will be over challenging. Even with good posters, they totally depends on others users , including merit sources to received merits for their good posts. Other users, and merit sources, in turn have their own issues, some week they more actively log-in, and use the forum, read back and forth posts/ topics; some week they less actively use the forum than their usual levels.
The case becomes clearer if one user  mostly receive merits from local boards' merit sources. What will happen if merit sources turn into less actively in short period, less than 7 days?
Anyway, the new kind of challenge of the OP is interesting, and innovative. I don't see the exact rewards for winners mentioned in the OP, so can the OP clarify it more, please.

152  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Announcing BPIP - The Bitcointalk Public Information Project! on: April 14, 2019, 02:33:40 AM
Unbanned profiles have incorrect status at BPIP:

[BPIP] Limx Dev
[BPIP] ChiBitCTy
[BPIP] chimk
[BPIP] Marina Uni
[BPIP] ThatICOGuy
chimk has most likely been a merit source [in Russian board, maybe]. It is possible but it is strange if a merit source get auto ban. I have not seen ban appeal topic of chimk. So did chimk really get auto ban?
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: April 13, 2019, 03:11:20 AM
Reminder for DASH newcomers:

There are lots of attackers and abusers who always wait for chances and right time to do their 'works'. So, you should read the documents of DASH on tips to avoid Impersonation on well-known DASH members
You can visit full doc via the above links to get fully details, in short, I have some brief things for you:
Quote
Scammers may attempt to impersonate well-known community members and manipulate you into granting them access to your system or wallets. This is usually done via private messages on the forum, Discord or email. The attacks are often targeted against masternode owners. If you require technical assistance, it is best to ask in a public channel/forum or go to https://support.dash.org and open a ticket. If you engage in personal chat with a well-known community member, verify their identity by their chat history or through their publicly available cryptographic keys. All community members and Dash Core Group staff will be able to verify their identity using signed PGP messages. Identities can also be verified on Keybase:

154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: {Facts} Benefits of promoting (joining) a quality paid signature campaign. on: April 13, 2019, 01:50:22 AM
One of the main benefits of joining good paid campaigns is after joining them, participants won't think of too much about money. Instead, they will focus more on quality. It sounds hilarious and unbelievable for someone who don't join such high paid campaigns to realize, but there are some key reasons:
- High paid campaigns ask their participants make high quality post, or at least medium quality. I don't mention about their rules on total word-count of posts that will be potentially acceptable. Potentially acceptable means that a post should only be considered if it is not too short (wordcount help managers to do this step). Next, a long post does not be considered if it is totally a off-topic post.
- The fear of get kicking out by managers due to low quality posts: High paid campaigns are the most desired ones in the forum, they are so competitive campaigns. There are so many users who want to satisfy all strict rules to take a slot. Hence, applicants who get accepted to join has a fear in their mind about risks of losing their slots if they do poor quality posts.

Additionally, during their time to join high paid campaigns, they will learn more knowledge and skills during their time spent in good projects' topics, not shitty projects' topics.
155  Other / Meta / Re: Thoughts on people that use this forum as income source? on: April 13, 2019, 01:31:42 AM
So don't consider this forum for your main income source.
Forum income, whatever kind of income, and how much does forum income you can earn, should only be considered as secondary income, not main one, so I agreed with you. Even companies that run campaigns don't know that they will survive next one or two years. Everything in our lives change so fast, and changes are faster in crypto, at lightning speed, maybe (just a little metaphor here).
To be honest, I joined the forum firstly because I read that I can get money from bounties, but over time (since late of 2017) I realized that the forum has lots of valuable things, much valuable than bounties. The forum has its role as the place of most prestigiuos crypto enthusiasts, and they are very helpful. If someone got troubles with crypto issues, they can join the forum and ask for help. The forum is not the place of real-time support, but eventually support request will be solved by forum community. It's amazing, and I learn a lot of things within last one year Bear market. If Bear Market did not occur last year, maybe I did not focus too much on learning.  Lips sealed
156  Economy / Reputation / Re: Hhampuz Reputation Thread on: April 13, 2019, 12:35:30 AM
I participated in Hhampuz-managed campaigns since 2018, not too many campaigns due to my low rank and limited chance to apply with my rank, honestly.
I have some points to share with my memory with Hhampuz (from now on I will use manager, instead of Hhampuz):
- Manager is kind-hearted: He always give chances for his participants to have second chances. If a participant get troubles in real life, can not have time to use the forum, and finish works required by campaign rules, he or she can contact manager to announce, and may get acceptance to keep his or her slot for next week. Manager always welcome PMs to ask for help, such as campaign rules, support with postcheck issues, or anything relates to campaigns or even beyond campaigns' stuffs.
- Manager is generous: He actually contributed to Bitcointalk Charity Funds run by cabalism13 for Filipinos.
Bitcointalk Charity Program - Give Hope To Everyone $1 Is A Big Thing For Them

Generally, I have never had issues with Hhampuz in campaigns he managed, not sure about what happened with Collectibles, but the Trust of Hhampuz mainly come from collectibles, and it makes sense for his contribution, and reputation in Collectible space.
157  Other / Meta / Re: List of scam / fake bitcointalk sites on: April 13, 2019, 12:24:49 AM
Sure, most of them originated from the forum, then created new one with shady intention.
It is quite obvious that the persons behind the specific sites or even those that are not yet listed are also just a member here.
This is why we should be careful and it is one of main reasons I started the topic. It is clearly that for senior members who joined the forum for too long, the topic maybe unnecessary for them, because they have known about that very well. However, it is very helpful for users who don't have too much experience with bitcoin, crypto, and bitcointalk.org forum. They tend to easily to be trapped with such phising sites/ forums.
Quote
There are a lot of attempts trying to get your account information here and if you fall on their trap then your account here can be hacked. Well, on the other hand some of this are also trying to experiment if maybe they can also create sites that is very similar to btt in which they are the ones managing it.
Bitcointalk.org forum will hardly to be replaced by something else, it is unrealistic scenario. I even can not imagine that someday the forum will be replaced by others, that not come from theymos (like Epochtalk). Maybe it will only occur if bitcoin turn to dead some day, and another altcoin will replace the position of Bitcoin to be the King of crypto. It is unrealistic theory, too.
Quote
There is no good reason for me at all to create a new forum about bitcoin cause in the end if it is just too shady, not well managed and most especially if it threatens your security then most of the users will end up going back here
158  Other / Meta / Re: List of scam / fake bitcointalk sites on: April 12, 2019, 11:59:18 PM
I don’t think they are all necessarily scam sites. Some presumably want to actually be a place for discussion about bitcoin. Some also want to sell ads and will mirror this forum. Some may be giving people a way to read the forum without being subject to censorship such as the GFW in China, and similar censors in other countries.
It's is fine if they don't steal account passwords, or something like that for their shady purposes to steal account of their users on the bitcointalk.org forum.
Someone who easily fall into traps, and log in those sites with same information they log in here, same account name, same account passwords. Eventually, their account will get hacked. Of course, it is their responsibility to secure their accounts, but I think list of potential phising, scam, fake bitcointalk forum has its good role to help them.
159  Other / Meta / Re: List of scam / fake bitcointalk sites on: April 12, 2019, 04:02:09 PM
bitcointalk.org was already on my favourite list of sites
LOL, the bitcointalk.org site has been in my mind, I don't think that someday I will visit a site with bitcointalk prefix and suffix is .com, .com.shit., .org.shit. It's unrealistic, at least for me. Such guys who readily to visit such fake or phissing sites without making search via Google, or forum Search, or spending a couple of time to visit Meta, or tracing back to last posts/ last topics of theymos deserve to be scammed.
However, my topic aims at crypto newcomers, who are even unfamiliar with the forum, its structure, and fundamental topics.
160  Other / Meta / Re: List of scam / fake bitcointalk sites on: April 12, 2019, 11:33:16 AM
Not sure that the list of so far phising or fake bitcointalk sites are enough or not, if not if you or someone else have known about other sites, please give me information. Your post reminds that we should only mention the forum as 'bitcointalk.org' forum wherever and whenever we have to mention about the forum to crypto newcomers.
If we are lazy and don't mention the full name like this, our kindness might unintentionally turn to bad endings. Because newcomers might search the forum by themselves and end with phising/ fake sites.
That is a well known phishing site. Don't search like that over google. Always add the whole domain when you are searching. bitcointalk.org.
That way google will only show you results from the .org site and not the other phishing sites.
I posted the guide in the OP, but thanks for your intention to help.
The best solution not to see or block the site is to follow the guide below.
