A couple of suggestions that came to me by e-mail:
mung - "the smallest known bean" adzuki - "in keeping with Japanese names, the red mung bean, the smallest of the mung beans"
I have not been able to confirm the claim that mung is the smallest bean*, but I have confirmed that lentils are not beans, as contended in the e-mail.
By the same token, peas are not beans, either.
So, I guess, we have to decide if we are going to stick with "beans" or open it up to any legumes, or do we drop the bean analogy and go with the traditional "--oshi"/"--toshi" naming convention.
*I have seen references to mung beans as "among the smallest beans in the world" on a few websites.

boshi --- keep it simple keep it short (why i still like 'pea' .. can shorthand to P) then you're friends with me LOL We'll take all these suggestions and run them past our board and dev core. The finalists will be posted in a community poll. We are continuing to take suggestions for a few more days.

I think go with the flow and choose beanoshi. I mean after all it is still mostly his code.
The correct word for any altcoin is a combination of the coin's name and satoshi.
So BitBeanToshi, or Beantoshi for short.
The idea here makes a lot of sense; it makes it easier for people to remember the name.

When BitBean was first created, the base unit was named after nokat, the original developer, much like the bitcoin community named the satoshi after Satoshi Nakamoto. Since "nokat" tried to dump all of his coins and crash the BitBean blockchain shortly after launching it, we believe the name for this unit should be changed. To that end, we are asking the community to suggest appropriate names. Some suggestions have been put forward: shawn - after the current lead developer who spends many uncompensated hours working on the project lentil - "because they are tiny beans" Please help us add to this list, or add your support for the suggestions already submitted. We will conduct a more formal poll later. --whitebeard@bitbean.org, Bean Core, Director

The BitBean wallet seems to be not working for about a week. I submitted a request for help 5 days ago and have gotten no response except the automatic reply, Your request (#XXXX) has been received and is being reviewed by our support staff...
Interestingly, it did not show as "in maintenance" until immediately after I submitted a withdrawal request.

Well, this has changed into a broader conversation than the title I started with. Is there a way to change the name of the thread or should we just move it to a new one?

You have an image equivalent of this, like the btc-priceimg one? This will allow us to use it on the forum. (Especially in currency exchange).
Are you asking about the coinrates widget?

Thanks for posting this! It is very helpful!

Nice overview widget! Their website http://www.coinrates.info/ doesn't say how to get this image, but it does have some nicely presented data available.

Was having some trouble with cross-domain loading of attributes, so I re-vamped the code. <iframe id="wbc-coinbase-ticker" src="https://www.whitebeardscottage.com/pictures/iframes/coinbase/?tickerbackground=fff&pricecolor=000&autoupdate=false" style='height:90px;width:212px;border:none;overflow:visible;' scrolling="no"></iframe> or for the narrow version: <iframe id="wbc-coinbase-ticker" src="https://www.whitebeardscottage.com/pictures/iframes/coinbase_narrow/?tickerbackground=fff&pricecolor=000&autoupdate=false" style="height:90px;width:150px;border:none;overflow:visible;" scrolling="no"></iframe> If you have been using the widget on your site or for configuration details, the updated code and details are available here: https://www.whitebeardscottage.com/pictures/iframes/coinbase/embed.htmlIf you have been to this page before, you may need to force a re-load from the server.

Another option is to use the CoinGecko widget:
If you want a general/overall price widget, yes the CoinGecko widget is a good one, as is the Coindesk widget, mentioned previously. This widget is an exchange specific widget. I have other widgets in development, which will give other exchanges' data. Once I have several done I will make an exchange overview page on Whitebeard's Cottage that will include a general market widget to give an instant view of the market overall and on specific markets/regions.

Okay, I finally got around to adding the autoupdate option. When autoupdate is activated the refresh button disappears, and the prices are updated every 15 seconds. I, also, tweaked the styling a bit so it inserts more neatly into the page. I decided not to have an option to change the font, because properly sizing fonts would require a complicated attribute structure on this simple widget. If you wish to include this widget on your website, copy and paste the following code into a properly positioned div element: <iframe id="wbc-coinbase-ticker" src="https://www.whitebeardscottage.com/pictures/iframes/coinbase/" style='height:90px;width:212px;border:none;overflow:visible;' scrolling="no" tickerbackground="#fff" autoupdate="false"></iframe>
or If you wish to include this widget on your website, copy and paste the following code into a properly positioned div element: <iframe id="wbc-coinbase-ticker" src="https://www.whitebeardscottage.com/pictures/iframes/coinbase_narrow/" style="height:90px;width:150px;border:none;overflow:visible;" scrolling="no" tickerbackground="#fff" autoupdate="false"></iframe> You may customize the background color of the widget by editing the tickerbackground attribute to any legal color name, hex color number, or rgb color combination.* You may turn on automatic updating of the prices by editing the autoupdate attribute to "true". Case is important. Any other value or case will evaluate as false.* *These attributes are optional. If they are not included, defaults of "white" and "false" will be used respectively. Nice widget, but i have few suggestion : - I think your widget doesn't need refresh button because i think widget should refresh bitcoin price automatically every few seconds. - Maybe "Go to coinbase" button can be removed and make "coinbase" words become hyperlink which redirected to coinbase exchange. - Maybe different background color or different text styles
Thanks for the suggestions! I will add auto-update as an option. It was not added in this version because of expressed concerns about how many instances might be polling the coinbase api at any given time, but if a site really needs that functionality, it should be there. The title image is already a link to coinbase.com. The "go to coinbase" button is there to make sure a user is aware that they can get to coinbase via the widget. I will add custom font options, so it can appear native to the environment it appears in. These are all good suggestions! Thanks again!

Added ability to have custom background color. <iframe id="wbc-coinbase-ticker" src="https://www.whitebeardscottage.com/pictures/iframes/coinbase/" style='height:98px;width:222px;border:none;overflow:visible;' scrolling="no" allowTransparency='true' tickerbackground="#fff" ></iframe> You may customize the background color of the widget by editing the tickerbackground attribute to any legal color name, hex color number, or rgb color combination. This info is posted on Whitebeard's Cottage for both versions.

Would their be a future option to customise the background colour?
I'll add that...

So many "whens" and "ifs" and "what ifs"!
When and if such a time (or such tech) happens, we will have the ability to secure the blockchain against such vulnerabilities. (The bad guys won't be the only ones with access to the new tech!!) Then a mandatory fork in client software could be required to transact on it.
The security of the individual wallet would remain in the individuals control and realm of responsibility. If an individual wants to keep their paper wallets or wallet.dat files stored in a way they feel is secure without converting to the new "when and if" methods until such a time they deem proper to sweep those wallets into the re-born blockchain, then so be it.
