It's been a few red days since the 22000 satoshi support was broken and I guess that is normal. It is sad but I am holding for long term so these movements are small compared to what I am expecting in the future on the positive side.

It is strange with the successful release of Stealth Addresses and all the updates that has been released I would have exoecetd a jump up and not down. So I understand if people are disappointed. But if you believe in the prject long term this shouldn't really matter. Good things are coming out, the technology is progressing so everything is looking good. Don't panic and regret it later. if you sell make sure it is because of research and not based on FUD or short-term view.

I am not a financial expert or anything, just a few thoughts that I have had and learned during the last year in cryptos.

I agree. This can be seen as the second step to creating the DeepOnion multi-layered platform: TOR integration, Stealth Addresses, DeepSend, Zero-Knowledge Proofs and finally Private Smart Contracts.

What I like about the Stealth Addresses is that it protects the receiver making it impossible for an outside observer to link any (future) transactions to your identity. only the sender will know to whom he sent the $ONIONs.

And if it is possible to use exchanges (especially decentralized anonymous exchanges) as Mixers then the exchanges could act as the "DeepSend" function and even protect the senders identity. With combining this you could move your $ONIONs from your current "public" DO address to completely private Stealth Addresses. I guess only the exchange will know where you sent the $ONIONs but they can't know if the $ONIONs was sent to you or someone else as payment.

Stealth Addresses release could definitely cause a spike and if talk is also initiated with OKEx that could really drive the price up.
But it also depends on the overall crypto market. I think overall consensus is still a bit "cautious" so even good news might not give the "spikes" in price that it normally does. I have accumulated some $ONIONs during the dip and now I am waiting to see the overall crypto trend before buying more.

If you haven't you can update to the latest V.17.0 wallet. but before you start it up, take a copy of your wallet.dat file and .conf file (save somewhere safe). So much news this week and that is not including the BIG news that was hinted at by DogLover.
- Electrum Wallet compatability proposalf or HW Wallet: AWESOME. Voted Yes.
- Updated Desktop wallet appearance with Light and Dark Mode: Also Awesome. maybe not urgent but still a wanted update imo. Voted Yes
- DeepProtocol and DeepVault reduced fee hard Fork coming at block 540'000. AWESOME

I hope there will a marketing campaign regarding the desktop wallet update and the Elecrtum Wallet so that there is time to build up some hype and interest.

Like the Stealth Addresses now have been hinted at and now that it arrives it is almost "forgotten" in the crypto community. I think teh marketing team could have hyped this up a bit and announced that something was coming this week (a few weeks ago) building up the tension. It would have brought up the interest I think. I think they are learning and will do this for the future

The reason for 9.7k is because this is the level of previous resistance (and earlier support 2 months ago). This is a level I based on the previous history and the resistance haven't coincided with 10k but rather 9.7-9.8k.

Yes I think that is something important to remember. FUD can come from anywhere and big movements can still be affected by large holders (+1000 BTC). BTC could go to 12-15k but also down to 5k, it is hard to predict. But it is interesting to try and if you are quick to identify the trend you can make some quick profits.

I agree that the "bull-trap" scenario is a bit unlikely now but still it is worth mentioning since it was a hot topic. I hope that you are right and that FOMO might even drag the price past the first resistance at 11-12k since that is what happened last time. But since it happened last time I think the movements will be a bit "calmer" and more controlled. So I think we are going to encounter resistance and have more retracements even if we go past 10k.

I am still ready in moving a bit to the ALTs since if 10k is broken and a steady bull-trend starts then most ALTs have 50-80% discounts from ATH and could have some nice gains. But I will just be moving to the ALTs that I have researched and that have stayed active, shown progress during the bear market.

There is a lot of discussions going on if this is a bull-run, a bull-trap or consolidation. I don't think anyone really knows but maybe together we could figure some things out. Here are my thoughts:

• Next major resistance for BTC is at 9700 USD. Already testing this once and had a drastic drop
• Turned around at 8700 USD and have been steadily climbing since back over 9k. This shows continued strength

I think we are in a short-term consolidation between 8.7-9.7k where these two levels will determine a more middle-term trend on where BTC will go. If 9.7k is broken there is not much resistance until 11-12k so then we can expect a nice 15-20% gain. On the other hand if we go down below 8.7k then I think next level of resistance isn't until around 7.2-5k which is around 15-20% decrease. So the benefits/risks on either side are about equal so I am avoiding trading this until we can get a clear signal either way and I am also avoiding doing to much movement in my ALTs since this will be determined by BCT.

What are your thoughts?

I would say that is what they are doing. It is a privacy coin but it is also going to be platform with applications like DeepVault, WooCommernce plug-ins etc... If you look at roadmap smart contracts are also planned -> It is pretty much going to be a privacy platform in my mind.

I look forward to using the new signatures, they look great and the vote has been held in the DeepOnion forum so I think it won't be long until we have them!

No AirDrop today for the first time in 40 weeks. Feels a bit strange since it has gotten so normal to loook forward to it. instead now we are staking coins and looking forward to the future developments. More great things to come but part of me will always miss the friday AirDrop rush

It would be great if we could add DeepOnion as a possible crypto to use in gaming. That is a huge platform and I think gamers would be glad to sue it as well.

Yes, this is not something to miss today. 2000 $ONIONs are going to be given away to people who submitted questions and to attendees. Thinking what $ONION could be worth in the future that might be a lot of money, don't miss out!

I also think that regulations will play a role in general for cryptocurrencies. And the price of DeepOnion will of course depend a lot on BitCoin (especially in the coming year) since currently you pretty much must have BTC (or ETH/LTC) in order to get ALTs that means that these will probably stay the top dogs for the forseeable future. That also mean that if we have overall bear market then of course this will affect most (if not all) ALTs. Now people are talking about a shift in the trend towards bullsih, I am not sure I believe it 100% yet but of course I hope it is true.

And if the market would turn bullish then I think DeepOnion is in a good position to have some good gains. A clear bowl formation is forming, maybe sparking another bull-trend (in comparison to BTC price) for DeepOnion. I think what could set it off is if the BTC market starts to get even clearer bull-signals, like breaking 9k.

I still stand by my price prediciton for 2018, it was a long-term view since I figured there was probably going to be a eretracement at some point. But overall I am bullish on BTC and the crypto market in 2018 so I think that DeepOnion will once again go up to levels of ATH and even higher.

But everyone should do their own research and it is good to have many different views in a thread so it is great that you share your opinions (even if they differ from mine). And if you want to explain your reasoning a bit more that would be great, I always try to explain my view and see things from different prespectives and not get locked into a single view.

The reason my view on DeepOnion still stays the same is because, even though there has been a bear market and price has been dropping, development and growth of the community hasn't stopped. They have launched a bunch of new things in the last 3-4 months: Whitepaper, Updated Desktop Wallets with latest Tor integration (0.3.3.4-Alpha), Andorid Mobile Wallet. They are also  going to release VoteCentral within a week followed by Deepvault Webapplication. I think this shows that they are hard at work and not stopping because of market fluctuations. Despite all this price have gone down but I think that is because market sentiment had turned bearish and ALTs wasn't the place where people wanted to invest their money. If/When this changes I think, since DeepOnion has shown great strength in development and continued growth, that this might start a jump in evaluation of this project.

This is all my personal opinions and please let me hear yours!

I think it is a fair analysis. There are some more points to why choose AirDrop instead of ICO:

• With AirDrop you can get a good decentralization and distribution of your coin. Not only big money investors get a piece of the pie but also crypto enthusiast that believe in teh project can easily get involved and are encouraged to hold.
• As you say there is no initial fund gathering but instead allocations of coins are done for development. But that means that in the beginning the team pretty much works "pro-bono" until a value can be established in the project.
• As for the developers and creators they have of course gotten extra coins through the Founders Reward and that is usually like normal around 10% of total coin supply. But different from an ICO where they could run away with the money the team must show promise and actual value in the project for it to even be worth anything. It is only if they can keep showing sustained value that they will be able to sell off some of their Founder rewards to get value on their investment.

It is very hard to build a succesful AirDrop coin since the project can only continue if the intial work shows promise and the consensus is kept during the entire project that it has value. Since developers are payed in the currency everyone is working toward the same goal: Making this project have value.

That is why a succesful Airdrop could be much more promising investment oppurtunity than an outsold ICO imo. As I have mentioned I am no finacial advisor so please do your own research.

But this is in part of the reason i got interested in DeepOnion in the first place. They had managed to show value to the community and kept that up during the entire AirDrop process. Now that AirDrop is finishing I think that some will probably sell off some coins (the people that have just enjoyed the free 4-5% weekly interest) the rest will be holders that believe in the crypto long-term. And these people ahve been through the ups-and-downs of teh AirDrop stage so they won't sell cheap. That is why i think evaluation of the coin will rise as the AirDrop ends and the project "begins for real".
