1  Economy / Trading Discussion / BTC still not out of bear trendline? on: April 30, 2018, 10:30:06 AM
People said we broke the december down trendline but everyone is drawing it from the december upper wick down
If you ignore the wick this is what you get:

BTC seems to be reacting to it now and this would mean the down trend hasn't been broken yet.

Thoughts?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me recover bitcoin wallet, payment 10BTC on: February 13, 2018, 10:36:53 AM
Bitcoin wallet. Dat Purse 2010. Forgot the password from memory I remember it was bitcoin core. How do I decrypt a password are there any people who do it? Leave your contacts and feedback

Don't you have any clue about the possible passwords?

If not, then I'm afraid your chances are very low because none of the wallet recovery services are doing brute forcing without any password clues.
It's their policy to prevent them from working on stolen wallets.

You can use btcrecover yourself but it will take ages to brute force the wallet if you don't have any clue about the passwords.

IF you do have clues of possible passwords you used in the past and/or there's a pattern in how you usually create passwords, there's a very big chance you'll be able to recover it with btcrecover.

In the later case, let me know if you need help with this.

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad, my condolences.

Now, to answer your question, are you sure your dad stored the coins on his computer?
Do you know anything more about it? Like, did he password protect it? If so: any idea about possible passwords?

If he was using the Bitcoin Core client you should be looking for a file called wallet.dat. Just scan the complete harddisk for it.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bunch of old wallet.dat but I don't have Client. on: February 10, 2018, 08:07:04 AM

Demonizer, I think you better use pywallet to extract for the addresses from the wallet and use a block explorer to check the balances.
This way you don't need to install all wallets and have them sync etc... You can check the balances using online block explorers.

If you need help I can guide you trough it.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Legend of Satoshi Nakamato, FINAL STEP PUBLISHED.... 4.87 BTC GRAND PRIZE! on: February 01, 2018, 05:52:50 PM
what a coincidence!
right at the day BTC is going down very hard, and many people are (panick)selling.
at that exact day the 1FLAMEN6 puzzle got solved?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have my wallet.dat from a backup but I can't remember my passphrase on: January 29, 2018, 08:14:11 PM
@ thenarog

If you need more help with btcrecover, or just in general about trying to recover your lost password, I could help you but I think it's wise to get into a chat room where things can be discussed easier and step-by-step instructions (or advice) can be given rather that forum messages with all the delays etc... I always prefer a chat session because it's more interactive.

If you want my help, please send me pm and we'll setup a chat room.

PS: is there any reward for this if I can help you recover your password?

Yes, more information is required in order to help you out
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I think I found 241 BTC from 2014? on: January 22, 2018, 02:53:49 PM
Yeah, I suspect the wallet.dat file isn't a bitcoin wallet and loading a wallet from a different coin in bitcoin core will do strange things like that.
I've seen it happend with a friend a while ago.

I don't know about dates but it certainly showed bitcoin addresses and transactions too and none of them were in the blockchain.
Sounds like the same problem here..
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I think I found 241 BTC from 2014? on: January 22, 2018, 02:29:17 PM
just checked your images more closely.

There's +200 and -200, so that's 0
then there are couple other + transactions and a bigger - transaction.
Not all transactions are visibile in your screenshot but I suspect the last one at the bottom (not shown in your screenshot) is +5 ?

If so, then your wallet is empty.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I think I found 241 BTC from 2014? on: January 22, 2018, 02:23:16 PM
There are credit and debit transactions.
Maybe the wallet is just empty...

But I think you should exact the bitcoin addresses from it (pwallet), and check those on any online blockchain explorer like [Suspicious link removed].
If there's any balance there we can help you recovering it given the wallet.dat file is not encrypted or you know the passphrase.

If you need assistance with extracting the bitcoin addresses from your wallet.dat file, please send me a pm. I prefer a chat on skype for example for assisting people because a forum is too much work too keep track of all the things I do.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Possible wallet files on: January 19, 2018, 02:36:52 PM
After reinstalling windows you have a 25/1000 (= 2,5%) chance of your file being overwritten (assuming 1 TB hard drive) => 97,5% chance it still exists.
Thats just a theoretical way of calculating the probability.

You can't calculate the probability of the file still being there.
It all depends on how full his disk was before he formatted, what filesystem was in use, what happend after he reinstalled, etc...

If his disk was 90% full before he got into bitcoin, his wallet.dat file might be more at the end of the disk. Formatting the disk and reinstalling windows will mainly write to the beginning of the disk, leaving a good chance for the wallet.dat file to still be recoverable.

If he got into bitcoin early, when his disk was only 2,5% full, his wallet.dat file is probably more at the beginning of the disk and a reinstall might have overwritten all of it.

Updates to his wallet.dat file doesn't even necessary make a difference because of the way NTFS/FAT filesystems work.
Those filesystem reallocate a file to different sectors if they need more space but it can even be spread over multiple places on the disk. But if the wallet.dat file hasn't change much in size there's a good chance the file is lost forever after reinstalling windows.

But as I said there's no real way for calculating the probability.

You could try pywallet for scanning your disk from beginning to the end. If you need more help with that, feel free to contact me so I can help you through it step-by-step

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Possible wallet files on: January 17, 2018, 10:16:17 PM
You did a format in 2012/2013 and reinstalled an operating system and used that for a while, right?

If so, forget about it. Your wallet.dat is gone.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin wallet.dat corrupt on: January 15, 2018, 10:56:11 AM
Did you manage to recover the lost coins?
If not, feel free to message me.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost 3 out of 24 words of my passphrase. Bruteforce possible? on: January 13, 2018, 03:18:47 PM
Did you finally manage to recover it?
15  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider Thread 2.0 on: November 23, 2017, 07:00:27 AM
I said we lost 3/4 of the pool speed and that message got deleted.
What did I do wrong by writing that?
16  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider Thread 2.0 on: November 22, 2017, 08:07:18 PM
Never mind. Figured it out :-)

But I just noticed our pool performance dropped from over 2000Mkeys/sec to only 600MKeys/sec...
17  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider Thread 2.0 on: November 22, 2017, 07:51:38 PM
I have just copied over bench.pst, FOUND.txt, fund_h160.blf, kardashev-* and LBC to a different server and ran "./LBC -q --secret mysecret" but I get this back:

Server answer to 'query' is:
{
   "nil" : "wrong secret"
}

What files am I missing?
18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider Thread 2.0 on: November 21, 2017, 10:14:36 AM
I understand ;-) So I'll just have to wait....

One more question:

I have currently installed it on an old linux installation that was already on this computer, but I want a new / clean install with a chroot environment etc...
Can I just move LBC and all related files to the new disk without losing my current count of GKeys?
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider Thread 2.0 on: November 21, 2017, 09:50:10 AM
Okay.

Is there a good reason why the benchmark code isn't allowed to use the GPU when not reached the 3000GKeys yet?
It's only for benchmarking, right?
It would allow me to know which video card to allocate for this purpose without having to wait and start using it as soon as my 3000GKeys are there...

Are there any real plans already related to GPU acceleration? I've read about it that you want StreamHPC to do this work but that you need money in order to get this done.
But according to blockchain nobody has helped funding this (yet) ?

If GPU acceleration improvements aren't going to happen in a year or so I better use a 1050 I guess Smiley
20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider Thread 2.0 on: November 21, 2017, 09:38:55 AM
Now, can anyone tell me what to expect from GPU acceleration with an i7-3930K CPU?

Without a GPU I've got about 4.8MKeys/sec but I'm planning on adding a GPU.
I can't do benchmarks myself yet because it doesn't allow doing benchmarks for the period I'm not gpu authorized.
I need to wait until I get my 3000Gkeys (because I don't want to pay 0.1BTC or $810 for this permission...)

I can have a GTX 1050 for this or a GTX 1080TI but if the 1080TI isn't going to be a lot faster compared to the 1050 I prefer to keep the 1080TI for other purposes...
