61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: June 28, 2013, 11:56:24 PM
Dosent list them all, but dosent really need to.
Needs to be tended to though, CNC is dead, and some other coins should be listed under minor.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / - Getting On LiteCoin - on: June 28, 2013, 11:52:10 PM
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2013/jun/25/bitcoin-successors-litecoin-freicoin

Article from the guardian about LiteCoin and other for those who want more specifics on what LTC has to offer and why exactly it should be pushing through barriers to gain more value and attention not only to the crypto currency community.

"It isn't just technical characteristics that improve an alt-currency's chance of success. "If you did a statistical analysis of lots of different features, it seems to be a development team that wants to stick around and is reliable," says Johnathan Turrall, Fraser-Robinson's co-founder at MetaLair. He points to Litecoin (with Feathercoin as a strong contender for the second Scrypt-based slot), along with PPCoin, and Freicoin, based on strong development teams that communicate with their communities."

The thing we need to remember about Alts. here is that a fork, or alt. crypto will only have a chance at success if proper procedures were considered, implemented and carried out before and after their release, possibly the most important thing (as the above quote says" is the development behind the coin. The team responsible for the coins creation and further progress and community support.

Why do we see so many alts. here fail?  We should all know the answer, but there is nothing behind them, they are no different than those before them other than a few changes in the code, block sizes, target rate etc...

But what happens when you have a team behind a coin that goes all out to make sure the coin has long term value and sustainability? You have a coin you are looking for, the reason we are all here is to get into this world of cryptos as most of you wish you did when BitCoin was practically worthless.
This can happen again and probably will. I believe we are seeing it with LTC right now, there are 1 or 2 more alts right now that also have the possibility to explode, but I will not say which, that debate is up to you. We all have our preferences, most of you choose a coin because of a name, logo, and just because you want to grab as much as you can to dump it shortly after for a small profit, but the reality is, when we have more attention focuses on 1 or 2 coins rather than literally dozens, the value goes up and in the long run you make Much more of your initial investment.

But it takes time, dedication and community support to get it out to the public for more support and acceptance.

Happy mining and investing, RESEARCH, look into the coin, STUDY the developers, see if it all holds together, COMPARE it to others, then make your decision on which way to throw your hashing power, because in the end that is what decided which will get pushed to the top.

Bitcoin
First of all, sorry but I don't see Bitcoin being viable for everyday use by the average person, I don't see it being used to buy daily items like groceries, clothing, and to buy a quick coffee on the high street. You just cant stand at a till and wait 10 minutes for that first confirmation to go through,  before they pass you your cappuccino which is now cold!....and... sadly...'sooorry Sir/Madam, but we doown't dooo reeefunds, and you got no chance of getting one!',  (Damn.. why didn't I just pay in fiat).

On the other hand, given that Bitcoin is the Daddy of all alts, and will, or should, always be the front runner, I do see it as a means for banks, and companies, to transfer funds globally, quicker and 'much much' more efficiently than the current, labour intensive, extremely costly, time consuming method that is currently used. Also Bitcoin will prevail for online purchases, and to fund your gambling addiction  Wink

Litecoin
I do have my crystal ball in front of me  Smiley, and I see Litecoin, the coin used for settling bills, because it already has a large following and user base, quicker transactions, 2.5 minutes, and will be used, maybe while out at the local restaurant, or to pay your tab at a hotel you were staying..... Which you booked online with your Bitcoins.

An Ideal everyday use coin, would be which you will use at for example drivethrough, maybe like McDonalds or Burger king, or at a bar to buy drinks, and at the local supermarket, where every person in the queue behind you is hoping that you are 'not' a 'Bitcoiner', will have lightening fast confirmations, with transaction complete within a few seconds.

I see many coins trying to fit this description, and have been released lately, but the main selling point of a product, sadly, 'is the name'.
Who the hell wants to ask if they can pay in say, 'Feathercoin'.......'yes you can Sir, but do I get the whole chicken with that??'  Huh or so the list goes on. Nothing screams out. Maybe good ideas, but 'come on' get the name right first!

Bitbar
Is a very different sort of cryptocurrency. It is something that is intended to be worth more than a Bitcoin, many bitcoins in fact. It is something your 'old time' cryptocurrency enthusiast cant get their head around, seemingly as nothing can be worth more than a 'Bitcoin' in the cryptocurrency worlds eyes. Bitbar is hard to mine, only 3884 Bars have been mined to date since the beginning of May. The name itself screams what it is...It is a bar, just like a gold bar, but intended to be a bar of bitcoins!

I believe Bitbar to be a good investment for the future, even for the name alone, this thing is hard to mine, rare, and unique among all new alt currencies.

Killiz

Dont get involved with BitBar fellas... It was just another failed attempt to make another copy alt... The dev. was a troll as well who couldnt accept it failed but wouldnt do anything to further develop the coin.

I dont see any reason BTC should not be at $200, $250 by end of year, and by $500 within 2 years.

69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ripple a Scam? on: June 28, 2013, 10:53:33 PM
Dont get involved with ripple, Stick with BTC and LTC, right now though, BTC still has a long way to go. Too many people are trying to cash in on making something new based on BTC, while BTC can still rise a considerable amount yet.
70  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: June 28, 2013, 10:52:20 PM
I would like to be whitelisted please.

I have experience in BTC and LTC, have invested in BTC before it was $5, hopped on board with LTC at the start as well...

I am offering my help and advice in the newbie section for now, but would like to broaden that are rather than wait 4 hours.
71  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LTC possibilities, $25 + 1/4 of BTC ? on: June 28, 2013, 10:50:50 PM
$25 dollars is assuming the market is exactly the size of bitcoin, which is unrealistic. Let's say there is 10% the amount of fiat in LTC as there is in BTC, then take 1/4 of that since there are 4 times as many LTC as there are BTC, and you end up with 95*.1*.25 = 2.375. That's about where we are now. LTC will never surpass more than 25% of the price of BTC unless it surpasses it in market size.
But the thing is that market cap, or coin cap has nothign to do with its value... very little sure, but when your talking about the market cap for both BTC and LTC, it dosent matter.

If enough people were interested in LTC, it could rise to the same value as BTC, just a fact, that is if more people got into LTC than are into BTC, so its possible. However, highly unlikely, but you cannot factor in that argument.
72  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which alternate currency is the future? on: June 28, 2013, 10:48:25 PM
LTC...
Other than that, Do not get involved in the other alts listed in the alt thread, they are all pump and dumps...

The only other one I would suggest is PXC for the reason they have a high quality development team that is doing a lot for the coin, they have a website for free automated escrow for the coin, they will be releasing their own exchange soon, they have a partnership with a gaming network team already and they have more coming soon.
73  Other / Beginners & Help / LTC possibilities, $25 + 1/4 of BTC ? on: June 28, 2013, 10:37:35 PM
I am new to the forum, but have been invested in BitCoin before it was worth $5 each.

I am a supporter of LTC as well.
What are your aspirations, concerns or thoughts on LTC over the next year?

LTC being the only valuable alt. at this time to BTC, and only improving on some of BTC's flaws, I see no reason for LTC to be a quarter of BTC's value, $25 atleast.
Im not saying LTC follows BTC because it does not, Ive seen BTC go down as LTC went up and vice versa..... With LTC heading to MtGox, it will get into a more populated market and outreach to more people in the crypto community which will also help drive the price up, we know this. But we should also focus on mining and getting invested in LTC, getting it now while it's cheap, it'll surely make us all some money in the near future.
