1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance vs Coinbase Pro on: April 28, 2020, 09:34:58 PM
Binance is a gambling site.

They act, advertise, behave, and function as any modern online gambling business. Their HQ is Malta for foks sake; An island known for being a gambling paradise and money laundering "service" backed by the government.

Look at their cheap marketing material on their front page.

They look cheap but they will rekt you twice in unimaginative ways.

Their CEO is a real Shitcoin King, no joke.  Grin

On the other hand, Coinbase Pro is expensive af. They can't justify those fees.

3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Where to find blockchain jobs 🚀 on: March 29, 2018, 07:45:39 PM

Job recruiters are getting ready for a wave of requests to hire blockchain talent in 2018. The number of job postings on LinkedIn related to blockchain, cryptocurrency, and Bitcoin increased at least fourfold in 2017, according to data provided to Bloomberg. We are sure that jobs are expected to grow this year too, no doubt about it. Besides the Blockchain Gigs, the most popular sites for blockchain jobs are Indeed.com, AngelList, Linkedin, Crypto Jobs List, Blocktribe, Blockchainjobz, Crypto.Jobs, Joblift, and Upwork.

Let’s take a closer look at them.

Indeed.com
Indeed is an American worldwide employment-related search engine for job listings. The site aggregates job listings from thousands of websites, including job boards, staffing firms, associations, and company career pages.

Coindesk published statistics from Indeed.com indicating that the number of blockchain jobs posted in the U.S. has increased by 207 percent since December. Even more dramatically, the number of blockchain jobs has increased 631 percent since November 2015.

AngelList
AngelList is a website for startups, angel investors, and job-seekers looking to work at startups. There were at least 1,118 blockchain related jobs posted on AngelList at the time of writing this post.

LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a business- and employment-oriented social networking service that operates via websites and mobile apps. Blockchain-related positions in startups, legacy firms, and well-established blockchain projects such as Blockchain.com are commonly found on LinkedIn’s job openings page.

At the time of writing this article, there were 373 blockchain associated job openings in New York. 621 jobs in London, 90 in Amsterdam, and 82 blockchain openings in Singapore.

Crypto Jobs List
Their website launched last September with a strong focus on jobs in crypto and blockchain industries. The founders promised that they would not just scrape jobs from other websites but would publish unique openings. That is perhaps the reason why the number of open positions here is relatively small. Right now there are only 50 jobs posted on the website. The majority of job ads on the list are from startups.

Blocktribe
Their dedicated blockchain job board offers roles across a variety of emmerging tech sectros, including: blockchain, DLT, Ethereum, Hyperledger, R3, crypto currency and related distributed technologies. They claim more than 200 blockchain businesses signed up, thousands of registered job seekers, and a whopping total of 454 advertised.

Blockchainjobz
This is another blockchain-oriented job site. It has more than 1,000 openings in the industry with a wide range of positions related to development, management, design, sales, marketing, and finance. Most of the jobs are in startups based all over the world. In addition, they occasionally help job seekers by writing about how to find jobs in blockchain tech companies.

Crypto.jobs
CryptoJobs is the global job board for blockchain jobs similar to Blocktribe and Blockchainjobz. Right now they have 263 jobs listed for technical and non-technical roles.

Joblift
Joblift is a popular jobs aggregator with multiple domains – joblift.co.uk, joblift.de, joblift.fr and joblift.com oriented at British, German, French, and the US job markets respectively. Blockchain openings are mostly technical. The website might be not the best choice for the job seekers from the US, as just around 200 blockchain openings are currently present on Joblift which is a relatively small number. However, the other domains have a broad variety of local listings, especially the British and the German versions which have around 500 job ads each.

Upwork
This is a popular website for freelance jobs. Upwork currently has more than 1,200 blockchain openings. Around a half of them are technical positions. According to Upwork’s report, blockchain development was the second most-desired skill among the employers in the 3rd quarter of 2017. However, in the 4th quarter it disappeared from the Upwork’s top skills list, giving way to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency-related terms.

According to a source,  Upwork writing jobs come second in terms of the number of ads in the blockchain industry. They amount to 20% of all blockchain openings on the site. Among these listings are content writers and communication assistants.

Blockchain Gigs
The best blockchain jobs listing. Their mission is to accelerate the blockchain (r)evolution in Europe and beyond. They aim to connect blockchain talent with the opportunity at a massive scale. The process is simple, fast, and fun. Technical and non-technical roles, management positions, and internships…we have it all. Candidates can apply for jobs without registering. The application, including the candidate’s CV, goes straight to employer’s email.

A word to recruiters
Workers with blockchain experience are in short supply because the technology is so new, but MOOC (massive open online course) and certification programs are starting to make up for the dearth of degree programs, sources say. Recruiters might have to take new routes and be flexible about job requirements in order to hire the best blockchain developers.

The job market in the blockchain industry has seen tremendous growth. The prices of Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies have surged, fueling interest in cryptomarkets and new blockchain projects, and the demand for blockchain professionals has skyrocketed!

4  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Anyone has an experience with OTC Bitcoin trading? on: March 29, 2018, 07:27:20 PM
Is there a way for an average Joe to do over-the-counter trading?

Any tips? Experience?

Cheers!
What do you mean by over the counter trading? Never heard if it.

OTC trading...trading outside exchanges and official exchange rates. That's where real trading happens. Not on toy exchanges (Binance, Bitfinex, etc...)  Wink

The minimum I have seen to join is with $75,000, another one was minimum of 25 BTC.

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain job opportunities are skyrocketing on: March 28, 2018, 10:36:28 PM

Angel list released an article on how to get a blockchain job within the growing blockchain space. The report points out that jobs are popping up like crazy even for “non-techies”. Crypto related job posts have risen by more than 100 percent over the last six months. The hiring market for cryptocurrency-based technology remains relatively bullish.

Blockchain positions pay way better.
Job positions working with blockchain also pay better. What a great incentive for anyone looking to start a career in this revolutionary tech endeavor. Plus a lot more jobs are available nowadays. On average employees are being offered salaries 10-20 percent higher than non-crypto jobs can offer.

Good news for non-techies.
Career-seekers who prioritize flexibility should take note that blockchain-based startups are 22 percent more likely to offer remote positions. Expertise in blockchain is not quite required for non-technical jobs like marketing and operations. But we must strongly point out that the report does indicate that potential employees should understand the concepts and terminology.

There’s always the intern option for those who are not quite willing to commit to a career in cryptocurrency.

Yes, we have a number of interns as well every six months. – Brian Armstrong (CEO of Coinbase)

Just consider working in FinTech as a blockchain developer or marketing agent if you’re looking for a change. There’s always a future in technology.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]🔥[NO ICO] BLOCKCHAIN GIGS - New blockchain-only jobs portal 🚀 on: March 28, 2018, 08:55:09 PM
unfortunately, in your announcement and on the site I did not find enough information about the project. will there be more information? I would like to know more

As mentioned, it's not an ICO. It's a solo project, it's free, and it's pretty straightforward, really.

1. You check the jobs, and you apply to the one you like.
2. As an employer, just sign up and post a blockchain gig. All the applications will flow directly to your email inbox.  Wink

10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Straight HODL vs Trading on: March 28, 2018, 06:50:02 PM
Only 10% (in the better days) of BTC is actually trading. That's why the markets are heavily manipulated.

Hodling is an internet meme (started here) that people mistook for a financial advisor.

A lot of peeps forgot that bitcoin is supposed to be p2p electronic cash. And not an asset.

16  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why bitcoin is still dropping ? on: March 28, 2018, 05:48:51 PM
A lot of factors actually. Regulations, overbuying, hodling, and no lambo in sight.

As a result, not much new money is coming in at this stage.

Also, the trust of an average Joe in Bitcoin as an investment is plummeting due to its unpredictability in value.  Undecided

The old Bitcoin, as it stands now, is not a practical p2p electronic cash anymore. It's being neglected and glorified to "digital gold" where all you should do is to hodl. For currency, it needs to circulate constantly. Well, guess what. It doesn't.

So to answer your question, it's an asset. Sigh. 😔
