If you ever get the opportunity to sit in an air conditioned tractor, and mow 65 acres or so in a day, I highly recommend trying it.
It's like moving meditation. Very relaxing.
So nice getting back to nature.
* A LOT * of deer spotted over the past two seasons, and spotted 3 bucks on cam the other day. Our land is sanctuary grounds for deer, so love to see them settling in on the outskirts.
The coyotes and hogs have returned now that it's getting cooler, and looks like I'll be needing to bring my rifles with me this time of year, and have them in the tractor with me.
I don't relish the thought of culling invasive species, but the coyotes killed one of our calves this past season, and the hogs just fuck up fields everywhere.
Ahh Texas...
Are the hogs good for eating, have you eaten a wild invasive hog? I saw wild hogs near Marseille FR, don't know how much of a "problem" it is outside of the US |

As of Jan 1 2017 ATH was about 1400 and from Jan to Dec about 365 x 144 x 12.5 = 660k coins mined (rounded up) So 16.75m-0.660m = 16.09 mill coins were at a cost value under 1400 in December 2017 when price was 19900 so 14.2x1 at a minimum for 16 mill coins and only 2.345 million got sold that is fucking really impressive. There are many long term players in the world of BTC. Assuming the 86 or adjusted 83% are true numbers. Maybe I missed something but where does the 2.345M BTC sold number come from? Either way, 86% of bitcoin might have not moved, but it would be quite improbable for that to entail 86% of holders did not sell. It could be that 2 large holders did not budge. Or maybe every holder sold 14% of their btc in 2017. Aside the point, the Ducknmiller's zealot diagnosis is right. Separation of money and state changes things, and people want change. |

So these days US bans bitcoin while China and Russia unban bitcoin. Its a BRICS world in the making. Crazy how there is an Inverse Cramer ETF yet the bitcoin ETF was always tantalizingly too risky (or whatever flaky garbage was peddled to the public).
This move by the SEC is meant to precipitate legislation from an absolutely inept congress, not that I care to delve into US politics... And soon the Fed will be up for their next chicken-Wednesday. Rates will pause and maybe inflation will be "behind us". Most cannot digest the fact that a decrease in the rate of inflation is still inflation, and that is why I love the corn.

I always thought Jimbo was an old timer on here, but maybe not quite 77 . I have been on here lurking and otherwise for a bit, and always felt relatively young. OpSec regarding a/s/l always wigged me out so never wanted to dive into much detail. I've seen others on here unintentionally dox themselves, and think its correlated with age.
We might not need to give any exact age, but it still can be helpful to understand a sort of age group ... I'll give you a hint of my age as you like to collect data on us, I'm one of the first 4 IBM and Apple factory certified peops in my state. That is a fun clue, rules out South Dakota. Like many here I also work in computers, and note like "I work in tech" sales/HR folk. Since I am in my prime working age, it does change bitcoin's role in my portfolio. Hoping to be gainfully employed in a growing sector for a decade or so, then fuck off to some farm or lake like the greybeards around here. Specifically interested in homestead automation and DIY GMO grow ops |

Enjoying the public slowly realizing the Fed is worse with policy than the southpark episode with the headless chicken. They can't raise rates, the banks are holding garbage T bills from the QE era and will suffer great losses on their balance sheets. And Fed can't cut rates, inflation in the US is nothing to shoo away with a limp wrist. Bitcoin's value prop for the general public is clearer to them every day, and the next halving is right around the corner.
Feels good to be happy with bank failures, and happy with printer go brrrrr (make believe economy), best of luck to us

So if the economy really *isn't* fucked and things *are* ok overall then we should start seeing 10k jumps in a day, then some selling, then another 10k jump. We shall see.
TLDR: Maybe things aren't fucked, and we have been sold a bill of goods called DOOM!!!!!
Macroeconomically I still think things are f'd in the US of A. Without a diligent and fierce Volcker approach to crush inflation, it continues to fester. I do not mind this, and maybe the "new" paradigm for world economies runs on inflation/debt to fake growth as the depopulation plateau begins to show its face here on earth. So legacy finance cooks the books harder than ever, and the Fed tip-toes letting inflation rest around 4% indefinitely. The CPI is misleading as is, and it is getting changed for... reasons. The other route is the hard one, and we will have to see bitcoin live through a true (not flash) recession/contraction. There are many things I like about btc, but one is that it's my bet against the FED, the WEF, the IMF. Watching FED fumbling inflation has been a pleasure |

To do a regression on bitcoin's long term trend, get rid of the manic price actions (the stuff in blue). Do a regression on the red data. You get the yellow line. Its equation is price = 10^(.09242*sqrt(d)-1.5011) where d is the days elapsed since September 11, 2010  I project a brief top between $150k and $200k around late 2021, followed by a grinding bear market reverting eventually to the base trend. Well, there are 4128 days between September 11 2010 and December 30 2021. Putting this into formula gives the price of $27342 , nowhere close to 150-200K Details: sqrt of 4128 is about 64.25, multiplication by 0.09242 gives about 5.938, which after subtracting 1.5011 results in 4.43684, which is your exponent. 10^4.43684 is 27342 maybe, adjust the number you are subtracting? So I took a snippet of a recent JJG comment and put it into a prompted language generator (talktotransformer.com) and got the following: Yeah, I know that the terms of bitcoin and cryptocurrency are really ongoingly convoluted in mainsteam discussions too, I could easily follow a post like, "let's focus on politics and maybe pick a side," that's not how I think about it. We need a way to award people revealing factual, relevant truth to the world. Right now, only hype and sensationalism is rewarded with views and ad revenue.
With a permanent distributed record, we can advocate truth from logical consistency. It will be indirectly dependent on consensus (the blockchain), but a sequence of assertions that do not self-contradict could be a measure of "truth". The longer the better |

Sometimes I accidentally go to bitcoinwisdom.com and it displays a cached webpage that shows an old $4k/btc. But this time when I thought I entered the wrong URL I was unpleasantly surprised!  As far as black swans go, I am going to care more about reliable employment and survival. This sucks but serves as some serious perspective. Very interested to see if BTC can roll through this black swan. No circuit breakers, no damn Fed printing trillions. |

Quick death rate calcs: Going by death/(death+cured) we get 38.5%. Going by death/infected and rolling 2 weeks back we get just under 25%. What the hell is up with the italians? It's been clear to me that all of the "statistics" are heavily weighted by testing strategy, and also by test accuracy. So Italy just tests people getting fucked by Covid19. Also, aside from China it looks like other country (S Korea, Taiwan) have curbed spread greatly by lockdown. But the grain of salt is that they probably are not testing as much. When all is said and done I say it is highly contagious, kinda deadly to older folk, but severity depends on viral load. Just a hunch. So when gov does total lockdown quarantine it does not entirely stop the spread, but rather many infections are mild and untested. Do people have reason to refute what I am saying? Otherwise, China, taiwan and others are totally deceiving with their testing strat to fake a recovery, which is bad news bears [if true] |
