Odd... I'll get something up on op fab soon, I just assumed someone would jump in there quickly, so didn't bother to put an ad up myself..!

I need to make a new one the proper size though.

Yeah, it's kind of strange. I noticed that on their listings my site doesn't seem to appear at all, so I'm guessing that's why no one is bidding. I PM'd edd about it, but it's been an... odd... experience with op fab so far. I really hope my case is one of those strange unique things that only ever happen to me Tongue

In any case, thanks, you're awesome!

Bump, 54,143 page views in the last 30 days.

I'd really hate to go to an ad network that isn't Bitcoin-related. Sad
163  Economy / Services / Re: Selling ad space on codinginmysleep.com on: September 16, 2012, 09:14:28 PM
Bump.

52,615 pageviews in the last 30 days.
164  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin mining - not actual mining... on: September 16, 2012, 09:00:04 PM
Just got the weirdest pingback ever on my blog. Apparently this guy doesn't realize that Bitcoin mining isn't a thing that requires a backhoe and dynamite...

It's obviously a very spammy post to a very spammy blog, but it's kind of funny seeing Bitcoin mining next to a bunch of shots of front-loaders and heavy equipment.
165  Economy / Services / Re: Selling ad space on codinginmysleep.com on: September 15, 2012, 07:04:09 PM
Bump.

Seriously, no interest? CoinURL has delivered 2,000 impressions in the last 24 hours and there's no brand that wants building getting in on it on the OF side of the fence?

Maybe I've just got to wait for OF to populate stats for my site - speaking of which, holy crap it takes a long time for OF to generate site stats...
166  Economy / Services / Re: Selling ad space on codinginmysleep.com on: September 14, 2012, 10:47:39 PM
I think you should keep both banners. Exclusive advertising (like OF) can bring you more earnings if you are lucky enough to find advertisers, but network-based advertising guarantees that you will always have ads in the slots.

Probably a fair plan. We'll see how both networks do  Grin
167  Economy / Services / Re: Selling ad space on codinginmysleep.com on: September 14, 2012, 10:32:36 PM
I've replaced two of the OF ad boxes with coinurl boxes as a test, we'll see who wins Wink
168  Economy / Services / Re: Selling ad space on codinginmysleep.com on: September 14, 2012, 10:23:56 PM
Try placing CoinURL banners. We always have ads to show in your slots.

Do you offer 125x125 ad boxes? Because I don't want to put a big horizontal banner above my content.
169  Economy / Services / Re: Selling ad space on codinginmysleep.com on: September 14, 2012, 09:30:56 PM
I'm also open to partnership deals - ad space purchased by the week or month which will appear above the OF ads. Also, since I can control the HTML, filenames and path for those ads there's a much smaller chance they'll get caught by ad blocking extensions - I can react to ad blocking much faster than OF since I only have to worry about your ads and not every ad currently live on every site.

Since I have the opportunity to negotiate with advertisers directly on these I'd like to have partners that I actually believe in, products and services that I use, etc. If you're interested in such a deal, send me a PM.

I've resisted advertising on my blog for long enough and I've always said if I ever broke 50,000 hits in a 30 day span I'd reconsider. My dashboard widget says 50,045 pageviews for the last 30 days right now so I suppose it's time.

I'm initially offering two 125x125 ad slots via Operation Fabulous:

Slot 1 (top)
Slot 2

Both slots are located near the top center of the page - prime real estate.

These are brand new listings so opfab doesn't have any stats for my site left but I'll gladly give potential advertisers whatever information they need beyond the pageview count listed above.
171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just started with BitCoins and I have a BIG problem with it!! on: September 06, 2012, 11:37:09 PM
For the Moment, your you are right Gabi, but if Bitcoins would be as long there as lasts as long as our current bank system, it would could be much much much worse than the existiong existing bank system because the whooe whole world would be using it... so you cannot comapre compare these two things. i think! Smiley But to be honest, for the moment YOU ARE RIGHT! ;-))

peace.

Sorry, I'm really not trying to be a pedant but if you're going to critique something you should try a) writing words that people can read, b) actually including some support for your claims and c) try to actually be right. Sorry, you're just wrong in every imaginable way and your poor grasp of the English language invites mockery that doesn't help your cause.

Ok so I know you're not releasing much in the way of hardware specs just yet, but can I at least get an estimate of approximate size? Am I looking at something the size of a BFL single of a mini-rig? I'm assuming some serious miniaturization comes along with the move to ASIC but I don't know whether we're talking 4 little chips on one board or 16 of those boards on a humongous backplane?
173  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Project will be making a major announcement in September on: September 04, 2012, 06:15:15 AM
Its already been leaked before lol, I pointed that out pages ago

I got the chance to ask Charlie in person and all I could get from him was:

Quote
Me: So a little while ago, Gavin said that there was a big announcement coming up in September. Any chance this is it?

Charlie: No, this is not it. What he's announcing is an announcement, not... Well, I don't wanna say any more.

Me: Fair enough, didn't expect you to go on-record with it if you knew.

Charlie: No, he would kill me if I said anything. He was just here recently. He would kill me.
174  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Followup Interview About BitInstant's Bitcoin MasterCard on: September 01, 2012, 12:12:00 AM
we're on the front page of Reddit

That's only on the front page for subscribers to r/Bitcoin

You're right, fair point. I poke around a bit but I'm far from a master Redditor.  Grin
175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Followup Interview About BitInstant's Bitcoin MasterCard on: August 31, 2012, 11:59:32 PM
So far this one's only made page 2 of HN,

It's odd that YCombinator is in on Coinbase but the users and hangers-on at HN just aren't interested in bitcoin.

The last article made it to #2 on HN and HN was responsible for about 70% of the ~16,000 hits I got in the first 72 hours. I'd say someone at HN is interested in Bitcoin Wink
176  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Followup Interview About BitInstant's Bitcoin MasterCard on: August 31, 2012, 10:24:46 PM
So far this one's only made page 2 of HN, whereas the first made #2 on page 1, but we're on the front page of Reddit again so I won't complain too much Wink

178  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the chances of an address collision? and what happens when it does? on: August 29, 2012, 06:04:03 PM
An address collision would be a SHA256 collision

And if you find a SHA256 collision then bitcoin is the last of our problem

Technically it would be a RIPEMD160(SHA256(SHA256())) collision. Not nitpicking, it's an important distinction given that the last step in that process yields 2^160 possible addresses instead of 2^256. 96 bits of keyspace ain't no joke son.
179  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the chances of an address collision? and what happens when it does? on: August 29, 2012, 05:47:26 PM
Every time this questions pops up people start flooding the board with zeros.  Scientific notation people!

That's because most folks who don't already understand how big 2^160 is also don't understand how small 3e-38 is. The zeroes drive the point home.
180  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What are the chances of an address collision? and what happens when it does? on: August 29, 2012, 05:42:52 PM
Chance are negligible. If collision occurs with a funded address, attacker you can transfer funds elsewhere.

Chances are still negligible when 1 billion people are using it?  also can't I just run some kind of bots, that randomly generate addresses to see if
they have funds in them?

Yes, chances remain negligible. You could run your bot, but it'd be a waste of electricity. Chances are you'd wait the lifetime of the universe before finding a collision.

But probability also says, I could have a success on my first run? isn't it?

Sure, you could absolutely find a success on your first run, but let's apply probability to your scenario.

Let's say there are a billion people using 10 addresses each for 10 billion total addresses.

This means that each address you generate has a (1/2^160)*10,000,000,000 possibility of holding a balance, giving your first attempt a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000684% chance of finding a collision on your first attempt.

You are correct in stating that with each try it will either happen or it won't, there is no in-between state, and you're correct in stating that it's possible. It's also bad news for the account holder that a collision would give you control of those funds.

Comparatively speaking, your odds of being struck by lightning in a given calendar year are about 1 in 280,000. The odds of winning my local lottery are about 1 in 176,000,000. So finding a collision on your first try is roughly equivalent to being hit by lightning 16,540,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times per second for an entire year or winning the lottery 830,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times.

If you find a collision I would stay indoors and play the lottery.
